Sat at the counter and immediately greeted. I get the same thing every time, steak and eggs. Pretty expensive but blame the economy lol it was good. I had an incredibly frustrating experience at Sweet Diner. We had a party of 11 with a reservation, and 10 of us arrived on time. One member was running 15 minutes late, but instead of seating us at the clearly empty table reserved for our group, the staff made us wait in the crowded lobby. The table sat vacant the entire time as we stood around, hungry and annoyed.

The host was rigid and unaccommodating, citing a strict policy about seating incomplete parties, but offered no empathy or solution. It felt like we were being punished for something beyond our control. When our final member arrived, we were finally seated, but the whole ordeal left a sour taste before we even saw a menu.

This lack of flexibility and poor customer service completely overshadowed the meal. I won’t be returning, and I’d caution large groups to avoid this place unless you’re guaranteed to arrive in perfect sync. There are plenty of other restaurants that value their customers’ time and experience more than Sweet Diner does.

This is a long overdue review. After having take out from this restaurant many times, I decided to come in with my service animal. I was seated and told that him being there was no issue, however, after being seated I was stared at by at least 6 employees conglomerated together as well as the person I learned to be the manager. After about 15 minutes of receiving rude stares, the manager asked me to leave the restaurant. I tried to show my service animal’s documentation and was refused. It’s completely inappropriate for staff to be crowding and staring at a disabled person. The manager didn’t seem to care at all that we had been happily sat by the sweet host, but instead ruined what we expected to be a new favorite spot.

The people in the front and what looked like a manager were so mean! So a member of our party got there before us and said there would be 8 people. They told her to wait for the whole party first. Ok great. We arrived as the other half of the party and went up to get seated as directed by the host. We line up (all 7 of us as 1 person did not come as expected) we say ok we are all here. The rude host said you need to wait until they are all here. We point to us 7 people and say they are here. He says 8? There is 7. We say, no it’s 7. He repeats you all have to be up here. We repeat. We are, it’s 7 not 8, someone didn’t make it. Then the manager guy comes over and says MAAM YOU ALL NEED TO BE HERE. We are all looking at eachother like, are we in bizzaro world? The manager says for 5? NO 7 We are a party of 7. We are here there are 7 of us. They may even have said we all need to be there to be seated one more time, but I was too busy disassociating myself to believe what was happening. So the manager guy mumbles something and walks away. We begin to follow him thinking he was seating us and he literally yelled MAAM I SAID WAIT HERE. We all looked like a deer in headlights at this point because HUH??? And the food was over priced and mediocre. Server was nice. Service was slow. You get to start your time trying to get the QR code working so you can all sit in silence and figure out how to look at the menu. Real great experience for the tech savvy elderly. Nightmare parking, nightmare experience. There are 100s of better brunch places in Milwaukee and surrounding areas. I highly recommend Mad Rooster. Their food definitely was nothing special at all for what you have to endure. It’s like cattle herding and the interior is cold and industrial feeling. Someone recommended this place and I have no clue why.

It took us a while to get seated as our party of 4 was in 2 cars and they don’t seat you unless everyone is at the restaurant when your table is ready. The food was fresh and delicious. I especially liked the creme brûlée French toast. Nelly our server was awesome. Meagan the seating lady could have been a bit more understanding of our logistical difficulties. We don’t live in the area so coordinating our precise arrival time was challenging.

Meh, thats all I got. I thought the space was absolutely beautiful and everything on the menu sounded so freaking delicious I couldn't decide what to get. I was traveling through and I knew I wanted to get my hands on some Wisconsin cheese so I picked the most obvious choice.. the grilled cheese sandwich. I was picturing something that would have an insta worthy cheese pull and ended up with... wait, lets us what I learned in therapy.. "What I feel like" was a heat lamp slice of mid grade cheese and bread so greasy my fingers needed a bath afterwards. Was the sandwich good? not at all. Was it bad? not exactly.

Well worth my walk! The hotel suggested going here and I walked over 20 minutes and so glad I did.

Service - Holly and Fabricio were absolutely awesome! From the moment I sat down I was greeted with a friendly smile and warm hello. The food was out so quick I barely had time to look around 😁.

Food - Excellent! I ordered the Classic Benedict and it was very good. See video and pic. Tastes just like it looks!

