Walking in at 10:30 AM on a Sunday morning (hours of operation 6am -1pm) and were immediately sat, by choice, at the counter. This was a surprise as we expected a wait due to entering during a popular brunch time. From our view, we could watch the line cook hard at work, taking careful consideration to each order in which they were placed. The owner was friendly and quick with a joke but also ensured his staff was taken care of - offering multiple times to help with tasks. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us multiple times, engaging us in small talk to get to know a little bit about us. We ordered breakfast number three, which came with two pancakes, easily 8 inches in diameter, two eggs and your choice of meat. We chose the bacon and it was delicious, perfectly prepared. The second entrée was the all meat skillet with choice of eggs and toast. I chose over easy and they were exactly as I wanted. The portion sizes were perfect for our appetite & pocketbook. For a mother-son in town for the national bowling tournament, knowing nothing about this diner, I would highly recommend it to anyone! When we return to this area, it will definitely be a breakfast/brunch stop!

I had the tomato, feta and spinach omelette and it was delicious! It had been a while since I had such a tasty veggie omelette. We ordered a side of pancakes and they were so fluffy and delicious. They were out of what I initially ordered. No big deal. Server came back from kitchen, apologized, and told me options that were similar. Other people at my table liked theirs. We appreciated that the food didn’t taste “like the grill needed cleaned”. It was good, typical, American fare with hearty portions

Physical Menu:
Typical plastic encased menu. Clean! No food particles on mine…a few pop sprays on one of my friend’s menu. A quick wipe would do the trick

Overall Cleanliness & Atmosphere:
The place has a wonderful, local vibe. It’s reminiscent of places my grandma would take me or gather with her friends. The table, flatware, dishes were all clean. Nothing was sticky. However, the place could use a good “once over”. The entry was speckled with leaves and dirt, the carpeted floor (Well, it’s carpeted. Say no more). Wall decor had a bit of dust. But don’t let this deter you, the place has charm without feeling like you want to immediately turn around when you come in. And saying that, you can see the entire place when you walk in because it’s small and cozy with table seating and bar/cafe seating.

Would I go back?
Hmmmm, yes? Not run back. But if my Aunt asked me to meet her there, I wouldn’t hesitate

What’s not to love?! Excellent service from a friendly, attentive server. We had a table up front where we could watch one woman making breakfast for every table in the place. At one point she had nine tickets (orders) up. I saw strips of bacon going onto the griddle (not precooked) and my scrambled eggs were obviously individual eggs that were scrambled (not premixed with filler, like restaurants often have). We consider ourselves pancake connoisseurs and these were perfection. They’re served with a small cup of butter (vs many individually wrapped packers) and have a nice crisp to the edge. American fries were likely baked then diced and fried as they were firm but not undercooked. The sausage was juicy and flavorful. I ordered my English muffin toasted “dark” and it came that way. I’m not a coffee drinker, but the coffee drinkers at my table said the coffee was excellent. Everyone loved their food.

We waited fifteen minutes before a waitress came to our table to get us coffee. When our food came, we had the mexican omelet it was cold. Salsa salsa saw her cream.We're supposed to come with it, and we had to ask for it. We are guessing that the ground beef was pre.Made. Normally, you would have some element of grease, but there was none. The meat was cold. Walking out the back door, the kitchen was dirty. One of the kitchen staff their shirt was dirty. It looked like she had been wiping her hand on her sleeve or something. That night, my husband and I became very ill. We both had the Mexican omelet. Will never go back.

We have been eating here for years and love the atmosphere and food and staff. However, it seems that things are slacking when we come in. If asked, I let them know what went wrong. I tip $10 dollars every time we go there except today. It just seems like they don't care about the service and food we get. Today, not once did anyone come by to fill my wife's coffee and they made sure others were getting coffee. I asked why was the burger cut in half? The cook said they cut the burger to make sure it is cooked properly. A cook should know how meat is cooked without cutting. And since when the other cook does not do that. It make for a sloppy mess. Not only was it cut in half but, 1 side was broke in half and he served it. They have a lot of business so I don't think they care if they loose customers. Its sad because I really like this place and people should go there. I don't like to complain and I tip for service not food. However, I do like to get what I pay for and expect good service.

I went here because it was close to the hospital and reading the reviews I thought it would be a comforting place only to walk in and find its a greasy spoon diner that is dirty, dingy, and the cook is using frying pans that are so old teflon is scraping off into your food. We thought about leaving- but gave it a chance being short on time and we were already there.

I was told to seat myself, but then as I sat down, I was told by some other guy to sit at a dirty table, where he then put down a rag, asked if he should get me an application- and I had to clean the table myself as he sarcastically walked away-

I then wait 45 minutes for my meal that was so soggy with butter, the bacon was burned and crumbled to bits , the eggs were slimy, but I didn't complain at all about my food however, waiting to pay at the register Im watching the cook wipe his hands on his pants then he dropped the omelet ingredients on the dirty counter- and picked them up and put them back into the omelet!!! The cooking station was so unclean and gross- I can't believe I trusted this staff to cook and serve me.

So I asked the guy why I was refused to sit at the table and two other people were freely able to sit there, and instead of saying sorry- the guy snapped at me and told me I was rude for asking and I should just get over it if that was the biggest problem they had running the restaurant that it wasn't that big of a deal where I sat, and I just smile, thinking what audacity this guy had after I clean my table myself, very obvious there's NO standard for customer service, satisfaction, or cleanliness. Who would want to work there- and Im just grossed out with indigestion from the moosh.

I recommended you KEEP DRIVING- down to the Stone Toad, or Stone Arch- or even Festival foods and cook it yourself before you eat there. After all if you're cleaning the table- it might as well be your own!!!

This diner is another one of those places you can't judge from the outside. I was skeptical at first being dinner food. However this dinner brought me back to my childhood. For that sliver of time I was back at my grandma's house! She always call me and say the cafe is open meaning she was cooking breakfast. I got that same feel from the food and service here. I can't tell you how great the breakfast is. You literally watch it being cooked right behind the bar area. You can tell it's made with love ànd care. Do not hesitate to stop in I doubt you would be disappointed. The chefs are awesome and the owner said it best. They make it easy for him! As long as he has them it runs itself! This is my absolute go-to diner in Appleton. Keep in mind, if you go during peak time, you may have a wait, but it will be worth it. Firstly, they know how to make American fries; secondly, they are always courteous and focus on giving both a homestyle experience, with a homestyle atmosphere. Also, Jennifer is awesome. She loves taking care of her patrons and always keeps the coffee flowing. I have yet to experience anything less than a great experience here.
