Saint Francis Brewery is one of our absolute favorite spots, and every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. Gina was a fantastic server, always attentive and making sure our water glasses stayed full, which we really appreciated. The beer is consistently excellent, and the food is just as impressive. We've tried many different menu items and everything has been delicious. The grilled chicken sandwich is amazing, but the Friday fish fry is somehow even better. And the cheese curds might be the most underrated in Milwaukee!! They are honestly the best we’ve had!!!!! Their old fashioneds are also top-notch. What really sets this place apart is the service and atmosphere. The owner is ALWAYS there, personally checking on tables and building real connections with guests, which shows how much he cares. He has done that with us 4 times now. We can't recommend this place enough. My wife and I absolutely love it and will keep coming back.

Went out with my lady and we both really enjoyed the food. I had the prime sandwich and she had the Alfredo, no complaints on the food besides they spilled my au jus, offered to refill and never did. Bartender service was almost passive aggressive as after I had finished my first beverage I had made eye contact with multiple of the bartenders (we sat at the bar) and they continued to mill about. If they had been terribly busy i would have understood the 10 minute delay, but bartenders were checking their phones, making eye contact, then going back to milling around. Overall, great food, decent atmosphere, very disappointed in the service

We have never been here. Just stopped in around 4pm after doing a walk. Wow, so glad we did! Super nice inside, clean, modern, and the staff couldn't have been nicer! We took advantage of the happy hour specials on beer and appetizers. When seated, our friendly waitress brought us a sample of pretzel balls and their beer dip! Mmmm, tempting, but we ordered the beer battered onion rings, so crispy, and light as a feather! These were seriously the BEST onion rings I've ever eaten. We also had the stuffed mushroom caps, again, just overly delicious. Oh and the beer, no complaints, and more than just IPAs, yay. The saison was spot on. Our waitress was so so friendly, kind! Don't hesitate to stop in.

I ordered carryout beer braised beef. It was unfortunately mostly a large chunk of fat with little meat. The string beans were delicious and the mashed potatoes were fine. It came with three small dough balls that resembled pretzels with beer cheese dipping sauce but they didn’t taste like a pretzel.

I'm so glad St Francis Brewery is back! The new owners have created an exquisite menu. Surprisingly, they've already made enhancements to their menu while also adding new fan favorites. I had the buffalo wrap with a side of onion rings and the portion size was generous while the quality was second to none.

Our server, Olivia, was exceptional. She was attentive to our needs and made sure our drinks were always full. We had an amazing time chatting with her.

My fiance and I have been dying to try this place out! We are so glad we did, we went for lunch today on a whim and we got the bruscetta appetizer, I got the "it's about clucking time" (which is a grilled chicken sandwich) and my fiance got the hot honey chicken sandwich. Everything we had was amazing and cooked perfectly, the service was spectacular and the atmosphere was also great! The music they had playing wasn't too loud and was appealing to multiple generations. We also met the owner who seemed very kind and open to constructive feedback (which we didnt have to give since eveything was great). We cannot wait to go back and try other items on their menu!

From the moment we pulled into the parking lot until we walked out the door, our experience was stellar. The building, both inside and outside, displays a fun and nostalgic atmosphere. The inside woodwork gives a warm glow to the air. After being seated with a window view, our server (Jordyn, who was awesome!) dropped off a few pretzel poppers that were very tasty. The drink and beer menu had several unique selections. The dinner menu was also filled with some traditional and may unique choices and we settled on a smash burger with sweet potato fries and prime rib sammie with garlic smashed potatoes. Both were excellent meals. We will DEFINTELY be returning!

