I was driving through Kenosha and stopped here for lunch. I'm generally skeptical of rotary sushi places because my previous experiences have been underwhelming. Sooshibay was fine - it wasn't great but it wasn't terrible. I pulled from the belt rather than order ala carte and pulled spicy tuna roll, salmon nigiri, zuke sake nigiri and the red dragon maki. Overall the fish was fresh and the basic stuff was prepared well. The rotary was well stocked, assuring that I was able to collect what I wanted without having to wait for replenishing. The more specialized rolls left much to be desired and the rice had a refrigerated taste, like it was made yesterday and reused the next day. If you're looking for some decent basic sushi that's better than the average rotary sushi place, Sooshibay will do the job, but don't expect to be wowed. Would I go again? Sure, if a group initiated this outing. Would I go out of my way to revisit? Probably not.

This is a great place for when you are really hungry and want to eat right away. The conveyor belt of sushi is always ready while you figure out what else you might want. I tried ramen from the menu once and it was lacking in flavor for me. So, I stick to sushi and I have not been disappointed. The plate color system allows you to know what you're spending and honestly is a genius idea. I absolutely love this place.

Been back a few times. The food is always fresh. Depending on time of day there can be such a variety of different sushi options. From raw, to seared, to mixed. It's a place you find more rare kinds you can't order elsewhere. Mixo soup was good.

Plate prices are clearly marked for everyone to see. Rotary can reach all tables and go slow enough and signs clearly labeled and explain what types are.

Environment is clean. Bathrooms are clean. Service is always polite and ready to help with great experience and answer questions.

It's so delicious, careful you may spend more than you planned. But worth it!

My fiancee and I have been coming to Sooshibay for quite a while now! Our server was Taylor, she was absolutely FANTASTIC! She refilled our drinks 3+ times, always asked how we were doing, and even brought us extra sweet and sour sauce for our order of Crab Ragoons! We also had the Pork Tonkotsu and Chicken Ramen which were delicious! I also signed up for their (newer?) rewards program! We stopped by Sooshibay around 3 PM for a late lunch, and although the restaurant was quiet at that time, we were more than happy with our visit. The sushi was made super fresh—each bite was full of flavor and clearly prepared with care. The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and fast. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. Honestly, we weren’t surprised that the sushi was so delicious—it lived up to everything we’d heard. For rotating sushi, some of the items were not fresh and you can't return the item once you grab it. Some items were bad rice, off-tasting fish, vegetable/fruits that were going bad from oxidation, and funky mayonnaise sauces.
Two of us had gut issues afterwards. I would recommend going at a time when they are more busy. We would see the same plates over and over without any changes of items or restock of more popular stuff.
The restroom seemed to be well taken care of and cleaner than expected.
We would probably order off the menu next time first then get the rotating stuff afterwards if still hungry.

Sooshibay was actually pretty awesome! Rotary (conveyor belt) sushi restaurants are few and far between, so it was a pleasant surprise to find one right next to the RecPlex complex where some of the swim meets are. High-quality sushi, great variety, and just looking at all sorts of tasty things passing right in front of you is a pure joy. We will definitely return next time we are in the area!

Unfortunately, our waiter, named Ben, forgot to put our order in and we waited 30 minutes to inquire what was going on (we're very patient and didn't want to seem impatient). Ben seemed extremely dismissive and didn't care that he left me and my date waiting for so long. After asking what happened, he said "it'll be another 15 minutes just wait". Luckily he's a young kid, so we didn't cause a scene, but we left having only had a drink and nothing else. Extremely disappointed and will never return here. Most people have a good experience here, but we were left with a miserable experience. Be careful if you get a waiter named Ben. He's extremely rude and uncaring, and the staff was definitely apologetic, so no fault to them.

We loved our experience here. My meal was vegan & delicious (the vegan ramen option with tofu, side salad with ginger dressing, & green tea), while my pescatarian husband had so much fun sampling all kinds of sushi from the conveyor belt. Our purple-haired server was attentive and friendly. I love that management allows staff to be themselves! There are three long conveyor belts, so plenty of seating, and they have a great rewards program. The only thing I didn’t love was watching a 3-5yr old picking up dishes from the belt and putting them back into rotation. Each dish has a cover, but it was off-putting. Maybe young children shouldn’t be allowed belt seating? But we had a lovely time, a lovely meal, and will be back!

The food at this place is good, but the service isn’t great. We hadn’t even finished eating when they started asking if they could bring us the check. I replied a couple of times that we weren’t ready because we were still picking some dishes from the belt. In the end, I said yes even though we had no intention of leaving yet. I decided to give it another chance, and the same thing happened again. It feels like they’re trying to rush you out of the place. At other restaurants, they also bring you the check but politely let you know you can pay whenever you’re ready—here, it doesn’t feel like that at all. So sad because I really liked the food.

A really great selection for sushi and Maki, I got a poke bowl that I liked, but it didn't have a lot of fish for the price. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food. Only issue was at the end as we had 6 people, service was included, but no one mentioned it to us leading to some hastily changed checks after we added double tips. It would be nice if the server mentioned this, it always feels bad when the mandatory tip is hidden as "service" on the itemized check and not shown on the charge slip. I would go back again!

