We went there to celebrate my sons and my birthday and we were not disappointed. We will be back and will try the Hibachi. Everything we tried was excellent. We are regulars here and for good reasons.
1. Roy is the best Hibachi chef in the Valley. Hands down. He is funny, engaging, entertaining, and cooks really good food. My son absolutely loves him and won’t go anywhere else bc Roy isn’t there.
2. We frequently have Angela as our server who is absolutely amazing - friendly, engaging, fast, and always takes care of us. We have a great experience with the other staff members as well.
3. Prices are way more competitive than other Hibachi places in the Valley.
4. They take reservations and you don’t need to wait for 2+ hours in the bar to be seated (like other local places).
5. You actually get vegetables and not a pile of rubbish bean sprouts. Broccoli, carrots, onion, mushroom, and zucchini.
6. Great drink menu and VERY reasonably priced. You won’t leave breaking the bank bc you ordered a few drinks.

For Management- My only suggestion is to consider upgrading menus, chairs and some of the infrastructure, and consider hiding access supplies from customer view (I.e. keep storage in back, not entrance). Keep “front of the house” presentable, clean and classy.

Overall, highly recommend and we will continue to be frequent flyers.

Visited a week ago with coworkers for lunch and we had a lot of issues here.

1- the place was way too dark. We couldn't see that much. I know that is a popular thing for certain restaurants though.
2- the furniture and plates were all falling apart.
3- the waitress was argumentative with two of my coworkers when they mentioned their drink glasses were dirty.
4- food was brought out wrong.
5- we were not informed about up-charges when ordering a different soup with meal. Since I was charged for a whole new thing of soup, I feel like I should've received both soups then or be at least warmed that I was going to be charged for a whole new soup so I could've made an informed decision. My coworker had this issue too.

The food was good, and that was a plus. Portion sizes are good. Service was okay, but it seemed to be delayed a couple of times. The establishment could use an upgrade such as lighting. There is a lot of worn-out furniture. Seats are very worn as picture shows, to go boxes out on counters in back dining area, full beverage cases tucked in a corner when you first come in to establishment. Im not sure if people want to see that stuff out in the open. Bathrooms were messy. They didn't have the paper towel dispensers filled. Overall, the food was good. Need communication with the cooks. I pick up deliveries for here (each time I wait 30+ minutes). When asking how long, the host tells me “i don’t know”. At least go ask. Last time I was there 7 people were waiting for togos and were told the same thing. 2 people came and were told their order was lost and that they’d have to put it back in and wait. Made a reservation for 8pm for 2 people. Arrived 10 minutes early. It was busy. Waited for 20 minutes after our reservation time(30 min total). People who walked in after without a reservation were seated before us. Watched hostess consuming a alcohol beverage ( did not look old enough to drink also asking what kind of alcohol was in what clearly was a Margherita) made by wait staff. During the time that the people who walked in with out a reservation were seated. We were then seated at a dirty table with another couple. Hostess came and cleaned table and asked the couple at the end to pass the plates down along with the napkins and our silverware. The one gentleman's plate was dirty and he asked for another and yet received another dirty plate. No one came to ask for our drinks or give us menus. At that point we left. We stopped for lunch at 2pm so it wasn’t busy at all. My husband ordered the hiabachi chicken and it came out cold and hard. I ordered hot sake which tasted like vinegar. I also ordered the lunch box shrimp teriyaki. The miso soup was so watered down you couldn’t tell it was miso soup. Then my shrimp shumi and shrimp and veggies were cold. My shrimp was rubber. We waited around for the waitress to come back but she never did. We were on somewhat of a time crunch so we started eating it. When she did finally get to us we mentioned it and basically said sorry. Paid full price for everything. I would never go back here.

The staff were wonderful and accommodating with my wife's allergies to shellfish and orange. They made sure to make her hibachi meal in the kitchen away from other contaminants and had double checked with me if she had any other food allergies. They were very polite and respectful, and the food was top notch. Their pork Katsu was very good and their Amazing roll was worth the 3 hour drive from northern wisconsin. I really didn't like that there wasn't an Oshibori(hot towel) offered. Also there was no yakumizara for soy sauce offered. Which makes sense since they didn't have any soy sauce to fill aside from what the chef had, and used it sparingly. It was all about their house sauces. The chef was skilled and did an excellent job, as is expected of a Japanese chef. Everything he cooked got smothered in a teriyaki-like sauce, which was better than expected. For how slow it was at an early lunch hour, the waitstaff was slow in removing old dishes.

