I would like to start by saying that I would absolutely return here, but only to drink. Sitting outside on their wonderful patio was the highlight of the meal. The outside area has plenty of shade, so you aren't roasting in the sun. It was loud, but I expected that for a bar.

Great selection of local craft beers, with some excellent seasonal brews to try.

The food was disappointing, and pricy to boot. None of the sandwiches come with fries, and are already between $14-18. To not come with fries at that price point is unreasonable.

Service was ok, inattentive but polite enough.

Bathrooms were nice, there are three one-man bathrooms. Very private, very clean. Don't forget to use the secret bathroom upstairs.

Came here for the expected ambiance from photos online. It was very nice to sit outside by the creek. First i had a mocktail, fall punch. It was delicious! Next was a cup of prime rib chili which kinda tasted like Wendy's chili but I'm not complaining...about that. Next I had tuna tartare for my meal. It came out and looked kind of off. My first thought was it didn't look fresh. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, thinking it was just the marinade giving it a darker color. However at first bite I found out I was right about the freshness. It was not rotten by any means, just not fresh, and had not much flavor. The smoky flavor was overpowering and it didn't taste like much else. The avocado had brown spots which bothered me. The chips that came with it didn't really have any taste either.
I gave it back to the staff who did not apologize for it. They did quickly give me another meal which I appreciated. I got the bacon brie and fig burger which was delicious. Fluffy brioche bun and the flavors were perfect together. I also got the Cajun bacon fries which weren't great. All in all not the best food and the service was okay. I wouldn't recommend.

First time here, my wife and I came for lunch. We asked for an outdoor table and were told there would be a 25 minute wait so we decided to eat in. Not sure why but as we sat in our booth we witnessed many people being ushered to the outdoor dining area. My wife ordered the Stilt Burger which she said was very good. I had the Chicken Tinga tacos which were served cold and laughably small. The flavor was okay. There is no excuse for food served cold. My other pet peeve is my beer was served with an unchilled glass which looked to be a brandy snifter - no bueno. Also, it was VERY loud inside as mentioned in other reviews.

Their server Ana is truly amazing. We have been coming to stilt house for the past 4 years, and she is the best server they have or have had since we have been coming here hands down. I recently went to the Stilt House for the first time. When I asked others for suggestions on where to eat, all unanimously said I would love the food here, and they were right. From the moment I walked in, I had a great experience. I was greeted and made to feel welcome. I asked a couple of employees for suggestions, and they excitedly told me about their personal favorites and well as what was popular with others. The young girl who was my server came back to my table several times during my meal. Another thing to note is that I was eating by myself, so I had lots of time to observe, and I can easily say that everyone was treated the same as me ... attentively and politely. The food was phenomenal. Phenomenal. I will gladly go back when I'm in the area.

Our experience here was a huge disappointment. I do want to start off by saying the staff was absolutely incredible and fantastic. I had eaten here a year ago, and the food was so great. I remember telling the waitress they should actually charge more for their plates; it was so good. We came to dine, and we were very excited to come back. This time was a huge letdown. I ordered the steak, and I first bit into the mashed potatoes; literally ice cold, it was like they had been sitting in the fridge. The steak was lukewarm; as I got to the middle, it was cold. Asparagus is the same ice cold. My partner's pasta dish had the wrong sauce on it. I don't know if they have changed chefs or are having issues in the kitchen; I was shocked at the difference in quality.

The drinks were again on point, the food was delicious, and the service was top notch. I genuinely appreciated all the effort put in to rectify our initial experience. As we were leaving our 6 year old said “everything was much more better” 😆 and I can’t help but to agree! We look forward to visiting again!

I rarely leave reviews, and generally try to give places the benefit of the doubt after working in the service industry for 10+ years. I’m even still giving 2 stars cause the drinks we had were great, and the menu looked promising. However, tonight was probably one of the worst experiences I’ve had.

We tried visiting the Stilt house for the first time after visiting Illuminate Ozaukee. It had really promising reviews, particularly for being kid friendly. After a 15 minute wait for a table (no biggie) we proceeded to sit for 30 minutes with not one person stopping at our table. We got drinks at the bar during the initial wait for a table, and unfortunately one of the kids knocked it over, again no biggie. We asked a passing server for napkins, she said she’d grab them and they never came. We ended up using what the silverware was wrapped in, figuring we’d get more when our serve came.

After watching FIVE separate staff members walk by, and the kids complaining they were thirsty, I finally stopped the same server who forgot the napkins, and politely mentioned that we hadn’t gotten a server, waters, or even those napkins. Her response? “I’m not your server”. To which I explained, that’s fine, I just needed some help, which seemed to annoy her. So at that point, we decided to leave. She did come back to the table with napkins as we were packing up, and her response was “oh are you just gonna leave?” And we said yeah, it just wasn’t working for us, and she said nothing. On the way out, I did stop who I believe was a manager (and among the 5 staff we saw while waiting for someone) and explained that no one came to our table so we were going to leave. They apologized and asked that we try again after the holidays, which honestly we most likely won’t.

My hope on leaving this review is that it can be used as a learning opportunity. Especially considering the service staff seemed really young, and frankly (hopefully) just inexperienced based on their response.

The food was very pricey for what you got. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and I was very disappointed. I paid $14.99, it was a dry chicken breast w a cold piece of cheese and bacon on a bun that was not very big and came w no sides. I would not have that sandwich on the menu. I also had a cup of the cream of mushroom soup for $6.99, it was delicious but the portion was not even a cup. I paid $28 for the meal and tip and left hungry. We were lucky enough to dine at The Stlit House yesterday. The visit got off to a great start when a young gentleman opened the door for us and escorted us to a table in the outdoor area near the river. A lovely setting!
The beer selection was extensive and flights are offered. 🙂
We got the calamari appetizer and Jamaican rice bowls. Each dish was very tasty.

