We were in the area and decided to follow a TikTok recommendation to try some tacos and maracuyá water. We ordered al pastor, lengua, carnitas, and quesabirrias. Unfortunately, the water had an odd taste, and the tacos were quite simple, with the salsas being rather bland. I've had better tacos from a taco truck in Milwaukee. Overall, I was disappointed and feel it wasn't worth the drive.

The best authentic Mexican food in town! I've been coming to El Locale for years and it's still easily the best Mexican food in the area. The staff doesn't speak much English but are very patient and all you need to do is point to the menu item you want. Better quality meat in their steak burrito than the competitors - so tasty! Guacamole is made fresh to order. Highly recommend.

I had a DoorDash order this place has good food but their customer service sucks. I was a server for a very long time and a very young age and never acted so nonsense fits of all lmao I ordered a torta de asada with no beans and these people just put steak and bread together and made it a torta, when I picked up my order my bag was sitting there since I got there as I was looking for it and the server asked me for my name and I told her then she looked at the one next to mine and proceeded to say it was not there and it’ll be right out then another server asked and she picked up the one I was looking at they also didn’t give me salsa for TWO TORTAS lmfaooo they be taxing for that low ass service. We ate a late lunch here. We are from South Texas and we were visiting the area. I got the beef super nachos. Lots of chips, not much meat, good flavor, no cheese, drizzled a little sour cream sauce on top. Had some lettuce on top with slices of fresh avocado and sliced tomatoes. Half the chips were dry so I didn't eat them. Cost was $15. My husband got chicken enchilada plate w beans and rice. He said the flavor was good. Cost $15. Their chips and salsa were flavorful. The chips are thick. Their salsa had a good flavor. Service was excellent. Some reviews mention that no one spoke english here. We did not experience a language barrier, wait staff seemed to communicate fine.

I ordered breakfast and clearly told them in Spanish I also want some food to go After I'm done eating for lunch but instead they bring my breakfast AND my lunch together. Then they just put my lunch under the counter while I ate breakfast, letting it cold. After that every time I order the food and service just gets worse.

Great food but service needs work. I’ve dined here many times but received horrible service each time. Waitresses never ever check up on you. I have to go to the host stand and ask for more water, chips or the salsas. I ask what’s on a certain dish and they respond with “nose” (I don’t know). When you go in the restaurant, they don’t greet you. You say the first word and tell them why you’re there. I stopped dining in and got to-go instead. They answer the phone rudely like if they’re over it already. Many people have told me they stopped dining there for the same reason: service. They need to be trained. I hope management sees this and so every customer leaves satisfied. It’s just never a good experience. This restaurant has so much potential but the service is the absolute worst. I cannot stress that enough and we can only hope something gets done about this because it is great food.

This restaurant is a great spot tucked away by a grocery store. When you step inside there are bright and colorful tables and you are greeted by the staff. They will seat you. Their menu consists of Mexican standards. I had a Chimichanga with steak (asada). I did not have beans with it but rice instead which was delicious. The Chimichanga was excellent. The chips and salsa they brought to your table was wonderful. Light chips, great flavor on the salsa with moderate heat. The service was attentive and the price of the food was reasonable. I strongly recommend eating here if you are looking for some authentic Mexican food.

Su menú consiste en estándares mexicanos. Tuve una Chimichanga con bistec (asada). No comí frijoles, sino arroz, que estaba delicioso. La Chimichanga fue excelente. Las papas fritas y la salsa que trajeron a su mesa fueron maravillosas. Chips ligeros, gran sabor en la salsa con calor moderado. El servicio fue atento y el precio de la comida era razonable. If you don't like Mexican food, you haven't had Mexican food. This is it! This is the only place in Wisconsin that has the authenticity I'm looking for and I have been here 20+ years. I'm from SoCal; I know Mexican. The beans are not pre-prepared nor canned. I stated to our lovely server-sweetest lady ever-that I could taste they aren't canned but cooked FROM SCRATCH in their kitchen and she confirmed. They make the sauces. The tacos, if you ask, are true Mexican street style: two yellow corn tortillas that have not been fried, but charred in the oven with meat (so many choices, even tongue!) , cilantro, and onions. I've had some similar with salsa fresca before so I added that at the table. The rice is unbelievable. My main item was enchiladas con pollo with red sauce but they have green. It brought back California memories because you rarely find this in this state. The menu is in Spanish but I can pick things out due to growing up around the language. If you're really unfamiliar, they will help you. And check out the market attached. I got Ibarra hot chocolate tablets that are hard to find; I like to just eat them like a kid. And I had to get some pan dulce: Mexican sweet bread. It's as light as a feather. That's breakfast tomorrow.

5 star food, 1 star service. I try not to ask much of wait staff as I know how taxing and exhausting of a job it is, however, the waitress who handled our order today was beyond rude. I’ve been here a handful of times before and despite the occasional language barrier I’ve never had an issue with any staff. We ordered and after receiving our food asked for salsa and she clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes. I wouldn’t have minded on a busy day but we came when the restaurant was next to empty.
