Great location, great service! I had the Chicken Caesar, it was very good with the Brussel sprout (wonderfully crispy) side. I was missing the cornbread croutons and online it said the lettuce was charred. Those would be yummy additions, but it was great anyway.

Stopped for lunch. The place was very clean and the waitress was great. The food was disappointing. I had the pork sandwich which is described as piled high , topped with pineapple slaw on a toasted bun. What I got was a cold dry bun with lukewarm pork, just enough to cover the bun and a teaspoon of slaw on top. I also got a side of lukewarm Mac and Cheese that was just okay. My husband got the pork platter which he also said was lukewarm, with slaw and potato salad. He did think the beer was good. It was an okay meal but no need to visit again.

Perfect stop for amazing BBQ! There is not a dedicated Fryer so you’re limited on your sides, but the beans are out of this world and the pineapple coleslaw is fabulous. They do not use Udi’s buns, which is great. They use Rotella buns which are light and remind me of Culvers.

Pretty poor experience here this afternoon, my wife and I got seated pretty quickly and then put our drink order in. 5 minutes later got our drinks and placed our order. Our cheese curds came, and while she handed us them she told us that both out entrees we had ordered were no longer available and that the rest of the menu was "slim pickens" ummm what? You guys didn't know you were running out of items a half hour ago? I ordered brisket for I believe $28 and ended up getting 2 cold pieces of it my wife's taco that she ended up getting was decent but also came out cold. Our bill was just shy of $90. I was blown away they brought us drinks and an app and then tell us most entrees are sold out. That's a total scam in my opinion.

The food was exceptional, just the right amount of smokey flavor. It had a traditional environment you would expect from a small house, it was neat and clean. The server Laura, was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back, I was passing through but I'm willing to make the one hour drive to come and enjoy the food here again !

Went here with my family recently, good food and amazing service, but the music was so loud we had to shout to hear eachother. Our server Aaden was incredibly nice and helpful. The food was good, but the meat doesn't have much flavor on it's own, and comes as pretty small portions. Its pretty much the barbeque you'd expect in the midwest, the baked beans were amazing though, and the service was great.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. The only reason service got 2 stars was because the food came insanely fast.
Other than taking my order, the server never even acknowledged me, even when I paid, didn’t ask me how my food was, thank me or even make eye contact with me.
Brisket was mediocre, the sauces didn’t have really any flavor, in my opinion. Mac and cheese was really good. The cornbread muffin was extremely bland.

CAMPERS BEWARE, MID GRADE FOOD AND RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE.

We were staying at a Campsite nearby and decided to go out after tubing. We were sat down quickly but it took around 15 minutes to be visited by our waitress and get waters. When we finally were, she made no effort to really greet us or acknowledge the delay and just took our drink orders. Knowing there could be a staffing issue causing a delay, we wanted to put our appetizer and entree orders in at the same time. When she finally came back around again for apps, she took 2 of our orders and immediately darted off while another person in our party was still talking to her and we then knew we would be forced to wait even longer for our meals. At this point, we decided to just get our entrees to go rather than bearing this wait. Though, this whole ordeal still took almost 2 hours. Understaffed maybe? I can understand that, tell us if it’s like that so we can know rather than be left in the dark. I can have grace with people in that situation.

BUT what topped it all off was that the waitress was rude at nearly every interaction. When my girlfriend asked about what the nachos had on them , it was met with a short answer and a frankly bitchy expression/inflection. She never came by and asked us how the food was or if we needed more water. At the end when it was time to pay, she didn’t ask us if we wanted to split it up for our party or anything, she just brought me the bill and left.

We DID want to split it, but it was not worth staying at this place a minute longer at that point.

The food was okay, their bbq sauces are good. I don’t think the food was as good as they position it to be. I wasn’t all that impressed. I expected much more for the price especially. Usually I don’t mind if service lacks and the food is amazing, but neither the appetizers nor the entrees were anything I would look to eat again.

We love coming up here and camping and tubing down the river, but we will never be returning here. Don’t waste your time on your get away.

Stopped in kind of early during the off-season. The space is great, clean and inviting. The service from Heather was phenomenal. She was very friendly, offering options to our kids, filling in details about the menu, and just seemed happy to be there. That service goes a long way!

Unfortunately I found the meat to be very average. I got the brisket and pulled pork platter. The brisket was tender but a bit cold, and neither meat had much of a detectable smoky flavor. The sides fared better, with amazing fries and good cheese curds (if interesting square cut). Fried green beans were batter heavy, which detracted from them overall. Pineapple slaw was a good complement.

