Our first visit to this incredible destination was truly unforgettable. The staff's warm hospitality, exceptional dinner and breakfast on the deck, peaceful Sunday morning coffee on our private patio, and vibrant evening with friends, complete with drinks and live music, all came together to create a truly exceptional experience. The views were absolutely breathtaking. I'm excited to share my enthusiastic endorsement of this outstanding resort, and we're already eagerly anticipating our next visit.

Employees were not very nice. Make sure you have the right date and nothing else is going on in your life before you book and hopefully no life situations pop up. They charge an inconvenience fee. They shouldβve thought about that before customers can write reviews online.

I was there for a conference which I have attended before and generally have enjoyed the experience without any reason to post a review aside from general upkeep issues, honestly, the place is old and not updated which makes some of their stuff tacky but not a huge deal. Once my shower door fell apart which was dumb but they fixed it. This time (Aug 2025) we needed a light bulb and nobody knew where to get one. The rooms are really outdated still, not a huge problem but I mean your outlet covers have gaps in the drywall and shoddy things like that. The biggest concern was the cockroaches and the pool area. My son almost burned his feet because the hot tub was way too hot and literally nobody knew how to adjust the temp. I have a pic of his feet beet red after stepping in for a minute. The desk was shocked by my complaint but then put caution tape around everything after checking that in fact there was a problem. The pool area is a little dirty and not well kept up but again the cockroaches were the problem. Google lens said that they aren't fans of water as I am not a cockroach specialist so I guess if I saw some running around in the pool that means there are at least 127 more in areas that they actually want to be in. It was gross. The after hours staff is nice but doesn't know what to do if you need anything. Although they did send someone for the roaches that prob were amused at the fact that I was surprised about their existence as I doubt it was shocking to anyone working there that they have roaches. Anyways will look for an Airbnb next year just due to not wishing to have roach friends. To be fair I did not see them in our room but I am pretty sure that doesn't mean much given what Google says.

My husband and I stayed one night in early September. The location is great for downtown Sturgeon Bay, but there is nothing else good to say about this 'resort.' The room was shabby, with dated furnishings. Lighting in the room was poor and the TV controls almost impossible to work (VERY limited channels). The staff at check-in were rude, and the common hallways on multiple floors reeked of marijuana smoke. We have stayed at multiple towns on the Door County peninsula and multiple locations within Sturgeon Bay - never, ever will we stay here again. [For what it's worth, I tried to post a negative review on the resort website and it wouldn't let me.]

We stayed here for Labor Day weekend 2025. There was only a Premium One Bedroom suite available. The room was GORGEOUS!! Comfortable, spacious and very tastefully decorated. Large sitting area to view TV. Dining table for 6. Windows and porch that looked out on the Sturgeon Bay ship channel. Modern bathroom with glass shower. Kitchen with quartz countertops. Amazing.

Stayed 2 nights at stone harbor the beginning of August. Place was clean but the room was a bit dated. Had a nice balcony but there was a door going into the adjoining room, which was a little odd, so it was actually a shared balcony with a table and 2 chairs. It was fine the first night as we had no one in the next room. Second night others moved in. Not ideal. Outdoor pool was average size but had a few more screaming kids than were used to. Water I don't believe was heated. Nice walkway next to the water with benches to watch the draw bridges go up and down and relax at sunset. Walking distance to the downtown and plenty of food/drink choices. Location seemed very safe. Would stay again but with different balcony set up. Didn't patronize the bar/restaurant so can't comment on those.

Expensive rooms and resort fees. Check in is strict 4pm , however lobby was full of guests ( including us) at 5:30p told that the rooms still werenβt ready. No daily cleaning service. Murphy bed way too small for 2 adults.|New restaurant had a 40min wait for lunch at 1:30p and half room was empty. Had to replace our own towels by asking at desk. TV listings found by scanning a QR code , would rather printed . Loud band music outside of room. Odd that our balcony was locked so adjoining guest could utilize but not us. Seems intrusive both ways.