Over the past 3 years, my girlfriend and I have been to the Stilt House just short of a dozen times. This has been our favorite spot, particularly for the calamari and a good burger.

Unfortunately, I don’t know the next time we will visit. Out of our 9 visits to the Stilt House, 3 of those visits have had a polar opposite experience from the rest.

On 3 separate occasions now, the food has been awful. Most recently, I paid 15$ for a chicken maple bacon sandwhich, and got a cold, kids-sized sandwhich on a value bun from the grocery store with bacon that was clearly old and cold. This has happened to me twice with this exact menu item. To top it off, our calamari was soggy, and we had guests in town that we had hyped this place up to.

They were extremely disappointed (one ordered the bulldog burger which was cold, and we got another chicken sandwhich that looked the same as mine, with shrimp tacos that were overcooked.

We know how good the food is at this place, but if you get it on a bad night, it’s a very unpleasant meal. The definition of hit or miss, as when the food is good, it is some of the best you can find in the area.

We have never had an issue with service here, always friendly and polite.

EDIT/UPDATE: Gordon, the owner, reached out to us personally and made things right with us, covering our bill from our poor experience and inviting us to try his other restaurant. While this doesn’t erase our experience, it does emphasize the point I made on how our service has always been great, and we will be back for more. I will boost this review from 3 original stars to 4 stars for making things right.

FINAL EDIT/UPDATE: After receiving a voucher from the owner to return to the Stilt House, we went back for a meal. Once again, the food was sub-par. We did take pictures this time. Our apps were good (calamari was cooked crispy this time, and the sauce they serve it with is delicious. We also got the sliders which were good).

However, the sweet potato fries we ordered were off…they had an odd texture, almost like a stale chip. They were room temperature and under-seasoned. The beer cheese fries were under cooked, under seasoned, and the beer cheese was gritty and luke-warm. My girlfriend ordered the southwest chicken salad, which came out with rubbery overcooked chicken, with what looked like black beans that were just rinsed from the can and added to the salad. The dressing tasted like thousand island mixed with taco seasoning. My sandwhich came out fine, but this type of inconsistency is what will keep us away from the Stilt House in the future.

It is worth noting the staff removed the items from the bill. We have always received great service here, but after embarrassing ourselves with guests coming into town, and then having a poor experience again after receiving a gift voucher, we cannot justify keeping this restaurant in our local rotation. We have now had 4 poor experiences here in the last few years of visiting. Worth every penny if you get it on a good night, but it sure can be disappointing if you don’t.

Came here for the first time and had a great experience. My friends and I came during the harvest festival so it was busy but we were sat right away and had prompt service. Four of us enjoyed the outdoor patio on a late Sunday morning. We appreciated the extensive beverage list, including N/A options, although the non-alcoholic Pain Killer cocktail ($6) was much too sweet. Appetizers (pretzels $12, mushroom flatbread $16) were delicious. Bulldog Burger ($15) was tasty, but we missed the fact that there were no side dishes included, so our request for a simple side salad instead of fries came with an unexpected $7 price tag. Stilthouse Sliders ($16) had an interesting flavor in the onions. Grilled Romaine ($15) was nicely seasoned and piled high with (almost too much) shaved cheese and crumbled bacon. Unfortunately, one person in our party was so unhappy with his meal (Chipotle Lime Salad, $15) that -- after a couple of bites-- he sent it back to the kitchen with the message that it was the most flavorless salad he had ever been served anywhere. 😬 We did order one dessert to share (Italian Lemon Cake, $7), which was very good. Jackson was a fabulous server. He was attentive and friendly. Our food was delicious-white fish and cod. Excellent old fashions with real cherries. Dessert was excellent as well. Turtle cheesecake and lemon cake. Great atmosphere. Happy to be able to eat outside on the patio.

Out of towner, first time here, and we left full and happy! The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the food and drinks were delicious! The potato chip crusted walleye was cooked to perfection (not pictured) and the California chicken wrap was the perfect light lunch option. Love the historic Cedarburg location!

This was our first time here. For the price that we paid the food was great. My husband couldn't stop talking about how juicy and full of flavor the stilt burger was. We will go back again. The staff was really friendly. The staff opened the door for us. I have never seen a restaurant do that before.

I'm from out of town and stopped in to eat, a lot of good reviews but was really disappointed in the food. The almost 15$ mac and cheese taste like kraft & had no flavor. Had another pasta & that had no flavor as well. Cheese fries were cold and soggy as if they made those first before the other food was done. Brussel sprout dish has potential but future reference maybe cut the ends off to not give such a sour taste to it. Also cut the Brussel sprouts instead of serving whole so they can cook more properly and not be burnt on the outside. I think this place is good for the drinks and not food wise. Over priced for food with no flavor.

Stopped at Stilt House for an early lunch on a rainy Tuesday. It was not too busy and we got a table. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. They have a great selection of beers on tap. We ordered the Shrimp Tacos, Bulldog Burger and Sweet Potato Fries. The food was served quickly and it was really good. I definitely recommend and will be back again.

I love this place. The food is melt in your mouth good. Scratch that...Great. Its a great place for a date night on a spring or summer evening. I love there outdoor seating area under the lights. The atmosphere is great. I never feel rushed. All around it is a great place.
