The ambience was perfect, the gypsy margarita was absolutely delicious and A+ on the food plus menus. So much goodness to choose from! I had crab artichoke dip, caesar salad and catfish fingers... A wonderful experience.

My boyfriend said this was the best fish he’s had from a restaurant ever. And he’s picky on his fish. I love the drink selection, especially the mocktail options. Service is a little slow at times; you can tell they definitely want you to enjoy your time and have a long dinner.

Appetizers were good but the main entrees of both jambalaya and gumbo were completely mediocre at best: watery, thawed out Costco shrimp, frozen vegetables, and flavorless sausage and chicken. Such a disappointing experience. Drinks were ok.

Stella Blues far exceeded my expectations. The interior is very NOLA esque going right along with the menu selections. We got the crab dip, shrimp and grits, and Cajun pasta with andouille sausage and shrimp. All of the food was hot and excellent. Service was very good. Only thing to mention is meat add ons are $8 each so keep that in mind.

The entire experience was fantastic. Food was on point. Now, if you're looking for a "bang for your buck drink," this is the place to get a strong one at a normal price. Servers were excellent and fun. All around wonderful experience.

Some of the most delicious food in the city. The staff is friendly, very helpful answering questions about the menu. Great atmosphere. Food can be a little messy, as good Cajun food should be! One suggestion: wet wipes at the tables.

When I exited this restaurant, it was almost freezing outside, and yet I still felt more warmth than the hospitality I was shown at the bar. The restaurant may be Stella, but the hospitality wasn't, although they did give me the blues
When I was asked to sit at the bar because they were booked up with reservations, I was fine with that, although I did really want a table because I don't like bars.
My crime was proceeding to approach my seat from the side near where the drinks are set out. Instead of being given the benefit of the doubt, I was called out in a sharp tone for blocking the drinks area when all I was trying to do was slide my seat from the side to not crowd the people seated next to me.
The sharp tone evoked my abrupt response that I wasn't trying to sit in that spot. Then I asked for a menu and was told the large group around me had priority, and it could be 1/2 hour before I could order.
I said I would wait and was served my food much sooner. While waiting, I observed the friendly interactions between the bartender and the couple seated next to me.
This made me wonder what was wrong with me. I did not feel welcome at this establishment, and I had done nothing to deserve it. I spent $30 on a meal while trying to have a nice night out.
Hope it was a one off.

Sadly, this is a restaurant we have dined at many times before, but last night was a MAJOR fail. After making reservations two weeks in advance and receiving a couple returned confirmation calls from them along with them confirming where they would seat us I was extremely impressed… UNTIl, we showed up.
We were seated in the front of the restaurant by the bar when we specifically confirmed with them that they were going to have us sit in the back area where this group has sat previously. They then separated us into two different tables telling us we could not sit together as a group because they didn’t have staff trained to serve that many people… All while, another group was seated together, bigger than ours, right next to us. Later, we went back to the area we were supposed to be seated and sure enough, big table of people sitting together right where we were supposed to have been seated. Hmmmm…
Our other table was served their food before we even ordered and finished 30 minutes before the us. When three of us ordered the Smoked Pepper Caesar salad, there was NO dressing on the salad and I am not sure what they meant by Smoked Pepper Caesar but there was nothing smoked about it and the only pepper on it was from the shaker. They didn’t even offer fresh cracked pepper. I then, specifically asked about being able to just have one meat on my entree but to have them split the meats to 1/2 being one of the meets and 1/2 of the other meat, the wait staff checked with the kitchen and they were fine with it. Welp, got the check and each of us who did this were charged full price for two meats. I suppose that would not have been all bad had the meal had that much meat on it but it did not… so our entrees ended up costing almost double. When I asked about this with the wait staff, she did apologized and took ownership for the miscommunication but could do anything about it even after owning the mistake.
Food at Stella’s is quite amazing but this experience has destroyed my taste with them. The greeter, an older woman who has worked there for many years was unapologetic, rather brash and had no recognition to how this evening was set up and confirmed with Melissa, who was excellent to work with when we we first making arrangements for the evening.
Not sure I will recommend nor return anytime soon. Eau Claire has really expanded their dining option over the past several years we have lived in the area and we will just find a new favorite.

