Took my daughter for a quick lunch. We shared a meal.. Asked for extra chicken.. Got shrimp. Not what i asked for!

Everybody loves this place,food is consistent. Staff isn't great because they don't have to be! Literally fought with me about what i ordered when i corrected the order i was told i ordered something else. Then wasn't given the spring rolls when back to get them and was given one and then fought about what was on the receipt. I open business and would never fight with a patron about what they want and paid for! I correct it and give the customer what they are looking for from my business! Put a horrible taste in my mouth about ever returning. Communication is everything. But when you don't care because your business is self sufficient you forget about human to human connections and the bad rep it creates! It's not cool!

I've eaten chicken teriyaki for years and the last few times has been a disappointment. The food is still good. However, the service is shallow. I feel like it is me doing them a favor to pick to eat there. About a year ago I ordered on the app for a future delivery, was early and the food was cold. A few months ago I came at 5:30 when they close at 6 and they said they were out of chicken? Today I was in Madison early and decided to to have chicken teriyaki. I thought they opened at 10:30. At 10:38 I asked and was told they open at 11:00. 11:05 I was told 5 minutes. First plate out at 11:20. Wish it wasn't so hard to buy their food.

I would give them 5 stars except you can't contact them and if you use door dash they have it set up to where the customer can't request extra sauce or anything. You try to call them the number is out of service. I eat here often. And I always request extra sauce Uber let's you request it door dash doesn't. Sometimes they send it but mostly they do not . I've even had them tell the driver it's in the bag and it wasn't. SARKU in the spirit of Kaizein send enough teriyaki sauce to taste it thank you

Had a surprise birthday party at Sarku Japan. We had a large group and 1 waiter handled drinks, orders and checks for our whole party. This caused some periods of waiting but overall fine. Watching the food bring prepared was exciting. Since chef only used one grill, half our party unable to see and looking at chef's back.The entrees were delicious but pricey. Overall a fun experience but because of price may only be able to visit on special occasions.

I like chicken teriyaki, but I've had to be discriminated against, when I ask for extra meat, it's the same, and if there is someone else of another race, they give them the plate they can't even close it, and it's been the same several times, and even worse when I ask for it in the app, when I go and tell them, they simply pretend to not hear. . Going downhill, fast in last 6mo. Today was last straw. Ordered online (chkn tryk) white rice, extra chkn, light sauce. Watched people order & get served after I "checked in". Didn't get extra chkn (arguably not even 1 serving!) & it was stringy/grisly chewy, plus the rice was mushy, sauce had an extra "tang" that's never been there before. Tried to correct missing extra chkn before leaving, but was shrugged off as though I couldn't be understood. Been coming for decades, my fave place, until this year. Get your act together, please! Located in west town food court, teriyaki chicken is always cooked fresh right in front of you flavor is amazing, we visit every time we go to Madison, usually monthly. Sign on the counter says 7oz of chicken come in a standard meal. I ordered 4 meals with double meat and couldn’t have gotten more than 4oz per meal. Additionally, the workers made a mistake and made 2 of my meals with rice instead of noodles like I requested, so they split one portion of noodles between 2 meals. I found this extremely rude especially because another woman in line got double meat while they were remaking my other 2 orders and her meal was spilling over with meat, easily 2-3x the meat on my “double meat” meals. Portion sizes should not be listed if they are not going to be adhered to. The man with the arm tattoos who scoops the meat consistently shorts the portions and has driven my business elsewhere many times due to this issue.

We, my husband and I, love this place. I would not usually go for a food court place, even when shopping except for maybe Auntie Anne’s pretzels- I mean come on it’s a mall tradition. But we have grown to love Sarku Japan, especially when we are craving some Chicken Teriyaki- which is actually hard to find, a straight forward teriyaki. The chicken and veggies are cooked to order, the sauce is so yummy.

We can usually always share one meal and even leave with some leftovers, if we are not feeling super hungry. We use our punchcard as well, so once we have purchased 6 chicken teriyaki entree s, we get one free! We actually just used up one of them !

Definitely somewhere to try if you are looking for a quick, inexpensive meal with or without the shopping!!
