We have tried this brewery on several separate occasions when we have come to whitewater and we have been disappointed in their beer every time. Their beers sound great and they have a great variety but they have an awful taste every time. I don’t know if they need to clean their lines or it’s just their beer. It’s just not good. We have not tried their food.

We got sat the 10 min later 4 guys get sat next to us. They took the guys order next to us. 5 min later a table of 8 sat behind us, 2 min later they took their order. After we were skipped 4 times ignoring us even wen I put my hand up. We waited 28 min for nothing. We left starving and drove to milton family resturaunt and got drinks immediately. We were in and out in 30 min. All wait staff were rude. Atmosphere rocked I am giving 1 star, if I could they would 0 or even -1. We only eat at local resuraunts. Do not go. Shame on them.

I have no idea what their food tastes like because my sister and I walked out before we even ordered drinks. The place is filthy. The menus were placed on the table and the table was so sticky the menus stuck to them. That is simply gross. We couldn’t stay.

Stopped in on a Sunday evening. Picked the corner of the bar. Daughter and I both had their strawberry seltzer. Pretty tasty and flavorful. We ordered the chicken finger basket to split. Fresh chicken, hand battered, four xlarge fingers and crispy fries. Would definitely be back to try some other options. Ambiance was low as it was end of the day, but I could see it being busy during the weekends while Whitewater is back in class.

This place was better in the beginning. I was a student at UWW when it first opened and it was an amazing place from then until the onset of COVID in 2020. Since then, the quality of the beer has taken a dive and has not been great since then. I was there this past Saturday and all of the beers I tried (except perhaps their spiced ale) had a weird off-flavor to them in addition to the tastes of the stout, the west coast IPA, etc. I speculate based on my own experience and the testimony of my peers that the culprit is either bad water or insufficiently cleaned tap lines. I do not know for sure though; this is pure speculation.
It's a shame. I feel like this place has the potential to be what it once was, perhaps better. The new game room looked promising, and the bartending staff seemed friendly enough. But IMO, the centerpiece of a brewpub like Second Salem is ultimately the beer, and right now, it just isn't up to par. I hope I can change this review sometime down the line and be able to give this place more stars.

What a fun and exciting experience! I visited with my friends and the restaurant was incredible. The service was wonderful and we had Sarah as our waitress. She was witty, funny, and communicative. The food was delicious. I had the Wisconsin burger with added lettuce and tomato with Brussels as a side. I also had an opportunity to try the cheese curds with my friends. Met our kids here for dinner on Friday and was grateful it was rather a quiet night. We ordered the deep fried cheese curds and brussel spouts which were generously portioned, and probably would have been enough if we weren't so hungry. Both came with delicious dipping sauces, which appeared to be homemade. My hubby had the house Old Fashioned and was quite happy with it.
I ordered a salad with chicken, hubby ordered the walleye. Again both had generous portions, and neither of us could finish. The ranch dressing with came with the salad was rich and delish. Breading on the walleye was light and crispy, enhancing the dish rather than detracting from it.
Our server, Grace, was outstanding and took great care of us. I believe we'll be eating here again soon.

Second Salem had delicious food. The beer cheese soup was one of the best we've ever had. The brussel sprouts and chicken tenders were good, but a little overcooked. The beer was hit and miss. Two of the beers tasted like they brewed the beer with a scorched element, which imbued a burnt flavor to the beer making it not very nice to drink. The three beers we enjoyed did not have that flavor. The blood orange had great use of fruit and was refreshing. The porter was a very good representation of the style. We hope they clean their element better and fix the problem of burnt flavoring since they make good beer.

The Hefeweizen was one of the best I've ever had and the Pilsner was a nice light pilsner solid 8/10. So bet you're wondering why only 4 overall stars? Well I made the mistake of trying a 3rd beer...the Beast of something Amber. I know beer taste is highly subjective but this was hands down the worst amber I have ever had (and it's usually my go-to style). It tasted like Old Milwaukee attempted an amber and poured a 1/2tsp of liquid smoke into it. Anyways overall GREAT experience but couldn't give a full 5 stars with a beer I hated so much. Wish there was a half star cause I do feel a bit harsh about it..

