As locals to the area, this is one of our favorite spots for a fun dinner. This last time we had the absolute best server too, which was the cherry on top. Love coming in for margs, appetizers, and sometimes a full meal! Great for singles or groups, and huge serving sizes for most meals. Our favs are the fajitas, quesadilla, and smothered burritos. Definitely recommend for a Tex-mex outing!

Terrible experience. We sat for nearly 20 minutes and no one ever came to take our order—not even water. The waitress saw us but ignored us, and the staff just stood around doing nothing. We ended up leaving without eating and wasted all our time before our next commitment.

On top of that, tacos are $7 each, which is absurd for such awful service. Definitely not worth it.

The food is always delicious, definitely one of my favorite vegetarian/vegan meals in town, but the service varies. I've never had a bad server but sometimes it takes forever because they've only got the one person serving, running food, checking people out AND making drinks; so it's not the servers' fault, Tex tubbs just has a bad habit of understaffing and acting like it's fine.

I don't often review restaurants, but felt I needed to for this one - was recommended for their happy hour & just got home - tacos were good, margaritas were better - unfortunately, environment was much less than clean. I sat at the small bar, as I was alone - I had to wipe off the bar area were I sat, as there was debris from prior patrons left, right & center - staff watched this and did nothing to intervene - one staff member did see me throwing napkins in the trash basket, and emptied that when I was done, as it was full - after paying the bill, I went to the restroom: I've seen truck stop restrooms much cleaner than this, and no paper towels to dry my hands (HATE using toilet paper for this) - funny thing is, this was right when the after-work crowd should be starting to arrive - here is my question: if this is what you let the patrons see, how filthy is that kitchen area? Given that concern, I won't be back - too bad, as there is potential there, but I don't want to get sick.

Tex Tubb's Taco Palace catered an outdoor wedding celebration for my daughter and her husband recently. The food was great; we got many compliments from the guests. They were prompt and set up in a timely manner. But I have to say that the staff went over and above for helping us out with serving the food. The frozen margarita is more liquid than frozen. Most items are flavorless, greasy, and heavy. I had the queso dip, steak taco, and cod taco. Somehow the green salsa is water-forward but spicy on the back end. The red salsa is overpowered with garlic. The flank steak taco was average. The cod was so greasy i only took one bite and it tasted like nothing. The queso was okay but thick and lacked any nuanced flavor. Chips were crispy and well salted. Service was efficient and unnotable.

This was my second time going. I hated the first experience- it was freezing and uncomfortable. I figured we would give 'em a second chance. I had the green chiles chicken tacos. Ugh- absolutely no flavor. My month is full of taco, but there's no taste- so weird. I didn't bother finishing the third one. After you get a good bite of fat and gross parts that should have been cut out-- you lose your appetite. We ordered a chips and queso, which was 9 trucking dollars and the chips ran out before half of the queso was gone. By the time we got some more chips, the question was cold. What a waste. Parking is also very difficult. I can't think of anything they have going for them--just didn't want to go 1-star, lol.

I came in today and I wish I never came at all. The service is terrible. I came in and asked the guy at the front if my friend came in and he just looked dumbfounded.i described the girl I was waiting for and he looked around briefly but really didn't care at all. The waitress at the bar looked over at me and my friend a few times and didn't even ask if we wanted to be seated. My friend got confused about a bar table. The looks me and my friend got were crazy. When I was waiting for her a couple of groups of white people came in and got seated with a smile and we are different races me and my friend. This establishment is racist. When we finally got to our table the two servers one male and one female never acknowledged that we were even there at all!! The tacos I ordered were just thrown together no presentation. The simple things like a straw and a check I had to go over to the server to ask for. I don't know if the employees didn't want to be bothered but guess what it's not my job to chase you down for things that were supposed to be at the table. Everyone else that came in after us in groups got served immediately with a smile and a warm welcome. I will not be visiting this business ever again. I wish I can get you guys 0 stars.

