Just one bad rating in a sea of good ones, so it's not gonna make a difference. I came in expecting a good meal, and was thoroughly disappointed. The seaweed salad was tough and stale, felt old. Miso soup is overly sweet and has no depth, with very thin mushroom slice that tastes gross - why skim on mushroom. Edamame was bland, they couldn't even add any salt on it, and about a third of them are undercooked. And the fish... I've never eaten sushi where I had to spit out chewy stringy bits - either low quality fish or the chef doesn't know how to cut the fish right. Disappointing meal all around.

Screaming Tuna is hit or miss. Tonight was an absolute miss. The salmon roe, Ikura, was cloudy and the texture mushy. The other nigiri was ruined because the rice was overcooked and had a strong vinegar flavor, leaving a coating on the roof of the mouth. Couldn't finish it.

Poor customer service! Was very excited to try a new spot, and ended up being disappointed. As soon as I walked in were weren’t greeted or asked anything. I was stared at until I spoke up and said “I would like to be seated”. We then were seated and not told anything just a walk away with no smile or “someone will be with you shortly”. As a hosts you are to be welcoming and attend customers, since you are the first impression of a restaurant to a customer. You are not to just stare as if you are confused. Really chill atmosphere the night we dined. My wife ran late but the waitress Emily was very accommodating and friendly. The drink I had was outstanding-the Margarita if I recall correctly. The miso and sushi we ordered was tasty and fresh. Only small disappointment was the mochi balls we had for dessert. I really enjoyed our dinner and again I have to say Emily was a great server.

Heard a lot of good things about this place. The location is excellent, river views and people watching. Service at the bar was top notch. Some items on the menu, like spring rolls, mashed potatoes with basil and crab won tons were great, miso soup was extra salty, the octopus sushi was rubbery. The chicken entree had too much breading.. when I gave constructive criticism about the soup, the waitress “educated” me about the fish-based content of the soup, and that saltiness is to be expected, I replied that this was the first time my miso soup was that salty, the ones I ate before must have been fake 🙄

We placed a large takeout order at Screaming Tuna Sushi, and everything seemed to go smoothly at first. The woman who helped us over the phone was kind and helpful, even accommodating some modifications to our order, which we really appreciated.

However, when we got home, we discovered that half of our order was completely wrong. We had ordered for a large group, and this was not just a minor mistake—it made much of the food unusable for our dinner. We called the restaurant immediately, but were told by the person who answered that there was nothing they could do because the kitchen was closed and “everyone had left.”

What made this worse was the tone and attitude we received. The staff member was dismissive, offering no solution beyond “we’ll take your number and call you tomorrow.” There was no attempt to make things right, no empathy, and frankly, it felt like they didn’t care at all that we had just spent $140 on food we didn’t even order.

Mistakes happen—but it’s how a business handles those mistakes that shows whether they value their customers. In this case, the experience was completely unprofessional and left us extremely disappointed. We expected better.

Had dinner here over the weekend with family. Overall, the rolls were decent and there was a good variety. Our favorite was the Sold Out roll, with the crab wontons coming in close second.

Our biggest complaint is actually on the seating. They have a weird booth/table structure that makes it really comfortable to have multiple adults in the booth corner. Our knees were touching the whole time and it felt very cramped.

Owners, if you’re reading this, just get chairs for your tables!! We won’t be back unless seating changes.

Very nice atmosphere and great location, however parking is extremely limited. Food was delicious, but the chefs need to slice the sushi rolls smaller. Darn near choked to death trying to eat my dinner. Servers could use improvements. They don't look around as they are walking through the dining room to see if any customers are trying to get their attention. Prices very reasonable. There were alot of people working, but they all have tunnel vision. Look around, kids. Peripheral vision is crucial when you're a server. Also, my appetizer (which was just steamed edamame) took so long to arrive, my sushi rolls came out moments later. That wasn't cool.

Belated review - we ate here on Valentine’s Day. I had made the reservation a month in advance, but for some reason, we were seated in an overflow area by the bar in plastic chairs. We also had to wait for 15 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Service was distracted the entire time. Rice was Chinese take out quality, and a lot of it, so you could barely taste any of the fish. They also added a credit card service fee without telling us in advance which was pretty distasteful. I don’t know of any restaurant in Milwaukee that charges extra for using a credit card with transactions greater than $10. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and won’t be returning.

We went to Screaming Tuna last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we had a fabulous experience. Ryan was our waiter and he was attentive and helpful in his recommendations. This is based on our experience at Mequon location. Food quality and preparation hit a new low Friday night. A take out order took 6 minutes to prepare. That means the rolls were pre made and sitting. Rice was partially cooked on some rolls and soggy on others. Even the salmon nigiri was inedible. There is no reason for the ridiculous prices of these dishes for the quality that they are. My friends and I went to dinner for the 3 of us the total was $101. We got 3 sushi rolls w 2 nigiri rolls, crab wontons, two soups and a chicken katsu. That is TAXING. The sushi was so so average for what it cost! I love chicken katsu and that is I dish I genuinely believe is hard to mess up but I did not care for the one here. For starters it cost $20 for a chicken katsu bowl. The chicken was fried like little chicken tenders and the sauce tasted like teriyaki not the traditional katsu sauce. I was bummed by this experience. You are better off taking a drive to try Fujiyama, Meiji’s Cuisine or any where else tbh.

