Seven Acres brought their incredible "Friday Night Outdoor Fish Fry" to an off-site work event I hosted last week. The food was INCREDIBLE. The event attendees were continuing to rave about it the next day, saying it was the best fish fry they've ever had. The mac n' cheese got many shout-outs too. :) Nic and his team were professional, kind, on-time, and true rockstars. Would gladly have them prepare another dinner for a future event.

There is zero consistency with the size of the soft serve portions. Tonight I ordered a single cone and was given a kiddie with the server insisting that was what I ordered. No joke it could not have been much more ice cream than the sample I received in line. Even my fiancés single was on the small side for a $5 cone. I’ve had issues with this in the past but tonight was too much not to right a review. The review is 2 stars because we really do enjoy going and the flavors are outstanding but dear lord, this is Wisconsin, work on your portions.

UPDATED:
We visited this restaurant again after having a rough experience earlier in the summer, and I’m so glad we gave it another try. The staff went above and beyond to make things right, treating us to a dinner that completely turned our opinion around.
The service was absolutely phenomenal—warm, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. The food was delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared, with portion sizes that felt just right.
It’s clear they truly care about their guests and the experience they provide. We left full, happy, and very impressed. Thank you for restoring our confidence—we’ll definitely be back!
We recently attended a pop-up event hosted by Little Cloud at Seven Acres, and while there were some high points, the overall experience didn’t quite match the price point or our expectations.
We booked the event for four people at $500, excited to enjoy a surprise tasting menu — we love immersive dining experiences and weren’t concerned about not knowing the courses in advance. However, communication beforehand was frustrating. I reached out multiple times by phone and email to confirm whether the event was indoors or outdoors, but received no response. It wasn’t until we arrived that we learned it was being held inside.
Seating was first-come, first-served, and the setup included only four- and six-top tables. This created a bit of a scramble at the start, as groups of four had to move quickly to avoid being split up or seated with strangers — not ideal for a ticketed, pre-paid event.
Once seated, we were offered a $40 wine pairing add-on, which we opted into (three of four of us). The pours, however, were very small — essentially tasting portions — and only included four of the five courses. The most disappointing moment came with the final wine: two of us received less than a tasting pour, and when I brought it to the staff’s attention, the bartender seemed annoyed and said they were out of wine. Eventually, he offered a pour of port as a replacement, which we appreciated, but the interaction left a sour note on the evening.
As for the food, several courses were truly delicious, and the creativity behind the menu was apparent. That said, some portions were surprisingly small given the price tag, and the final course was missing multiple components listed on the printed menu — a detail that didn’t go unnoticed.
This event had a lot of potential, and we were hoping for a more polished, elevated experience, especially at this price point. With better communication, attention to consistency, and a bit more hospitality in the details, future pop-ups could really shine.

We booked our stay based on an article about the converted creamery published in Midwest Living magazine. We weren’t disappointed. The room was exceptionally nice, the staff that we met were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed 2 nights but only ate breakfast there. The fruit and fresh yogurt were very good. The bucolic surroundings were very relaxing. The only slightly negative comment I would have is the tall weeds near the entrance to the rooms. It’s a first impression as you arrive. I think the effect was meant to be native plants but weeds had taken over.

What an amazing property! We didn't have a chance to experience a majority of the services provided on site, as we were there for the evening checking out their music series at The Gathering Place, but we are more than sold on returning to experience it all!
Horseshoes and Hand Grenades put on a great show, and the natural amphitheater was packed! There were people of all ages. Some in their lawn chairs, others utilizing some of the benches and tables provided by the venue, and then there were the swings, where kids were able to enjoy there time beyond running around to the sounds of some amazing tunes.
If you havent given this place a thought, youre missing out!

Three of us loved our entrees; the pasta was over salted. I had called ahead to make sure they had gluten free crackers (for the sheep cheese and the maple butter appetizers) and was told they had them. Alas, they didn't and so I ate the spreads on their apple slices. Not great.

What a sweet surprise as first visit. Neat history of the place, very pretty property on the smaller river. The food was so freshly made and delicious. Wonderful service and atmosphere. Highly recommend for any occasion. Plenty of outdoor spaces and ample seating available.
Huge potential if this space for community engagement as property is located on a large piece of land.