We will definitely come back a try it again during a busier time. I think that would help with the meat.

Update July 2025: stopped in again during the week. Very busy, but good service as before. Pop overs were alright, strawberry butter a good flavor adder. Got the brisket again, much better than in the spring, tender and tasty. Tried new sides. The baked beans were delicious, the sprouts a little overcooked but good. Awesome pit-smoked meat selection, this time chose a Brisket burger paired with potato salad and a chocolate stout, son had the same but paired with baked beans and an Irish red ale. My husband and I just ate here. I got the Taco Kit with brisket for the meat. Nicely satisfying and lite meal. The side I chose was the hot honey sprouts. They were great!!!
My husband got the brisket mac. The mac portion was perfectly sized and the brisket topping was delicious. I would suggest providing the option to double the brisket because he LOVES brisket and it is delicious here. He also loved the sprouts side!

We had a great experience. Ordered bayou shrimp ( 2 orders), burnt ends for appetizers for the four of us. Shrimp were spicey and cooked perfect. Burnt ends were very tasty also. Small portions and huge, crazy prices.
Dry, flavorless brisket, really dry and flavorless brisket.
Totally flavorless pulled pork.

They add, quoting from their website, a "relatively insignificant 4% charge" to cover employee benefits.
If it is so "insignificant" why don't they pay it themselves?
Maybe just increase the (already crazy high) prices 4% rather than adding a surprise surcharge to your bill at the end of meal?
Does the surprise billing of 4% actually go to the employees or does it just pad the owner's profits?
Seriously, just raise prices on the menu and be up front with charges.

Mac and cheese was OK but small.
Cornbread was very small (but it did have a good flavor).
Service was OK but nothing special. We waited longer for the bill to come than for the meal...I guess they forgot us?
Actually, the bill never came, my wife and I had to track the waitperson down to get and pay our bill! (She was, for some reason, not coming out of the back, the bar tender had to finally go get her!)
Atmosphere was nice, bright, clean and new looking...but nothing special...kind'a too open, cold and sterile (IMHO).
Free peanuts on the table were not bad.
My wife and I cannot recommend the restaurant and have no reason to go back.

Food was... ok. Everything was a bit dry, our server hardly checked on us, did not explain the sauces. Some portions were good sized.. others... lacking. We got the feast and received 1 cornbread muffin as our sode option. The other party at our table ordered the popovers as an appitizer, they were cool and not warm like most popovers are served. For the little town of Trego, this place is great. Sat outside last summer with a bunch of family members. Had very good service. Lots of different food choices were ordered. Brisket sand was great. Ate here with a group the other day and let’s just say I wasn’t expecting the experience I got. Atmosphere was fine, food was AMAZING but the service was bad. Part of the group already ate here before and they said that they messed up the dinner order.

This time, they somehow managed to mess up our dinner order as well. The restaurant wasn’t busy and I saw the waitress writing down our orders but somehow… food orders got messed up again. On top of that, they completely forgot to make my meal which was the brisket burger. They brought out the fries right away, which I wasn’t a fan of.

Another thing that was an issue is that multiple people in our group got the Brisket Burger and every server called it the Patty Melt. The name on the menu is Brisket Burger Patty Melt. Which is it, a burger or a patty melt?

With all that being said, I do like this restaurant but management needs to start making changes.

First time coming here and I live locally. I was not impressed with the food. The ribs we ordered were dry and overcooked. We ordered the brisket and pulled pork as an add on to try and those were both dry as well. I ordered 1 beer the Red Right Hand (must be a peaky blinder fan) was 6.25. The bartender was really nice!
Whoever is smoking the meat, should get some lessons. Does the cook taste the food before it is sent out of the kitchen? It's definitely quanity over quality. I unfortunately will not be back.