My son decided to take us out to dinner and decided to go back to Saint Francis brewery since we noticed that it reopened. I’m glad we stopped in! We were greeted by a very nice young man, who sat us down right away. Our server, was on top of it! We ordered The prohibition platter appetizer which consisted of bruschetta, chicken, wings, and shrimp (you can change it up). All three were delicious, my son gives it a 10 out of 10 on the appetizers. However, our entrees had some issues. My son’s steak was cooked perfectly but lacked in seasoning. He also ordered the mac & cheese, which was not good. There was no cheese flavor nor is there any salt or any type of seasoning in it. I had the braised beef, which was really good except for it needed salt, and the gelatinous fat needed to be removed from it. My husband had the pork chops which were actually delicious except the green beans needed to be cooked a little longer and needed salt. I will say the food is very good. It just lacks in seasoning except for the mac & cheese that needs a whole redo. We will be going back again to check out the burgers and eat more of the appetizers because those were absolutely delicious and the atmosphere and the people are great.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant since it reopened. St. Francis Brewery is beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. The staff is fantastic at being welcoming from the moment you walk through the door to enter until the moment you walk out those same doors. The wait staff is very attentive to your needs… checking up on you throughout the meal. Let’s cut to the desserts first… they were absolutely fantastic and they had a nice variety. Not only were the desserts great looking, but also absolutely delicious. With regard to the actual meal, the selection was slightly limited… it felt like it just needed one or two more items too be different from what they were offering on the menu. While the plating for the desserts looked tremendous… the plating of the entrées were lacking. The burgers were solid just not fantastic. I think my biggest disappointment was with the table size. We were seated at a four person table, which really seemed to have been designed for two people. We lacked room on the table to be comfortable with drinks and entrées. Definitely no room for phones. I definitely would give it another try.

I’ve eaten all over Milwaukee, and I’d like to think I have a pretty decent taste. This blew me away, for the price and the quality and the meal it just doesn’t add up. It is such high quality food and such reasonable prices. The pretzel bites, the mashed potatoes, the alfrado, the deserts, the mac, the ranch, THE BEER CHEESE!! Everything is simply amazing. It was our first time checking out St. Francis Brewery. The service, beer, and food were excellent! Our server Livy recommended the bruschetta, and it was delicious. The beef was juicy, flaky and moist. The fried chicken and fish was crisp and juicy. The availability of a 🎤 and their piano man allows for some creative gathering possibilities.
The reestablishment of this ironic place in April is another reason to utilize its services. The availability of a bremaster speaks volumes about original brewed creations.
Spending your time and money here does the following:
1) create romantic opportunities;
2) gives the cook some rightly deserved downtime;

We dined outside tonight with Kaman as our sever. He was great with some solid recommendations. We started with the bruschetta and the wings. Both were really good. Additionally, we had the Alibi martini and it was great, not too sweet and the Hefeweizen which was good as well.
Our little guy had the chicken tenders and they were so good that we ordered them off the regular menu along with the potato soup. The soup was okay, lacked some flavor and was really puréed so tasted more like mashed potatoes with lots of liquid added to it to make it soup. With the tenders we got 2 sides, Mac and cheese and fries. The fries were good, nice and crispy but like the potato soup, the Mac and cheese lacked flavor. The owner came out to check on us which was a nice touch and shows he truly cares. We will be back to try some more of the menu!

We are from North Carolina and were visiting family who took us to the brewery. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly hostess and promptly seated. The decor and atmosphere were on par for what I expected. We had an excellent waiter named Jordan. He was knowledgeable about the drink plus dinner menus and explained the specials. After taking our orders he double checked to make sure he had everything correct. The local beer was very good and my prime rib sandwich was stellar. We are absolutely thrilled that St Francis has reopened. Walking in felt like catching up with an old friend, but with a fresh new energy. The vibe is warm and welcoming, yet still has that special touch that makes a night out feel memorable.
The food and drinks was nothing short of amazing. Every dish was packed with flavor and presented with so much care, it’s clear the kitchen team has poured their heart into the menu. Beers and cocktails also awesome.
And a huge shout out to Livy, our fabulous waitress. She made the evening extra special with her genuine warmth, attentive service, and spot on recommendations. Livy made us feel so well looked after, she’s an absolute gem and a real credit to the St Francis team.

We went for our first time & will not be back. There were not a lot of customers & we had to wait about 5-6 minutes for someone to even come to our table & ask if anyone has taken our order. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich & the pulled pork was hard, dry & seemed like it had been microwaved a few times. The best part of my dinner was the fries. Our server did a fly by check on us as he was walking to another table & then he didn’t come back. My husband said his salmon was good. Overall we will not go back, just wasn’t a good experience. Only really good thing is that we got my meal taken off since it was so bad.