Some reviewers are complaining about the food but we had a good experience. I ordered the Rockefeller Pasta with crawfish. My friends ordered the Cajun Pasta and a burger. Though I didn't think either of the pastas were award winners I give them both a 7/10. We tried two or three drinks each and the only one we didn't like was the James Bond. I especially enjoyed the New Orleans Grenade which is built like a Long Island Iced Tea. The Lemonade with Green Apple Vodka was surprisingly good and not a combo I would normally go for. I love the vibe of the place which is kitschy without being too loud. Our server was amazing, prompt, and friendly. Stella Blues has extremely limited hours so I strongly recommend getting there early before people pack in.

Honestly some of the worst food I've ever eaten. The cornbread tasted like yellow box cake that had too much milk in it, so it was mushy and dense. The gumbo was completely inedible. It tasted like I was eating spoonfuls of flour, so the roux was clearly botched and undercooked. The gumbo had the consistency of etouffe, which explains the flour. The French bread was good and the only thing I actually ate. Server was friendly, but hadn't tried any of the food, which should have signaled us to leave. On top of waiting for over an hour for the food, the gumbo was $27 and the worst and most expensive gumbo I've had in my entire life. Avoid this place, as every other EC restaurant I've been to has been leaps and bounds better (and cheaper).

Legit cajun food north of the cornbelt. I had the shrimp and grits. Spice is noticeable and there is a generous topping of forward flavoring red peppers and tomatoes. Really nom but the grits were subtle under all the flavor.
I took a gumbo home cuz I couldn’t decide between the two.
Definitely recommend! Each entree is around $22-26. Worth it!!

We were sat by the hostess and left after 15 minutes of being blatantly ignored by the waitress in our section. We weren't given water or even acknowledged during the time we sat. Menus were folded up in front of us because we had plenty of time to decide on the drinks, apps, and entrees we weren't going to be served.
I've eaten here a half dozen times before and never had service near this non-existent, but the service has never been what I would call "good".
As for the food, it's subpar Cajun food. Decent for Eau Claire, WI, but not even close to exceptional. As their menu says, "the only Cajun food in Eau Claire". Apparently, they're banking on being the only game in town to keep people coming in.

While traveling, looked ahead and found this wonderful quaint place. From the first touch which was a phone call answered by Linda to check on seating for our anticipated arrival time we were welcomed with open arms. When we arrived I gave my name and she repeated it and said, I'm Linda I've got your table. Liz was our waitress that was on spot to check on us and make sure we were never without. I had the best Old Fashion ! My husband had the sweet bourbon pasta with shrimp. I had blackened catfish. We tried the beet salad and the Cajun crab dip. We highly recommend Stella Blues. Both Linda and Liz told us the food wait was at least one half hour very apologetically. I don't know about the rest of you, but in today's world one half hour is not a wait. We felt relaxed and we'll cared for. When I get back to Eau Claire I will be here again. You should too!

Wednesday has a catfish special. You get two huge pieces of catfish and a side for $14. It's a fantastic deal, and it also happens to taste delicious!
The cornbread is amazing! I know, it's cornbread. How good could it possibly be? But you HAVE to get it. The butter spread to put on the cornbread is *muah* chef's kiss.
Special mixed alcoholic beverages are $10+ so just be aware of that or ask before ordering them.

Went for my Sons late Birthday dinner. (6-17-2023) It was a bit slow for a Saturday night (Sunday being Father's day) ! The hostess Payton was sweet and let my son choose his seat. She was also very friendly when we walked in and as we left. Our server Liz was quick, friendly and on top of things. Sterling had the kids chicken fingers, Fries and a vanilla point soda. He loved it all. I had the Rockefeller Pasta with shrimp and a black cherry point soda. It was all great. Since it was his birthday we also got beignets! (Thanks Derrick (sp?) )...... We also ordered the fish tacos to go for my husband, he loved them as well. So over all everyone was friendly, Working great (even if they where not busy), and on top of making sure we where takin care of. Great job guys.

The place has cool signs everywhere. The place was kind of cold and dark though. The food overall sucked and was over salted. First signs of a bad place is that they do not know how to cook steak. Ordered medium rare, received medium well plus a coating of black char. The jambalaya was a nightmare (super salty). The drink menu was nice and the waitresses were really kind. Thanks for the food.

Went with high hopes of good Cajun food and was sadly disappointed. Blackened does NOT mean BURNT. Food was beyond disgusting and it was not edible. The salads were good, but pretty tough to mess up on a salad. The sides were okay, not great. Extremely disappointed, especially with the prices and leaving hungry. This restaurant doesn’t try to correct anything, they blame you instead, even though they were the ones cooking.