Stone Harbor Resort is comfortable enough; however, the place has the ambience of an assisted living facility. The website advertises private balconies, but this is very misleading. I booked a king size room with balcony, only to find out that the balcony was shared with the adjoining room. I did not book a king bed with private balcony to share the balcony with a stranger. I don't think that's comfortable for anyone. I ended up moving to another room with no balcony. The staff is friendly, the service is fine, and the setting is picturesque. I guess I expected something better.

We won a $500 gift card for a stay here and that's the only reason we spent the money on staying at this hotel. The couple we traveled with paid the full price and thank goodness they had a nicer room than us. Ours was definitely not updated as other recent reviews report. There was nasty carpet on the floor, and the shower is an accident waiting to happen. The bed was comfortable and that's why I gave the room 2 stars rather than only 1. Three of the four of us ordered from the Friday Fish special and thought it was decent. The fourth ordered the Tiger Prawns, which initially were delicious, but ended up giving her food poisoning. So she spent most of the day on Saturday in bed and in the bathroom. The waiter was young and anxious to serve. He did a great job accommodating us, but I'm still wondering why there was no salt or pepper on any of the tables. The front desk workers seemed to always have something more important on their computers to handle than to answer questions or welcome guests.
The location is the best part of the whole place. It's an easy walk to any of the shops on either side of the bridge, and the local taverns are super fun to bar hop.
I hope the resort uses this next off season to finish updating their rooms to match the outrageous price tag people pay to stay here.

The location of this hotel is beautiful, right on the marina; we got to watch the bridge open for several sailboats! The rooms are outdated, the air conditioning unit is very loud without a lot of options to adjust; there were bugs all over the windowsill. The indoor pool and hot tub were nice but the sauna wasnβt working properly. We werenβt allowed to get a cot for our room and the outdoor pool was βlocked for maintenanceβ. When I asked for any sort of comp due to the pool unavailability, I was told that we have to check out in an hour anyway so it doesnβt matter. The hotel restaurant doesnβt have a kidβs food option for breakfast and only 6 very adult oriented options. Overall okay experience.

For over 10 years are family has come to this hotel to celebrate 4th of July. In years past, weβve always loved this place for the bands, the rooms, etc. Over the course of the last year the hotel has gone over a remodel. The decor is modern and nice, but missing that nostalgic flare. The pool got a massive upgrade that I absolutely love with new concrete and new furniture. The one thing I was disappointed about was the lack of live music and the location at which they chose to place the one band they had. Overall, still a great location by the water but still a work in progress with the improvements

Very unhappy with my stay, carpet had bad stains, and was so dirty you could not tell the original color ! Toilet seat was discolored and shower door tracks were in dire need of replacement. I was not informed that my room would be next to live music that played until 10:30 p.m. This was disturbing as I am 81 and needed to try and get some sleep for my Grand daughters wedding the next day. The price is outrageous for the condition of the rooms. It is clear the manager does not keep a handle on the condition and running of the motel. I make many trips to that area and will not spend the money to stay at there again ! Pat Olson

We were told they had a room to accommodate our large family. We were told there would be a rollaway bed. What actually happened? This disabled veteran had to sleep on the floor with ruptured discs so my wife and children would have beds. Brought it up to staff, they had no solution for me.

Very outdated rooms!! Door wasnβt aligned with the frame and had to force it open and closed. Tiny television mounted to the wall, tiny beverage refrigerator sitting on the floor, furniture is in dire need of replacement. We werenβt handed an information sheet at check in that tells you the policy for clean towels, do we had to go to the front desk and ask for clean towels. This should verbally be told at check in. Will not stay here again at the outrageous price they charge.

We stayed for another New Year's Eve and were pleasantly surprised with the updates....new carpeting in the hallways, new paint on the walls, new updated bar area. Hopefully they will start working on updating the rooms with new carpet, paint and furniture. The only thing they need to refine is the New Year's Eve package to make it more affordable as it is getting expensive to stay. We want to thank Johnny, Ari and Ryan in the pub area for your great service. We liked that they put the gambling machines in a separate area. They also need to accept AAA, AARP, Military and other discounts like other hotels will accomodate. They should also offer a return guest discount that would get guests to return on a more frequest basis.

