Got there just as they were "closing early for the holiday" (? We had to stop and think.... it was Columbus Day). We watched them turn away probably 6 people after us and at their prices? Probably over $150 easily by the time bakery items were purchased as our 2 burgers with chips and 2 small iced teas were over $30 (they DID have fresh baked hamburger buns and fresh homemade pickles....) AND we bought some pastries which came to $20 +/-. It was good but pricey. If money is no object? Go. I would LOVE to try one of their take and bake chicken pies but $25? I'm sure the time and effort (just like all handcrafted items) makes it more than worth it.

We sat ourselves down in a small dining area and immediately noticed that both the men’s and women’s bathrooms were right next to the customers’ dining tables. Holy cow, who thought that was a good idea? Can you imagine trying to enjoy breakfast while not only hearing people inside the bathroom but also catching a whiff of it? Not exactly the kind of “homey” atmosphere I was hoping for.

Next issue: customer service—or rather, the complete lack of it. You order by scanning a QR code, then leave a tip if you so chose to before receiving any service whatsoever. Our party of four had to get our own water in flimsy plastic cups that tasted like it came straight from a garden hose or bathroom sink. Nobody at the table drank theirs. Then we watched a staff member refill that same plastic water jug from a plastic bucket you’d normally find at a hardware store. Lovely.

We switched to coffee instead—but that was a mistake. After one sip, we all agreed it was the worst coffee any of us had ever tasted. It either came from the same questionable water source or from coffee machines that have never once been cleaned. So, we all switched to orange juice instead ($3.15).

When the food finally arrived—on paper plates with plastic utensils, it didn’t get any better. Between the pancakes, French toast, skillets, potatoes, and omelets, nothing stood out. Nothing special.

On the way out, none of us dared to use the bathrooms, out of respect for the poor diners sitting right next to them. On a good note, we did stop by the bakery, which was actually decent. But overall? I’d try another location the next time around.

First off, it's a bakery and deli - not a fancy restaurant, so manage your expectations. That being said, you will go a longs ways to find a bakery that matches the quality of Scaturo's - and that is coming from a bakers daughter. The giant-sized blueberry Danish was fresh, and the combination of ingredients sublime! The pecan roll was deliciously moist - no easy feat for pecan rolls. Their subs/sandwiches are HUGE! Dh had a meatball sub with a small side of pasta salad and I had the cheese-steak sub, also with a small side of pasta salad, and we easily each got two meals out of our subs. Later in the week we came back for carrot cupcakes. Again, the perfect combo of ingredients combined for exactly the right flavor, and the cream cheese frosting was the right texture with enough moisture to maintain creaminess and still hold it's beautiful decoration. The place is much bigger than I thought. More dining areas revealed themselves as I continued in. The entry area is much like a bakery that has a gift shop. Interesting. The staff here are extremely friendly, it feels like a family operated restaurant. The French toast is the thing that was mentioned as being the most popular or the best so we got that for the kids and for myself and it is indeed very good. Large pieces of fluffy bread toasted to perfection crispy on the edges and you can get it with cherries and whipped cream which is really delicious it's kind of like a tart pie filling. Even though the kids like sweet things for some reason they feel like the cherry topping isn't too exciting but I think it's incredible I absolutely loved it.

They also have a full-on bakery over here with a lot of different other baked goods. This is an awesome family friendly location. We came in around 8:45 and it wasn't too busy on a weekday but now it's 9:24 and people are pouring in the front door. This is a very popular place, you should definitely come!

I’m writing five star reviews. Unfortunately not all establishments deserve five stars. I always try to contact a manager at establishment of business before writing a review. In this case there was not one available -only high school kids. Therefore, we was left with no other choice but to write a review on behalf of our family, with a heavy heart.

Our family has long considered a visit to Scaturos a tradition, drawn in by the quality of the food that we have enjoyed over the years. It is with great disappointment and sadness, therefore, that we must share our recent experience, particularly when hosting visiting family from out of state.

A restaurant, for us, is more than just a place to eat; it's a space for celebration where food and hospitality are expressions of care. Regrettably, our most recent lunch visit lacked both, leaving us with a profound sense of shock and dismay.

*According to Google this restaurant is listed as serving breakfast all day. Once we arrived, we quickly discovered, they do not serve breakfast all day. (Very disappointing to our entire family)

From the moment we arrived, we were met with a complete absence of service. We were directed to seat ourselves and retrieve our own menus, a pattern of neglect that continued throughout the meal. We had to repeatedly get up from our table to acquire basic necessities like napkins, forks, and condiments, all while staff members stood idle at the counter.

The most alarming part of this experience was discovering that an automated 20% gratuity was applied to our bill. (zoinks!) This mandatory charge felt entirely unjustified given that the only service provided was the delivery of our plates.

We purchased an arrangement of bakery before leaving and were again presented with an “on-line” bill which forces you to pay a percentage in a tip. Why would we pay a tip on bakery?

Our question as a group was rather unanimous. We were all wondering if the owners of this restaurant simply do not pay their staff well enough that they need to survive on tipping on every single little thing? All of us used to waitress / serve during college and thought that a tip was something a client gave you if they thought you deserved it not something that would be mandatory even on poor service.