Atmosphere - Very upscale, spacious, comfortable, clean environment.

Suggestions from the team on where to go were spot on. I walked a nice walk along the water. Started at the lighthouse and all the way to the Art Museum. Beautiful walk.

My daughter and I love this place. It’s 1/2 a block from our condo. We always sit at the bar because it’s cool to watch the action. The crème brûlée French toast is the first thing we ever ordered from here and that’s what we get every time. It’s so good! A shout out to the expo Marcelino for delivering our food to us after several failed attempts asking a few servers standing/leaning by the wall who ignored his requests. The team work was definitely not up to the normal standards today. We have had amazing service in the past and today was still good just kinda weird to see the lack of help for hands to run food and drinks. Our server was busy and she did a great job. I highly recommend the crème brûlée French toast. It’s truly magic.

Awesome breakfast spot in the Third Ward. The food was satisfying, delicious and comforting. The service was outstanding. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Chicken and Waffles was full of flavor. Heavy waitress on the front was loud and obnoxious, food was super bland and scrambled eggs werent cooked all the way. Kitchen staff were leaving the kitchen with their gloves on and went outside and came back in and did not wash their hands or put new gloves on. Really good food overshadowed by not great experience. Went with a friend to celebrate her birthday. Had 3/4ths of my food and cocktail left and was told by our waitress that they needed our table. Paid the bill and waitress took my plate with my food still on it. If there is a time limit it would be helpful to tell customer that at the beginning so they can plan their time accordingly.

Not Worth the Hype

Came here on a Friday morning. I was dining alone, so I accepted the seat they offered me at the bar. I sat for five minutes with no acknowledgment, and I only kept track of the time because from where I was sitting—right across from the service area—I could clearly see multiple servers just hanging out and chatting. Honestly, it stung a bit, especially because I was hungry.

Eventually, a guy came over and took my order, but he didn’t make eye contact or seem particularly interested. Then, instead of grabbing my drink—the drink station is just 12 feet away—he spent another five minutes walking back and forth between his coworkers, showing things on his phone, laughing, and having a great time. Meanwhile, I’m just sitting there, still waiting.

I finally got my drink. The food came quickly after that and was decent enough. But overall, this place just isn’t worth the hype. I think people like it because it’s in a trendy neighborhood and looks cool, but honestly? You’d probably have a better experience at a divey diner: better service, food just as good, and way cheaper.

P.S. I don’t usually leave negative reviews for one-off bad service, but this felt systemic. It’s clear this place is poorly managed, and what I experienced likely isn’t the exception.

I have to say I’ve been there a few times and was satisfied..My job meetings are held there and we’ve never had complaints..Today though the atmosphere was way off workers huddled together in corners literally just staring quite uncomfortably. I personally had no complaints with our waiter or my food. My coworker was unhappy and sent her food back she had a skillet and it just seemed old. Once she sent her plate back the workers really started staring and snickering just plain weird and rude. No one should ever experience being made to feel uncomfortable in an establishment where money is being spent and just overall as human beings. I had planned to do brunch there for my birthday but this last experience has swayed me to go elsewhere

A Sweet Spot in Milwaukee!
I had such a wonderful experience at Sweet Diner with my family. The atmosphere is stylish yet cozy, perfect for a relaxing brunch. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. I tried the briar grilled cheese sandwich(so so good), French toast (one of the best I’ve had if not the best), my son had a burger with fries. My husband had some omelette and French toast. I also tried the nut crepe (not my favorite but was okay). We also tried their signature drink. everything was fresh and full of flavor. It’s definitely a great spot for families, and we’ll be coming back for sure. Highly recommend!

I was in town for less than 24 hours, staying at the Limitation Kimpton just up the street. I needed a quick bite, late lunch. I ordered a juice, waffle, and side of bacon to go. The gentleman ahead of me placed a rather large order, also to go. I sat at the bar and watched my order come out well ahead of his but it sat on the shelf while everything for his order was slowly assembled. Meanwhile my waffle got cold, congealed, and my bacon cooled. They didn’t bag my food until he had his order. My food sat on the to go shelf for easily 15 min. As the sister of a chef, I know that this is not best practice. Don’t fire it if you’re not going to serve it immediately. Manage your time, your kitchen, your staff. Be better.