Went to Stone Harbor the other night for dinner and everything was absolutely phenomenal! I ordered the salmon with the garlic smashed potatoes and my husband ordered a steak with a loaded baked potato and everything was cooked to perfection. Weβve definitely eaten here in the past and swore we would never return but recently we have heard great things and figured letβs give it another shot and let me just say we were not disappointed. Service was amazing we were unsure what to get and she gave us amazing recommendations. Our drinks were great as well I had an espresso martini and it was by far the best one I have ever had! My husband got a bourbon old fashioned and they have a great selection for bourbon. It was a little strange the way everything is set up but everyone is still very positive and willing to go that extra mile to give great service and even better experience.

I've been to Stone Harbor a number of times for a lot of different reasons. I've stayed in the hotel, been to events hosted in the ballroom, went to the bar for drinks and music, and plenty of other reasons. I've never had a bad experience here. The rooms are very nice, the bar/restaurant have good service, the staff have always been kind and attentive to me, and the trivia on Thursday's is a blast! This is always the place I tell people to stay when they come to Sturgeon Bay. It's one of the more expensive places to stay, but I'd say it's well worth it! The only comment I have, is that the food is a bit pricey for the quality. That being said, the food is quite good (the view and fun activities are more than worth the splurge on dinner from time to time).

I made reservations before hand and told them it was my moms birthday and once we started to finish up our meals our server came back with a ice cream sundae which had chocolate drizzle sprinkles and a cherry with a candle on top our server also sang happy birthday which made it even better! Will definitely be returning

I can't tell you what I don't know but here is what I do know from my stay. The room was $187.00 for a basic king. The bathroom was tiny and the door opened into the bathroom so far you had to dance between the toilet and the countertop to open it. There is no room service during the day. I came back expecting new towels only to find they did nothing. The restaurant is closed. Well, you can sit in their old giftshop where they set up a makeshift restaurant and stare at Mary, Peter and Paul sitting 2 inches from you while you try to eat. The pool is closed and drained. There is no continental breakfast during the week because apparently weekend guests matter more. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the budget hotels in the area. You will probably get much better service and amenities. For a more expensive hotel this place sure isn't "it".

I put ( 1 ) on the review because they didn't offer less. I have stayed here for 4 plus years on and off and have been disappointed more often than not. Never read reviews until tonight or i may have never stayed, obviously they had enough money at some point to steal one of the best locations in sturgeon bay only to disappoint many after the reviews I have read tonight. I too am back with a certificate from a previous stay in which so many things didn't work, they seem to think a free room is the answer. I could go on but I will end with, I will not return and the concept of owner owned hotels/ condo units is a bad idea. No offense, but my father once said, to many, cheifs not enough Indians.

I recently organized a fundraiser for a local non-profit, and we chose Stone Harbor as the venue. They were extremely accommodating and helpful! Cathy, the staff member assigned for set-up and lunch service, did a fantastic job. From the moment I arrived in the morning, she had everything organized and set-up as we had requested. At the end of our event, we had a pizza party lunch. It was all set at exactly the time we requested, and the food was great. If you've never had the pizza at Stone Harbor, you need to try it. They even provided a gluten free option with a cauliflower crust. This is the second year we've used Stone Harbor for our event, and we've already booked for next year!

