You used to be greeted by this nice young man, who would talk to you.

Now you get pushed with the suggestive sale? No, listen to what WE want and have ordered. To me, tater tots aren’t what I want at a “Mexican” restaurant. You tell them “no, I want what I ordered”, same thing with a soda. Don’t add one soda for everyone. Not everybody wants and drinks it .

And let’s talk about the ATTITUDE of the dark skinned guy. MAKE AN EFFORT TO PASS THE FOOD TRAY TO ME, not just bend your arms three inches and I’m supposed to reach way over the register. I have arms and legs that don’t move well. Way to go on making the handicapped person feel welcomed here.🤦🏻‍♀️

Went to taco John’s for lunch today and the experience could not have been worse. Not sure what was going on but the place seems short staffed with the drive thru worker trying to take our order and listen to the drive thru orders coming in. It was painful to stand there and try to put in our order with the worker who didn’t seem knowledgeable at all in the menu or what Taco John’s even offers. On top of it, I ordered a stuffed grilled taco (which I have ordered many times from this place and it had always been made right) without the hard shell as it is my favorite thing on the menu, potato Olay’s and the fried chicken and potato taco. Not sure why this request was such a hassle but the comments from the kitchen that “it’s supposed to be a stuffed grilled taco with the shell” and this entire interaction felt like it took 9 years and my food was made incorrectly which tainted my experience with this place. Didn’t even want my food remade because of the poor customer service and the hassle it seemed to even order food to eat. On top of it, the ladies room wasn’t even accessible the entire time we were there which was about 30-40 mins. No longer a fan of this place for going down hill with the customer service. People can substitute and order things within reason and it’s not an uncommon request. Do better and consider elsewhere for a meal.

I had ordered 2 Boss Burritos STEAK and they gave me 2 Fiesta Burritos which ended up being chicken. I called to ask them to see what happened on their end or what’s going on. The manager went to go ask about the boss burritos and if we gave it to me, even though I already explained to him that two burritos were given to me, they were just the incorrect burritos and then he ended up hanging the phone up on me. I have continuously tried to call back multiple times and they have been answering and hanging up the phone answering and hanging up the phone and I finally got through on more than just one ring. They answered and hung up the phone. This is totally unprofessional from a manager, especially if you give the customer the wrong items I wasn’t looking for free food. I was trying to make them aware of the situation because the burritos are good still did I want steak though yes and I don’t know what the price difference is from the Boss burrito and the fiesta burrito and if I paid more for the boss burrito and I didn’t get it I would probably ask for a refund on just the difference alone. Such a shame that I had to call corporate.

Horrible experience. I ordered through the mobile app for a drive thru pick up. When I arrived, I told the drive thru employee I was picking up a mobile order. He proceeded to tell me to park in the lot and someone would bring our order out shortly. 15 minutes later, I had to go in because no one came out. My food was sitting on the counter (cold by the time we got to eat). The employee said “oh sorry everyone was on break” and walked away.

Do yourself a favor and don’t visit this location. Horrible customer service.

Food was fine. However, I have type 1 diabetes and after verifying that they had diet mt. Dew I ordered one. They did not give me diet, they gave me regular mt. Dew. Luckily this is something that I'm very hyper aware of and had my husband try the soda as well. I went inside to place my order to go, because I haven't been here in a long time, wasn't familiar with their menu anymore and I didn't want to hold up the drive thru line.

I didn't catch the cashiers name, but he was very helpful and super patient (not the fake annoyed with me either) with me. He made sure my order was correct and overall made my experience great. The food was fresh and in my opinion better than their competitor. I was ordering for my family of 3 and one of them is a picky eater.  It was nice being able to order for my family to go and not feel like I was being rushed.

The atmosphere was fine. There were younger people there, families, couples. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I don't have much to say about it as my order was for take out.

