We stopped. In for after dinner cocktails and dessert. The cocktails were expertly executed, the homemade desserts were outstanding, and the service was excellent. We plan a return visit for dinner in the near future. We highly recommend this place for a meal prepared with fresh ingredients and creative combinations.

Wonderful food in a calm, relaxing atmosphere without being pretentious. A real surprise in a small town. I had a daily special soup of white bean and sausage in a tomato based sauce that was thick and rich, perfectly done. My husband had a tender cut of beef with chimichurri sauce over rice with root vegetables. Both were delicious.
Staff was kind and knowledge about the food.
Full bar, appropriate drink specials paired well with the food as well as mocktails.

Went on Wednesday which is BOGO glasses of wine. Ordered the Ferel Burger. It was delicious. The appetizer menu looked amazing but I was alone so nobody to share with.

Our first time and we were surprised this place wasn't packed. Some of the best food at reasonable prices in the entire Northwoods. We started with a shrimp cocktail which is the best we've had in Minocqua and then we had their Wisconsin fondue which we will come back just for that again. Then we decided to share the salmon Bowl which we weren't sure we could dmake room for, but it was so outstanding there wasn't a bite left. We can't wait to come back and we've already recommended it to many of our friends. We talked to our waitress about spacing and timing of the different dishes which was the only suggestion we had to the restaurant. A definite 10 out of 10! Or in Google's case a 5 out of 5.

Great find in Woodruff! We love stopping at the Rocky Reef Brewing Co and now we found the perfect place to get food at near by. (My husband said the atmosphere inside Skal was great though, so no need to only carry out!) We got the Tuna, dates and burnt ends. Really great!

First time, staff was awesome. Food was excellent. Small plates are a great conversational starter for two couple's. We had 4 small plates the special appetizer and a salmon bowl shared by all along with desserts. Oh and don't forget the cocktails.

Skal blew us away! The atmosphere was cozy yet upscale, and the service was top-notch—friendly, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed. We started with the Duck Bacon Wontons (amazing!) and loved the Maple Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop and Pan-Seared Walleye—both cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Don’t skip the roasted Brussels sprouts or the Crème Brûlée for dessert! Every detail was spot on. Highly recommend for a memorable night out in the Northwoods!

What a great new find! We went in for drinks and appetizers. Our group enjoyed creative craft cocktails, a delicious smoked salmon appetizer, and lightly breaded butterflied shrimp entree. The server was very friendly and delightful, as well as the other staff. A nice change from the typical pub fare.

Great new restaurant! Atmosphere has a welcoming vibe! The wait staff totally up to par! Happy and smiling. The food…..extremely easy menu not 600 things to pick from. Plus it is completely different from anything in the north woods. The drink menu is authentic. Oh and let me tell you the desserts are to die for.

Although only open a few weeks, Skal is doing a fantastic job. Beautiful decor, attentive and knowledgeable staff, and wonderfully prepared, delicious food. Save room for dessert as they are all homemade in-house. An excellent, unique experience in the Minocqua/Woodruff area that should be on your short list of favorites when you vacation in the area.

I got lucky when the place I first went to was closed for a private event and a quick Google search landed me here. Only a couple of weeks open and they are still finding their legs but big promise here. The bartender was the best I've had in years, really. The cocktails were well done. I had a Northern Lights which is way out of my comfort zone and loved it. For a starter I had the fondue and while I liked the flavors the execution was clunky... the cheese needs to be saucier and I didn't love the presentation. The steak bowl was good and was well executed. I left feeling lucky to have found this place while pivoting from another choice and feel my money was better spent here! Neat spot & best wishes.

The menu is small, but DELICIOUS. We had the bacon wrapped dates, smoke salmon and their soup that day, it was a mushroom Brie soup and it was fabulous! Highly recommend

Found a New Lively Restaurant with Tasty Food!

We needed a place up here with more than just food that comes out of the frier.

Skal has a nice menu with a Scandinavian flare. My wife and I shared 4 plates…The bacon wrapped dates, caprese salad, smoked salmon dip and the steak bowl. All were excellent. The drinks were fun as well. Many profiled some Scandinavian liquors.

On this Friday night, the live music started at 7 PM. It was nice and the music wasn’t so loud that we couldn’t continue our conversations with others.

The Sonder women seemed to be an emerging force on the local restaurant scene. Suggest trying this place before the word gets out. I mean, this place was packed and I don’t think they have been open 2 weeks.

This is a needed culinary niche in the Northwoods. Not the usual fare with inventive speciality cocktails. We enjoyed the bacon wrapped dates with goat cheese and the smoked salmon dip. We also brought home some soups to enjoy for lunch. All were delicious. We each had a speciality cocktail: Swede Summer and a Buckthorn Berry Old Fashioned. The wait staff and bartender could not have been more friendly and all who were there on a rainy Tuesday evening seemed to be having a great time. It’s not large, so reservations might become important on the weekends. It was nice to pop in for cocktails and appetizers, but we’ll be back for dinner soon!

I don’t know what the decor was before, but they did an outstanding job with the interior, service ware and lighting! A wonderful gem in Woodruff!

What a cool little spot in Woodruff! The food was very tasty and different but it is not a supper club, so if you are looking for a big meal this might not be the place. However, there are so many delicious appetizers and the salmon bowl was amazing! Would definitely recommend!