My wife and I stayed here to visit our daughter in Sturgeon Bay and to go to Fall Fest in Sister Bay. The first thing you see when you walk into the hotel is a large, nicely decorated two story lobby. It also has a small gift shop. Check- in was fast and easy. The person working the front desk was friendly and helpful, giving us some pointers about attending the Fall Fest. We booked a double queen without balcony (we thought it might be too cold to use a balcony), and our room was at the west end of the resort near the spa (yes, there is a spa there) on the third floor. The way the resort is laid out it looks like every room gives you at least a partial view of the water, which is nice. Another interesting thing is that every queen room appears to be a connecting room, so if you are traveling with young children and needing connecting rooms this could be a big plus. The hallways and stairwells appeared to have new carpet and newly painted. Everything looked very nice. Our room was about the size you would expect for a double queen, and there were a decent number of electrical outlets (contrary to one review I read). Based on the hotel map on our door, I could tell that the double queens with balcony are a little smaller than the double queens without balcony, so that may explain the one negative review I read about the room sizes. In the summer, you might consider the trade-off of being able to sit outside and view the bay versus having less floor space. The carpet in our room was not new (like in the hallways) but it was clean. Aside from the carpet the room seemed like it had been recently updated. The bathroom was a little bit smaller than average, I would say, but not to the point where it was a problem. Our room had a small fridge, but surprisingly no microwave, which I found unusual. We didn't try the restaurant, but did go to the bar (they are side by side off the main lobby). They both have an awesome view of the water, and outside there is a multi level patio with tables shared by the bar and restaurant also facing the water. The servers at the bar were friendly and attentive. If you are a bourbon drinker, you will be impressed by their selection of premium bourbons (they even had Pappy!). We didn't use the pool there but there is a very nice indoor pool area with a very large whirlpool adjacent to the pool. They also have a large outdoor pool. The location of the hotel worked out great for us with bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Overall we had a vey good experience at Stone Harbor and I would definitely stay there again.

This is a terrible place to stay. Currently in a room that two people can barely walk around in, there is NO PLACE to store luggage, the floors sticky and unclean. Why do guests have to wipe down everything upon entering the room? You can't even relax at night to watch TV due to the unworkable remote as well as the poorly set TV. It's almost like management enjoys sticking you in the smallest room possible so they can screw you out of as much money as possible.
No breakfast! Can't wait to leave this place. Most of the staff can't speak English. Worst place I've stayed in years...you're better off in a Super 8.

If you like staying in a room that is so small 2 people can barely walk around in. There is no place for luggage, floors sticky and unclean. Shower is terrible and a Hazzard for senior citizens. Only a few people here speak English. Now the cost...honestly I feel like management's only goal is to stick you in a small room and screw you on cost. I'm writing this while still here...I'm stuck for another night and can't wait to leave. Will NEVER stay here again!

This place is in bad need of updates. If you look at the carpet under the a/c, youβll see the original color. Hint: itβs not what the rest of the room looks like. The bathroom is very dated. Old school 1990βs jetted tub, and βslidingβ glass doors that donβt slide. The bed was hard as a rock. Cracked tiles in the bathroom and in the lobby. We have been to Stone Harbor for many years and always have enjoyed it in the past. Since the new management has taken over itβs a different place. Weβve recently been there for breakfast and found no one there to seat us, coincidentally an employee walked in, couldnβt find anyone and said she would take care of us. The service was very slow and we were the ones in the dining room. We have been there several times for lunch this summer, twice the food was not prepared the way we asked and today we waited 45 minutes for our food.
If it werenβt for the fact that we have a gift certificate for Stone Harbor I doubt we would go back.

Drove up from St. Paul, MN. Called around 2:30 to get a early check-in around 3pm but was told hotel was full and rooms were not ready yet. Oh well, strange when were talking about 1 room. A place this big should have some rooms set aside for this since i called the day before and asked about a 3pm check in. All hotels should have sleep timers for your T.V. remote!!! Also, no strike plates on the deck door. not very safe.

My mom and I went to eat on Sunday. The food was okay nothing special. But there was a small problem. As we were enjoying our food, a little boy kept running around with a toy remote car making it distracting to enjoy our dinner. We believed that is was one of the cooks son. I have to say, that is no place for a kid to be running around the restaurant like that. That is super unprofessional.

We had a double suite with two bathrooms and a kitchen. and fireplace (LOL didn't use). The view from the balcony of the bay and many large boats was great. We watched a live concert sitting on our balcony.

I was there for a wedding, the service was very good. The hallway bartender was very friendly. And she did a great job!

New management has changed the direction for this place.
Outdoor bands are now aimed at the hotel which is loud!
We used to love to come eat there.
But apparently they dumped their great salad bar.
Back to Sunny's!