My husband and I were in earlier this week and we had Nolan as our server. He was absolutely FANTASTIC! It got busier and busier as we sat and he handled it like a champ, greeting everyone with a smile and answering all of my questions about drinks. We’ve never had a less than excellent experience here and when I called to compliment our server again, I was greeted by Tim who served us in the summer and delivered the same fantastic service and upbeat attitude. Beer was not good. When we walked to the door there was a strong smell of stale beer. My group ordered different beer and all of them were skunky. It tasted as if they had not cleaned their lines or equipment. The beer was just bad. Food and service were average. I'm a brewer and the number one thing you learn is keep your equipment clean. We came here because the name caught our attention. However, it is way too expensive for the quality of food and service! The building is in need of repair, the tables sticky and the food mediocre. I definitely expected better food for the price I paid! When we were brought to the table, it had not been cleaned and there was hair on the table. The food and service at this place is phenomenal. My whole family enjoyed. I loved the theme of the place and their beer list looks really amazing, with plenty of variety for all kinds of taste preferences.

And then... i ordered a flight and actually tasted the beer. My God. Their entire brewhouse very clearly has a bacterial infection either in their tap lines or in their fermenter. Every single beer had the same rancid taste of horrible gym socks. I was almost able to finish 5oz of the black IPA, as it's roasty flavors somewhat hid the acrid awfulness. The other two IPAs and the radler were so rancid, I couldn't get past two sips.

I am a brewer myself, and have many many friends that home brew. We've all made mistakes and gotten infections. But all of us would be ashamed to even let someone taste beer this bad. You just dump it, clean your systems, and start over. I'm aghast that the head brewer and management here are even trying to serve this to the public.

After getting over my shock, i looked around and everyone clearly knows. All the locals were drinking liquor, and of the 4 other tables that ordered beer, I saw not one single person finish theirs.

Customers considering visiting: Pretend it's a restaurant with no beer. Enjoy the food, and order a cocktail if you must imbibe. You'll have a good time.

Second Salem Managment: Clean your brewhouse for the love of god. Don't serve beer you wouldn't drink yourself. I know that dumping entire batches really sucks for your bottom line. But it can't be worse than ruining your entire brand and reputation. I only came to your restaurant because of your beer list, and I feel beyond bamboozled.

First time visit, we were made to feel very welcome. Ideal service - friendly & helpful, took good care of us & let us chill & chat a good long while. Best waitress ever! We came for the beer & witch themed atmosphere both of which are RAD. Food was yummy, fried avocado tacos were my favorite, Parmesan fries & salmon BLT were quite good too. We were in the area hiking on the Ice Age trail and decided to come here because it was on Mammoth Hike Challenge Whitewater Trail Community Itinerary and we saw that other reviews had mentioned vegan/vegetarian food. Was there with a group of 15. The guy that greeted us.... didn't really greet us. He said we would have to sit outside because the Whitewater football game was going to start soon and the bar was going to start soon and he wanted to save the bar for local fans. He was completely rude in dealing with us. The fans barely showed up. Our money spends just the same and it should have been 1st come 1st serve.
The October fest was off. It just didn't taste right. And their IPA tasted like it had soap in it. When we asked for something else the guy completely handled it negatively.

