We've been going to this restaurant for 3-4 years now and we can tell, it's going downhill. The service has gotten so bad, the server didnt even smile one bit, never came to our table to ask if we need anything, we had to get up to get his attention. It almost felt like he was forced to be there. Same guy we always have as a server for the past couple years and I have to say he wasnt always like that. I ordered the L.A Kalbi which was $32+ and it was overcooked and dry. We also ordered the mandoo and it was burnt, the Jayeok my husband got had more onions than meat. The place also looks more run-down every time we go there. Sadly, we think we will be looking for another korean place to try :(

Reviews are pretty mixed and so are mine- I didn’t have a problem with service but the food was over cooked- egg on a bowl should be runny not hard (see video) and the steak was well done and just kept cooking in the hot bowl. Made it hard to eat. I liked the odd ambiance though. Just a documentary playing on the tv was weird in a good way. I don’t know if this spot was worth another try. I wanted to love it.

We had a short dude who served us and he was rude! We didn't get there until after 7:30 pm. I wasn't notified that they close at 8:30 pm! We got our food after 8 pm. When it was 8:26 he told us the store is closing at 8:30 pm and we need to hurry up with our eating and go. He looked at us like we were dumb or what!?! We got stone bowls and they were hot. Tell me how you're gonna finish that within 20 minutes? We rushed to eat our food and just packed the rest. Dude had to come back at 8:30 and tell us they close and we need to go. Felt like we got kicked out! We didn't eat for free! If y'all didn't want our money you should have told us you guys were no longer serving. We would have gone somewhere else.
Please hire people who at least like their jobs. The guy who seated us had glasses and a smaller frame and the one who served us looked upset or more like they hated their job. I didn't leave a tip and wrote on the receipt that you were rude and had bad service!

Stone bowl has always been on my list especially after trying a few other Korean restaurants in town, Maru, Char’d and merge(which is now closed). When I walked in, the waiter was sitting down at a distance from me with a straight face, I said a table for two to break the silence. The restaurant was half empty. The interior was quite dark so I wanted to sit at the booth near the windows, but the waiter said they were saving the table for larger groups. Which was reasonable, but he looked as if I owed him money.

My friend arrived a few minutes later. Banchans were served, the flavors were quite standard, but one of the pickled vegetables tasted a little old. We ordered bibimbap with tofu and barbecue pork belly. The tofus on the bibimbap came as if they were cut straight from a box, shining, white with no seasoning. Maybe I shouldn’t have expected them to be pan fried or marinated in some way. I was slightly disappointed that the egg is fully cooked, because I usually preferred the yolk to be a little runny. Without the sauce the dish would be absolutely bland. I should give them credit that the stone bowl was heated properly and the rice was charred on the bottom.

When we were about to leave the restaurant, there were still a few empty booths…

Overall, the food wasn’t terrible but wasn’t great either. Given the overall experience, I would choose other options in town.

Absolutely incredible food-- everything was cooked to perfection. The no. 6 appetizer was INCREDIBLE. Our server, Jai, recommended the hangover soup and the bimimbap, both of which were just phenomenal. We got four sides: a sweet potato dish in some sort of sweet sauce, fish cakes, cucumber kimchi, and an eggplant dish. I'm not a big fan of eggplant-- this is the best eggplant dish I've ever had. Jai was very friendly and helpful. 10/10 experience, can't wait to come back.

I was so excited to try this place. When I finally decided to go and treat myself it was a let down. The food I ordered was not bad, but the service was awful. I felt completely ignored while I watched as one server in particular just constantly returned to the table in front of me chatting away. Tried this place twice with two diff meals- it’s just not great, but I could be at a disadvantage here, being vegetarian (when 90% of the menu is meat or seafood based). For $16 you get a pretty bland bowl of (slimy and/or gummy) noodle or rice with pathetic slivers of onion and carrot, and few small pieces of mushroom and green bean. Really disappointing. Service is so-so. It’s just expensive and seems overrated, for what you get (but, perhaps meat-eaters will have a different experience). In my experience, the flavors and textures of what they serve are really off-putting.

I recently dined at stone bowl, and while the food was good, the rest of the experience was absolutely terrible. The service was non-existent—no one bothered to check on us, and we had to flag someone down every single time we needed anything, including basic refills.

