We stopped in Whitewater for a late lunch and found that Taco Fresco was one of the few places open. Very happy that it turned out that way because the food and the service were both phenomenal. We had quesadillas and a Mexican bowl and both were delicious. The quesadillas came with a wonderful house made Chipoltle ranch and the bowl was super fresh and included Mexican rice was the best we’ve ever had. The service was amazingly fast and the server was super friendly. We will definitely make our way back there to try some of their other dishes.

Taco Fresco is easily the best food in Whitewater. The tacos are so good they make you mad — like, “Why didn’t I know about this sooner?” mad. The service is great too. They bring your food out so fast it’s like they’re worried you’ll change your mind.

Now, the owner… Look, the food’s amazing, but this guy flirts like it’s his full-time job and the tacos are just a side hustle. I can’t tell if he’s running a restaurant or speed dating me. He’s out here leaning on the counter like a used car salesman, except instead of trying to sell me a Civic, he’s trying to get me to get me in the back.

Still, I keep going back. Partly for the tacos, partly to see how far this man is willing to take it. One day I’m afraid he’s just gonna sit down at my table and feed me himself.

Stopped in for dinner. The restaurant was super busy, but the waiter was very polite and helpful.

Ordered bottomless chips, fries, a bunch of tacos, two vegetarian bowls, and kimchi fries.

The bowls were great (my favorite was the fried avocado bowl), fries were hot and crispy, oddly enough the kimchi fries were probably my favorite, the tacos were pretty good.

All in all, I thought the food and service was spot on. I just give four stars, because I found the tacos a bit pricey for what they were.

But I'd go back for sure.

08-08-2024. We have been pretty loyal customers of this place for quite a few years now. Just placed an order over the phone for pick up and specifically ordered Asian steak tacos WITHOUT CILNONTRO. We drove from milton to whitewater to pick up the order and it was made with cilantro. I re-entered the store and told the gentleman (owner?) behind the counter of the mistake but would not correct it as he made the order per the ticket that the waitress took over the phone and put it in wrong. He said "I can make you a new meal but have to charge you another $25 for it". I explained the mistake and he flat out told me his waitress doesn't make mistakes and there is nothing he could do. My wife tried calling and talking to them and they hung up on her and now won't even answer their phone (childish). I would give you ZERO STARS but it was not a choice as YOUR customer service SUCKS and YOU JUST LOST OUR BUSINESS FOREVER!

This place was an exceptional find! I ordered their spicy tsunami shrimp bowl, and it was seriously amazing! The waitress warned me that it was spicy (a warning I ignored because most Midwesterners think black pepper is spicy), and it truly was--but a very delicious spicy! Every element in the bowl had its own unique high-flavor profile, all of which was delicious enough to eat alone. I will definitely be back to try some of the other specials.

When I walked in, the cook was standing at the order window, so I thought it was an order-at-the-counter type of joint. It's not--it's a full service restaurant, and the waitress was very attentive. It's a pretty tiny restaurant that doesn't look like it fits much more than 20 people inside, but there are a handful of bistro tables outside that extend the space in good weather. The only other thing worth noting is that their sign is only posted on their window--there's no sign above the awning, so it's a little tricky to see initially, but if you keep your eyes on the windows, you'll spot it. It's worth the visit!

I placed an order for delivery with taco fresco and after waiting an hour past the time it was suppose to be delivered I called to check on the status of my order. I was told my order was cancelled because the delivery driver did not want to take the order because I did not leave a tip (I was planning on giving the driver a cash tip at the time of delivery). The worst part of this whole ordeal is the fact that they didn’t even call to say that they were canceling the order so we waited over two hours for the food that was never coming. I’m more than a little disappointed that they did this and even more upset that they were not even a little bit apologetic for what had happened. I guess this will be my last time eating at taco fresco as I do not feel valued as a customer.

Such an easy 5 to give. You will go broke eating here too much, but the portions are really fair. 4 bucks for one taco, but my steak taco had a ton of meat and oh so good. wow just wow the steak taco changed my whole perspective of things, got the fried advocation taco, pretty unusual but pretty decent the salsa stuff on top was good and complimented it greatly, for $5 pretty expensive but still would say it’s worth it. Next up was the Southwest Chicken Quesidila thing, had all sorts of shengangians going on inside and it was properly seasoned and everything but it was super good would definitely get it again. For $11 would say it Carrie’s its value nicely. finally is the steak taco, it looked kind of disappointing at first but upon taking a bite it was amazing just wow. I’m not sure what they put in there but it’s probably comparable to crack. I also had the agua fresco with watermelon and like which was very refreshing not too sweet unlike others. Overall a great function. The chef in the back cooking up everything is a culinary Artist. A modern day Picasso to say the least.

Tacos are still good but lacking in the actual filling the tortilla depatment. About a year ago this place was 10 times better the food came with comp chips and salsa but as of today it was basically cold garbage. Asked for nachos to have extra everything and got chips with lettuce and tomatoes along with barely any meat. No chips and or salsa or any hot sauce with anything that was ordered and wasn't even asked if we wanted any either. On top of that food arrived cold Overall it's basically a taco place for the students in whitewater but aside from that I wouldn't bother with any of it at all. Won't be going back, ordering or recommending them to anyone. Waste of money and time and I'm sure that even if we took it up with management it wouldn't get resolved.

In the area and thought we’d check this place out! Went on a Saturday early evening, no one was in there, the 2 employees were quick to greet us and seated us. Slightly disappointed that we were not told of the specials and the special board was located under the corner, not easily visible from where we were seated. Ordered off the menu, the nachos were amazing! I tried the fried avocado taco, it was good, but definitely needed some seasoning or hot sauce, of which there was none on any of the tables & the fish taco, thus was delicious! It had a mango salsa and lots of flavor! Daughter has the chicken quesadilla, she said hers was just ok. Husband had the steak fajita, his was delicious! Hubby ordered refried beans and was brought a bowl of black beans, which he doesn’t care for. Horchata was EXCELLENT. Overall food was good, but expensive. Everything is served ala carte, there were not sauces offered to us and would have asked but server only checked on us once toward the end of the meal. Server was friendly. Was fun to try once, but we probably won’t go back.

For my money, I think this is the best Austin-style taco place in all of Wisconsin. It blows Bel-Air (Milwaukee) and Tex Tubb's (Madison) out of the water. Taco Fresco makes the best tacos you’ll find in the area and offers the most incredible variety. The Buffalo chicken is amazing and their seafood tacos are a choice you can’t regret. My boss and I order from here every week. The only down side to consider when making a choice for a restaurant is the steep price for the amount of food, especially without inclusion of chips and salsa (their salsa is SO good and we do always order and pay for it but when writing the review, the cost-benefit was the one thing to consider that meant 4 versus 5 stars).

Has something changed in the past month or two with the staff or management? This used to be our favorite restaurant and the past three times we have ordered it has been absolute garbage. The food (which took almost two hours to arrive each time the last three times) was burnt or overcooked, they forgot parts of our order each time, we were overcharged, and everything was either inedible or flavorless. I was excited to come here a second time again after the first experience being quite pleasant. I had an amazing waitress named Shelby and nothing to complain about. After my visit this past week, I do not think I will be coming back. We had a terrible, rude, condescending waitress. I didn’t seem to get her name but she was a young white girl with blonde, kinda short hair. I understand there’s a pandemic, but that is no excuse to just be straight out rude from your tone of voice to facial expressions. She claimed she was “joking” with us, yet she nor anyone in my family laughed at her condescending jokes. If it wasn’t so frowned upon to not leave a tip, I wouldn’t of.
