I recently visited Saltie Kitchen and Bar in New Richmond, Wisconsin, and I have to say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The ambiance of the place is so inviting modern, yet warm and cozy, with a great vibe that’s perfect for both casual outings or special occasions.
The food was top-notch! Every dish we tried was packed with flavor, and you can tell they really care about using fresh, quality ingredients. From the appetizers to the main courses, everything was cooked to perfection. The cocktails were equally impressive, each one beautifully crafted and perfectly balanced.
A huge shoutout to Shanen, our bartender for the evening. Not only did she make some of the best cocktails I’ve had in a long time, but she was also super friendly, attentive, and made our experience even more enjoyable. Her knowledge of the drink menu and her suggestions were spot on. You can tell she loves what she does, and it made all the difference!

My wife and I discovered SALTIE while traveling regularly to our son’s in Minnesota.
We were attracted by the name and unique restaurant front with the garage door opening to the street allowing for open dining on appropriate days. We have now patronized on 5-6 occasions and look forward to our visits planning for our meal time.
Most recently we arrived at noon and tried one of those award winning old fashions served by a super friendly bar tender. Delicious!!
I had the fish tacos my very favorite (it was Taco Tuesday) and my wife had the shrimp pasta Alfredo. The old fashions were “award winning” and the food was delicious. To stop here would be negligent - the friendly staff and atmosphere are as much a part of the SALTIE experience as the food and drinks. SALTIE A+
We look forward to our next visit!!

Friendly staff. Loved our main dishes.... I had the blackened fish tacos-- very good. My husband had the smash burger. We were bummed they were out of brussel sprouts. Our appetizers were just ok. My mom had the fish and chips and my dad the fettuccine alfredo... both very tasty. If we are ever in the area again, we would go back!

Just had dinner there..my wife ordered a blended margaritas during happy hour and she received a tasteless margarita on the rocks at full price. I ordered a bowl of chicken wild rice soup to be brought out right away....I got a cup of soup at the same time as a tasteless very dry bacon cheeseburger. My wife got a tasteless plate of shrimp scampi... server also never checked back with us to see if everything was ok. I have never written a review before but was very unhappy with everything.

We quit going here when it was Mallards because the tables were always dirty and sticky. We were excited when they changed over hoping for an exciting and clean experience. We went past 3 dirty tables to settle on the last one only to find debris of a few types. Someone thought it was clean because the silverware was already placed on the table soldered in a cloth napkin…
Not sure eating a place that’s this dirty doesn’t make me wonder what gets in the food. We left so we can’t comment on the food and that’s ok. Tables and floors shouldn’t be sticky!

I stopped in last weekend while passing through New Richmond and chose Saltie basically because to be honest I was kinda tired of typical Wisconsin cuisine! Anyway, it was kinda dead so it's hard to reasonably rate the atmosphere, but other than that I was more than pleased. I was seated quickly at a table I chose, which is awesome! I know that's not always possible but it's nice when the hosts are flexible because the place isn't busy. Too many times they just seat you in a section because that's what they're told to do. So that was nice! My server Shayla was absolutely fantastic, and even though she mentioned she had just started, seemed to know the menu very well. I'm one of those people who ask a lot of questions and she just seemed like one of those pros who can understand exactly what your tastes are by the questions you ask. I really really appreciate servers like that! Also, she just had that knack of making eye contact as she was serving other people to make sure I had what I needed. The fish tacos were very good and a great change from the cheese heavy foods I had through my tour of Wisconsin. This is a hidden gem in a tiny town that shouldn't be missed! And ask for Shayla!

I visited this establishment with my family for the first time, having previously dined here when it was known as Mal. We decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, my mother had to return her dish twice, and it appeared that her food had only been microwaved. If possible, I would have given it a zero-star rating. I am unlikely to return to this restaurant, which is regrettable given its proximity to my residence. I had hoped that the restaurant would have improved, but it seems that the quality has declined significantly since its rebranding. They no longer offer lobster, which was once a staple of their menu. Sadly, this establishment is no longer the excellent restaurant it once was. If you are seeking a dining experience with high-quality food, I would recommend exploring alternative options.

