Had lunch with a friend. The only option on Sunday was the breakfast buffet. Limited options but food was good. I had to make my own waffles, which was fun, but messy. The waitress was very friendly and helpful.
I thought it was too expensive for what was offered. I would have liked to order off the menu instead

Great ambience. Our server was so caring. The acoustic guitar live music was a bonus. I had the walleye. It was very tasty. The relish bar needs a little love. A few more salads and a pimento cheese? Maybe some fresh bread? Otherwise loved it. We will be back.

I had a very special person visiting & he wanted to have brunch at an upscale restaurant. I googled & the brunch was listed as abundant. I knew he loved Eggs Benedict & website said they had a Chef that prepared it. When we walked in I was mortified! No fruit, a couple of pastries, old scrambled Eggs & instead of Eggs Benedict, they had breakfast burritos! I apologized to him. He paid the $50+ bill & we left. I don't recommend 1844 Table & Mash to anyone!

We had an unusual Monday evening dinner. It was our first time at 1844. The dining room was nearly empty, only one table was occupied when we were seated. 4 other tables filled in as the evening went on ... so it was slow, but not a ghost town. The waitress was perfectly nice. Everything was rather slow, weirdly slow, so slow it was a bit awkward. Food and drink was good, but far from awesome. I'm really easy to please so that says something. The place looks really nice ... outside and inside. One minor annoyance was a group chatting very loudly in the bar nearby. The menu was limited compared to some other restaurants. One surprise was dinner did not include a salad. We ordered the cheese curds for an appetizer and it was super. I'd go back, but I'd hope to hit a better night service wise.

Little disappointed when we went here because I wanted to order food in the Crow's nest in the bartender told us we would have to order it to go and go downstairs and pick it up and then bring it back upstairs to eat it. Then 10 minutes later we saw a server bringing up food to a table so it was a little bit confusing and disappointing. We ended up leaving and going and eating somewhere else. Hopefully they get this figured out because they do have a menu just for the crows nest which doesn't make sense if they're not serving up there

When we arrived at the restaurant there was nobody at the counter to greet us and another couple waiting in the lobby for the host. So we decided to go to the bar and sit at a table. They were busy and nobody acknowledged us so we sat for 10 minutes got up and went back to the lobby and still no host. Couple minutes later the host arrives and sits us in the dining room. We sat there for 20 minutes and nobody came to our table. Inside the dining room there are approximately 15 tables and approximately 5 tables had customers at them and we noticed 3 or 4 waiters/waitresses working. Not one person bothered to say anything or make a jester that we were there. There was a table two down from us that were sat after us and were waited on. So I got up to see the hostess and again nobody at the counter to assist, so we got up and left. My opinion is there is no leadership and the staff appear to be somewhat missable. I’ll bet the hostess did not tell someone that she sat us and the waitress thought she didn’t do her job so pretend I didn’t see them. Again it was dead in the dining room. I noticed the staff in the dining room were not smiling for the twenty minutes we sat there making me believe it most be a miserable place to work. We ate there before the service is slow, but the food we had was good and the environment is pleasant. I hope someone gets control of the dining room and turns it around.

Monday night dinner not busy and no one ever brought out our drinks. They never even made them. They stated they were short staffed and got busy just 5 other tables with couples. Other than that the food was delicious. Horrible service. We had to go to the bar to cancel our drink order. No one even came to fill our water.

1st visit. Maybe last.
Service was horrible, see my glass in photo. I also asked for water. She walked by twice and checked our table.
Experienced is what is needed here.
The food was as average. Salmon was not well done.
Chicken Parmesan was good portion. Had to again ask for cheese.
We made reservations on open table 7pm was earliest they had. This is how busy it was at 715pm.

This place is inside an old hotel. The hotel is amazing view and decor.

Atmosphere was good, but a lingering smell of broken perfume bottle was in the dinning area. If you are sensitive to smells.
Maybe it was a customer.
Overall it was average to below experience.