My wife and I visited on Father’s Day on a trip back home to Milwaukee. We got there mid morning, maybe around 11 or so on Sunday. The place was hustling and moving. It’s clear that they’ve got this down to a science and everybody knows what to do and how to do it. A lot of purposeful movement.This was terrific as it really moved folks through and opened up seating fairly quickly. Who would’ve posted pictures of the menu but they had us use our phones to pull it up and I didn’t think to take a screenshot. I really appreciate a paper menu in my hand and don’t really like to do it on the phone, but it is what it is. I had some kind of a chorizo bowl with little tortilla chips on top. It came with salsa Verde and was delicious if you like a savory breakfast. My wife got blueberry pancakes that have blueberries cooked in them and also blueberries on them. She got a side of the bacon, which was the most perfectly cookedthick cut bacon that I’ve ever had. It was very tender and absolutely delicious. As were the pancakes. I would absolutely go back again.

Took my son out with my daughters for his birthday. Waited to be greeted about 10 min from our server….offered grace because it busy. When our server came, there was no introduction, no apology and she took our drink and food order at the same time (which we were ok with since we had been waiting a while anyways). Our drinks didn’t come until 20 minutes later-no, I’m NOT exaggerating-one latte, orange juice, chocolate milk, and two iced chai lattes….latte was barely warm, the ice cubes in the chai had completely melted and were obviously dying in the well for a bit. While we were waiting, our server kept dropping off waters amd additional drinks to the other tables surrounding us…our waters never came until I went up to the counter and asked for them. My daughter’s food order was wrong as was my son’s. Just terrible service. The cherry on top though was the sheer lack of ANY sense of urgency when a guest at the table next to us had an urgent medical episode and there was no one there helping from staff whatsoever-I stepped in to help immediately after seeing there was an issue to be addressed. The guest’s family was even yelling, “please call the paramedics!” and after the second time, I called 911 myself. The family of said guests were left to try to scramble to pay their bill whilst trying to be with their family member in need (a full comp would’ve been warranted for them don’t you think?). No manager presence-nothing. I was extremely frustrated I can only imagine how that lady and her family felt. I hope she is ok…

Casual restaurant with an upscale feel.
We had the berry feast crepe, veggie omelette with breakfast potatoes, and French toast. Everything looked and tasted great, in the potatoes which were perfectly seasoned.
Our waiter attended to us immediately and food preparation was faster than most restaurants.
Located in a densely populated area, there isn’t a dedicated parking lot, but there is a large parking structure next door.
Bathrooms are large, clean, and modernly styled.
The only negative I noticed is the main dining area is louder than louder most placed, as all sounds seem to carry. We sat in a separate room which was much quieter despite having many other diners.

The only reason for the low service stars was because of our server, Nelly P. She was great until I questioned if my pancakes were, in fact, gluten-free. Throughout breakfast this morning, my stomach started to hurt. I then got Nelly's attention and asked if my pancakes were GF. She paused in shock with her mouth open and said, "You didn't say you wanted GF." Mind you, before my friend and I ordered, I asked if they had GF pancakes, and she said yes. I got excited! Moments later, I order the skillet and GF pancakes. She said, "What kind of pancakes?" I said GF. She said, "No, we have lots of pancakes then proceeded to list the options. I said buttermilk, GF." Anyway, halfway through breakfast, after questioning the pancakes, she said I thought you were ordering for her (my friend). Now she's making excuses and not owning up to her mistake. This could've been a really bad situation. While in the bathroom, my friend asked for the bill, and she brought us the wrong one. She must've been having an off morning. The restaurant is great! I just wanted some accountability on the servers error. Be careful if you have an allergy or preference. I always look for the toothpick for verification. I guess this morning I was too excited to eat. The food looked great.

Okay, here’s a brunch review with a shout-out to Bianca:

Just had the most amazing brunch at Sweet diner, The atmosphere was perfect—chill vibes and great music. I ordered the crème brule french toast, and it was seriously delicious. But honestly, the best part of the experience was our server, Bianca. She was super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Bianca’s awesome service really made our brunch extra special. Highly recommend this place—and if you go, ask for Bianca!