What really set me off was the behavior of a short Asian man, who I’m assuming was the owner. He spent the entire time chatting with other tables, especially older customers, but completely ignored ours. He walked past our table multiple times, saw our empty water glasses, and didn’t lift a finger and just went on to grab his tip which was behind our table, and then after continued to talk to the table next to us . It was as if he decided we weren’t worth his time, likely because we’re younger and he assumed we wouldn’t tip as well. The favoritism was blatant, rude, and downright unprofessional.

To make matters worse, the TVs were playing completely inappropriate content for a restaurant setting(two man whom were on top of each other) (MANY SCENES OF IT BTW) . It was awkward and uncomfortable, making it impossible to enjoy what could have been a decent meal because Everytime we turned our head they were touching eachother inappropriately or doing some unquestionable things.

While the food itself was good, the horrible service, the dismissive and discriminatory attitude of the man I assume is the owner, and the uncomfortable environment made this a restaurant I’ll never return to. If you’re young or just looking for a pleasant dining experience, do yourself a favor and skip this place.

Boy oh boy !! It was my first time here and I was super hungry. I had the duboki platter which every and more !! It was perfectly spicy and filled me up. Along with the platter I had, kimchi chigae (this is how it’s spelt on their menu) and it was amazing !! I was sad I didn’t eat more of it but so happy I can take it home and eat it for dinner. The best part of this meal is that it’s right next to a boba shop so there are just desserts.

We recently visited and were disappointed by both the service and the unclear information regarding closing times. Upon arrival we were initially told rudely that they close at 8, though later we were informed that they actually close at 8:30, with the kitchen closing at 8. Despite placing our orders on time, several items were missed. Our waiter was unhelpful and abrupt when answering our questions, and the service felt rushed and unfriendly. Toward the end of our meal, the staff stood by our table with cleaning rags, signaling that we had passed their closing time, despite our last plate arriving only 10 minutes earlier, which was extremely hot. Haven't been here in a while, and everything is still the same as I remember. The service was great. We had a party of six and were told that the wait would be 15 minutes and so we told the waiter that’s fine. Then he came right back and said that it’s going to be anywhere from 30-40 minutes. We said that’s fine as we were still waiting for two more to arrive and they did shortly after. We continued to wait inside by the front for more than 40 minutes. Throughout the whole time that we waited, there wasn’t any customers that left the restaurant. After more than 40 minutes the waiter finally grabbed some menu and waved to us motioning for us to follow him. He seated us at the big table in the back of the restaurant, which was empty this whole time. There was already water on the table so we thought, “okay, maybe they’ll take our order soon as we had plenty of time to figure out what we wanted”, only to continued waiting. As we continued to wait, we noticed one waiter brought the check to the party that was next to our table and another waiter actually went and sat down to chat with another table. 15 minutes had passed by and at this point and none of the waiter have come take our order nor brought out the side dishes. We waited more than 40 minutes to be seated when there was space that can accommodate us, then waited more than 20 minutes sitting at the table without getting our orders taken so we walked out. I don’t know if the owner changed, but the atmosphere is no longer the same.

I love this place so much. I eat here with my family at least twice a week for 8 years. Delicious Korean food is the basic and the service of the friendly staff is so wonderful. Been going here a handful of times but can say I will never be back. Food was great like it always is, but yesterday the service is what really threw me off. We had come an hour before they closed and had been enjoying our food and chatting amongst each other. After it was coming around closing time one of the waiters came to our table and said “We close in 5 minutes.” Usually a waiter will come up to your table to let you know the kitchen closes but not when they close to rush you out the restaurant. After that we still hadn’t finished our food and they came to our table and handed us to go containers. On top of that they lifted our plates up while we were eating and cleaned the table off! And finally the waiters were in such a rush to leave they didn’t even sweep or mop. As soon as we left they left and locked the doors. I was a little apprehensive about coming here because it only has 4 stars compared to some of the other Korean restaurants in town having slightly higher reviews. Despite our efforts to visit on a Friday evening around 8:00 pm, navigating through the busy street for parking, we were met with unwelcoming service. The server initially hesitated to seat us until our entire party was present, which we understood. However, upon our arrival, we were informed by the server that the owner had suddenly decided to close early, despite the advertised closing time of 9:30 pm on Fridays. This abrupt closure left us questioning whether the restaurant's hours were misleading or if there were other factors at play. Regardless, the implication was unsettling, particularly as an African American family. Such treatment ensures I will not be returning, as our patronage holds equal value, regardless of race.