We went last night with a big group and this place exceeded our expectations. They were busy but our server was amazing. She was patient with our big group and even allowed us to bring a cake and sing happy birthday. She brought out plates for the cake and let us enjoy and catch up. On my radar for about a year now and finally tried it. I LOVE the fact that their vegetarian/vegan options are numerous and not an afterthought. Listen, if you've never had street tacos in Austin, LA, Chicago, Nashville (the list really does go on) and you don't know how rich and flavorful they can taste, by all means try this place, you might enjoy it. But I found the meat to be dry, overcooked, and without much flavor. Plus my waitress, though nice and also bartending, didn't take my order or give me so much as a menu to look at. I had to grab one from the other table then hunt her down to place my order. I spoke with the other table after the meal and they felt the same way about their tacos (and the service I received). The margarita was the best part, dry without any sweetness so hopefully that's enjoyable to you. Luckily this was happy hour, but $2.50 really is the most you should pay for one of their tacos. Maybe there's decent tacos in Madison, but not here, sorry.

superb happy hour alert! this spot was a recommendation from a friend who lives in Madison. We got a reservation for 4pm and were seated right away, which gave us the one to order chips & queso, along with half-off margaritas & tacos! We split the cucumber marg, hibiscus marg, and mango marg pitchers. I got the green chile chicken taco and an avocado frito taco. I couldn’t finish it all, but wish I could’ve because it was all so delicious. The ingredients were fresh and quality and the tacos were stuffed. Salsas were spicy and fresh, too.

The servers bopped by occasionally and were always helpful and attentive when at or around our table.

Bathrooms were unisex with a cute gemstone/rhinestone border around the restroom sign.

Definitely recommend and hope to go back when we’re visiting in the future.

My husband and I ate here for the first time on a Thursday around 11:45. Parking was adequate and the restaurant was not crowded. My hairdresser recommended the place as we were in the area.

We started with queso and chips, requesting them to hold the salsa. We loved that we got a bowl of queso that was big enough for all the chips.

My husband had a regular beef taco salad (they will make any taco into a salad). I had a regular ground beef taco on soft corn tortilla. Oh my! It was so, so good, as was my husband's salad. The taco was stuffed full - a little hard to handle, but I ate every bite. We had their churros for dessert. They came out hot and delicious.

Two things I need to mention. This restaurant has low table and booth availability- important for disabled and elderly. This was a big plus as so many places have gone solely to pub tables. And, my husband dies not like Mexican food and always fusses about going to a Mexican restaurant. When we left, he said, "When can we go back?!"

We live in Fitchburg and not in this part of Madison often. We are already planning to come back in a few days.

My family I recently visited Tex Tubb’s with our pup. The patio was closed as it was late October but staff offered to let us sit on the patio with our take out. The food was quickly prepared, hot and delicious- we shared a variety of tacos and chips and queso.

We are from out of town and after we left, I realized I forgot my credit card at the restaurant. I called and the manager confirmed it was there and kindly offered to mail it to me. I received it a few days later - saving me the hassle of canceling the card and getting a new one.

My husband and I went for a late anniversary dinner here last night. I chose the location due to how close it was to an event venue we were going to.

I would highly recommend the tacos. You can pick and choose what you want. The chicken tinga taco was to die for. The chicken was the perfect mix of tender and spicy.

Tex Tubb's is one of our go-to spots. Never disappoints and consistently offers up classic Tex-Mex food. But they really shined for me the other evening. I shouldn't have, but I ordered delivery through EatStreet (I wasn't feeling well), but any 3rd part app takes a commission from the restaurant and isn't incentivized to treat anybody that well -- never going to order from them again. Their driver never showed up, and it'd been over 2 hours since we ordered. When we called back, the staff here apologized and offered to bring us the order themselves, plus re-made one of the dishes and threw in some chips and salsa. They really went above and beyond and made sure we had a great experience! Can't recommend enough.

We stumbled on this cute place with excellent food. We will definitely be back. The brisket quesadillas are fantastic and so are the 3 salsas that are served before the meal. Five stars.

Tex Tubb’s is one of my staple go-tos. The food is consistent, which is what keeps us going back, as well as having so many vegetarian/vegan options. 8/10 times the service is top notch. I have had to stand at the door for long periods of time before being greeted, and have had to be surrounded by dirty tables on more than one occasion but it’s stuff that can be looked past since it isn’t a regular occurrence. Definitely recommend checking it out for all occasions.

The food was delicious, specifically a couple of the taco styles and the tortilla soup. The service was beyond excellent; timely, very accomodating, addressing all needs. We went for my daughter's 8th grade graduation.. they wait staff asked about (not told) and made it very special.

Amazing tacos! The beef brisket is one of my favorites. Also really good chips, guac, and salsa (the orange is my favorite). Good vibes.