The entitled behavior of the staff was unacceptable, reflecting a clear lack of training and professionalism that stands in stark contrast to the service-oriented business you operate. Also, our food was below standard. (sigh) We hope this review reaches the owner and inspires the necessary changes, as we, like many others, will not be returning in a market with so many other choices. 💔

Scaturos fell off. Ordered a sandwich that was 80% the bun. Sides are below average at best. I’m sure the bakery is good. Some places you get what you pay for but not here. I stopped in & got the chicken salad wrap to go & 3 cookies. The wraps are huge and include pasta salad. The wrap was good, enough for 2 people. The cookies are AMAZING. My favorite is the frosted. I love this type of cookie. I'm also spoiled because my mom makes really good frosted cookies. This is the first time I've found anything close to what I love. They were not dry & flavorless like so many bakery cookies. They were a little soft & so much flavor. They were very busy, but my food was prepared quickly. Been a fan since they opened. Things have changed over the years. It seems the recipes are the same but food costs are clearly front and center with less meat/more pasta/cheese/lettuce with the meals. My 2 recent quarts of Italian wedding soup had almost no meat. My door county salad had 5 small slivers of chicken and ground walnuts that didn’t go on the fork easily. We walked in for dinner around 5:00 PM on Friday. I ordered the pan fried perch with red potatoes. It was terrible. 3 pieces of stale, dry, thin as the breading, burnt on the bottom so called perch. Obviously reheated . From last Friday? Most of the potatoes were ok. Some pieces were sticky inside. Certainly not fresh.

This place is a one of those must stop places in Door County. I work for a car dealership and was the person sent to pick up the owner's vehicle. He greeted with a friendly smile and nice firm handshake. Just as a thank you for picking up his vehicle he sent with away with 4 HUGE delicious cookies to tide me over on the return trip. My ONLY complaint would be the ordering process: You scan a QR code and order online. We often travel to Door County and recently discovered this fantastic restaurant! We’ve eaten there multiple times and it has been fantastic! We’ve tried a variety of items and each have been delicious! We typically grab some baked goods and coffee very early in the morning. Today, we sat and ate breakfast. Each of our entrees were spectacular! Thank you for offering grilled chicken salads - I have some new dietary restrictions (😬) and this healthy option was wonderful to see on the menu! This restaurant has the perfect blend of carbs, high protein items and some healthy options which is a perfect selection for our family.

First, know your customer base. Door county= tourism. Maybe explaining your process of ordering would be helpful. Food was subpar. Maybe trying breakfast would have been better. Lastly, your employees, the young girls, in particular, who work here, need to keep their attitudes and comments under their breath, to themselves or discuss once the customer has left. We came in only for bakery items so I can’t speak to breakfast. We tried 12 things and all were good to great. The cinnamon roll had good quality dough and tons of frosting but needed more cinnamon flavor 8/10. The fritter was the best -a perfect 10/10. The muffins were okay/decent 8/10. The filling was not injected, but on top. They could use more fruit per bite. They also were a bit too crumbly, falling apart completely.The magic ring donuts were great with tons of filling —10/10.

Wonderful small shop. The food selection is limited along with avaliable drinks but don't count that against it. We ordered a pizza called the Fat Tony. Not only did it come out to us in a impressive amount of time, the pizza was very tasty! The shining star of this establishment is the bakery. Wonderful selection of breads and other baked good. I would recommend coming here for the bakery alone.

Loved our experience at Scaturo's! Felt super homey and old-school but MAN the food was delicious! I had the meatball sub and it came out quickly, hot, and full of flavor. Staff was very friendly. Would love to visit here again!

Amazing place for breakfast! Order the French toast, it's delicious! Hubby had a combo plate of eggs, bacon, etc and he said it was good, too. Grab a snack for later at the counter, although it's hard to pick just one item from their yummy pastry collection!

Part of our order was forgotten this morning. I had to bring it up to the staff. You dont get a waiter/waitress but tip is essentially required. French toast was good meats were good in terms of quality. The way my skillet was undercooked it was fairly close to being a salad again. Biscuits are gravy are nothing to rave about. Basically a bun and gravy isnt thick or flaverfull. I wouldnt go back/ or reccommend. Maybe pop in for a pastry. But that is it.

Question what service? Used to be a great restaurant disposable dishes talk about envirmental impact this restaurant is going the opposite direction. My eggs Benedict was flavorless. I will not be coming back to this restaurant. What's even worse they make you order on your cell phone then they want the tip up front before you ever even get any service.

We've been here twice passing through town, and both times have been excellent! This most recent time, I had the quiche and it was the best I've ever had. They also have some amazing prepared meals to go and you get a family-size entree, quart of soup, and a loaf of fresh made bread for less than $25! We got the Swedish meatballs & noodles, Italian sausage & potatoe soup, and fresh sourdough! Superb!

Picked up Donuts, cookies, cherry turnovers, cinnamon and pecan rolls for breakfast at our hotel and all were very good. Went back on Sunday for breakfast and was very impressed with Fisherman’s Breakfast and Cherry Stuffed Turtle French Toast! Picked up a chicken pot pie for home and it was awesome!

Scaturo’s is possibly the best breakfast restaurant within Door County. The meal proportions are huge and affordable. The food is delicious and I would claim that Scaturo’s has the best French toast I’ve ever had (I’m a french toast connoisseur). The atmosphere is very welcoming and enjoyable (I would recommend sitting in the back of the restaurant where you can find a cozy country atmosphere). The staff is great and they make you feel welcomed.
I would recommend this restaurant if you want to fuel up for a day on the peninsula!