We certainly enjoyed our stay and loved the dairy theme! A bit pricey, but the room was large and clean. The cookies were a nice touch. The bar closed fairly early unfortunately, but we enjoyed a cocktail prior in the park across the creek which also had live music. The outside was a bit disorganized with outdoor furniture not clean, wet, and toss around. The dairy shop was an enjoyable experience, and we bought some delicious cheese to take home.

We had such a an amazing visit and stay at the Inn. We stayed in the Sugar River Suite, and it was fantastic. I loved the idyllic view of the river. We ate dinner at Little Cloud (for date night on Sunday) and enjoyed it. The soft serve ice cream and breakfast sandwich in the cafe were also excellent! My husband said he didn't think he liked soft serve until he tried this one - definitely the best in recent memory! The service was superb. The beds were super comfy, and I enjoyed the Lather bath products. We had a great time walking around the area, finding cute shops, farmers market, music, and nice spots to relax. I would highly recommend for a very relaxing retreat!

We stopped into the restaurant for an early dinner. Our meal was quite good, and the staff was friendly. We also enjoyed listening to the music in the "The gathering place". Unfortunately, after paying a couple hundred dollars for this experience that weekend, i was also charged an additional 22 dollars a week later, for no reason i can discern. I have called the restaurant and the accoutning office several times and they said they would get back to me. This is two weeks later and i have heard nothing from them. Incredibly poor customer service. This is making me reconsider ever coming back.

Went there for lunch and was a bit disappointed. Overall Atmosphere was really good and community was adorable. Service was terrible. Food showed up inconsistently and had to end up getting our own drinks we ordered towards the end of meal despite asking several times. Had to ask for all condiments and that was also inconsistent timing. Prices were a little high and menu was very limited with choices and overall underwhelmed with quality of choices for food. Ice cream was good.

We came for Sunday brunch in a large party of 13. Seating was very nice, the waitress attentive. However, many items that were advertised were not available. I requested black tea, and they were out, so I had chai. It came in a mesh bag that was open, so all the spices and tea had migrated into my cup. It was tasty, even though I had to pick tea leaves out from between my teeth. Then I went to order breakfast. I requested French toast. Sadly, they were out of French toast, although how they could give toasted bread with their other orders escapes me. I cannot eat eggs ( mixed with pancakes or inside of French toast is tolerated), so I ordered a medium rare hamburger. It came to me medium well. It tasted good, but I really miss that pink in the middle and the extra juiciness inside. I then wanted a mimosa, which I got fairly promptly, but they added my bill for that to another member of our group( semi separate checks), so we had to figure that out. Some meals came to a few people early, others came late when most of the party was nearly finished.
I think the place is lovely, their food good, not great, but they were very disorganized, and I will admit to being quite disappointed.

This is the third time we’ve tried Seven Acre Dairy because we keep hoping our experience will be different, but unfortunately we’ve had service challenges on all visits. First, the positives: the food is good and the chefs have been apologetic on all visits. The challenges: the first time we visited was for dinner. We watched the food sit under the warmer for at least 15 minutes, and when it arrived, it was no longer fresh. The second two visits were for lunch. We walked in and it seemed like someone was going to seat us but then we figured out we order from the counter. I would suggest a sign. On both lunch visits there were numerous unbused tables. It appears the person working the counter is the one taking orders, cleaning up, and delivering food. Unfortunately this does not work given that both times it got busy with orders and our food sat. Today we went up to the window and got it ourself. If minimizing staff is key I suggest just calling out numbers and having folks clean their own tables so that delays don’t happen. The staff appears to be trying but unfortunately just not enough staff for the current set up. We will keep trying but attention to detail is needed.

I was blown away by the fish fry buffet on July 4th. Amazing ingredients, so delicious and great service! Shout out to the bartender, Sway—he was such a down the earth dude and super funny! My family and I had a lovely time. I wish management would invest in some citronella candles out on the table outside and at the bar because it’s summer and we know how the bugs get. Anyway, I can’t wait to go back! The sugar river adds such a special element to the ambiance.

We were 3 women on a getaway and unfortunately we were later getting to the hotel than planned. When I tried to call to say we were running late it only connects to an answering machine. My only complaint of the visit!
Once we arrived we were catered to with the kitchen being able to accommodate making us dinner even though it was almost closing time. The meal was phenomenal!
Our room - The Sugar River Suite was amazing and exploring the creamery, the store, the grounds the next morning confirmed we need to come back again.
Nic, the owner was personable and Debbie - part of the family was a very nice hostess showing us areas of the hotel and stories of the history.
The staff were all very pleasant and the Creamery cashier, barista was flying solo but still able to keep everyone’s orders on time. Rockstar 🤩
We can’t wait to come back in the fall!