Had dinner here on a Friday night, and Abby was a great server as she was attentive. Great old fashions and the crusted walleye was fantastic. They also had a live band on the deck overlooking the harbor. They were playing old-time rock and were very entertaining.

I'm only reviewing the restaurant, however it's very sad that a place with such a great location has a poor restaurant. We waited 15 minutes before a waitress got to us (we were served water, but why can't the same person get us some beverages?) and were just about to go somewhere else. Prime rib was marginal and they actually tried to bill me for a king cut, which is what I ordered, when all I got was a kids cut. Wife's shrimp was good but that was about it.

The room was great, and the accommodations were nice. It was convenient to have both a bar and restaurant on site. The person working the front was very blunt, not rude, but certainly not friendly. Our stay was a nice weekend getaway. I would stay again.

Very outdated and mediocre for the price.
When booking a balcony room please check to see if it faces the water. We booked a queen balcony room and we're very disappointed as is was floor level (This should be listed as a patio, not a balcony). The room also only had a view of the courtyard and other wing of hotel, no water. Our neighbors smoked so we couldn't even enjoy being out there...In addition we were in room 100 right off the main hall and near the front desk, ultra noisy at all hours. Never again.

We went to visit our son during President's weekend. The town was celebrating the Fire and Ice event, which the resort held some functions. Great place! Bar was rocking and the band that played was incredible.

Our recent stay at Stone Harbor Resort once again did not disappoint! There are many different room configurations to choose from to suit your specific wants/needs, which make it a perfect choice for a getaway. Exceptional accommodations include options for rooms with view of Sturgeon Bay Harbor, fireplace, jacuzzi tub, kitchen/dinning area, and of course comfortable beds/pillows, and most important, cleanliness throughout the resort. The pool area is spacious including the hot tub. These amenities along with their friendly staff, great food, live entertainment, and close to Door County's adventures are the reasons we keep coming back! ||Richard & Christy

I am a photographer that has photographed a few weddings at Stone Harbor and I just have to say that it is a great spot for a wedding! It's large enough for a big guest list, will take care of all the catering, and has plenty of rooms so your guests don't have to drive. The lawn outside, with a few of the water, is a stunning ceremony site. And as a photographer, I love the waterfront views of the bridge and stunning sunsets!

We have stayed numerous times at this resort. We love the location and the pub...We have noticed that the rooms are in need of updates along with the carpeting in the hallways. The bartenders (Johnnie Walker and Ryan) are great but we noticed some of the younger bartenders lack the customer service that we get from Johnnie and Ryan. In some cases, they completely ignored us and kept talking to peopel they knew. We were not the only people to notice, there was a man from Minnesota that got the same treatment and he was pissed. They always hav great bands here and there food is good. Cannot wait for the Tiki Bar to be open so we can visit again. Hopefully, we see improvements when we come next time.

A high end resort. The rooms are clean and modern. Staff are polite. The view of the bridge and marina from the bar is gorgeous. They often have live entertainment. The bar has a martini menu.

Beautiful waterfront hotel. Super quiet at night. Bed and pillows were comfy. Older hotel which gives it its charm. Could use a few repairs but was clean. Food was excellent and all staff I encountered were very nice. Was there 4 days.

Drinks were inconsistant, guy with cap put very little alcohol in drinks. Girl behind bar had wnba on every tv. When we asked to get a diff channel on, she got angry. Then other patrons were asking as well. Did not seem welcoming.

The restaurant has good food, but the service was not top rate. The hostess seemed mad that she had to seat people and I was there at 505, right after opening so it was slow and the waiter would disappear and never brought/ asked about refills for drinks.

Actually, we have only eaten at the restaurant. Very good. Great food and bar. Great staff. We mainly go for the live entertainment on the patio, right by the marina on the Bay. Great outside Tiki bar. Big crowds. Lots of fun.

We had dinner only. It was ok, I wouldn't say anything fabulous. Had the shrimp scampi linguine, very bland. Others said the steak was decent. Perch special was soggy like they cooked early and let it sit.