Food was quite tasty. There were a few issues with service and our order (wrong side, soup never came before entrée, didn’t get our drinks brought to the table for nearly 30 minutes). Atmosphere is great for a date night or drinks with friends and is fairly casual. Overall it was an okay experience but the servers were understaffed and nobody from the bar or the manager seemed to jump in to help.

Not sure what happened. Ordered three prime rib sandwichs and one ribeye. Everything came out barely warm. Ribeye was ordered medium and came out charcoal on one side and almost raw on the other. Sent it back it came back cooked closer to medium but the fries were very cold as if they didn't even put them under a heat lamp. It's very nice inside and the staff were very friendly, I will try them again soon and update this if it's better. Hopefully it was just a bad night in the kitchen.

I never write reviews. Ever. But the meal I had here was so insanely delicious that I HAD to write a review. My kids took me here to celebrate my birthday. We started with a few stiff cocktails and shared cheese curds and a Caesar salad for appetizers. DELICIOUS. My entree was a filet with mash and a warm mushroom and greens salad. The filet was COOKED. TO. PERFECTION. It was THE MOST SAVORY, BUTTERY, MELT IN YOUR MOUTH, LIKE, WHY AM I UP AT 4 AM DREAMING ABOUT THIS STEAK SO HARD THAT I AM COMPELLED TO WRITE A REVIEW, ILL NEVER FORGET YOU, kind of steak. The service from the waitress and bartender was extraordinary. The night was perfection. Will definitely be back AND I’m bringing friends… so look out.

It was so...meh. The trout was unbelievably overcooked. It was so dry and I had to saw through it with my knife to even cut it. Not flaky, not falling apart the way it should. Potatoes and Brussel sprouts with it were also sooooo dry. I told the server and she just told me no one ever told her that before and took the plate. I didn't eat it and she didn't care.

The brandy Alexander was also full of ice. It was crunchy. Skip the dessert cocktails.

The good was the prime rib. My husband ordered it and it was fantastic and smokey.

I would skip this place. I understand sometimes dishes don't turn out but the server could have at least pretended she cared.

Service was exceptional. Gabby is attentive and understanding. Food was subpar, particularly for the price. I have no problem paying for good food, but 1844 is lacking. The bread was dry and perhaps freezer burned? It was not good, at all! Olives out of the jar? For this class of restaurant? Unacceptable. The lobster bisque was just awful....very fishy. The Caesar salad dressing was tart...old? Or just not mixed correctly. The grilled shrimp was good. The Prime Rib was tender and good. The creme brulee lacked vanilla flavor. Essentially, I now understand why the restaurant was virtually empty on a Saturday evening-- two other couples only. This restaurant needs work! But the service was excellent. Food....1 out of 10... a 3. We will not revisit this establishment unless there is a significant change.

I've been to the brunch a few times with my wife and toddler and its always been very pleasant. However we went for mothers day and the ballroom was decorated brilliantly. Very elegant, not too crowded, had no issues with the reservation. The experience was delightful and I would encourage anyone to go there.

The food was very good, they had your typical eggs and sausage, to mac and cheese and fish, to prime rib and shrimp cocktail.

Went their for the unlimited salad and soup bar. Soup was good but the salad bar was a 0. Not much to choose from. The greens were wilted and the iceberg chunks too big. We were expecting a much better selection like different kinds of soup, macaroni salad, etc.

I really want to like this place. As a lifelong Kenosha resident I am grateful for what the developers have done with the former Elks Club to turn it into a destination and event space. I have been to the restaurant twice in the last month. The atmosphere is very nice but the service leaves a lot to be desired. The first time we waited 10 minutes after being seated before anyone came to our table to get things started. I should say that it was not busy at the time. The food on that visit was good, if a bit pricey for what we got. Last night I took a group there and we didn't find out until we got there that they were still using the Valentine's Day "special" menu, which was about a quarter the size of the regular menu and seemed more expensive. Service, again, was a challenge with our server neglecting to bring someone a drink order and then telling us that the bar was really busy. I was literally looking at the bar area from my chair and that was plainly a lie. Three in our party ordered the chicken picatta and while the meat was okay, the bed of pasta had been overcooked into a mushy paste. Two of us had fish fry. The fish was decent but clearly overcooked at the fillet was stiff as a board. It's hard to want to patronize this establishment with the prices where they are and the service where it isn't!

