I came in and the place was empty. The workers seemed frustrated that it wasn't busier. I ordered the ramen and was judging it's quality for my own reasons. The men behind the counter, who I'm guessing are responsible for the food, seemed to pick up on this. They started staring at me and aggressively and angrily doing their duties, such as putting away dishes or washing dishes. It made a lot of noise and they kept coming out of the kitchen to look at me, as if to say to get out. I decided to leave. I told the guy behind the counter that I didn't appreciate the way they acted. He said nothing, looked down, and smiled as if to say "Well I got you to leave so I win"

Easily the worst Asian food I've ever had. Echoing and loud. There were only 3 tables. The server didn't ask to get our drinks and got 2 orders wrong even after clarifying and didn't try to make them right. She did attend to the table regularly, but clearly didn't actually want to help. My fried rice had a pool of grease in the bottom. The chicken and steak hibachi was also greasy, dry, overcooked, and under seasoned. The Gyoza was tough and easy too chewy. The edammaes were overcooked, tough, and barely any salt. The clear soup was slightly salty water w some mushrooms and green onion. I would like not eat this again if it was free. I'd try another dish on another night but it's 40$ for the worst food I've had in a while and easily the worst Asian food I've ever eaten. They would get a 1 star if it wasn't for a nice restroom, nice ligting and scene, nice wait staff (no matter how incompetent), and terribly overpriced.
Not going back.

My family and have never had a bad experience at Takara. Good service good food leave feeling we ate a healthy meal. Go early on a Saturday or Sunday they are scrubbing down the restaurant from table legs table tops. Our favorite sushi restaurant and the price is very good. We go around 2-3 times a month. I ordered 2 uni sushi's, and a bowl of tonkotsu ramen. The uni tasted fresh, but I thought they were a bit small for what they charged ($8.50 per piece). The ramen.... ugh. Was pretty tasteless. The broth didn't taste like anything. Wayyyy under seasoned. The pork pieces were small and not all that great. They were... fine. The dish just wasn't great. Delicious food, but about half of my carrots were undercooked, almost raw. The steak and shrimp tasted very good and flavorful. Our waitress was attentive and sweet. The atmosphere is ok, but scuffed parts of the walls should be repainted.
There is NO POINT in having handicapped parking when the door closest to the handicapped parking is unusable. I had to hobble, with my cane, on a painful foot, around to the street side of the building to get to an entrance.

This place is both amazing and decent all at the same time! Each time I have been I have had cuts that are amazing and cuts that are only decent. Most restaurants are like that however the difference is it is inconsistent which cut it will be. Both the salmon belly and the mackerel were amazing last time and the salmon and yellow tail were only decent. This time it was reversed, so I can’t predict what to get. Bright side is they are amazing with shellfish allergies, that is super important and will keep me coming back

First off, a warning about the sushi. Specifically the California roll and Shrimp roll. I dined there twice in 3 months and both times have received bad food poisoning that has lasted over 3 weeks each time. You’d think after 3 months that it would improve, but no. I've been a long time patron of Takara 88. I've always enjoyed their sushi. The last couple of times I've gotten food there, within the last few months (first half of 2023) they have changed the way they prepare their rice. It tastes different and it has a chewy mouth feel and a tangy bitter aftertaste. It changes the taste of everything in a bad way. Would someone from Takara address this and perhaps change back to the way you used to prepare your rice. Thank you

I live on the west and was looking for somewhere close for sushi. Takara 88 has been on my list for awhile now so I was excited. I quickly became disappointed. Throughout my experience service was slow and inattentive. Staff weren’t engaging and moved without urgency. I found myself waiting long periods to get checked on and receive the bill. To top things off, I was charged for what another table ordered which took three people to resolve. I don’t see myself returning.

Very well presented sashimi, decently priced, kind staff, atmosphere is also different than most sushi restaurants. Definitely would recommend the sashimi , rice tasted better than most places as well. 5.9 update - quality has drastically slipped. Rice in rolls was at least a day old, veggies didn’t taste fresh and the amount of fish in entire rolls equaled the amount you’d expect in a piece of a roll. No more chances for them from me.

