My favorite spot for a sandwich! Try the Sunn Slayer for a delicious vegetarian nosh - it's my fave. Celiac Spouse loves the Club, on GF bread, untoasted (so it doesn't touch the shared panini press). Get a seasonal fruit bar (gluten free!) to round out your meal, and try an Arnold Palmer in the summer (made with local tea from the tea shop down the street). If ordering takeout for lunch, place your order by 11 and pickup before noon - this spot gets busy!

Made a trip to Mt. Horeb for a short visit this morning. Was looking for a breakfast/brunch place and found Sunn Cafe and decided to try it out.

Things I liked:
a) Staff members were very friendly and accommodating.
b) Gluten free bread for sandwiches and toast.
c) Unsweetened iced tea (strawberry/peach flavor was very good!)
d) LGBTQ+ friendly
e) Lots of seating options inside and out
f) Comfortable and roomy environment
g) Food was tasty. All items were enjoyable. We had the Avocado Toast (GF bread), Breakfast Sandwich (GF bread), Grilled Cheese with side of Broccoli Cheddar Soup.

Suggestions for improvement:
a) Took quite awhile for our food to come out.
b) Recommend including sides with breakfast items (fruit or greens).

Would definitely come here again. Did not try the coffee drinks.

I went in for lunch with my pastor, and everything about it was easy, warm, and just what I didn’t know I needed. I had the spinach salad with fresh strawberries, goat cheese, almonds, and microgreens (total flavor bomb), and she had the toasted turkey sandwich — that thing smelled amazing and looked even better.

Service? Friendly and fast, but not rushed. The kind of place where you feel like they actually want you to be there.

We got sandwiches and a salad: "Sunn Slayer, The Bomb, and the lime-cilantro quinoa salad. I am vegan and my friend is not. We both felt very satisfied with the options. The ingredients were extremely fresh, flavors were well balanced and bold, and the toasted bread was next level.

Service was friendly by all and the atmosphere is clean, spacious, with lovely decor that honors the historic building. Music was on but atmospheric and pleasant, complimenting the overall experience.

I would definitely come back to try more of their menu. The prices were fair for the high quality. 10-13.50 per plate.

My job has me on the road, so I see plenty mediocre food. I had the Italian sandwich (not the correct name) it was a flavor EXPLOSION! The meat with the pickled onion, pepericini,.... bread toasted to perfection. I've been a regular here for 6 years and counting! Not once have I had a meal that was anything other than delicious. Fresh, local ingredients. Their specials are off the charts. Everything has that farm-to-table intention and taste. The atmosphere feels very rustic, organic and bright. They really go the extra mile with picking fresh flowers for each table. Lovely independently owned coffee shop and restaurant! They specialize in healthier but delicious, sustainable food options. My husband is addicted to their breakfast sandwiches. They have fantastic baked treats daily. Most, if not all, are gluten-free, which is clearly fantastic if you have food sensitivities. I don't, but still enjoy them immensely.

There are lots of seating options, including outdoor seating for warmer months.
The staff are very friendly. It's easy to see why this is a favorite for many locals, Duluth Trading company employees, and tourists.

So happy we discovered this wonderful gem! Today was our first time in Mt Horeb and we had lunch here and oh, what’s not to LOVE?? The warm and welcoming atmosphere (such cool old tables and chairs), the super friendly owners and staff who even gave us some great advice about where to go hiking, and the FOOD! We shared two incredible sandwiches, the Bomb and the Skinny Cuban, and they were fantastic, definitely the best sandwiches we’ve had in a very long time, with such a great combination of flavors and very nice bread and everything so fresh. The coffee - and decaf for me :] - were also excellent… our only regret was that we were too full to try any of the amazing looking baked goods! Thanks so much, and we’ll be back soon and often!

