We ate here tonight. Beautiful view of the lake and great service. Hubby had bacon cheeseburger and fries and I had a cheeseburger with Swiss cheese and coleslaw. We also ordered a side of cheese curds which was plentiful for an appetizer. We also both had a Coke. Bill was less than $40 without tip. Cheapest meal we had all week and honestly was one of the best. Highly recommend and wish we stopped here earlier in the week because we might have stopped more often during our week stay.

My husband, daughter and I stopped in here on our way up to Gillis Rock. We had never eaten here before and thought we would try it. We are so happy that we did. The service was perfect (the owner was also our waiter and was very friendly and on spot with drink refills, special orders, etc). We each ordered a different meal and each of our meals was fresh and delicious. The spinach dip with small warm round bread slices was homemade and both were cooked to perfection. The chips are not hard and burnt like a lot of other places. No complaints from any of us, everything was great. We will definitely be back whenever we visit Door County, and definitely will recommend this restaurant to friends and family as well!

Do not waste your time or money. Quite possibly the worst restaurant in Door County. Filthy menus crusted in food. I had to send back a meal and was told that “everyone else is eating it so I’m the problem, not the food,” by the male server. Multiple people at the table tried the dish and deemed it inedible. Very poor service, terrible food for the value.

THE best breakfast we have had in Door County! We have been to DC a handful of times over the past 4 years and this was our first time at Sunset Harbor Restaurant. The bacon was top notch, hash browns a perfect golden brown, and amazing eggs made to perfection. My husband had the pancakes and says they were “damn good”, which says a lot! Definitely a hidden gem in plain sight. We will be back.

An interesting dining experience. Food was plated very nicely, while silverware is handed out wrapped in a papernapkin and napkin ring. The servers have black collared shirts but also sportshorts and basketball tennies. You are greeted on entry by a hostess and then promptly encouraged to seat yourselves. The place seems trapped somewhere between fine dining and bar & grill.

The service was very friendly and very quick, which would be expected when you are sitting 5 feet away from the host station.

The food was delicious, well prepared, and came out very quickly. My wife had chicken Alfredo, and I had the "Cajun" shrimp alfredo. I put Cajun in quotes because it slightly missed the mark. A small trace of red onion was the only hint at any part of the holy trinity touching this recipe, and a few thin sliced Andoulli suasages were their to help pay lipservice to "Cajun" cuisine. Some old bay seasoning or even just a touch of celery salt and a dash of crystal hotsauce could have gone a long way to spice up the dish, but as it was, it was a mildly seasoned creamy shrimp alfredo. This is probably nit-picky, but it was a $30 plate of pasta after all.

My biggest issue was honestly the price. $30 for pasta just seems exorbitant. What my wife and I received were very delicious, $15 plates of pasta from a $15 a plate level dining experience, and no clue where the extra $20 upcharge was coming from. I am not saying anything was bad, it just wasn't up to the standard it's priced at. The bones are there for this place to be a very nice upscale dining experience worth $30 a plate, but Im not sure it wants to be. It is, after all, a "Grill".

Wow! Amazing little restaurant located upstairs. The atmosphere was welcoming and you can tell it's family owened. The employees seemed to know their local customers. The food was great! We had american breakfast and stuffted french toast. The Mimosas lasted my whole meal! Great portions. We will definitely be stopping here again when we come through.

This was a decent little restaurant above a hotel lobby. It was very hot in there at my time of visit. Not sure why ceiling fans & windows weren't opened earlier, since even the "owner?" was even saying it was hot in there and finally opened the windows and turned on the fans.?

Host/server was a young kid, and he was polite & attentive. Prices seemed high, but expected for the area it seems. Food was decent, but for around $20/person, hoped for better. Portions for the meal I had, were very small. It was presented nicely, but again, small. For the chicken breast (1/2), the chicken breast was about the size of a hamburger patty from a mcds cheeseburger. It came with veggies & mashed potatoes, but again, small portions in my opinion. Potatoes looked like it was a childs portion, not the amount one would expect. Veggies were merely squash/zucchini pieces, so not the selection of veggies I was thinking of either.

