We have enjoyed Summers on Long, and thought the food and drinks were pretty darn good....until Labor Day weekend 2025. On Saturday we brought some friends from out of town...all 4 of us have been there before and really liked it. The food and drinks were very good!
.....this time, not so much. Service was pretty slow. Maybe under staffed for the holiday weekend.
I and another person in our party had the fish tacos. Yuck! The fish was very fishy tasting, with a ton of salsa on them that was not much better. Another person in our party ordered the shrimp kabobs which were way undercooked. None of us ate much at all on our plates. The waitress could not get to us as she was very busy. When she did get to our table, she was asked for a price reduction, just on the shrimp dinner, but said she could not do that.

We totally understand prices are going up. And when we go out, we are willing to pay for a good meal. This was NOT that.
I will never understand why any busness owner (Summers on Long is fairly new...used to be Props) would sink a ton of money into remodeling and upgrades....from the new docks on the lake, beautiful outdoor seating, nice interior.....and then lower the quality of the food. With so many "bar and grill" type restaraunts in the area, this could be be a real stand out.
It is getting too expensive to pay for great atmosphere but below average meals and service. A busy holiday weekend isn't a good excuse...manage your product, staff numbers, and plan ahead. We won't be back. Cheaper to grill quality food and mix drinks at home.

Wow! Our rental recommended the BBQ here, and we checked it out on a whim. It was lovely in every way! The outdoor seating was comfortable, with a beautiful view of the lake and a nice breeze. Our server was nice, attentive, and was able to make great suggestions when we had questions. The food was delicious! Everyone in our party would recommend their choice:
**Brisket with beans and coleslaw
**Pulled pork sandwich with side salad
**Anchor burger with fries
We also shared cheese curds, and I had a great blackberry cider on tap. Their menu is online, making it easy to look ahead if you want. Highly recommend!!

Our bartender was awesome and helpful. The internet was down, so they had problems processing tabs and payment. We paid with cash, so we were ok. We had steak bites, which were good. But, we also had "smoked" wings. They were way too smoky, back off on the wood, almost inedible and were way under done. The fries were OK, small portion.

We ate on the deck with x3 grandchildren and x4 adults! We’ve been there before for lunch but took fam this time! Lovely day and great service! Got there before 5 so not so busy yet? Would really only come here during off hours. Food is fine. Pretty standard bar food. But the kitchen is easily overwhelmed. It took almost 2 hours to get our food. This isn't complicated food. It's burgers or fried chicken sandwiches. 2 hours is ridiculous, even for a busy night.

Edit: An extremely poor response by the owner. I'm not going to pretend to be a restaurant expert. But I can tell you that my experience was poor because of a 2 hour wait for a basic chicken sandwich with nothing on it except 2 pickles. If you have a small kitchen, that's something to take into consideration with your own menu planning or number of tables you have available in your restaurant (or whatever else might help. Again, not a restaurant expert). You are right. You are not the place for me. My 2 hours are too valuable to waste on average food. Will not be back and have lowered my rating.

Recommended - The experience on a warm spring day was unbelievable! Watching eagles, pontoon boats, and the people. We were a table of 8, and the waitress, kitchen, and bartender were able to keep up. The food was excellent. All in all, it is a great day at Summers on Long.

This is my second summer and second time trying this place. I really want to like it, but I just don’t. I’m not a Karen and I understand people want to have fun, but we went for lunch and a group of men were so wasted at the bar they just made me want to leave. They were sooo loud and obnoxious and I thought it was sort of crazy because it’s like a nice looking restaurant and not just a dive bar. Tried out this year on Mother’s Day and man what a mess. Table next to us got their food at all different times over an hour and a half. I heard the kitchen tell a lady one meal was because they kitchen couldn’t poach an egg, but it was noon and they had multiple eggs benny meals on the menu, how could they have not got that down by noon? Took us an hour to get my food. Forgot the cheese on my burger. And the mac and cheese was cold. Didn’t even want the mac but apparently they were out of fries. I mean you guys took reservations so you’d think you’d have a better idea than on a normal weekend of how much food to have…. Won’t be back, pioneer on long lake has literally never let us down so I guess we will just keep going there

Service and atmosphere were fabulous. We had the brisket, which was excellent. The sides were not so great. The coleslaw was actually broccoli slaw. It was fine, but not what we were expecting. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm when served. They would have been better, were they hot. We ordered cheese curds, and they arrived minutes before our dinner. Would have liked time to enjoy them prior to our dinner. Overall, it was a good experience that would've been exceptional had our food been hot and better paced. We'll likely return in the future.
Return visit on 5/8/25. Excellent brisket, pulled pork and sides. Great service and atmosphere.

We had an enjoyable girls night at Summers. The food portions weren't huge, but we were all satisfied after dinner. The smoked chicken I had was great and the smashed red potatoes, though I would have appreciated more than 3 potatoes. I love cornbread, and I was looking forward to it, but it was not good at all. Very dry and had a weird taste like Tupperware. My friends seem to enjoy their burgers and one salad. The dill pickle cheese curds were also delicious. We were bummed that all the outdoor tables were full when we arrived, but still enjoyed our time. They also gave us all individual checks without complaints which was nice.