This is a great Milwaukee style family restaurant! We are very glad to have it back. We just had a delicious fish fry and some excellent tap beer and we lived it. Andrea the waitress was VERY NICE! She went out of her way to make sure our group of ladies were taken good care of and all the while I could see her doing the same on all her other tables she served. The owner, Darren was also very nice. He stopped by to check on us, and that was very nice! He listened to us, he's NOT stuffy like most owners can be... per MY experiences!
SO my rating is based on customer service I give a hugh "high five" on service.
The food was plentiful and priced like all other restaurants.
However, I personally think salad prices are outrageous, but ti be honest, they are at just about every restaurant. Probably because they know people like them due to being so health conscious. BUT if I may suggest that it would benefit more lowering the price. They're too expensive for the amount provided and then the added charge for meats was turning the price of a salad near $20 if not more. After seeing this on the menu, I wasn't liking that and I felt forced to look for something else to eat. Who can afford that for a salad, AND it's NOT like you can take any leftovers home if you couldn't finish it, everyone knows salads are NEVER as good the 2nd time around. I would like to see better pricing on this... is my suggestion.

As for the noise... there must have been A LOT going on because there was multiple times we had to either talk lauder or just stop our conversations and wait for the sirens 🚨 to pass, that was the downfall to eating outside, other than that i loved having dinner on the patio!
I WILL be back but I think I'll wait for the menu to have more options to choose from. I would had loved to see wraps sandwiches, pasta or rice dishes, pizzas and chicken wings w/bone... like I said, more options as there isn't many options to the menu...

First time back and the hospitality, food, and service were all excellent. The beet and barley salad was delicious— I had the Saturday night beer and burger special (deal at $15) fries are incredible- especially dipped in the beer cheese sauce that they bring at the beginning with two hot Pretzel poppers.
To write that my husband enjoyed the braised beef, It’s an understatement. He was blown away by the perfect marriage of garlic mash, tender beef, and crisp perfectly done green beans. We will be back!

We have been wanting to check out the new St. Francis Brewery and our only regret was that we didn't go sooner. Our server was amazing and so personable. I used to go to the previous brewery here when I was younger and now as an adult it’s so great! We have gone here multiple times and for some reason we always have frank as our server and he always remembers us! All employees have been super kind and friendly. I placed a pick up order today and they were super nice on the phone always super nice in general. We had been to the old St. Francis Brewery which was good, but this newly reopened one was AMAZING. We ended up getting so much food because we couldn’t decide! The appetizers were delicious, our entrees were perfection! And of course the beer was great too! Our service was awesome as well—the owner made us feel so super welcomed right off the bat! With being opened not too long they have everything right! We will be visiting again VERY soon AND recommending to all!!

The fish fry was overpriced at $21.00 for cod and had a ton of breading, way more than fish. The potato pancakes were ok but tasted of old oil. Everything was just ok. The smash burger was good and the beers were ok but not a huge variety for a brewery. The one thing that was really good was the cheese sauce and bread they brought out to us complimentary. Everything was ok just not what we expected.

So unfortunate because this place is in our neighborhood. Went for Father's Day with my family. Made reservations at noon and when we showed up it was a buffet? $45 per adult and $20 per child. One would assume they would mention this over the phone when folks are making reservations considering this isn't normal restaurant operations. We decided to go with it considering we already made the drive plus wouldnt find anywhere else without reservations and, wow, what a waste of money! It was a small, set up buffet like you would see in someone's backyard for a birthday. Most of the food was almost gone and was dried out. When my wife requested more chicken, because they were out, the guy had some weird response about how she would "have to wait for her chicken." Dried to the bone chicken wings. Slop pulled pork. The salmon was rubbery, super fishy, and far overcooked. Even the fruit...blackberries, pineapple, strawberries weren't ripe or sweet. Our waitress was standing behind us, loudly discussing engagement rings rather than filling drinks or actually doing and form of "waiting" on us. My son never had his drink refilled once and I had to request for mine. They also had a live performer which just added to the oddness of a Father's Day dinner while trying to conversate with family. If a restaurant is going to charge high end, steakhouse prices, they need to live up to that standard. This place was in business once before and went under in a VERY short amount of time. One would think these new owners would try to do a not better. $200 for a subpar dinner for a family of 5. Needless to say we will never return to this establishment and would caution you to do the same.