Was disappointed in the value for the selection. Given the charge I would have expected a carving station or omelette bar. Maybe drink specials.
Buffet was standard hotel breakfast buffet. For a brunch I would expect more than eggs and bacon as a protein option. There was no vegetarian protein option.
Bagels only bread with limited fruit selection.
2 Server’s and our didn’t keep drinks filled without being called over.
Not likely we will return.

We came late for dinner on Saturday night and we had burgers and cheese curds that were very good. The burgers had good flavor and the curds were light, fluffy, and tasty.

We also came back for brunch the next day. Hwnc the low score. There were children running around the dining room, the food was sitting out. Missing utensils and serving spoons. Small selection. Service was lacking for not that many people. And the made-to -order omelettes, we cancelled after waiting 30 min.

Great space and great employees from our experience but the Sunday Brunch is not good. It's basically a glorified continental breakfast. And I've had better breakfasts for free at other hotels. The best thing I ate was a waffle from the waffle machine (the same kind they have at a free breakfast hotel) I wish we would've driven to Mad Rooster and had an exquisite breakfast there for way less money. Disappointed and sad. I had looked forward to this for a while. Don't let the online menu fool you like it fooled me.

We love the food and atmosphere, but continue to have horrible service every time we visit. Last time, several orders at our table were incorrect and it was impossible to track down our server. We ended up just eating things as is instead of waiting and waiting. Tonight was the same. We were the only people in the large dining room and they seated a large, loud group right next to us. I had to move my chair as a man sat so close to me that his chair pushed against mine pushing me toward our table. Our food order was incorrect and we didn't get any drink refills at all during our dinner. We had a hard time waving down our server for things. We had an error on our check that was not fixed correctly and then we waited nearly an hour to get it rectified by the manager. Unfortunately, I'm not sure we'll go back.

One star because it is a restaurant that serves food and two stars because our server was nice, but otherwise it was a terrible experience. We made a reservation to try this place to celebrate our anniversary after living in Kenosha for 5 years. We were the only table at the start and only a couple other tables filled while we were there. My husband tried the old fashioned flight and they were the worst he’s ever had. I ordered French onion soup that tasted like they tried to melt the cheese with a blow torch and was inedible. We both got salads that were included with our meals and they were drenched in dressing as if they were trying to hide wilted lettuce. Our entrees were luke warm and closer to bad wedding food than fine dining. We were excited to try a new place but really disappointed in Kenosha’s “fine dining”. I would have preferred a fast food anniversary dinner over this.

The 1844 seems to have an elevated opinion of their own business. Good, not great, food; so-so service, EXPENSIVE BAR with TINY drinks (my Bloody Mary was served in a glass just a little larger than a juice glass - as was my wife's Diet Coke and she was charged again for her larger Diet Coke in the dining room). Our group seems to be okay with The 1844, but no one is singing its praises. I just think I can wrap it all in just a few words:

To set the scene, our group ranged from 35-44 years old. We are all parents and what I would consider successful in our careers. We love greasy burgers to fine dining. Most importantly, we love good food.

Went to Brunch on 8/21/23 for the first time with 6 friends. This was one of the worst brunches I've ever experienced. I rarely write reviews but there needs to be a honest review for those who expect delicious food when dining. Price is not an issue for us but the food and all beverages were blatantly low quality. The orange juice is identical to what you get in cup at the hospital. The coffee was of equal quality and burnt. The Bloody Mary was flavorless. The pastries tasted wrong, like the container they were stored in. At one point, my friend next to me eating a hot item from the brunch said, "Something doesn't taste right, I should stop eating this." The cubed ham in my omelet was difficult to chew. Every aspect of this brunch was cheap.

