PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD if you’re charging me FOURTEEN DOLLARS for pork belly, PLEASE INCLUDE THE PEPPER!!!! This is my 4th time not getting pepper when I have gotten it with it other times!!!! I understand being the one of the only Hmong restaurants in the area, it’s easier to get away with overcharging but at LEAST INCLUDE THE PEPPER, PLEASSSSSSEEEEE

I use to love this place but so much with food and pricing has changed. I'd rather make my own from now on.
I always get H2, pork belly with sticky rice and some spring rolls.
1. The pork belly is a hit or miss, sometimes its good, other times old and dried out.
2. The sauce they used to make was the whole reason I loved the pork belly, they dont make it the same anymore, at all. It is way too hot/spicy, which takes away the flavor and honestly to me, not edible. I like hot food, but someone is ruining the sauce with too many chilles.
3. The spring rolls used to be much larger and had nice sized shrimp. Now, they are super skinny, small shrimp, and the price is so much more. $8 when it used to be $5.
Same for pork belly, use to be $12 now $15. I get inflation, but you also started making smaller portions with the spring rolls, and your sauce is not the same.
Probably wont be returning, unfortunately.

I ordered the Hmong Pho (noodle soup)(Beef only) and the Thai Tea.
The soup has a hearty and natural beef flavor. The noodles and vegetables in the soup were excellent. It also came with three different sauces, mint leaves, and alfalfa sprouts on the side, (no fish sauce).
The Thai Tea is possibly the best in the city. I see why people drive here from the far west side just for the tea. It is rich and flavorful.
I can see Hmong elders back there in the kitchen, so no need to try and finesse an invite to an exclusive Hmong gathering for authentically made Hmong food. You can just order it here.
The food court is large and spacious and serves several restaurants like that at the mall.

Got the 5-Star hot Papaya Salad and it pushed me against my limit in a great way. Sticky rice and sausage with pepper were awesome. Egg rolls very solid. I’ll be ordering again for sure.

2 stars for having good navaam drinks and sticky rice. Otherwise, their curry noodle is not even curry noodles. It is super sweet like sugar and the broth is thick and creamy and super sweet. Their pho is just not pho at all. There's minimal meat and condiments. The broth is bland. If you know how to eat pho, this isn't pho. The papaya is not tasty. The chicken has no flavor. The sausages, sometimes it is not fully cooked, or too well cooked and dry.
1 star for bad services. I was waiting in line ordering and then waiting to get my food. I saw 2 staffs coughing and sneezing. Some times they cover their mouth and doesn't wash their hands. Or they don't cover their mouth and doesn't wash hands.
1 star for service. I stood there waiting and everybody looks at me. No greet or ask if I needed help. They all just stare at you then continue on with their conversations.
1 star for atmosphere. Overall, will I eat there again and I would say no.

Pork Belly is hit or miss One day it's tender and juicy, the next it's chewy and touch.Chicken was flavored well and tender but I did not get the sticky rice with it, which I paid for in full. I was told to wait 30 minutes. I went back and was told to wait another 30 minutes. I never got the sticky rice. No offer to get a refund or at least something else to compensate for it. Pho was decent, not bad. My friend enjoyed the sausage but had to ask for his missing side of rice also. Unfriendly, bad service.

Pictured below is the pork belly clear broth noodle (kaopoon) and the Hmong sausage with purple sticky rice. Both were delicious! Their Hmong pho combo is also pretty tasty too.
My friends and I frequently eat here, and we love it! Food always comes out within 10 minutes.

They used to be the best. I used to tip these people over 25% because I loved to support them but over time they have become extremely stingy. Cost me 12 dollars to order pork belly that is way less than half a pound. And they were shifting through the pork belly when they had a ton of it 1 hour before closing. I recommend you go to Hmong legacy Instead. Do better or y'all won’t be in business for long.

I love supporting small businesses. I’m from out of state so I’m not sure how long they’ve been opened, so maybe they are new and are still learning. Stood for a good 10+ minutes before anyone took our order. It was not busy, I was the only customer. I just stood at the ordering window and they just ignored me. No “I’ll be right with you” or hi. Finally they took our order. We ordered pork belly with rice and a bowl of khob piaj. We waited almost 40 minutes. Again, it was not busy. Got our food. Pork belly had good flavor. Khob piaj was very salty and the portions were really small for such a big bowl. At least serve it in a smaller bowl. There was a lot of broth and the broth was not a chicken flavor broth. It was more pho broth.