Ordered food through their website, when I arrived... the doors were locked and no-one was answering at the drive thru. I called the restaurant and was told because there was no manager, they couldn't open. I have no way of canceling my order, so because they're under staffed, they stole $18.85 from me. Was a first time Taco John customer. Food was OK - got the fried chicken tacos in Chipotle lime. Not bad at all. Potato oles were just thin tots, went well with the mel but I recommend getting the nacho cheese with them, much better. Service was fast and good.

This particular location was better than the last one I ate at, let me tell you.

I ordered the Super Burrito with a side of Nachos and sour cream.

Something was going on with the nachos, as if they weren't quite stale, but they definitely weren't fresh. Good enough, but could have been better.

The super burrito was nice, the ground beef was flavorful, it was nicely folded and had enough ingredients in it to make for a filling meal.
My only gripe is that I wish they would take the time to melt the cheese in the burrito, the cheese inside was colder than the rest of the ingredients.

In conclusion, this is your typical fast food chain fare. It's edible, Itl work in a pinch, but I definitely would recommend a taco truck if you can find one over this.

I ordered 6 meat and potato breakfast burritos that I wanted to customize and the guy that took my order was too lazy to press buttons on a screen, so he wrote it down on a piece of paper and handed it to the person making the food. Of course, my order was wrong. I reached out to corporate, and I haven't heard from them. Guess they don't care. Update: Corporate never reached out to me. Also, you can't even place an order with the app until 9 a.m.. How does that make any sense? How are you still in business?
Update: Once again, I had an issue with the same guy as last time. Granted, it's been a while since last time. Why does he still work there? I do, however, greatly appreciate the ladies who have made my food and the other ladies that I have dealt with at the restaurant. It's usually the ladies that I've dealt with when I get food to go, and my orders are always to go. The two latina ladies that make food are the best and deserve raises as well as the young lady that I believe is on maternity leave or was recently. I don’t know any of their names, and I don't know his name. Otherwise, I'd let it be known, especially the ladies who care about their job and work harder than he does.

I ordered the Potato Ole and it was WAY TOO SALTY. I even checked the bottom of the container and no difference. I ate 3 of them but that's all I could handle. I had to throw the rest away. (I'm sure it's good if you want to raise your blood pressure. 😉)

I tried to purchase the new Tostada online but couldn't find it on the app so I bought the Nacho Crunch Beef Burrito. That was very good.

I didn't go inside so I don't know about the atmosphere inside. The drive-thru was a little bit confusing and pretty stark.

Taco John's is a Waukesha icon. Unfortunately, it no longer seems to be gluten free. I have celiac disease and am very sensitive. I stopped there to get the new taco pizza. The person at the front counter was very friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to help me a choice for my potato oles. When not busy she came out by the tables and made sure things were clean and tidy. It was so much cleaner than most taco bells. Normally I love stopping at Taco John’s. Today was not so great, I ordered and adding cilantro, lime rice, and when I got home, I didn’t see it in my phone. I called and the manager was too busy to speak to me and the staff member told them what was wrong and the response that I got was that it was in the middle of it, I have a picture of the middle of it and it’s just a bunch of beans. I’m upset because they charged extra for the rice which is not there. The manager wouldn’t even take my call and brushed me off saying it was.

We went through the drive thru. We got all the way home just to realize we were missing one large potato oles and ALL of our drinks. On top of that, one of our combos was rung up with everything individually, costing us more money. We drove all the way back to get the missing potato oles and the drinks, just to be told, we only get 2 drink instead of the 3 we ordered because they only noticed the 2 combos and over looked the Large soda added on individually at the cost of $3.39... it was even on the receipt that was in hand. My husband chose to just leave with the 2 sodas instead of the 3 rather than flip out on the employees that were horribly failing at their jobs. This trip cost us extra money and was still missing items due to horrible service failures... about $5 worth of loss. Needless to say, we are not happy!

Overpriced, overcharged, poor customer service. Deceptive advertising. After 15+ years of weekly visits, to 1-2 visits per month the last year.
