Wow what a fun place. Went there and had heard good things, but it was out of this world. What a great crowd everyone was friendly, service was top notch, drinks were great, and food was excellent. We had the deep fried perch last night. Fabulous! Linda, our server, was attentive and very friendly; I'll ask to be in her section when we dine there next time. The fish was perfectly cooked, we chose fries for the side and they arrived hot and tasty. The fish fry includes a tasty coleslaw and (of course) rye bread. The outdoor seating have us a beautiful view of Little Sturgeon Bay and the sunset. The entire staff did a great job, despite the chronic staffing shortages all restaurants in Door County are experiencing. Highly recommended.

This is an oasis hidden off the beaten path. The new owners are very friendly and accommodating. The cheese curds, amaretto seven drinks and pulled pork sandwich are excellent!!! The view of the pristine lake from inside is incredible!! We even saw pelicans!! Highly recommend!!!

What a polite and engaging staff and owner. We are not locals so they helped us with some of the history of the area. They went Beyond making us feel welcome. Stopped in on Friday for dinner will never be back. We were told no masks no service, there is an obnoxious amount of plexi glass around the bar but we thought hey we will still give it a try. It’s ok to be cautious. We sat at the bar we received our drinks after 10 mins and waited another 16 minutes to order dinner and no one took our order. We then decided to leave. The owner is very rude and doesn’t care about anyone but himself. Prices for dinner were high too.

The views are undoubtedly spectacular. The fish fry was great, but pricey. The clam chowder was too ‘dilly’ for my taste. But Wow! was the service just horrendous, even off-putting. The waitress didn’t ask how the food was after delivery, didn’t offer water or ask if we needed a second drink. We had to have the unpleasant bartender find her in back to get the check. We asked if one of the TV could change to the golf tournament twice. Now idk if they didn’t have the channel, but the request was ignored without explanation. In a room adjacent to our seats in the bar, an elderly couple came to eat. An employee started to vacuum around them while they were eating! Lots of places with good food and great views in the area. Service makes all the difference.

A local Wisconsin bar (the best kind of bar) and restaurant. Right on the water, with view of sunset as name implies. Solid drinks at bar, and excellent place for Friday Fish. Sassy and efficient service. Even video games in the front to keep the kids from distracting you from finishing your brandy old fashioned.

The food was just ok. Nothing spectacular. I had fried shrimp and my boyfriend had a perch and Walleye special. I thought the prices were high for the quality of food. Service was a bit slow. My shrimp dinner came out without my potato, and I didn’t get it until I was done eating my shrimp. They did take off $2.00 for that. Probably would not go back.

I have been a bartender/waitress at Sunset Grill for 24 years. I am reading the reviews and cannot believe how we can go from the best meal ever to the worst dining experience ever. Wow. I know that in my 24 years I have had less than a handful of complaints. When I do get a complaint I address it and do what I can to make the customer happy. I know you can NEVER please everyone but I also know that I will do what I can to make your experience a wonderful one. The food is THE BEST. Lynn takes so much pride in her kitchen and her food. There were 3 adults and one baby looking for a good steak. The server never mentioned the specials, the drinks were mediocre, atmosphere very old school and the place empty except for the two leaving. We should have taken a hint. We ordered two filet mignon with broasted potatoes and one rib eye with a baked potato. Server was clue-less and hard to find. Steaks came while we were still eating our salads. Steaks were all undercooked and broasted potatoes bland (no seasoning). Sent them back & they returned more done after microwaving. The salads and baked potato were typical and okay. A disappointing meal for $108. We won't be back

While the prices are a bit outrageous, what do you expect from a smaller restaurant next to a boat launch with a fabulous sunset view. We had the undecided appetizer which was pretty excellent and burgers. Boyfriend had the prime rib sanwhich and seasoned fries which was out of this world. If you're heading in after a day of boating - definitely worth it. Local fish talk is welcome and even reality! Worth a visit or three!

I can not speak for the dining experience, but BOAT LAUNCHERS BEWARE! If your watercraft is less than 10ft, you may be able to avoid the imminent collision with the rock lined sides of the channel. Even the most skillful navigators will find turning any size boat around to be a monumental feat. If that's not enough, the pitch of the landing ramp is such that you are quite likely to face serious issues when attempting to winch your boat onto the trailer because the nose will be lower than the level of the winch. Lastly, do not expect to be greeted by a smiling staff. The proprietor of the launch has one goal which is to exploit you for every last dime you own. It was my displeasure to speak with him, and I can GUARANTEE that I will not let on more penny find its way from my hands to this poorly run establishment. By all means, I will AVOID this place and pay the same overpriced landing fee to go to a real marina such as Wave Pointe a few miles farther. Your prop, trailer, and patience will thank you. You have been warned!

My experience at Sunset Bar and Grill was hands down the worst dinning experience I've ever had. Best way to put it, tourist trap. The view was nice, however we waited for over an hour and a half for our food. Our waitress never asked us for refills and we had to go to the bar every time we wanted one. I ordered the perch, basically 'glorified fish sticks', the perch still had skin and scales on it. I received 4 pieces of perch for 15 dollars (that's the cheap one). My waitress told me after the meal that they would have doubled my size order for 4 dollars more. I ordered a side of German Potato Salad which came out after my food. Not only was it scalding hot but it was literally just potatoes covered in apple sauce. My girl friend ordered the baked cod which was just two tiny breaded pieces. At the end of the night for some crappy fish and a couple beers my bill was over $50. Not only is it almost impossible to find with the road signs it was the worst dinning experience I've ever encountered in Door County.