There were lots of creative & unique items ordered. However none that we would order again - none that we loved. Steer clear of surf and turf. Ouch. Server was friendly. Seating on wooden church bench was very uncomfortable. Restaurant was muggy feeling as opposed to most places where u need a sweater. Best item was prob the catfish fingers, but they should have been fried longer. I expected more from an expensive place that’s only open 17 hours a week.

The food here is amazing! The entrée portions are quite large, so although the average price for an entrée is about $27, it easily feeds two people (and I like to eat). This makes entrée sharing easy, or you will have another delicious meal waiting for you to enjoy as leftovers later on. The hours are pretty limited, which is why I haven't been able to get there until earlier this month. The atmosphere is nice, but there doesn't seem to be a need to dress up. I wore jeans and fit right in. Others I saw dressed a little nicer, but not crazy fancy. Think supper club attire if you are worried about what to wear. The front of the restaurant has a bar and high table seating, and the back has normal chairs/benches and tables. There is also a nice outside seating area. Can't wait to come back and try some more of the food!

Order the corn bread and pass on most other dishes. We had ordered several dishes to share in our group. Mac & cheese was beyond over salted. Crab and Cajon dip was over powered with what I believe is Mayo, I barely touched it. They had posted on the bottom of each page that you're responsible to pay for each item ordered so I didn't bother bringing up to the server. She was nice and running around everywhere, just terrible food. Check it out for a drink but have a meal elsewhere is my recommendation.

Upon arrival, hostess was very nice and seated us. From there it went down hill. We waited 17mins before we were waited on. Didn't even get water or drinks. Had to go to the bar and get our drinks. After, I asked the hostess if we had a waitress, she sincerely apologized and got us one, which in turn, took another 10mins before we actually got help. Upon coming to our table, finally, we were finally able to order. On the positive side, she took care of our first drink and everything started to go better. As an experienced person in this type of business, always stay focused on your customers who pay the bills and not hang out as a group at the wait station. Looks bad for business. Rather they are new or a regular. Food wise, very good.

Food was great, nice atmosphere, wasn't impressed with our waitress. It was a slow night ( im talking 6 tables total in entire restaurant with other wait staff) couldnt find her to let her know we were missing a side so we went without it, she checked on us once our entire time and that was to ask if we want boxes. Check came, we paid with card, when the slip came back for a signature the total was for a larger amount. She didn't notify us that she had changed it because she forgot to add an item but added it now. We had to figure this out on our own bc again she was no where to be found. Will maybe give it another try in a few months.

The service was without a doubt absolutely amazing! Quick, efficient and polite. The food on the other hand was bland, overcooked, and over priced. See for yourself, that’s just my opinion. Great service though

Good food. Just strange listening to 90s music in a cajun restaurant.

We really enjoyed this place. We got the feeling if it was in a better location they would be mobbed. Great food. Great service. And the drinks (old fashions) were top drawer.

OMG THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC. Small, quiet little place, but VERY good!! The Smoky Mango Habanero Old Fashion was my FAVORITE!! Their Oysters were amazing, too - got 3 orders of 6 LMFAO. I'd definitely go back for sure. Glad I checked this place out.....

The food was very good, the service was very good. As a lifelong N'awlins resident, I was pleased with the authenticity of the spices.
Chargrilled oysters were good, the Sweet Bourbon Pasta was excellent. Beignets for dessert rounded out a really good meal.

Very good food! But pricey. I got the vegetarian tortellini (which was amazing) and it was over $20.
Good experience though

Wow. After all these years! Once upon a time I lived in this cozy little town and Stellas was just starting up...Catfish Wednesdays were all the talk...now over a decade later I sat down with a dear friend who had never tried blackened catfish and I’ll tell you the dish was spot on. Both of us were set over the moon by delightful spices and a filet cooked to perfection. This place truly has a lot of heart and amazing soul food.
Thank you for all your hard work in keeping up this fabulous little establishment. A true gem!

We went out for valentine's day dinner. The concept was good but my green beans and mashed potatoes where cold. Our soda was completely flat. We where told that it happens sometimes and got bottled soda. The hushpuppies where great and the flavors of the rum chicken where good. Overall, I was not impressed and will not be back. I expect a better experience for the prices they charge.

OMG the food is wonderful. So go there for the food, but stay for a few drinks. A real cutie of a bartender made a drink for me and she called it the Emily special. Ask for it you won't regret it ;)
