Went in on a weekend morning. The staff was mostly friendly. The prices were good for the portions. Food tasted okay. We super excited about trying the dessert. We got 2 different types.

The one they used cool whip as the topping instead of whipped cream or meringue. Not my favorite, but I understand some folks like that. The custard tasted like regular eggs on a crust. We assumed they must've made a mistake and forgotten the sugar. I only ate one bite and then pushed my plate away. The waitress came back and never asked what was wrong, she started clearing the plates. So I asked her, "Does your custard normally not taste sweet? Because it tastes..." and she interrupted me and said, "Yep! That's the way it's supposed to taste."

Okay.
That interaction changed our entire experience. We were planning to go back and visit again, but found other places to go instead. A pie, buy it's nature, should be sweet. If it's got egg and it's not sweet, it's a quiche not a pie. That is the major difference between the 2 dishes.

If you do go, steer clear of the pies. They look delicious but taste disgusting.

My husband and I are passing through on our way back home to Florida. We wanted a nice cozy diner and this place was exactly what we were hoping it to be. We ate on a sunday evening around 4pm is when we arrived. It was busy. The staff was talking about a dance that had just ended and they were going to get hit with a rush. They sure did!!! The team did great. The front of house and back of house. Our server Hannah got our order in quick, the food come out quick and on point. Thank you for giving us a great experience.

The food isn't heavily seasoned, so it's good but not over the top and there are a number of options provided on the table that can be added. That said there is a great variety of options available that everyone in a large group can find something to eat. The staff is nice, friendly, and patient. We very much enjoyed the overall relaxing atmosphere where we didn't feel rushed with our large family, which really made the experience great. I think my only regret is not saving room for pie :)

I like the restaurant and the food is OK for Sparta. I absolutely hate it when I’m waited on by who I can only describe as Methanie McBrows. She has a horrible attitude every time I get her as a waitress and she goofs up my order every time, adding drinks I don’t order and bringing the wrong food. I can even understand the mistakes in orders but the attitude is something entirely different.

Family Restaurant is my go-to all the time. Their food is always good. Service is impeccable and Agim and his beautiful wife are always so nice. I'm very fond of their country fried steak and their Philly beef sandwich is outstanding. Tiana is my favorite server there she is so pleasant and adorable. Love this place. My experience was mixed. I think this might’ve been the third time I’ve been here. Once with family and I don’t remember anything that was negative. A few years back I came alone and I ordered steak and eggs. The steak was horrible. It tasted freezer burned. This last time I went for breakfast, again alone. I ordered eggs Benedict with hash browns. I’ve had eggs Benedict at many places, It’s one of my favorite breakfasts. I don’t remember ever being disappointed before today. The hashbrowns were great. The eggs Benedict were so-so. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I think It could’ve used more hollandaise sauce. It was the English muffin and possibly the ham that I didn’t like. It was hard to tell which was spoiling the taste. Might have been a case of the ham tasting a little freezer burned. The English muffin was extremely difficult to cut. So I don’t know if it was old and stale or what. As I was leaving, I bought a piece of the pie from the case by the register. It honestly wasn’t that great. It had whipped cream on top of it, which seemed kind of old and gooey. The service was pretty good, and the place seems clean. It was really bustling with a lot of customers. When I submit reviews for restaurants, it’s not only for potential customers, but also in the hopes that the restaurant will improve certain things. This is not a place where I would go on a regular basis.

TLDR: This whole ordeal would have been nothing if Sparta Family Restaurant had simply not knowingly lied to us. If they told us the truth we would not have ordered the fried chicken and gotten other foods we like instead. But no, the knowingly lied, attempted to gaslight us into thinking our food was always chicken, and then refused to drop the price down more than $1!! Insane that they thought it was appropriate to switch main proteins without telling the table.

While the food is normally pretty good, the service is mediocre at best. Our last trip ended worse than all other trips combined. We often go to eat our favorite Country Fried Steak. This time we brought family from far away to eat the Country Fried Steak. Sadly, they served us chicken instead! When I asked nicely (off to the side) about the chicken instead of steak - the thin waitress with pink-died hair, bangs, and heavy black eyeliner attempted to gaslight me. She said that sometimes the steak is small. I showed her the white chicken meat so she could not lie about it being a "small steak." Then she told me that sometimes "Country Fried Steak" is actually chicken. When I told her I knew she was lying since we ate Country Fried Steak at that restaurant often she finally told me the truth. Their delivery was wrong. Someone delivered chicken to them instead of steak. I told her I would understand this and not be mad if the restaurant had not lied. The whole wait-staff confirmed that they were scamming people all day by knowingly selling them chicken instead of steak at steak prices! When I confronted the wait-staff manager about it she was unwilling to help us. They talked down to our table and told us to either eat it or get new dishes. If we had not just spent all day working on the house and were not starving at that point we would have left. Since some of the table had started to eat. We simply finished our meal, paid, and left. I asked to speak to a manager or someone who could help. The wait-staff manager said the higher up manager (male I did not see) would stop by our table when he arrived. He came in and left without addressing any issues at our table.