I've eaten close by in the area many times and they have an incredible location with nice parking. They also had a nice atmosphere that attracted a younger crowd for a Sunday dinner service. I never had a chance to try out this amazing Milwaukee ramen delicacy and I was not disappointed. The chef cooked with flavor and finesse. The staff was knowledgeable and timely with our order. Rarely have I experienced service so openly rude and immature. My wife and I arrived just before 2:00pm (the establishment closes at 2:30pm, then reopens at 4:30pm) but, nonetheless, there were two booths filled with customers. A delivery semi-truck trailer had arrived and burly guys were unloading what appeared to be a new double-wide commercial refrigerator and heading for the propped-open front door. We step in and an employee attempts to seat us at a small table by the open door. We observe a few empty booths just a few feet away, further into the restaurant and, with the cool air blowing in through the open door, my wife asks for one of the booths, The guy replies, "there's a dog back there," and places our cutlery at the little table. I look back past the two parties of people seated in booths and see nothing, so I walk back and check it out. No dog.

So I return and tell him that there's no dog and that we'll take a booth, and he says, "we're closing in a half and hour." My wife acknowledges this fact, and we begin to head back and, suddenly, he shouts, "No!" Then he screams, "we're closing in half an hour!" I tell him that we know this, but would rather not sit in the cool air. And he says: "You have two choices, sit there or leave." We left.

And here's the thing. Clearly, he didn't want to serve us. But rather than fabricate some childish lie about a dog, or shout about the impending closure, why not just say "we're closed," and apologize.

We'll never go back.

OMG CAN I JUST SAY THAT THE MANAGER IS BEYOND RUDE!!!!!!

My granddaughter and I went in during a slow period on a Saturday.
After the waters and menus were dropped off we waited about 10 minutes and no server. He continued to walk past and ignore us. He did make his way to the couple beside us and took time to chat it up. It was obvious those folks were his friends because he did that the last time I went there. I kept making eye contact like we're ready to order. He proceeded to keep running his mouth in that conversation. He left brought them a to go container, left then came back to clear their table and STILL no contact with us. Mind you he walked past us 3 times. So I went to the front of the place where he was and asked when he was gonna take our order. He walked with me back to the table to tell me "rudely" he's by himself yada yada yada. I said " if you didn't spend all your time socializing with your friends you'd be able to handle your business"! So he said as he's told others if you didn't like the service to leave. Well guess what I left!!!! From the other reviews that dude has a history of horrible service. I will never patronize that place again. I HIGHLY recommend anyone reading this to pull up all the lowest reviews to see what the common denominator is..... The HORRIBLE service and that Manager!!!!!

Very good options and food. Service was fast on a weekday for lunch. Pork belly had generous shareable portion and spicy pork was also good with a hint of sweetness to it. Kimchi fries were okay. Cheese was not fully melted and meat+kimchi ratio was low. Might try a different appetizer next time.

Atmosphere was relaxed with some Kpop playing in background. Would be a great place for more casual date or hanging out with friends/family.

Cozy atmosphere, nowhere near as loud or crowded as Rice n Roll and honestly much better for it. We had the bokum noodles and the fried veggie dumplings - the server said that they're better than the beef ones, and honestly they were incredible. Staff don't hover, keep the place nice and clean, and are helpful if you have questions. Great flavor, I'm looking forward to coming back in the future!

I wish I could leave 0 stars! First restaurant I have ever walked out of. Service was basically non existent. We sat and waited for awhile for someone to take our drink order. When we decided to walk out after getting no service, we saw the servers sitting in a booth eating and talking to one another. Don’t waste your time here because they treat you like you’re a waste of theirs.

Ordered the Tofu Bibimbap rice bowl for lunch. The menu lists a cheaper lunch order but I was told over the phone that this was not an option. After paying full price for the dinner portion, the bowl I received was clearly a smaller lunch portion with cold, uncooked tofu, no kimchi, and a very small side of sauce. The bowl also had green beans and corn for some reason. If you are craving good Korean bibimbap you will be disappointed.