We had an exceptional dining experience at Sakura Japanese Steakhouse. From the moment we made our reservation online to walking in, everything was phenomenal. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we were well taken care of. The chef was entertaining, and the food was cooked to perfection. The sushi rolls, especially the Monster Roll, were fantastic. To top it off, the staff surprised us with a celebratory candle, music, and ice cream to celebrate my daughter’s 18th birthday. I hate to leave such a low review the sushi is the best in the Fond du lac/ Oshkosh area. My only issue I with the atmosphere/ management. I had one of the oddest interviews about a week ago where I called and asked if they were hiring and the manger told
Me to come in to fill out an application .Once I came and drove about 30 minutes, I was surprised to be directed to an interview where he asked 3-4 very brief questions, turned the application to the back of the page to write down some of my information and said he’d be in touch. I’d hate to say this but I really felt my skin color was the reason for such a brief/ rude interaction. I would not recommend anyone go to this place for dining/ work. It left a terrible taste in my mouth and it sucks because on the surface it seems like a pretty decent place to recommend.

Originally this establishment ranked a high 5 Stars...not after tonight. We placed an order for delivery. Over an hour passes and we have not received our meal. We call the restaurant and are told...they didn't have time to check the APP they utilize for delivery. Our order hadn't even been processed. They refused to do a refund. They said we could come pick up our food...defeats our choice of delivery. Then they said they were refunding our $$, yet they didn't. It was not the APPs fault (go figure)! 2.5 hours later, after a manager not even talking to us, my husband picked up the order.
This was ridiculous service! EPIC FAILURE in customer service!
Addendum: Upon arrival "owner" told my husband not to return, blamed Delivery APP.

It's always fun coming here to try something. They have for something almost everyone here. Don't like sushi? I'd suggest their pork katsu, any of their udons, or one of their hibachi dishes. For all my years on the planet I've always said I'm not eating sushi. Not doing the raw food thing. A few years ago I was schooled on eating cooked vs raw sushi and a fan was born.

I went with two friends and we ordered the Oshkosh Roll, Sakura Roll and California Rolls.

When I look at the pictures I struggle to describe which one was which but I do know they were all delicious! I did order the one with the crunchy topping and that is the Oshkosh Roll. We shared with each other and I can honestly say I enjoyed each one very much.

There is a bit of a language barrier with some staff members but not enough to cause a disappointment, we got it figured out.

We also tried the fried cheesecake for desert. It was good, the inside was still a little frozen but we ate it so it must not have been an issue 😆.

I will go back for the sushi rolls again, I'm probably not going to try anything raw so I'm a Midwest Sushi Eater😆. Not a conassiur by any stretch and I'm guessing someone who is might have a different opinion on these. If you're just looking for a good sushi place, I'd guess and say Sakura is a good option for where we live.

In the past I have enjoyed this restaurant but this was my last visit. 2 of my dishes had shrimp, 1 roll and pan noodles. I found multiple shrimp in both dishes that were not de-veined. The food has always been on point. This was my 6th time dining in. I usually eat at the bar, because I am impatient. When I do have to wait for a table, it’s usually rather short. Tonight was packed because of the holiday and multiple parties partaking in some hibachi action. I would recommend this place for sushi and hibachi. There are other options on the menu, such as Korean food and Japanese Cuisine such as Udon, but I have not yet tried it out yet. I got to taste my wife’s Udon, which was pretty good, except I’m not a fond onion soup fan. I’m more of a miso, beef broth, or egg drop type of soup fan. I’m sure I would have appreciated it more if it had less onions, or caramelized onions in the broth.

Best sushi place in Oshkosh. I love the Water Monster Roll and the Fancy Roll. The calamari is pretty alright, but the egg rolls are awesome.

They're pretty good, not much for choice up in these parts. I was just there for dinner - the place looks a bit sad after COVID. We ordred like $60 worth of sushi and a veggie bentobox ($22). The Volcano rolls are so good. Any tempura roll won't disappoint. It's pretty expensive for some rolls ($15+) and you don't get very much and it's very salty. We ordered the plum wine and they must have a different vendor because it tasted horribly sweet. I had the chicken tempura, chicken udon and yaki soba, all at separate times last year. I ordered carryout and the food; it was cold when I picked it up even though I was ready for the pickup as soon as it notified me. The udon also had a hair in it, but they made it right and credited me like $9 for next time I come in.