We heard that the brewery reopened, and at the last minute decided to stop. We are so glad we did. We were greeted by friendly staff, we enjoyed excellent cocktails, and the food was outstanding. It isn’t a huge menu by any means, but it was just enough variety to appeal to anyone looking for a good meal no matter what your preference might be. I would recommend this place to any one of our friends. I’m glad we made the decision to stop and we will go back again. I dined here about two weeks ago and the food was delicious. I had a New York Strip Steak, mashed potatoes and a salad . The presentation was great. So much so that a customer on her way out saw it and came over to my booth and said hi i saw your steak and i am having that the next time i come that looks delicious 🤣. Rick had the braised beef which was so tender you didn’t even need a knife. I tasted it and that will be my next dish. I plan on returning in two weeks. They also have a fully stocked bar and on Friday’s and Saturday’s they have live music. The restaurant has a nice relaxed atmosphere and the owner Darren is a wonderful person that anyone would enjoy talking to. Our server also was very attentive and friendly. It’s newly opened and definitely is worth checking out. You won’t be disappointed.

Very true to style beers. Went with the pale ale, kolsch, hefeweizen (liked this one the most), saison, and hazy ipa.

Everything food wise was spot on as well! Love that they bring out a few pretzel bites with cheese dip on the house as soon to try as you sit at your table. Need to come back to try their fish fry and prime rib!

Went to lunch here with my Daughter, son n law and my 11 month old grandson. Andrea was our server. Horrible experience, We went previously and had a good time but recently we went and had horrible service, our waitress “Abby” took our order as if she was asking us how to do it… she also forgot our appetizers which is what the whole restaurant praises upon. Big beer fans super excited to see them reopen! Went on a early Saturday, about 3, sat at the bar, which was full but not packed--we got seats. Was not greeted, in fact we were completely ignored. Guy next to me was kind enough to give us the beer menu after he made his selection and was served his beer. Three people behind the bar working, all of them successfully avoiding eye contact. One working the south end (where we were obviously not sitting), one diligently dealing with dirty glassware, and one apparently making drinks for the outside and restaurant. I set the timer on my phone, after 6 minutes of nothing we got up to leave and the hostess was kind enough to thank us and wish us a good evening! 🤣

Very excited when I heard that St Francis Brewery was opening up again under new management. Stopped for dinner last Friday (5/16) during Happy Hour. Cocktails were good, tried the Alibi Martini and the St Francis Lager. For dinner I had the Fish Fry with Potato Pancakes and my husband had the $15 Tap Beer and Burger - Barrel Smoker Burger. Sorry no pics taken. The fish was tender and flaky, however wasn't a fan of the breading. Potato Pancakes were homemade, however were a little overcooked. My husband really enjoyed the burger, very flavorful, however the server did not ask how he wanted it cooked and unfortunately it was overcooked for his liking. And speaking of our server, maybe he was having an off night, but was not too happy with him. He was not very attentive and I had to flag him down to get another cocktail before happy hour ended. Watched him just wondering around the restaurant not being attentive to any of his tables. Also hoping that the current menu is a work in progress. The menu needs to include a chicken sandwich and maybe pizza. Hopefully the owners will be adding more items to the menu. One other thing needing mention, the tables for the booths are not placed comfortably. The booth seats are sitting too far away from the tables and we had to scoot up to the edge to reach the table. Need to reconfigure them. Will definitely wait a few months before we try eating here again. Hopefully they will get things figured out by then and hopefully make some changes/improvements.

The Rise, Fall, and Revival of a Beloved Brewery

It all began in 2009, with an unlikely partnership forged between a wealthy doctor with a taste for craft beer and a passionate brewer with a gift for turning hops into gold. One brought the money, the other brought the craft—but they both brought heart. Together, they set out to build more than just a brewery; they wanted to create a cornerstone for the community.

And they did just that.