The fries were delicious!! The turkey avocado blt was good, but I wouldn't mind trying it with a different sauce besides ranch. The chips were okay, I liked the texture but personally didn't like the seasoning. Might ask for no seasoning next time! Burgers were good! The baguette was good, crunchy outside and soft inside! But I do miss the raspberry jam the previous restaurant had, otherwise the beer cheese and honey butter were good with it. The side salad was good but it came out with the meal instead of before. Oh and they have paper to go boxes! I will definitely be returning to try other dishes!

Went for dinner on a Friday. It was not as busy as I would have expected. We got a table that was about one inch out of level. Nothing worse than a table that's always moving around when someone touches it. We ordered wings as an appetizer and they were excellent! Two of us ordered a ribeye steak with a salad. This was the thinnest ribeye steak I've seen in my life. 1/2" thick. I'm not sure why anybody would cut a steak this thin. I usually like to eat my salad before the main course but they didn't bring my salad out till 5 minutes after the steak arrived. I might come back for some wings again sometime, but I don't think I'll be back for dinner. Maybe this place is just cursed by the location. There's been many restaurants that have come and gone at this spot.

Everytime we go here the food is so good! One of our favorite New Richmond restaurants! Their tallow fries are so good and they have good gluten free options! I always love a good restaurant with a garage door that can open and close in the summertime!

We were pretty disappointed with the visit. We waited until 8pm because we thought the Friday crowd might be big - there was only one other table and maybe 8 at the bar. We ordered drinks followed by food. The Salty Margarita was ok. I finished mine, but the server didn't return until the food was ready. I ordered the Pineapple Paradise next - really good flavor. One of our three orders was incorrect. The server scrapped the wrong item off of our plate, which was weird, I never have seen that. I finished the second drink and was ready to try the Strawberry Crush, but again, I just sat there and no server to be found - there was only one other table in the restaurant???? The chicken on the buffalo mac had grissle in it and was nothing special. My wife had the Italian sandwich, and it didn't have much flavor. When the server finally returned, she had our check with her and sat it on the table. I guess I wasn't going to try the strawberry drink, and they wanted us out of there. The experience was not great, and I don't expect them to survive for very long with the service and quality of food. A real shame. The best part of the visit was the garage door that opened up to the street. It was nice to sit there with the warm weather and watch the activity on the main street.
Update : we know it's a new restaurant, and we will return to try it again in the future.

I had the steak, potatoes, and green beans and they were all excellent. My husband really like his walleye too. New waitress in training forgot the steak sauce but I found I didn't need it as steak was so flavorful. It was nice to have the front window up but atmosphere is nothing special. We'll go back for great food and drinks.

First time in on a Saturday night and not too busy. Our server seemed new and wasn't able to answer basic menu questions, like "do you make your flatbread crust here"? It sure seems like a Sysco product but we were told it was made in-house. The pizza seemed under done but the crust was dark. They may be still figuring out how to use the wood fired pizza oven. The baguette comes warm but also not house-made as the menu implies. Served with a beer cheese tasting queso and honey butter, it interestingly comes covered in butter and garlic salt- not too much of a bad pairing with the queso, but an interesting seasoning choice for the honey butter. The fish fry I upgraded to the walleye which came heavily battered, greasy, and very fishy. I love fish. Even fishy fish. But this was just wrong. I never leave fish on the plate and I did this time. 2 stars for food based on what I've mentioned, but the chicken wings and chicken strips were decent. That's not hard to do. Its worth a shot to try it once. Maybe you'll have a better experience than us. But for the same food done MUCH better at other local establishments, I would opt for somewhere with better atmosphere.

My wife is always looking for good fish tacos, so of course we had to try Salties!
There was so much flavor to these Blackened Fish Tacos, and the presentation was very appealing.
The breading on the Calamri was light and crunchy, and the sauce was very good as well.
Of course, the servers here are great, and we can always expect friendly and efficient service.

My family and I went in for an early dinner on a Saturday. We were the only ones there seemed strange but decided to order some appetizers to start . Ordered the chips and dip trio and Brussels sprouts. We could see the kitchen from our table and noticed Both appetizers were put in the microwave. When seeing what we ordered we asked if we could take it to go just didn’t trust the food would be good if they were using the microwave. See the pictures below . The chips and dip we don’t even try it was clearly not going to be good and the Brussels sprouts were soggy and not made that’s day I’m sure .