We thought any place featuring a Witch motif would be able to offer vegan/vegetarian fare...why those two go together, I don't know. I don't think witches are noted for eating vegan, but I believe Wiccans are generally understanding, compassionate people so we took a chance. Superb Hummus Platter! In fact, I'd go as far as saying it was the best Hummus Platter I've ever seen. Not just a small bowl of hummus with pita slices around it.  A HUGE plate of hummus with an even larger plate of assorted marinated veggies for dipping. Then they had Beyond Burgers on the menu...um...YES! The burgers come with lettuce, tomato and avocado, but no ketchup or mustard or pickle. Fries were good. Our lone vegetarian ordered the Margherita Flatbread and it was quite large, definitely meant for sharing amongst 2 or more people and he said it was super duper good. But it had cheese on it, so he had to eat the whole thing. And he did. My salad had the best balsamic dressing I've ever had because it wasn't sweet. I hate sweet dressings, and this was perfect. It was a giant salad and I cleaned that plate. One of us ordered the brussels sprouts and she said they were delicious. Beers were good too. The glasses had their cool witch logo on it, and one in our group left with a t-shirt from the place. The only knock I have against this place is that their tables are made with pipes that are placed at just the right position for you to bang your knees into as you sit down. Our waitress was vegan! So I didn't have to spend a lot of time explaining stuff - she understood immediately what our needs were, and she was attentive and so nice. We ordered so much food that our bill was over $100 for three of us. WORTH IT!

Fun decor and art. The food was wonderful. I don't think I can accurately review the service because I was there for a Celebration of Life and I don't think they were prepared for such a large group. It was over an hour wait between arriving, ordering and receiving food. There were only two waitresses for our group and they struggled to keep orders straight. Very friendly and unique ladies that just seemed overwhelmed. Food came out hot, just not all at the same time. I had the Wisconsin Burger with the beer cheese soup and I highly recommend it. I tried my son's Mac and Cheese and that was also tasty. Food is five stars. We came this past weekend with a large group (30 people). We called to make sure they could accommodate us and they were great! Friendly service, the beer was good, and for as large as our group was, it was quick! The food was outstanding!! We had wings, cheese curds, burgers, chicken sandwiches and the salmon BLT (to name a few things). Not a single complaint from any of us. Very pleased and if we're in the area again, we'll definitely stop by.

I used to go here all the time. The food was good but then went downhill. They cut their menu and raised prices. I used to come in and get wings every week, then they were clearly smaller than before and higher price. Poor customer service. Seems like owner only cares about the brewery part and not restaurant.

I used to love this place. The last few times we have gone it seems to be getting worse. Today was our last time there. It was terrible! The beer was bad. It had a funny taste to them, like they did not clean the lines out properly. This is probably the first time my husband and I sent back a beer and then left the replacement at the table. I cannot believe I could not even finish my beer it was so bad. I have been drinking their beers for years and know what they should taste like. Now onto the food. They charge $14 for a pound of wings. 8 small wings is nowhere near a pound. The WI burgers were also a rip-off. The patties keep getting smaller and there was not any cheese curds on my burger. If you are going to skimp on quality you cannot raise the price as high as you have. Unfortunately, I will not be back and this makes me so sad because I used to love this place.

I go to trivia most Thursday's which is enjoyable. We normally get appetizers to share among the table, which were good but have been getting worse. We also recently started getting a meal as well and for the past two weeks I have ordered a medium rare burger and it has come out well done. Every burger that was ordered came out well done which was a disappointment all around. In addition when I did the build your own burger the toppings were minimal.

Was very excited to get to this place. Food was good and some of the beer was good. Did have a few beers in the flight as well as a pint I bought that had a slight off taste. Don’t know if it was the lines or what….just was not as enjoyable. Service was nice and atmosphere was cool. Love the theme and beer artwork.

Always an amazing staff above all. Super friendly always willing to chat if it's slow or you're feeling chatty but when I've wanted to sit there and eat they've let me be. Can't say that for so many places. The food is great. Big pub style burgers that are so good. Mac Monday is awesome.

And of course being a brewery can't forget the beers. I've had a number over the years. All very good. Love the house amber (beast of bray road). The Golden (old main) and coffee porter (wytches brew) are really good. Haven't tried the hazy (apparition) that's the next trip down.

Stopped in after a round of golf. Unassuming from the outside, but great vibe inside. Small but comfy brewer with a great bar and TV to watch the Match Madness games today. Our bartender was very friendly and had great suggestions about the beers to try. Great selection of probably about a dozen in house craft beers to choose from. Got a burger as well which was very good. I will definitely be back