I wish I can give 0 for the trash service. Waiting there for 20 minutes to order and the server never came to our table to check on food and drinks. The food was mediocre and the portion was pretty small. We got 4 Adults and two baby (didn’t order and eat anything)and been charged 18 %service fee . The Mexican server in the front insisted that two baby counted as two guests and they offered great service. Thats ridiculous since its illegal for the owner to charge service fees for 4 top and the service was a joke since he never check on our table and we have to stand up to get his attention. Don’t waste your money on this garbage yard.

My friends and I ate here today. I grew up on Korean food (mom is Korean) and I cook it and my friends cook it. The food here was awful. Instead of bulgogi, they use teriyaki beef. The waiter said that's "their version" of bulgogi. My first reaction to my bibimbap was confusion over the corn in it. I looked through the bowl, there was like, sauteéd daikon or Korean white radish? Cooked, hot, and soggy. No spinach, no mushrooms, maybe shredded bok choy? But mostly, the meat tasted weird. My friend got the jjapchae. She asks me, have you ever seen this, it had broth in the bottom! And the meat tasted weird. My other friend got the spicy ramen and was happy.

No napa cabbage kimchi, no radish kimchi. Cucumber kimchi that used napa kimchi juice to season it. Waiter told us this, that they have kimchi in the back but don't use it as one of the banchan.

The jeon was an eggy mess!

He also explained that white people don't like fermented foods, and so all the dishes are catered to them?

I don't know about all that, I just know the food was the worst I've ever eaten.

The service was ok, but I asked one waiter to bring out more banchan since two of our bowls were empty and he was surly and huffed at us!

Firs time trying Korean food, tasty but you have to like some spiciness. When we left,the place was empty, so end of business day? Head chef cam out to talk and was very interesting, told us a bunch of stories. Made the dinner quite enjoyable beyond the good food.

Food was ok. They charge %18 for a party of 5 but one of our party was a one year old that didn’t order anything. We had to get up to get our own drinks, napkins, refills, and etc. Soda was flat and I requested another one and they charged for it. They seem to be short staffed but the service was terrible and we paid $125 for mediocre food. They very clearly don’t care. Dine at your own risk.

I have been here twice now and have enjoyed it. It is a nice and clean atmosphere, and the staff are nice. In fact, one of the waiters made a lot of funny jokes and really made their customers feel comfortable and chill while eating here. They also provide a handful of small dishes to go along with the food, and these seem to change each time. However, I will say the food is a bit pricey for the quality. I’ve been to a lot of spectacular Korean style restaurants and have had a lot of Bulgogi, and kind of feel Stone Bowl was more mid-level and didn’t have anything that made it stand out or even compare to some. The food was presented well, but I unfortunately have to admit that the flavors lack a little luster. I wish there was more of the typical sweet, savory and smoky flavors I’ve had elsewhere, but this Bulgogi is unfortunately a bit bland. I will gladly come back to try different dishes, but hope they are more flavorful.

Though I usually try to support minority-owned businesses in my city, the flavors & textures of this restaurant were WAY off. Frankly, I've cooked better pajeon and tteokbokki at home as an amateur chef. The pajeon was way too fluffy and the tteokbokki was just pure Gochujang. If you want a better and more authentic Korean meal, I strongly recommend checking out Maru just a few blocks away.

Tried eating here 5 years ago getting food delivered and they sent me water with bacon in it instead of the Kimchi jiggy.
Decided to finally try again and actually went to eat inside this time at 5:20pm on a Saturday. The place was mostly empty but they sat us in between other people. So I decided to move to a booth with a window and promptly got yelled at by the server saying we needed 3 people to sit there. Which made no sense to me since the place was pretty empty. Left a sour taste in my mouth as that is not good customer service and promptly left.
Was about to spend about $100 on food since I'm Korean and there are no Korean restaurants where I live.
I WILL NEVER GO BACK. Ridiculous honestly.

I would love to comment on the food since the restaurant smelled great, but we were greeted with "you might wanna try somewhere else, it's gonna be 30 min wait" from the server. After waiting 30 mins and watching 2 groups of 2 leave, we decided it would be better to go get sushi next door than to sit there repeatedly getting dirty looks by the server.

I ordered the dukboki and vegetable mandoo, and although the mandoo was good, the rice cakes were dry and over cooked. It looked like it had been sitting all day and got packaged for delivery. I wish I was dining in to return the food but unfortunately I just ended up wasting money and not eating.