We were a group of four and dined last evening at the Sunset Grill. The food and ambience were satisfactory, nothing special. The server, a young man, was pleasant and attentive. The reason for the two star rating of service came near the end of the meal because of the action and attitude of the man in charge of the restaurant while we were there. I’m not sure if he is the owner. We paid for our meal and one person in our group was still finishing his meal. The man tried to take his plate and when my dinner companion said he was still finishing his meal, the man said rudely the restaurant was closed and no one else was there. We were seated at 7:15 and it was now 8:15. Yes, the restaurant closed at 8 pm and we were the last diners there, but we had not been at the table an unusually long time and it was clear he was finishing his food. It was not a pleasant conclusion to a dining experience. I would not return.

This place gets overshadowed a bit by Wilson’s and the Old Post Office. It’s less busy when you need a quick bite, and it has many good options. I liked my lake perch basket except that I could have used at least a couple more pieces for that price. You can get a nice view of the bay; too bad the windows in that seating area don’t open! I’d give this a 4.5 if I could.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and we were greeted right away by one of the staff members. Very friendly. Sat us right at a table looking out to the lake. Service was excellent. We ordered the calamari, which was so delicious. I ordered the Cajun shrimp pasta, again, so delicious. The moscato they serve there was the best. My boyfriend ordered the Rueben sandwich, he said it tasted really good too. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is staying in door county. 👍👍👍

We were excited to try this restaurant based on reviews, unfortunately we were not impressed. First, the positives, our server did a decent job, the French fries were good, my wife enjoyed her moscato, and I enjoyed my New Glarus Oktoberfest. Sadly, that’s it. Our table was covered in a layer of dust, the Cole slaw was extremely bland. We each ordered the perch dinner and it was terrible!!! The pieces were extraordinarily small, the breading looked very pale and thin, and the Fish had a peculiar taste. We are not picky by any means, but this is the WORST fish we’ve ever tried😢

If you're a picky eater, or don't want to pay top price for something you can get at Ihop. I suggest looking elsewhere. Even if everything else is closed because you got there late. It is on 2nd floor of Ephraim Shores Resort. The young couple who run this restaurant are hard working ,friendly, accommodating ...they get what service and quality mean.
The food is outstanding, people come from all around area to eat here.

My partner & I just finished a wonderful meal here. We both ordered the Cajun shrimp pasta and loved it. The Alfredo sauce was delicious and not too heavy to cover up the taste of the shrimp & andouille sausage. It was spiced just right. The serving size was more than enough for us. We each had a salad, as well. The lettuce & veggies were crisp and fresh on the house salad. The dressing on the Caesar salad was slightly salty, however still quite tasty. The staff was friendly and very attentive. We had a great table overlooking the harbor - very beautiful! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I am not usually one to write a bad review, but I was sorely disappointed. “Grilled salmon” on the menu wasn’t actually grilled, and it was mushy in the middle. Everything was cooked on a flattop griddle. Most likely one flattop griddle. I ordered the ribeye medium rare, but was cut so thin the best they could do was medium well. The mushrooms and onions and vegetables had no flavor. The servers were nice, but the hostess was busy on her phone as we left and couldn’t be bothered to say goodbye. Definitely won’t be back.

Google reviews, you let me down. At the time of writing this, the average review rating for this restaurant is 4.9. We came here for the water and sunset views and good ratings on our first visit to Door County. Here's what was good: the service, prompt and attentive, and the view - 2nd level directly onto the water. Also, the drink selection, particularly the beer choice, was nice. What wasn't good: the food. Two of us ordered the whitefish and found it blandly flavored. Our kids (tween and teen who are adventurous eaters) got the chicken dish and the ribs, pronounced "just ok" and "not good." I try not to write negative reviews - it is hard enough for a business to make it work these days. However, I knew I was about to spend $150 + on an average to mediocre dinner - I would have eaten elsewhere.

So happy to literally stumble upon this place as we were walking some where else. The dining room has amazing views of the water. This was by far the best cherry summer salad I ever ate! My husband loved the cheese curds and the pickles that came on the side with his burger were amazing. I had the black n blue burger on a really good roll with homemade chips. Our first dinner - we had a grilled white fish with mash potato, stir fry zucchini was perfectly done with Italian wedding soup which is very delicious.
We came back for breakfast the following day and came back for dinner for the same day. I had a Caesar Salad with grilled Salmon topping that melts in your mouth and a yummy clam chowder soup.
Wish we stayed longer in the area to be able to try more of their specialty prepared and listed in their menu.
This restaurant is owned and operated by a very hard working nice couple who greeted you warmly when you enter the restaurant and the service is very nice. The place is located in the upper floor of the building with fantastic and gorgeous sunset view! We absolutely recommend this restaurant!