Today I went out to eat with my freind , the whole time we were there everyone was rude . We were being racially profiled the whole time , and it felt as if we were being rushed . The food we received was not warm and Our server did not check on us after receiving the food . When it came time to leave she didn’t even bother handing us a check we had another worker give us our check even when he came to give us our check he was rude to us . I was over charged and when I said something about my check being wrong he got an attitude I still paid it but I just will never be coming back here with us being racially profiled . When it came time to us leaving everyone watched us leave and the server who was being rude the whole time came to us asking if we paid , I feel as if this was very rude and as someone working it should of been communicated we paid instead everyone looked at us not being able to leave in peace . I will not come back to this establishment again due to my experience .

The Bomb!! From walking into the diner to the food. Everything was awesome. The building is beautiful. The brick walls. The lighting and not to mention the food!! Oh my goodness. You have to try the pancakes. This place was delicious. I wanted to go back again but I had to leave town. 😞 This diner is SWEET!!

Sweet Diner is a must for breakfast restaurant while visiting in Milwaukee. Customer service is very fast and friendly. The presentation of each plate is not only pleasent but exquisitely well cooked and taste amazing. The wait you'd experience at most restaurants is not the same here. You are greeted and catered to once you open the glass entrance door.

I came here on a Sunday for brunch and had a 30-minute wait with no reservation, not too bad. I got the Wisconsin omelet with Pork sausage, WI Cheddar breaded cheese curds, onions, and green peppers inside. It comes with a side of breakfast potatoes and a choice of bread, which I got white toast. I got a side of garlic aioli to dip the potatoes in, which was terrific. I saw they had a Southern Eggs Benedict with biscuits and gravy. I was intrigued as a Southern girl. I got a side of the biscuits and gravy and would pass next time. It wasn’t the best sausage gravy, but that’s the southern in me. The omelet was good, though.

Google Search for Highly Rated breakfast Milwaukee brought me to Sweet Diner. Nice atmosphere. Great food and great service. I got 2 eggs over easy, 3 slices of thick bacon and Creme Brulee French Toast with strawberries and blueberries. Amazing! Check out the pics.

Really good breakfast food. The server was efficient And very helpful. My only gripe was that it was very loud due to the fact that it was packed, but then again I guess that makes sense. Anyhow, I would suggest this place to any of my friends 👍

The Sweet Diner serves a great selection of breakfast dishes. It was hard for me to choose just one from the menu, but I took a recommendation from my server and went with the chicken and biscuits with gravy. It was really good, and the portion was very generous. The fried chicken was juicy, tender, and flavorful, served with a creamy corn gravy.

I wish I could rate 0 stars. We walked in and three workers were just talking and didn’t acknowledge or offer to seat us. I had to ask if we just sit wherever, mind you, it was not busy at all. We finally got sat, waited 15 minutes and was never greeted by a server. Meanwhile there’s 5-8 workers just standing around talking behind the counter, again the establishment was NOT BUSY AT ALL. Terrible service. We got up and left. Didn’t get served.

We stopped by on a Sunday and, as expected, it was pretty packed. There are a lot of tables, but they fill up fast. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes to get seated. They do have a Yelp waitlist, which makes things easier since you can track your spot and walk around nearby while you wait. You still need to check in in person before they officially add you to the list.

Even with the rush, the food came out quickly and everything was hot and fresh. We ordered three dishes, and the portions were big, easily enough to feed four. The BLTSMA was decent, nothing that really stood out. The smoked salmon benny and the birria skillet, though, were both great.

Overall, it’s a solid brunch spot with good food, generous portions, and efficient service. Just plan ahead if you’re going on the weekend, as it gets busy fast.

Place was cute , server was very attentive. I prefer thinner bacon kinda felt like I was eating pork rinds. Also wished the chocolate chips were distributed a Little better in my pancake. 80% of all the chocolate was in the top pancake and the bottom two were just lackluster. Might give them another try.

Very busy. Our wait time was not horrible.
Bianca was our server, and we had no issues with her at all, hence the 5 stars for her.

The person who got the Southern Benedict thought the biscuits were good. They had no complaints about their meal. They had some kind of kale smoothie that some ice on the side would be nice to have had.