My main issue is the horrible quality of the food but if service is more important to you, know it was also unacceptable. We had to ask 2 servers to get someone to restock plates at the buffet. Parts of the buffet would be completely empty - fruit plate, salad plate, etc. Never to be restocked during the 2 hours we were there. We were there for 2 hours not by choice, the service was like the food, poor. Server was nice but rarely came around and would seem to disappear.

My husband and I lived in downtown Kenosha during the time the building was renovated. We looked forward to the day we would have a reason to be a guest and, more importantly, dine at what we expected to be casual fine dining. The room similarly to our dining experience was cheap and unmaintained but I don't care enough to write a review about that. What I do care about is Good Food.

There are much better brunches in the downtown Kenosha area.

My girlfriend and I stopped in because we were looking for a nice dinner and good vibe in the small town of Kenosha. I’m not from here so I googled dinner in the city. It was in the stars that we were directed to 1844. We didn’t have a reservation but we didn’t really need one because it wasn’t that busy (5pm). We decided to sit at the bar because that’s always our preference.

Andrew was our bartender and let me tell you…he was amazing! My friend and I told him what spirits we liked and he made us cocktails that were 100% spot on to our taste. This is a beautiful historic building. There was a shared parking lot and street parking. Once inside, you can see the attention to detail that was given. The atmosphere is comforting yet elegant.

Amazing food! So flavorful and delicious. Definitely one of, if not the best, restaurant in Kenosha.

My wife and I had the cheese curds, stella burger, and Stella fries. The curds and burger were phenomenal!

We are excited to come back!

Loved all the meat, the bacon was just right. The fruit was good , but they did not refill it, it lacked vegetables, except for a salad(with only one dressing) …absurd. the oatmeal dispenser fell apart. The potato’s were partially burnt/scorched. There was no bread of any kind. There seems to be a problem with staffing, the host was nowhere to be seen, for at least 5 minutes when we came in. There was also no one in the bar, or restaurant for several minutes either. Bizarre. For the price I would like a little more than something I can get for free at hotel breakfast bar.(where you don’t have to pay extra for beverages)

Sunday brunch buffet. It had some outstanding items. The eggs Benedict were killer on a hasbrown instead of English muffin and the sauce and crispy flavorful meat pieces were-all phenomenal. It runs 10-2, got there a little before one and they were down to a few pieces of fruit, which we ate quickly and they never replenished it. It was odd, is melon more expensive now than meat? There was literally so much meat-sausage, bacon, butter filled chicken breast and baked chicken, but no veggies/fruit besides some salad greens. There was an omelette station, maybe i should have had him fry me up some veggies. The desserts were NOT from scratch, subpar-but i think people are used to that. As for me-if it ain’t from scratch it ain’t passing these lips😉 oh and the waffles were this batter mix with funky artificial flavoring-…no go.

The food and atmosphere were good, but the service was terrible. Drinks took 30 minutes to arrive, they forgot our appetizer and soups, without even an apology. It wasn’t overly busy but the waiter was non-existent, wasn’t providing good service to any of the tables. On a trip to the restroom, there he was in the lobby chatting with a friend! Also, our bill didn’t reflect the restaurant week discount, but we didn’t wait around. We left cash on the table and left because the waiter never came back. The dining experience took so long that the ice cream shop across the street had closed, adding insult to injury.

Updated review. This place has come a long way since my last review a couple years ago. The food is much better. The cheese curd appetizer is fantastic. Their signature cocktails are tasty. However, my fettuccine alfredo left a lot to be desired.

Been here several times over the past 2 years. Once for Easter brunch- which was in the upstairs ballroom and was a positive experience, despite the large crowd and light staffing of the event. Dinners have been hit or miss- steaks were very good- other menu items that sounded interesting had weird flavor profiles, esp if the dish comes with any kind of sauce or accoutrement, etc Probably better to stick with dishes that are simpler when ordering. The atmosphere is cozy in the dining room and bar area. Noise level can be a little conversationally challenged if it’s crowded. I’d still say this is a great date night place. I love that this building has been rehabbed with apparent care and focus on preserving its character. Extra bonus if the ice cream shop across the street is open after dinner!!