Had an absolutely fantastic stay! The remodeled rooms are not only gorgeous, but incredibly comfortable! The whole establishment is clean, and the staff are very accommodating. There is a wonderful outdoor patio and seating area along the sugar river! Additionally, there is a nice gift/coffee/ice cream shop where you can purchase souvenirs. There is also a free coffee station within this shop for guests staying at the hotel. There are a few nice gift shops throughout the town as well as a pub that offers bar fare. It is also minutes away from New Glarus! I will most certainly plan to stay here again in the future!

We went for the outdoor Friday fish buffet and I have to say it was very good. The fish was fried fresh and the coleslaw, fruit, mac and cheese, and potato salad were tasty. We absolutely loved our stay at Seven Acre Dairy and would recommend to anyone for a little couple or family getaway. Came across Paoli and the Dairy on Instagram and we were looking for an extended weekend getaway for us and our toddler. Perfect atmosphere. Debbie called ahead to make sure we knew our room was ready should we arrive early, the GM (Nick or Nate? Maybe I’m so sorry I don’t remember his name) was an absolute gem. The restaurant, creamery were all great. I would say the ONLY downfall was that things close down at 5 for shops and 8 for restaurants during the week and most things aren’t open til 8-10. Not a dealbreaker for us with a toddler whose bedtime is before 8. So relaxing and a GREAT alternative to staying in the city but still being an easy driving distance.

Update: I went back for brunch. It was.. rough.
We didn't see our waiter (David R) for 10 minutes after being seated. After placing our orders, We didn't see him again for another 8, after which he came by because he "didn't catch our drink order." He did have a pad of paper when he took our order, so I'm not sure how that happened, when he repeated it back to my wife after she placed it.
We found a dead fluit fly in our water carafe. Poor buddy wasn't moving, so he was in there a decent amount of time. We got a new carafe, but had to keep our fly-water glasses.
Cinnamon rolls were ...fine. Not blowing me away, but good enough that I ate them. Gravy had flavor this time, which was a marked improvement
Wife got the blueberry stuffed french toast. It was not stuffed. The blueberries had an odd taste to them, more like craisins. Some of her slices were cold. Her drink was more wine than mimosa, which is fine for some people.
Maybe dinner is better? Maybe we just pick the worst items on the menu? But still, service was lacking. I went out of my way to give them another shot and only left wishing I hadn't.
Original Review:
Went for Easter brunch. It was...fine. Honestly pretty underwhelming.
Our table was a tiny 2-top wedged between a half-booth and another table, to the point where the person sitting against the wall was unable to get into their seat unless someone from either the booth or the table sat up. The seat opposite them was hugging a pillar that made it impossible to use their left hand effectively (my wife is left-handed). There was no room to move the table. I get the feeling they overbooked and our "table" wasn't meant to be on it's own, considering it was missing salt and pepper as well, while other tables had it.
The food was...bland. I had nearly everything from the breakfast buffet, and it was all rather plain. The gravy for the biscuits and gravy had no flavor, just a flat goop. The eggs were what I would expect from a hotel breakfast. Sausage and bacon are hard to mess up.
The soft-serve was served in freshly washed glassware. Which made it melt quickly. I had chocolate dripping down my fingers by the time I got back to my table. I'd say a quarter of it turned into ice cream soup by the time I finished eating.
The cheeses were okay. Nothing amazing. The pastries were lackluster. Some were mislabeled.
We barely had our server check in with us, despite them having and frequently visiting the tables next to us. When they did visit, they were often gone before I could say anything.
I might be back for a normal dinner? I'm not sure, probably not. I wasn't satisfied, especially with what we paid for it, and if a planned event goes so poorly for me, what will a normal day bring?

The food here was below average and lacked flavor. We went for a celebration for a college graduation. The food was served outdoors buffet style. The burger was dry and lacked flavor. The sausage was dry and again lacked flavor. The salads put out had no dressing. The mac and cheese I've had better in a box from the supermarket. I felt bad for the people who invited us and paid a pretty penny to host us. We had a cup of ice cream and again I've had better store bought. It's harsh, but I'm not going to soften the review as it was not good. The location is beautiful. I would not go back. Do better.