I don’t eat sushi but my 8 yr old grandson loves it. He was off school so I decided to take him to lunch and he chose the place. As soon as we got seated he started taking plates from the conveyor belt and started eating. I couldn’t make it more obvious when I want to leave, I could be passed out on the table and he still wouldn’t give us the check. Had family in from out of town and they wanted to go here. I don't eat sushi but the online menu listed other options for people who may not like sushi so I figured I would find something to eat there. From what my son said, the sushi was good. They have a conveyor belt bringing different types of sushi out non stop. Price is determined by the color of the plate that you choose. We ordered appetizers first which were good, same as any other asian restaurant. They took a long time to come back and get our order from the menu. During that time, it is very enticing to watch all the sushi passing by you and by the time our order was taken my family members had 13 plates from the conveyor. Our food orders did not come out at the same time. We were all almost finished before the my sons sushi was finally sent out on the conveyor. There were 4 of us that ordered ramen and it was disappointing. The broth had just a hint of chicken flavor. It was nothing to get excited about. Other things- you don't have one server( all of them just walk around and check at tables), if you have a party of 6 or more you will be charged an 18% gratuity automatically. When you pay they give tip suggestions even though you were already charged for a tip. Personally, I don't plan on going back but, if you like sushi and don't mind spending a LOT of money, you could give them a try.

If you are just snackish, you will walk out spending $15, your hungry $35, your famished, your gonna spend around $50 - $65. The plates add up quickly. The food is top tier quality for sushi. They don't have anything other to offer other than sushi, really. A few select bits of sashimi and an appiterizer menu also. My recent visit to Sooshibay left me with mixed feelings. Let's start with the positives: the sushi and ramen was fresh and delicious. However, the experience was marred by the rudeness of the wait staff.

I visited yesterday during the restaurant's one year anniversary. From the moment, I entered, it felt like an inconvenience to the waiters that I was there. They seemed impatient and uninterested in taking my order. I was not seated or acknowledged. Finally, I asked one of the waiters if I could sit anywhere and I went and sat at the bar. Even when I left after the meal, I was not acknowledged by the wait staff.

What salvaged the evening was the bartender, who not only made fantastic drinks but also took the time to engage with me and ensure I was enjoying myself. His friendliness was a stark contrast to the attitude of the other waiters. I forgot to get his name but he was a younger guy with a short ponytail.

Overall, while the sushi itself was good, the poor service from the wait staff overshadowed the dining experience. In the future, I hope the wait staff makes the time to be welcoming and attentive to every customer that comes through the door.

Ordered with Grubhub. Received no utensils or napkins or sauces. Crab Rangoon was the best we've ever had. Sushi was really really good too! A little on the expensive side especially when we didn't get napkins or anything. I'd eat there again but maybe not with Grubhub.

Sushi was good. Seaweed salad was tasty and a large portion. Their gyoza was delicious. Crispy but not greasy wrap and the filling was spot on. Ramen was the best we've had in the area. Definitely glad we stopped in for dinner.

Can be busy at times but no more than 30 mins to wait. Very clean restaurant, lots of menu options outside of the conveyer belt sushi. Great Crab Rangoons! About the same price as other sushi restaurants in the area. Giant Raman bowls with great substance of ingredients.

every single thing we order is delicious. we love the ramen so much its basically the only place we'll get ramen from anymore. the seafood is fresh and the prices are very fair. always friendly staff when we pick up our carry out orders. absolutely recommend this place!

The place is nice, and sushi is nothing crazy but good quality and consistent. always recommend the rotating sushi bar because you see what you're getting and can decide how much or little you want without overpaying for your eyes being bigger than your stomach. Service is kind of inattentive but never rude. You need to really catch someone's eyes to get service after you've sat down. I do recommend the takoyaki app, but you may want to get them without the Bonito flakes. I love them but they are an aquired taste.

First of all there straws are not in paper and left out to get dusty and then when lady filled container up she grab the straws with her had that is just wrong

I was amazed at how clean, fun, and the staff service. But roman noodles are wheat, so there are not a lot of options for dairy and gluten-free choices. Would be nice if on picture labels if items on the belt there were signs for both gluten and dairy free fpr us beginners.
They do have gluten-free soy sauce, so that was taste!

The food was okay, but the prices of the sushi put a sour taste in my mouth. $6 for two pieces of eel felt lacking.

It does not have anything special except maybe the tuna sandwiches, and 90% of the rolls were generic and on the higher end of the price. The most basic roll I got was a California and it was 4.99 for 4 pieces.

Another point was that there was no plate receptacle to put our finished plates in and they weren't picked up either. I don't think it was our servers fault I think they have to wait to count the plates. But with limited counter space it can become messy.

My partner and I also got the tonkatsu ramen bowl. It had a soapy taste in the soup and the noodles were hard and carried none of the flavor. The broth itself lacked depth and felt like it was stale soup.

Overall, was poor value. We won't be returning. The only extravagant thing about this place are the prices. If you're looking for alternative, Kura is Schaumburg is a much better choice.

The sushi on the conveyor belt was amazing. The only thing that would be better is if the description of each plate was a little bigger to read. Lots of great options so you can try all different kinds of rolls and sashimi.

I had heard good things about Sooshibay and really wanted to check it out. I was very happy with the overall experience and the look of the place. Nice look and friendly staff but a couple things could have been better.
The conveyor was cool and convenient but it was difficult to read the descriptions coming by. Would also have been a nice touch to have a screen or barrier between the sides of the conveyor. Staring at people in the booth on the other side of the conveyor while trying to see what was going by felt like I was sitting with them. This would have also prevented people from reaching across to grab an item in my area... They do have a section that faces the conveyor - that might be a nice option.
The other thing I wish is that I had a menu to see what other rolls I could order from the kitchen. The small menu we were given showed some appetizers and basic items but I saw a more detailed menu when I was getting ready to leave. The only other negative is that the waiter was not great about coming back for drinks and left us waiting for the check to be completed. He probably should have said to take care of it at the desk if he was busy. Instead he said that he could take care of it.
Overall - worth the stop. Food was great and the place is open and comfortable. Plates can add up quickly but the prices aren't bad compared to a full size roll AND you get to try a variety of options.
