Updated to a Swiss theme, fits in with the Monroe Wi heritage. Very clean ,comfortable seating,a good menu offering a variety. Our breakfast was very tasty, service was very good,she came back several times to pour coffee ,ask if everything was good,and if we needed anything else.I had eggs Benedict that came with rushti potatoes, she had country fried steak ,she said it was good.

I was here visiting friends, they recommended for me to go here. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The coffee was delicious. The price was great for what I got. The atmosphere was that of what one expects from a family restaurant. The only downside and it was just a minor one was that the spinach and feta omelet had huge chunks of feta in it and felt like there was not as much spinach as I would of expected for a spinach and feta omelet. But it was still delicious even with the small complaint. I would highly recommend stopping here if your driving through or visiting.

I had biscuits and gravy / hash browns & coffee.
Biscuits were good and looked golden brown like a hungry jack biscuit. So yes that’s nice. The gravy was (extremely thick) so to me not good. I think gravy should move (gently) & this was very thick. The hash browns were excellent! Crunchy/soft golden brown and yellow and a nice fork full. The coffee was hot silky black and not to strong but bold flavor. I was there 35 minutes and I received 4 cups of coffee. My bill was $16.67 before tip.

Passing through Monroe at lunchtime parking lot had a good amount of cars.

Pros: The server was attentive, with a large menu with the usual diner choices.
Soup was homemade.

Cons:
cup of soup included with sandwich although only one option of soup and no trades or upgrades.

Having passed Swiss Alps many times as we passed through Monroe, we had never stopped… until last weekend. We were both hungry and thought why not, lets give it a try. We’re so glad we did!

They are only open for breakfast and lunch. We walked into this restaurant that has a very small town feel with a Swiss theme. The walls were painted in a Swiss style that my girlfriend said reminded of her time spent in southern Germany. The booths and counter remind me of something from the 60s. The booths could use some maintenance and repairs. The booth we sat at the upholstery was cracked. You could see the foam padding.

We arrived and it did not take long to be greeted and seated. The service here was fantastic. The staff was on top of everything. They were friendly, attentive, but not intrusive. Honestly it was some of the perfect service we have ever had.

As for the food… Well… You have to love a small-town family restaurant. I had the Country Fried steak and Eggs. It was some of the best Country Fried Steak and Eggs I’ve had in a long time, and definitely the best I’ve had in the region. When it was brought to the table, I didn’t have high expectations as the Gravy looked like it was going to be a plain white gravy with little to no flavor. First impressions can be very wrong. It had a great flavor and was delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection. The breading was a crispy, flavorful delight. I had zero complaints. It came with hashbrowns. Normally when I order hashbrowns I ask for them to be fried extra crispy because I feel it adds to the flavor. I forgot to do this, but I didn’t need to. They weren’t as cooked as I prefer, but they had a great flavor that, when mixed with either the eggs or gravy, were absolutely delightful. My girlfriend ordered the eggs and hashbrowns and was impressed by the hashbrowns before I even had a chance to taste them. They were great.

With that being said, remember this is a small-town family restaurant. The food is what you’re going to get at these locations. This is not a Michelin star restaurant; let alone one located in a large city. It’s small-town awesomeness. It’s a slice of Americana. It’s pure nostalgia. You get a good meal, at a decent price. You’re not going to get fancy décor and complicated menus.

If you want a fine breakfast, you won’t be disappointed with Swiss Alps.

The group arranged meal was a disappointment. We were served potato soup and a choice of tuna melt or ham and cheese sandwich. The tuna was oily and had a different dressing, the ham was a thin slice of ham and a thin slice of cheese, both served on toasted white bread. I hope they didn’t pay more than $7 for the meal .

Swiss Alps has been our family go-to restaurant for years. When my mother became disabled they always saved the first booth for her. When she passed, then later when my husband passed the family gathered at Swiss Alps. The owners and staff have always treated guests like family, and the food has always been the best. Starting to wonder if cooks even read tickets. Eggs never come out right. Always over easy when ordered medium well. Breakfast meat is never well done. I sent it back one time because it came out in about 2 minutes. No way could it have been right. The cook said are you kidding me when I returned the food. Had a Sunday brunch at 1.30pm with relatives. Waitress was phenomenal. She recommended delicious breakfast to my out of town relatives and explained where the sausage came from. It was extremely busy as I went to Swiss Alps today to sit & study without the distractions of home. Despite the rush they had no problems with me taking up a table over the course of two mealtimes to sit on my laptop & do my schoolwork. Bernice was terrific striking the perfect balance between not interrupting my studies but still ensuring my needs as her customer were met. Both the breakfast & later the lunch that I ordered had good-sized portions, arrived quickly & the food was tasty. Always a special treat is the hot chocolate with whipped cream!