I ordered the braised beef short rib, the boom boom shroom and the california. My friend ordered soicy salmon, philly and a few others i cant remember but were salmon based.

He enjoyed almost of his sushi & said it was perfect. Mine was delicious, especially the Boom Boom Shroom! Surprisingly delicious!!

The braised beef was so tender and perfect. The used a ume/purple potato which is a bit sweet. But the sauce on the plate balanced with the potatoes perfect and it all just flowed together in perfect delicious harmony. Yum!!

Please do not waste your time ordering for delivery from this restaurant. Apparently they do not know the difference between their menu items and will indeed screw up a 1-2 item order, even when given a second chance. Tried ordering a Noname roll (which was good) and a FRESH SPRING ROLL. Which, I might add is different from their VEGGIE SPRING ROLL because it had MEAT in it, but they can’t seem to tell the difference. Tried reordering the same item after getting a refund (thank you uber eats) and they somehow still managed to send the wrong item a second time. I guess it is not a necessity to know the items on their own menu. Please feel free to contact the customer next time if an item is unavailable so that they don’t waste an hour waiting for their meal. Also the avocado on the Veggie Spring Roll tasted disgusting. We had a 7:30 reservation to celebrate a birthday, and the hosts and server were incredibly hospitable and nice. The food and drinks were fantastic, including the several rolls recommended by the server. We had called ahead about bringing in an outside dessert due to a dietary restriction, and they advised us that we were not only allowed to bring it in, but that they would store it for us and even cut it for us! When it came time for dessert, we advised our server of the dessert that the hosts had stored for us in their fridge, and he not only cut it for us but also presented it on a platter with gorgeous handwriting and design on a platter saying Happy Birthday in a raspberry sauce. This was above and beyond all of our expectations! Our server was one of the best servers we have ever had at any restaurant and hope he is our server next time we dine in.

Thrilled to discover this delicious sushi restaurant accessible by public transport!
The location was BEAUTIFUL- our table was right next to the river with a view of the third ward.
Our server kept checking in on us and refilling our water.
As a Californian conscious about the climate impacts of fish and meat, I usually eat vegetarian but was overjoyed to see that Screaming Tuna serves Monterrey Bay Aquarium certified sustainable seafood which is such a rare find in the Midwest.
Screaming tuna had the best sushi I’ve had since moving to the Midwest! Rice was perfectly cooked and fish was flavorful (enough). Highly recommend. Such a fun and delicious experience!

Overall, the experience was decent, some pieces of fish were no the best quality and we did have an issue with the bill at the end, the server was kind in solving the issue. For the price, there is just better quality.

If you don't have respect for your time order from this place.
We called at 6 pm and ordered the food to be picked up at 7:15 pm.
It's now 8:21 pm and we are still waiting outside in the car.
If you can't serve more than a specific number of people you should stop taking orders.
That's how you lose customers.

We love the food here, but our experience on Valentine’s Day was disappointing. Don’t overbook reservations on a holiday! We had an 8:00 reservation and weren’t seated until 8:30, after my boyfriend had to go up and remind them that we were still waiting. Happened to a lot of other couples too. Our server was great, and the food/drinks were great. But if I make a reservation somewhere a month in advance, I expect to be accommodated for that reservation.

THE BEST MISO SOUP IN THE CITY!!! It was my first time there and we got the sushi for two. It was a nice variety but some of the fish was a little dry. Their signature roll is delicious. The server was great, but he had to tend to a large party in the back so we didn't see him for a while. He made up for it by giving us some of that wonderful miso soup to go as an anniversary gift! Great vibe in there and I'll be back.

Our family of 5 arrived at 6:10pm for 6:15 reservations. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. After waiting another 45 minutes with no food, we paid for our drinks and left. The waitress offered no apologies. While we sat there over an hour with no food, we saw 3 other tables sat after us served food. One was our waitress's friends who she immediately brought food. By immediately, it was under 5 minutes. She didn't come back to fill waters or ask for additional drinks. We had to find her and ask for more water and drinks. No attempt to make anything right. Waitress dropped off bill without saying a word. Haven't ever waited over an hour for sushi in any other restaurant. This was our first and last visit here. Disappointing when there are so many other great options in Milwaukee.

This sushi is mediocre at best - not worth the hype or price. I’ve been here twice and have tried at least 7 different rolls. Plenty of better sushi restaurants in town. Cute atmosphere but the food is just disappointing.

Made a reservation and was put at a bar table with bright lighting, plastic chairs, bad acoustics, the host phone ringing, etc. About thirty minutes after we ordered we were told that two 20-tops just put in their food and it would be another ten minutes (was twenty.) The miso soup and wonton appetizers were very good, but the Signature and Sold Out rolls were identically bland.