Rice was good but ratio of fish was smaller than average compared to amount of other ingredients. I also observed that they did not make online pick up orders until each person arrived and asked about it - even though they were not busy in the restaurant.

I’ve been to Takara 88 many times and the the food selection is good. I love the salmon skin sushi and tuna rolls. The sushi plates are generous.

I’m a fan of Takara, but I’ll probably skip the key holiday dates because the dine-in and take-out customers the management accepted greatly exceeded their capacity and both the customers and the staff suffered for that decision.

So definitely go to Takara 88 for the food…But watch the busy nights …The good food might be spoiled by the inconvenience.

My partner and I went around lunch time and were disappointed with our meal. He ordered a noodle soup, which had toppings like broccoli, mini corn, chicken, and tofu. He found that all elements of the soup were overcooked, so the texture was really off. He didn't eat much of his meal outside of the rice. My chicken katsu was alright, but quite bland. The chicken itself seemed completely unseasoned. The accompanying sauce helped add flavor, but was rather pungent. The restaurant's atmosphere was nice, at least, but it was unsurprisingly empty. Their sushi may be worth trying, but I would not return.

We truly enjoyed this high quality sushi/sashimi Japanese restaurant. After a long day of rainy travel, we were ready for a relaxing dinner. My Dancing Salmon roll , paired with a 300ml bottle of sake was delicious and filled my belly just right. Hubby’s chicken teriyaki was delicious. He was more hungry than me. He enjoyed his dinner with Kirin beer. We highly recommend this restaurant. If we lived nearby, we would certainly eat here often.

WOW. Why doesn't this place have five stars across the board?? We got takeout last night, and it couldn't have been better. We got a couple orders of the Vegetable Deluxe, which I think is an order for two, and I was really knocked out by the quality. Every vegetable was treated differently. There was pickled daikon, there was some tempura, and some things I'll be honest I can't identify. The seaweed was also delicious. Family loved the smoked salmon. Everything tasted amazing! Full order was ready in 45 minutes, and on a busy Saturday night with a lot of orders, we were very impressed with the quality. Staff was very attentive and continued to update us in our order. EatStreet tracked the order perfectly and it came out the moment it was supposed to. Best vegan sushi I've had in town and I want to eat here every weekend!

Went here on Sunday 3/20 and the food was wonderful. Soup was cold but that is okay.
They even accommodated our service dog and we got to sit in the outside dining that wasn’t to be open that day.
I would’ve given this place more stars if only the waitress that day was nicer. She had given us the lunch menu which I had not seen was not a thing on Sundays. The waitress then took the menu out of my hand while reading it and said, “This isn’t a thing right now you can’t order from this.”

The food all came out at once, appetizers are meant to come before your main meal.

The waitress never said thank you or your welcome whenever I said anything to her.

When it was finally time to pay she never came back out. We go inside to grab check and to-go boxes ourselves, and the hostess can’t seem to find our meal. Hostess goes and asks the same waitress what our order was and she says, “I don’t know figure it out.” And then went behind to the kitchen.

They have great sushi, get take out from here a lot with my friends. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is how long it takes for them to make the food, and the inconconsistent time estimates. Sometimes they are done 10 minutes before the time estimate, most of the time it's done anywhere from 15-45 minutes after the estimate. It's great if you have the time to wait, but sometimes it doesn't feel worth it

I really liked this place, but brought my partner, who is hispanic, and we were not treated the same as the white guests. Very rude, forgot about us, and even forgot some of our stuff. It wasn't busy, we saw how our server was much kinder to others. I loved this place before, but not anymore if someone who is darker is going to be treated less.

The food here is alright, nothing amazing. The service straight up sucks. They forgot my sons order so my wife and I ended up sitting there for 30 minutes with our food in front of us waiting for our sons food to get done.. definitely will not be coming back here again.