Great location/atmosphere- it was cool out back but they just be redoing GM all that as it was a bit of a mess. Parking lot can be muddy. The food is reasonably good but priced like it’s a 4 star restaurant when it’s a 3-. It reminds me of grey goose - priced high to convince big spenders it’s better when it’s not. The ice cream, sadly, is not that good. For some reason they have a gift shop - I’m not understanding why. And I have no idea why anyone would want to stay there overnight.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Seven Acre Dairy Company. Our room had such character and the immense window was impressive; its room darkening remote controlled shade was appreciated! The high ceilings, a reminder of the days when the building was a dairy manufacturer, were so unique.
We had appetizers and a drink at The Kitchen when we arrived in town Saturday afternoon, which happened to be during the brunch hours, and enjoyed the food and the music. After a coffee in the room Sunday morning, I stepped over to the attached Cafe to get lattes and an excellent fresh baked muffin for in the room. Sunday brunch, again with the pleasant music, was delicious.
Our accommodations were very comfortable and the staff in the inn and in the restaurants were very friendly and efficient.
If we are in the area, we would love to visit Paoli and the motel again!

The best!! Went for sauna brunch, and turns out it was also jazz brunch with live music. Such a lively and comfortable atmosphere with rich history and richer food. The house eggs Benedict were the best I’ve ever had and the coffee martini was perfectly balanced. We also tried the cinnamon role and it was LIFE CHANGING with airy, buttery icing and the perfect fluffy but also sugar-crunchy texture. Only took 20 minutes to get there from downtown Madison and was so, so worth the trip. I’ll definitely be back!!!

We didn’t go in the guest rooms but have seen them before and love the unique artistry. Service for lunch today was phenomenal. Our server and her identified trainee and filled our water. They were prompt & checked on us throughout the meal. It was busy in there but we were never rushed. Jack the manager stopped over a couple of times to check on the table. The server recommended the Huevos Rancheros. I was kinda hoping for a lunch item so was leaning towards their burger. I was told you can never go wrong with either. I went for the recommended Huevos. Wow! Delicious, fresh jalapeños, pickled onions…hmmmm it was great! Glad I listened. Others at our table got the poutine and it was massive. Not sure everyone else’s orders but good portions and everyone left happy. Would highly recommend. Du ch a cool vibe and atmosphere…pro tip save some room for their ice cream.

We’re so grateful to have been a part of the Frost to Flower dinner series - still in awe of this delicious event with Josh McFadden. Kuddos to the owners, your entire staff (hi Rand!), and the community for building a culture of collaboration.

We went to the Mardi Gras buffet at Seven Acre last night and had an amazing time. The food was just incredible. However, the staff went way above and beyond and helped us get our car unstuck from the mud after the event! David with the staff personally stood out in the pouring rain with us and attached ropes to our car and pulled it out with his truck. It was so kind and really spoke to his values and to Seven Acres as a business. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dinner experience!

My friend and I went to Seven Acres for dinner during Valentine's Day week, and it was an unforgettable experience. The food was absolutely fantastic; every dish was a perfect balance of flavors and beautifully presented. However, the highlight of the evening was sitting at the chef's counter. It offered a unique and intimate experience, allowing us to watch the culinary team work up close. Chef Byron and our server David went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, adding personal touches that truly elevated the entire evening. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

This is a treasure south of Madison, WI. I saw Seven Acre on the cover of Midwest Living Magazine before the holidays and was intrigued. It did not disappoint. The staff is friendly, the food amazing. This is a must stop for anyone looking for a quick get away or an exceptional dinner out!!

My husband and I had an unforgettable Valentine's weekend at Seven Acre Dairy Company. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family, and it exceeded all expectations. The innkeeper thoughtfully called to check on us due to the snowstorm we encountered on our way, and we were so relieved to arrive safely. Our room was a dream—spacious, beautifully designed, and featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that framed the stunning natural landscape perfectly.
We had an incredible time at the bar with Sway, where Jack, the manager, and owner Nick made us feel welcome with their warmth and genuine hospitality. We truly appreciated their kindness throughout our stay. Our Valentine's dinner at the chef's table was an absolute highlight, with delicious food, delightful conversation, and thoughtful special touches. Our only regret is that we don't live closer, but rest assured, we’ll be back!

We enjoyed a unique overnight in an historic landmark building. Comfy and eclectic; our host was most gracious, showed us around and gave us the history of our one-of-a-kind room. Situated in a charming small town and right at the river's edge. Perfect! We will be repeat customers often.

