For today’s fish fry , I will give it low ratings, The waitress was one of the worst, the usual waitresses were off , and SLOs sure missed them , They were busy tonight, we understand that , but finally got seated , and no waitress waited came to us for at least 15 minutes, and that was after we asked the hostess, than we saw waitresses arguing about who takes our table , when she did come she was extremely unpleasant, sorry we didn’t leave than , she took our order , and we waited and waited for our food , than we saw two tables that came in after us get served, we saw another waitress point to our table and finally realized our problem ,The bartender was helping , and she was great , and apologized for the wait , Finally our food came and two of our orders were wrong , most of our food was not hot ,like it usually comes form SLO’s, Mary had the orders wrong also, I know what we ordered , and she was not pleasant to deal with, This was the first bad experience here, if we ever walk in again we will leave if this waitress is working!!!

Two couples came for a Friday fish fry. We arrived early (430) to avoid a wait and were seated immediately. By 5 the crowds arrived so we were happy we got there early. Two had the fried haddock, one the baked haddock and one the walleye. Each had five pieces of fish choice of potatoes, coleslaw, and bread. Unfortunately, bones were found in the walleye. Everyone enjoyed their food, and most took some home. I would suggest they offer two different size portions as five pieces were more than we could finish, and it's not as good reheated.
Our server was very nice and helpful, explaining the choices with the meal. She also made a great recommendation for an appetizer (onion tanglers ).

Service is terribly slow. Takes forever to get seen let alone for the food to arrive. The name is very fitting. If you come here and have plans after just cancel them. The food is pretty subpar even for their cheap prices. Only redeeming quality is the lake view.

We did pick up. (Stayed at Big Arb Resort's "Grandma's House", adjacent to Slo's.)
The jalapeño poppers were great - best I've ever had. Red peppers made for a good hot.
The Friday fish fry IS only on Friday. (I was hoping for the pan-fried walleye as we didn't catch any, but no dice on Saturday eve.)
Friday eve/late afternoon had a lot of bikers (Harley's) stopping by. Several groups ("gangs"?) at different times.
4 of our family had the main pub-burger and they thought they were good.
My sister thought the coconut shrimp basket was great.

Slo's is "THE" most dependable bar/restaurant within 90 miles. Patrons/guests never have to play the "are they open" or "are they closed" game like with almost every other bar/restaurant in the area. I have been going to this establishment for over 40 years and yes that pre-dates the bar's name but I cannot recall the previous owner(s). Slo's is one of my top 5 all time spots in the northwoods. There was a time when the Thirsty Whale was my most recommended spot but that ended in the last 5 years when the Thirsty Whale went down the drain with food/service/friendliness.

The hostess and rest of the staff were extremely pleasant this place was suggested by a local for their Wednesday night specials and we were not disappointed. 1st time ever there 3 of us went for the Smelt all you can eat. Unfortunately, it was terrible. Not one of us could eat it. The fish was barely battered and limp not Krispy in a sense of the word. And extremely fishy tasting. We asked for new ones Krispy. And they took our old ones and threw them back in the fryer we were told. Needless to say, it didn't make a difference it was just terrible. We didn't eat any of it. The waitress was very aware that nothing was taken off the bill. The sad part to get home the animals wouldn't eat it either. 2 dogs and cats and neither would touch it. I Wouldn't recommend going for the food at all. It was a waste of money, time, and driving. Sorry, I wish I could have given a better review. I don't like leaving bad reviews. I wish I could have given a nicer one. But that wasn't our experience, Unfortunately.

Have been here many times throughout the years. Usually very good. However, we were there 3 weeks ago and ordered pizza. Peppperoni and sausage was literally thrown on top, in a pile, and NO flavor. …… so no more pizza from Slo’s. Another chance??? We were there a few days ago. Two people in our group ordered the Patty Melt. Horrible. Precooked burgers, overdone, no flavor. It was inedible. Took the meat home for the dog. The photos say it all. Sorry Slo’s …. We won’t be back.

Our waitress was great, super friendly the entire time. However, there was a sound issue (blasting music). Our waitress kindly asked one of the bartenders to turn it down and the bartender was extremely rude about it. After the waitress left, the bartender spoke poorly about the waitress to the customers at the bar stating she "got in trouble". Very unprofessional in my opinion... should be building each other up in these times (all times really), when a lot of bars are short staffed.
