Read the reviews about the food and service, but decided to go anyway and I am glad I did. If you are in a hurry and not up for a dining experience, then sure, maybe go somewhere else. The wait staff do seem a bit inexperienced but still friendly and responsive. My wife and I enjoyed our time at the table as we were in the area for relaxing and sightseeing. We didn't feel like we were chased away from our table so they could serve someone else. All the food was delicious, and came out just when we wanted it, no sooner: Home-made onion rings a big hit, I had the ribs which were tender and juicy and delicious, my better half had Surf and Turf, and it was excellent, and she is very picky about her steaks and seafood. We both had a twice baked potato which is a big treat you don't find those at all anymore at restaurants, at least we don't, and of course it was delicious. Salads had real greens, not the usual cop-out of iceberg lettuce. The drinks were fantastic, the atmosphere great, all in all I would heartily recommend you stop in to Sam and Maddie's it's next to the Don Q Inn in Dodgeville, WI for good food and friendly service and Wisconsin sized portions. Yum!

Had our wedding reception there. Requested a keg and a mojito bar, which was a rather expensive addition; the keg was warm, the mojito bar was not there and I was told the mojitoes were to be ordered at the regular bar.

I had a tab going for the wedding party, but the bar tenders decided to charge them anyway. None of our concerns were addressed. Received no assistance with the setup; including linens. We were asked to pay our balance on the wedding night even though we had arranged to pay when we checked out of our room next morning.

The manager was nearly impossible to get a hold of before, during, or after the reception. It was a huge letdown overall.

Service was fast and friendly. Chef came out even to talk to diners at each table. We were very surprised given the mixed reviews. Could not have asked for better service. We are from the Twin Cities, if it was near home we would go often. My wife had the smoked chicken ravioli and said was delicious. I had the chicken and ribs special. Ribs were very good.

The service was not good at all! Some of the worst service. Our server took too long to even take our drink orders, our food came after a wait. The quality and taste wasn't worth the prices they charge. One of our orders was wrong, our waitress was very inattentive and not helpful, she never even asked if we wanted refills. The management was somewhat helpful in comping part of the meal. I understand this restaurant is in a tourism area, but even with that you would expect a little more in taste and quality.

Great service from wait staff. Overall food was well prepared and had a nice flavor. Everything seemed reasonably priced. The restaurant was clean. Recommended.