The person with the meat lovers skillet (it came in some kind of plastic bowl) said it was okay. The eggs were nicely done.

I helped them finish their skillet and what I seemed to notice is that it was like all the elements were speratly cooked before hand (except for the eggs) and then were mixed when the order came in, had the eggs cooked and dropped on top.
The flavors did not marry very well, if at all. Maybe I'm wrong, but the cheddar cheese would have melted differently if everything had been cooked together.

Now for the rueben. It's a pretty simple sandwich to make but pretty easy to mess up. Mine was not great, but not the worst I've ever had.

The corned beef was extremely tough to the point of chewy. Was it old and being used up or just cut wrong if they cook it in-house? If cooked in house? I know it was not some purchased lunch meat like I've gotten at some other places.

The saurekraut was fine, not wet, which is good, but it was sort of blah. It should have a little kick to it.
The swiss cheese was a little thin. I could have had one more slice of that and the thousand island dressing I think was thin.

Asked for the fries to be crispy, they were not. If the cook saw the request, they made no effort to make them that way.
I either got the remnants of the last batch, or they intentionally made the ones I got as soggy and limp as they dared.
Update on the fries: I just got back from Germany, and these fries they served here were an insult and a disgrace. If you're cooks are not even going to try to serve good fries, don't even offer them.

Well, good work. I don't plan on dropping $80+ here again.

The food was amazing, no complaints there. The server, Michael, humiliated my autistic fiancé by waving his hand in front of my fiancé's face and interrupting me trying to help him order and told him to look at the person who was taking his order, not me. Not only is that extremely rude, but it upset my fiancé to the point of tears. I asked for to-go boxes so we could finish our food later at home when we felt better, and was met with an eye roll. Michael Z, do better. Understand that if someone is helping someone else order, there is usually a reason. People with autism get too frazzled and anxious to order for themselves sometimes. I was just trying to help, and instead you made it worse. Horrible behaviour.

Went for brunch with some girlfriends this morning and Augustine was our server. He was fantastically funny, charming and made us feel very welcomed and like he enjoyed taking care of us. Service was quick even though it was extremely busy, and food was delicious. As a gluten free person, it's tricky to find GF pancakes at a lot of places, and I was thrilled to be able to have some here! Definitely will be returning in the future.

They have vegan options here so were able to accommodate my friend I was dining with. I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. Everything was good (even though my Benedict came out lukewarm and almost cold), but really pricy. Server was nowhere to be seen after we were seated. Somehow ended up paying 60 bux for 2 people. OUCH. Rather loud and busy space, which made being there slightly stressful. One thing I really hated though: no paper menus. I don't have a smartphone and the QR menu thing is the worst. Have menus on the table if you really want to be accessible to everyone.

This is BY FAR the best brunch place I have ever been to hands down. The food is SO good! We sat up at the bar, Jose G took care of us and he was super chill and did an awesome job. It was very very impressive watching the cook staff running their operation, they do such a fantastic job. This will 100% be my go to brunch spot from now on.

We were seated immediately but took 10 minutes to get a drink order placed. Than took 10 minutes to place food order. All while their is at least 10 people standing around. The waitress Marcia G should have stayed home today she has a attitude problem and she doesn't smile. I had to ask for drinks more than once. The price of food is not worth the service. Sweet Diner is an excellent breakfast restaurant located in the heart of Milwaukee’s thriving and upbeat third ward district. Service was surprisingly quick; I was able to get a table and my meal faster than I expected. I definitely recommend the meat lovers skillet, it was an extremely scrumptious delicacy. Sweet diner is now my new favorite breakfast diner in Milwaukee, and if you’re looking for somewhere to eat for a tasty breakfast treat, this is it.

Had about a 20-30 min wait, but they have a nice indoor lobby area with a café to stay warm and have a coffee or pastry before being sat. The freshly squeezed OJ, biscuits and gravy, banana nut muffin and Wisconsin Cheese Curd omelette were all great. Will definitely return.

First thing I noticed when walking in was the atmosphere was disrespectful, the employees seem to have to respect for each other; then my waiter came and took our order after being seated for 20 minutes, he then proceeds to forget two of our drinks, the food was great the service was just awful and then I was rushed out of the building after a hour( 20 mins waiting for our waiter).