I ordered the “Beast” sandwich with a side of Potato Salad Togo. It was ready when I got there and very friendly staff! I got home to divulge in this deliciousness and it went way beyond my expectations for a roast beef sandwich!!! It has so much flavor, not to much of one over the other in each bite but you get a taste of everything, every bite. Perfectly executed!! And the potato salad, yum!! I’m not a fan of bacon and there is bacon in this potato salad but it makes it. It’s the perfect amount, not over powering, and can still get the potato salad flavor I’m looking for. The seasonal beet hummus wrap was fairly yummy but could have benefited from a spattering of herbs to compliment the feta & hummus. Perhaps a bit more garlic/tahini in the hummus. Super fun cafe right in downtown Mt Horeb. It was a beautiful day so some folks were eating outside, though we sat in the spacious, comfortable dining room. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. Friend got sesame noodles from the deli case and a soup of the day, which was a peanut stew that was vegan & gluten free and delicious. I got chef's salad that had a perfect hard-boiled egg, deli meats, a gentle sprinkling of cheese, quality bacon and such over greens. The bleu cheese dressing was chunky and delightful. Can't wait to visit again. All the customers seemed thrilled to be there, and when we had stopped in earlier at the chamber of commerce, it turns out the lunches they were talking about getting were from Sunn Cafe! One of them loves the Skinny Cuban sandwich and never gets anything else, she said.

Make this a required stop in Mt Horeb — especially if you are biking the Military Ridge Trail. It’s a block off the trail and the sandwiches are unique and healthy fuel. It was my first business trip to Mr. Horeb and the wonderful folks at Duluth Trading recommended Sunn Cafe. I was not disappointed!

It was only a few minutes before closing time and I expected to be turned away, but the very friendly staff welcomed me to enjoy a late lunch. I ordered the tomato soup and "The Bomb" sandwich. Both were excellent!

The soup was very good, but the in-store made fresh croutons made this simple dish a must-have. The croutons were fresh, had a soft crunch and added a certain savoriness to the soup. Really delicious. "The Bomb" was equally as good. Ingredients were fresh, as one would desire, and the 9-grain toasted bread in combination with a dash of jalopeno's was one of the best I've had in a long time.

I hope to visit Mr. Horeb again soon. Will definitely make another stop at Sunn Cafe!! Thank you again for your kindness!

I only wish they were open for breakfast and dinner. Considering how much I love their creations, I can only imagine what they could do with an expanded menu. Maybe someday.

Until then I'll happily remind myself every day to get my order in before the special runs out!

Big city tastes/flavors in that small town feel!

If you haven’t had a chance to stop into Sunn Cafe than you are missing out. Their flavor profiles and food are heads above anything being served in this area and could go head to head with any lunch time eatery in Madison. Their attention to detail and complex flavor combinations make each option a fun trip to flavor land. As one always looking for that perfect bite....Sunn never comes up short. With new specials daily, Sunn provides you with options from the comfort foods on up to the light fair with salads. Their cafe setting takes you to that small town feel where you know that care and comfort abound when the preparation of your food. I avidly follow them on social media waiting for the “new” special of the day. Keep up the good work Sunn Cafe!

Fantastic fresh food. Deli containers full of the salads they offer plus a larger salad with greens offered today. The soup tomato looked absolutely delicious. I love that they offer vegan dishes especially in an area where cheese is what wisconsin is about!. The sesame noodles are very flavorful and fresh. The quinoa salad is very tasty as well. In town off the main street. Go past the immediate picks off the highway and don't miss this little gem. Prices are very reasonable.

The first time that I ate here was very disappointed with the wait staff. Today was a different story. We are outside on a picnic table during to COVID the staff was very accommodating and our sandwiches were delicious.

If I had to chose my last meal on Earth there is a 99% chance it would be the Vegas from Sunn Cafe. I have to limit myself from going to Sunn Cafe because I would choose to go everyday if I could. Delicious food, great ingredients, and a super cute environment. I love to sit in the window and watch Main Street.

I love this place! It's quite possibly my favorite restaurant in my home town. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they were exclusively takeout. The day I ordered, they were having some technical difficulties with their online ordering system (where I work, we have a similar system, so I completely understand) I had to wait a little longer for my food, but they gave me a complimentary cookie to make up for it. It was so kind of them, and the food will always be worth the wait! Tusen takk Sunn Café!

Pretty good sandwiches, creative sides, and lots of choices for Barley Pop that aren’t Bud/Mil. Not cheap, but likely one of your only options for vegan/GF etc. Cool interior (when it is available for use again.) In the meantime, call in an order.