Wow just wow, from the efficiency and friendliness of the staff to the fantastic food this is a must go to if you’ve never been and a repeat return trip as well. Let’s start with the bayou shrimp appetizer - holy smokes was that great and flavorful, 9 large shrimp 🍤 with that bayou kick. I’d love to have them over a linguini pasta (or Mac) as a dish 😉 (menu suggestion) We had the half rack ribs and 1/2 chicken and shared so we got to try each. Can’t recommend them high enough, the ribs were fall off the bone and the chicken so tender and flavorful both being the best I’ve ever had. The sweet potato fries were waffle fries 🤤 good and sidewinder fries good as well. The pineapple slaw was a nice surprise so good and different from the usual slaw. Now the homemade sauces again a wow, the Alabama white sauce I used to dip my sweet potato fries, chicken and ribs in I loved it that much. The cranberry bbq sauce so flavorful and good. The staff clearly wants to work here and it shows. I believe Heidi was our server and she was fantastic. If I could give this place overall more than 5 ⭐️’s I would. Don’t walk, run to give them a try. Oh and they provide salted in the shell 🥜 for you to snack on and toss shells on floor while you wait. I’d recommend everything we ate. Can’t wait to try the other items on the menu. We sure will be back as happy customers on 10-10-24

Met a friend for lunch. First time visiting this location. Have been to Roundman in Spooner several times. Service was outstanding (thanks Michelle L).

All the food was great. We both had the pulled pork platters and shared the turnover appetizer. The baked beans were good. Be warned that the hot honey sprouts have a burn! The peanuts were fun. The patio looks nice but not the best day to eat outside.

4 homemade sauces are offered.

It was busy but not crazy busy. Only complaint is it is loud. I can't imagine the sound level when the place is packed.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back, likely at an off time to reduce noise level.

Visited while staying at my friends cabin in Trego Wisconsin. We’ve been to Round Man many times and visiting Strong Man was amazing.

One of us in the group is gluten free and there were so many options for them.

The meat, sides, apps and beers were some of the best you can find. We shared the feast between five people, we tried many sides and the shrimp and pork wings. The all stars of the meal were the pork wings, hot honey sprouts, sidewinder fries, pulled pork, ribs and Mac. A few of us got cocktails and those were also top tier.

Service was impeccable. Our waitress was fun, personable and had great recommendations. She was attentive and I hope to have her again.

I had the brisket patty melt and it was delicious. Sweet potato fries were nice and crispy. My husband had grilled cheese with pulled pork and loved it. Their BBQ sauces are amazing.
Aaden was our server and although he referred to himself as "new" there, he knocked it out of the park and provided friendly, prompt, and great service.

Our first visit last night first thing was terrible noisy could hardly carry on a conversation my friend had brisket got one small 6 inch slice I had pulled pork one small ice cream scoop total bill with a couple beers was $70 will never go back !!!!

Food was amazingly delicious. Brussels sprouts were the best I have ever had. Pineapple slaw on the pork sandwich was so good. Popovers with strawberry butter were sinfully delicious. We liked absolutely everything we ordered and will definitely be back even though it’s out of the way for us. Our server Michelle was awesome as well.

Worst ribs and beans ever! Ribs were way overdone and the beans were like Mexican refried beans texture. Not like good bbq. Tossed it all out after one bite by all and went for pizza. So disappointing, we love bbq and we’re hopeful this would be better than hog wild in Solon. We live in Minong and looking forward to more options in our restaurant desert. This is not it

I've eaten at some of the best BBQ places including Franklin's in Austin TX a number of times and The Strongman ranks right up there with Franklin's. The brisket was awesome!

As I sat down to the bar, pulled my bar stool closer to the bar my hands stuck to the bottom of the bar stool.. YUCK... faucets did not work in the bathroom. No domestic beer unless you are a bud light fan.. obvious the oil had not been changed for fried foods, another YUCK. Bartender coughed into her hand as passing me our food trays. YUCK AGAIN. what a waste spending all that money on remodeling, and having a filthy place with questionable food.. I can not recommend this place.

Very nice atmosphere as a smokehouse. Great food and good prices. Have homemade sauces with good flavors. Believes the pickles may have been homemade also. They had some heat and sweet to them. They may need to think about packaging both the sauces and pickles for retail sales. Went there for lunch and got in @ 11:15. Didn't take long to start filling up. Nice selection of their craft beers and regular domestic.

Be prepared to wait, but there is a reason....it's worth it!
Hubby and I had the Feast (best deal and you get to try all the meats!) comes with 4 sides. We took home leftovers! Staff was very friendly! Atmosphere is great!

Marvelous what they did to the place! Spacious, clean, abundant seating, and big horseshoe bar so theres not a bad seat in the place! We love tap beer so definitely the selection of cold fresh tappers is a total hit. We’ll be back plenty from here on out to try lots of stuff on their menu. Staff was all so nice a cheery and quick! Keep it up, we’re saddling up to be regulars!