At the corner of KK and Howard in St. Francis, a striking structure rose—a brewery with soul. With its eye-catching exterior, including a massive tank proudly displayed like a beacon of beer, it quickly became a local landmark. Inside, they brewed bold, character-driven beers inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins. Locals found a strange joy in ordering “Lust,” a flirtatiously smooth blonde ale, or “Wrath,” a bold and bitter IPA. The beers told stories, and so did the place. It was more than a brewery—it was a sanctuary for beer lovers, a haven for conversation, music, laughter, and connection.

But like many great stories, this one wasn’t without its conflict.
Somewhere along the way, the harmony between the founders soured. Whether it was creative differences, financial friction, or simply the strain of running a growing business, the doctor decided he wanted out. The brewery bought out his share, but things were never quite the same. In the scramble to stay afloat, a corporate "suit" was brought in—someone with charts and numbers but no feel for the heartbeat of the community.

Menus were slashed. The quirky charm that had once defined the place began to fade. What was once brewed with soul started to feel manufactured. The locals noticed. The regulars came less often. And the brewer, the heart of the operation, tried to hold on as best he could.

Then came 2019.

The brewery’s 10th anniversary should have been a celebration, a triumph. Instead, it was a swan song. The brewer crafted one final beer—a quiet farewell in a pint glass. And just like that, one morning, employees arrived to find a note on the door: the brewery was closed. No warning. No explanation. Just silence.
The man who once filled the place with life disappeared, leaving behind a shuttered building and a hundred unanswered questions. Some compared him to the monorail salesman from The Simpsons—a charismatic dreamer who vanished as mysteriously as he arrived.

For six years, the building sat in quiet decay. Its windows dark, its tanks dry. COVID came and went. Businesses struggled, but this one was already a ghost.

Then, in 2025, something extraordinary happened.

New owners stepped in—not corporate raiders, but true believers. They didn’t want to reinvent the wheel. They wanted to restore it. They kept the name, out of respect. They walked into that beautiful building with its bones still strong and said, Let’s do right by this place. Let’s bring it back to life.

First impression is that the restaurant appears well put together. Went there with my family (wife and daughter) shortly after they opened.

They seemed to have more staff than needed but I suspect that was just due to training for the new restaurant. The atmosphere and the staff were very helpful.

Our order did not come out as expected and one of us had to wait 10+ minutes while the rest of my family ate. Others had finished by the time the corrected meal came out.

Staff was very concerned that we were doing well and we were given a discount on our bill.

In short, the food was good but not really worth the prices and the menu had limited variety. I would be willing to try again if/when the menu changes.

Overall, give it a try and see what you think. I know my family will probably not be going back for a while.

This place will be really nice once they put some vegan items on their menu and have the ability to sell their own brewed beer. Until then, the decor is nice, it's great they have their own parking lot, our server was friendly and informative, and the service was fast and efficient. I'm glad they've reopened and I'm looking forward to coming back once they put some things on the menu we can eat. We were only able to order onion rings this time around (and I'm not sure the batter was vegan, so we took a chance this time) and they were tasty but soft. Not crispy. They didn't hold together when dipping them in ketchup; they fell apart. And there were only like 5 or 6 in the basket, definitely not enough for two people as an appetizer. Hope they improve!

Stopped in for brunch and really enjoyed the atmosphere—spacious, clean, and very inviting. It’s a great setup with lots of potential, and we’ll stop in to try the dinner menu sometime.

While the food didn’t quite hit the mark for us this time, we have a few suggestions that might help elevate the experience. A fresh fruit option alongside the French toast would be a great touch. It would also be nice to see more variety in the Benedict offerings—salmon lox or classic ham would be great additions.

The hashbrown casserole was a highlight—really tasty! It could be even better with a hot sauce option, like Cholula. Lastly, the sausage wasn’t quite to our liking; a chicken sausage or an alternate option with a more tender casing could be a welcome improvement.

We visited on Friday around 530 and the place was packed! The menu is small, and the fish fry wasn’t advertised anywhere. I thought $21 for a two piece fish fry was a lot, fish was very soggy/greasy, no flavor in coleslaw and potato pancakes which were ok and seemed handmade, were cold. Onion rings….soggy and greasy.