Ok, first off just to save everyone the trouble. Seat yourself, assign yourself a waitress. We waited for a clean table. Then the waitress sat us down and gave us menus and left. 40 minutes later we flagged down saud waitress and asked if she was our waitress. She said "oh, I can be". I said well you sat us down and never came back, no waters or anything. Took our order. It took 45 minutes for our appetizer to come out, only after we asked how long it was gonna be. She said oh, your appetizer has been up for 5 minutes. Your food is just now being cooked. Not one time did she stop and bring us more water. We finally got our food at 7:15, ordered placed at 5:15. When we voiced this to Taylor the manager she offered to take a couple drinks off our $95 bill bringing it to $75.i will not be back here due to this. Even if this was an isolated incident, I feel there could have been more compensation because there isn't much more they can offer after that let down.

Edit: I returned 5 months later and the food has gotten if anything better, I came in at 11:30 on a Wednesday and waited only 10 minutes for all of our food (2 Kickin Chickens and some curds), our server was incredibly friendly and showed great hospitality. Brought out drinks without asking the second they were getting low. Would recommend trying it to anyone and everyone food is truly out of this world.

Came here from out of town. Tried to order appetizers only to find out they were out of both wings, and cheese curds. O.k. so we ordered the Nachos. Nothing was said, about the portion we ordered, we had 9 people in our group. Order comes, and it was enough for maybe 1.5 people. Got the brisket dinner, it was dry as can be. Needed a lot of BBQ sauce to make it edible. The side I ordered was "Creamy coleslaw". This was the most un-creamiest coleslaw I've ever seen. Ordered the mashed reds for a potato side. Portion was 6 very small baby reds. Portions were ridiculous for the price. Food was miserable here. Only redeeming quality was the great server.

Short version: No manager on duty. No senior staff in charge. Kitchen far behind, not communicating to wait staff. Wait staff vastly undertrained. Wait staffnot communicating to customer kitchen is behind. Wait staff ignoring/not checking on table during the long wait.

Here's what happened: Arriving the parking lot was nearly full so we expected a wait for a table. We actually got a table right away. The wait staff took the drink order & appetizer order right away. Received drinks, except the bar order - because when we asked the wait staff, Lily, she forgot to enter it. Received the appetizer. Forgot plates, napkins & silverware. Received the bar order. Ordered the meals, six dinners. Finished the appetizer. Waiting. Placed another bar order for 1 drink. Received bar order. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. We were not told the kitchen was running behind. We could see it was busy so we were trying to be patient. The view of the lake is beautiful. Waiting. All drinks are empty. Waiting. Wait staff Lily is not checking in with us to see if we need more drinks and is definitely not communicating that the kitchen is behind. Waiting. Waiting. I ask a different wait staff to please send our wait staff Lily over. Don't know if that wait staff ever told Lily because she came to clear the empty table next to us. I turn around and say "excuse me, could you check on our food?" Wait staff Lily says yes BUT instead fills and brings water to a table outside. We watch her go out with the water then come inside only to go directly back to clear the table next to us. I turn around again, "Excuse me, can you check on our food?" Wait staff Lily says yes then casually walks away. Waiting. Wait staff Lily comes over and says our food is coming up "right now". We now ask for a manager. She said there isn't a manager there. No manager. No one in charge. No senior, well seasoned staff even acting as manager for the night.
She then goes to sit in the back corner with 2 other wait staff. And we're waiting again. Finally the food comes out. At this point Lily finally says sorry about the wait. Ok but we ask again to talk to a manager. They sent over a young bartender, not the manager, but unfortunately for him he's the one chosen to talk with us. He says "we can do 10 or 20 percent off." At this point it's too little too late. We suggest that they use the 10-20% to put towards management and training. Obviously the kitchen was having trouble keeping up. Obviously wait staff needs more training. Lily had no hustle, no common customer service skills, no friendliness, no copping skills, no urgency, little to no training. And you absolutely need to have management on site. With our bill, it's timestamp was 5:48pm, order food came out at 7:20pm. That's outrageous to have to wait 1 1/2 hours without any communication.

We had lunch here on a rainy Friday. The view is gorgeous, and there is a lot of outdoor seating for nicer days. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice, and so well done. They have a number of specialty drinks for summer. I really enjoyed the Sangria.
I had the smoked brisket sandwich, and my husband had the smoked wings. We both agreed that they were the best that we'd ever had.
The service was excellent! Our server was friendly and attentive.
We can't wait to go back and enjoy it again on a nicer day!

Sunday afternoon, young waitstaff. Food was terrible. We had 2 different burgers, wings, and ribs. All were apparently microwaved, dry and steaming hot. highlight was the order of cheesecurds. Service was sub-par, business was slow overall. The bill was well above average, especially for what was experienced, 97 dollars for 4 people. For a "newly remodeled, local spot", it did not come close to meeting what could be offered on long lake.

The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. We got there as the kitchen was closing 8:00 on a Friday so that may have played a role in our food. Salad was good, interesting. Two suggestions add honey butter for the corn bread, it was tasty although a little dry and provide toothpicks, the smoked brisket was absolutely delicious but tends to get stuck between the teeth.