Love the Seven Acre Dairy Company! We highly recommend this place for a comfy stay in an historic landmark building. The charming small town of Paoli WI is a favorite destination of ours, and now the Inn at the Seven Acre Dairy Company will be as well.
We'll be going back when the dining room is open! Thanks to the Innkeepers for such a great experience!

Housed in the historic Paoli Creamery building, and having done MASSIVE restoration and renovation work, this spot is probably my favorite place in the ENTIRE state of WI. The owner, Nic, is VERY active in building community around his business, and the recent Christkindlmarket was a HUGE success. The rooms are all original, and are in different, specific rooms of the creamery. My wife and I stayed in the Creamery Room, where, looking out through a HUGE window that used to be a door, you can see the entire front landscape of the building. This room is where the dairy trucks would back in, and the milk would be pumped off the truck, down to the various operations areas of the creamery. On top of ALL of this -- top notch amenities, an amazing story, community building events -- one of the coolest things 7Acres does is host guest chefs in the winter and early spring months. We went to both Hank Shaw dinners, and it was an AMAZING experience. If you ever need an incredible night (or two, or three!) buy tickets for a Frost-to-Flowers event, and stay a night. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience. And I got to cross off a bucketlist item -- meeting one of my all-time favorite Chefs.

We attended the Frost to Flower dinner series Seven Acres. We had the pleasure of experiencing chef Nico Albert Williams’ culinary masterpieces on 01/10/2025. After my first bite, I said “Wow!” I didn’t stop saying wow all through the meal. Chef Williams is a true artist with flavor profiles and plating. Even the corn and potato chowder was beautiful to look at! I got upset when I got full because I wanted to keep eating! Lol! I can’t wait to explore more chefs during this even. I also have to mention the exceptional service. I wish I could remember our server’s name. She was perfect and very sweet.

My wife & I went for a getaway after having a houseful over the Christmas holidays. Had plans to maybe go into Madison to explore but we were so relaxed at The Inn, we never left! Wandered the little shops & walked around the property.
The food was unexpectedly great! My wife enjoyed her halibut dish so much, she had it both nights. The live jazz music at Sunday brunch was very nice.
Will highly recommend to one & all! Thanks!

The real test of service is how a mistake or challenge is handled and these folks nailed it. One in our party was in a wheelchair. Prior arrangements for main floor seating for the holiday brunch buffet had been made and double checked, but on the day of, there seemed to be an internal miscommunication and it was not available. We were offered seating at our reservation time in a room that required use of the elevator for every trip to the buffet, which was an unsatisfactory solution for us, but had we been on a strict timeline, could’ve worked. We were given the option to wait and we took it. We ended up waiting 30 minutes, but the staff checked in regularly, made sure we had a drink, and got us a table as quickly as they could. The apologies were genuine and servers and folks staffing the buffet were welcoming and friendly. The food and drinks were phenomenal! Would absolutely recommend to anyone!

I was here two weeks ago. My Fiancé emailed the owner to try and solve things privately, but we never received a response.
I made a reservation for brunch for 6 two weeks in advance for 2pm. Reservation was confirmed. Host called us the day of at 1:10pm that our table would be ready at 1:30pm. We live in Madison, so this was not enough time to plan ahead. I apologized, but we would be there at our reservation time. Host said "okay" and hung up.
We arrived at our reservation time. Ordered drinks. (I only gave 2 stars because the bloody Mary was really good) And went up and got food from the buffet. Food was cold. And then as we were eating were told by the waiter that we had to be done by 2:40pm to close the restaurant for dinner.
If they needed us to be done eating in 40 minutes, I'm not sure why they accepted the reservation for 2pm or didn't call me within the 2 weeks to offer me a different time.
I don't think $80 for a rushed cold brunch was worth it.

My wife, daughter, and I had a most enjoyable dinner; in fact, it was the final meal of their fall culinary experience, where they brought in guest chefs, who prepared special menus that focused on local ingredients. We wish we had participated sooner! Since then, my wife and I have had both lunch and brunch, both wonderful. The restaurant is located on the Sugar River in a rustic setting. Finding parking was a bit inconvenient (the parking lot was full); however, that was the only criticism I can make (and the bit of extra walking was good for me, anyway).|As for the hotel, my wife and I intend to stay for a few days, probably during the summer next year, as Paoli offers so many outside, fun activities.|In short, we fully anticipate returning to Seven Acre Dairy Company.