Once in a while we like to grab and go from Hmong Kitchen. We recently ordered food to go and when we got home, eating halfway through the papaya, my husband found a fingernail tip in it. It got me so diagusted I almost vomit. The food was good but the thought of finding a fingernail tip was disgusting! I always want to support our local Hmong businesses, but I don't think I would support again.

I wanted to like this place and support but the service was horrible. I waited over 45 minutes for a bowl of kapoon and two pork bellies from the warmer. There were at least five workers in the back. The eggrolls were decent but the kapoon was awful. Bland and color looks off. This was a horrible experience.

Got some plain pho with just broth, eggrolls & pork belly. Waited in line for 1 hr 10min. Workers seemed alittle overwhelmed. I get that it can get busy but wait time could be better . If they had someone handling the meat and rice that was already in the warmer. We had 7 people who came after us get their food before ours. Was excited to try this new place for our first time in Madison but disappointed . We also got some kapoon and it had no flavor whatsoever 😞

There's not a lot of options for Hmong food in Madison so as a Hmong person this is a place I frequent to even if it's on the more expensive side. The food is just like any other place that sells Hmong food - you get the basic selection but sometimes they make extra deserts or food items. Service is REALLY bad. They will literally see you wait in line to order but not come take your order until 5-10 minutes later. Sometimes they're not even busy and as a Hmong person who understands Hmong and what they're saying, i can guarantee you their conversations are not those of a busy staff that can't step away for 2 minutes to take an order. Today I went and someone was literally on their phone at the front near the register but didn't look up to take my order for a whole 8 minutes. I'm very disappointed. I want to support my local Hmong businesses and community but this is making it very hard.

Yall went off. It was my birthday weekend and have been away from home for about a decade and only really cook lao/hmong food for myself. I came with my partner and in laws. We got pork belly, crab rangoon, papaya salad, quarter of chicken, sticky rice, and khaopoon with clear broth and the best chicken fried rice. I felt at home and everything was on point. Thank you.

In the last 6 months, we have had 3 wrong orders. Our orders were either incomplete (meaning, they missed parts of the entree), or incorrectly charged. When we go to correct the issue, we get questioned repeatedly by staff, as if we are trying to scam the business. We have been returning customers, but today's error is enough. I ordered crab rangoons and was charged for spring rolls. When I went to correct the error, the staff was hesitant and questioned if I picked up a pack of spring rolls from the front bar. I was patient and waited while I got a rull refund on the spring roll charge, then was charged for rangoons. This last experience left me feeling disappoitned and discouraged. We enjoy the meat and sticky rice entrees and used to look forward to a good meal when we grocery shop. Either way, 5 dollars for 3 flat crab rangoons is not justifiable in the first place.
Also, you may want to list all your ingredients on your packages. Another customer bought the intestines stuffed with sticky rice, and asked me if it was vegetarian since it didn't list any animal products. She had bought it for a friend who does not eat meat and was disappointed but too embarassed to return it.

Horrible service for mediocre food. Stood in line for 10 minutes before they took my order. Then waited 30 minutes to get two bowls of food. Horrible, slow service. There were 5 people in the back but they were slow moving and chatty. After waiting 15 minutes I asked about my order and they said it was almost done. When I picked up the order and told the server how long they took she argued with me. My husband said the pho had no taste. Never going there again. Go to the vietnamese on the opposite side!

Very nice Lao cuisine. Some dishes are similar to Northeastern Thai food and they are all spot on. My favorite and recommended dish is papaya salad. Very authentic and you can customize by choosing how many chilies you want. The sausage is alright. The hot sauce makes it more interesting as well as with pork belly. The only kinda negative thing and reason 1 star is missing is that the pork belly smelled a little weird, like plastic smell. Not sure what it is. Could be the container they put in.

We really liked the food here. The spring rolls were good and the peanut sauce was the best we’ve had.
The Crab Rangoon filling was delicious! The wonton wrappers were a little big though and the outer pieces were crusty.
