In the '70s my mom worked at UWM, and as a treat, she'd come home with subs from Suburpia on Downer. When I turned 18, I'd hang out at The Barbary Coast on North and Prospect where after bar time, we'd head to Suburpia down the street. Now, as far as I know, the only original left is on Bluemound. I go at least once a month. Always loaded with meats, reasonably priced, and tasty!

If you want a sandwich that taste like your eating a plastic bag.. This is the place! Only reason why they survived 2000's is old costumers with tired out taste buds. The prices they charge for you get should be marbel floor and big screen TV. Just a run down dirty restaurant. A couple of colleagues mentioned this spot has been a staple in the area for years, and I realized I’d never tried it. We grabbed takeout sandwiches for lunch, and I was impressed. The menu is simple, the sandwiches are hearty and flavorful, and the prices are very reasonable. If you’re looking for a solid sandwich under $10, this is the place. I’d definitely go again.

The subs are great, except for the brisket which is too dry. Occasionally the sandwich preparer doesn't add enough oil to the sandwiches. The Miles doesn't have as much meat as the old days so I get the Whitehouse which actually has too much meat.

It just ain't quite the same as the Cudahy location. Bread didn't seem quite as fresh. The clerk made an error by charging me for four sammiches instead of the three I actually ordered and caught it after I charged it, but still. What if it hadn't been noticed by the clerk? I might not have caught it. How many other customers did not notice such a snafu. Hummm, questions. Oh well.

I come in 2-3 times a week for lunch, same sandwich every time. King Louie/crab salad is amazing! Thick cheese, tons of mayo & oil, not too strong diced onion. I love a messy sandwich, and this place nails it every single time.

The sub sandwich was fresh and really good, BUT did NOT taste at all like the original ones....not even close.

I loved the flavor of that zesty oil they used to use; it would drip into the plastic sandwhich bag, but I dont think they even put it on there anymore. BUMMER!

We just brought our sandwiches home which is 5 minutes away a 1/4 of my sandwich was so soggy from oil it was drenched in, no mayo, and the bread on the other side was hard. So disappointed I love the way they used to make them they were the way the original Suburpia sandwiches were in the 1970s. I have been going to Suburpia since 1974 & was very happy this location (which was across the street originally) opened after all the problems the original owner faced. We ordered the Miles Standish as we always do and it was not the same as it was even last year. The oil & seasonings were nothing like the used to be. I did not even need the bag. It's too bad as this location made the subs so close to the original.