Absolutely the WORST service I’ve EVER received! Georgie your waitress (if that’s her real name) is horribly rude & spoke to us In the most condescending manner. Upon arrival she made it clear she did NOT want to serve our party of 11 so because of her tone and lack of interest in seating & serving us we asked the bartender Andrew if we could sit in his section and be served by him and he happily sat us and made us feel a bit more welcomed however we could not get over the treatment experienced upon arrival. I was extremely excited to bring my coworkers here for our monthly staff meeting that we have at various local restaurants. I tried to enjoy the company of my coworkers however we felt uncomfortable and rushed through our meeting because of the lack of good service. The food & drinks were just OKAY nothing to brag about.
Also management is a joke (Tiffany) when I asked to speak with her she sends her business card out to me and tells Andrew to have me call her regarding my concerns. If this is the type of service you all continue to give, your restaurant will continue to remain EMPTY as it was tonight.

Took my wife here for an anniversary brunch. Beautiful building interior and restaurant atmosphere. The ice water had an unfortunate bad after-taste though. I was fine with the food. Me and my wife weren't impressed by the service though (despite how slow it was at the time). Had the potential to "wow" us, but didn't succeed.

Last time I was here Tory was my bartender. Someone needs to tell Freddy Krueger to either remove those unnecessarily long finger nails or put gloves on because those are a health code violation. It was beyond disgusting watching her pick up garnish with just her nails like they were chopsticks and scooping out cherries with her nails like they were spoons. Also tell her a single tall means just a shot not four shots with a splash of mixer.

When entering for dinner the door was locked and we had to enter by the hotel lobby and walked through the breakfast areas. Not a big deal but not welcoming. Then I noticed a large cart of half eaten food and dirty dishes which was from one of the smaller event spaces. Again not horrible, but not appetizing. The bar was nice, but the eating space was nothing special and it felt like a hotel. Plus the entire time we were eating people from the wedding upstairs or small party kept coming in and then leaving. There was also no music playing, everyone could hear our conversation. Drinks were small, expensive and unremarkable. We had a bloody mary, maple old fashioned and strawberry refresher. Dinner was also expensive, for such lack luster food. Everything is a la cart. Thats fine but if you do that I expect amazing sides. That us not the case here. We all had a wedge salad. The dressing choices were ranch or vinaigrette. Not sure who serves wedge salads without blue cheese especially in Wisconsin. We did enjoy the crispy onions on top. The salmon that arrived was overcooked and had a thick skin on it. The sauce was all over the plate, horrible presentation. The smashed potatoes were gritty and we were unable to eat. The vegetable of the day was asparagus and all off the woody part of the asparagus was used didn’t eat. Lasagna and Bucatini were unremarkable and bland. Service like the food was below par. Our water glasses were not filled until two minutes before we left. I left a full plate of my bucatini and was not asked why. We sat with empty plates for 15 minutes, I think we were checked on once. My mother commented oh I thought he left. I felt horrible that I suggested this place to my family and it was horrible. Plus the prices are outrageous for the quality of food, drinks, and level of service. At the end of the meal I was go to talk to the hostess, but none was present at the desk. I think they should stick to catering vs restaurant service, hopefully that is good. I would hate to be a bride paying those prices for bland overcooked food.

Sunday brunch was perfection! Inventive selection on the buffet, from shrimp to scrambled eggs, breakfast pizza, prime rib benny, and omelets made to order. Don't forget the bottomless mimosas. Service friendly with just the right amount of attention. Highly recommend. Parking is free in the garage across the street. Space is beautifully decorated and comfortable.

Tried the brunch for the first time. I'm not crazy about buffets, but it's local and i wanted to try it. It was clean and there were several options. The food tasted ok. The made-to-order veggie omelet was good, and the fruit was good. Everything else was just ok. 3 of us ate, with 1 drink each for $100. I think it has potential for being a good brunch option some day. We will probably give it another chance then.

The 1884 is a wonderful dining experience. We went here for a birthday dinner. Enjoy the drinks, the beef, the potatoes, and all the other entrees.

We loved the experience and the food, but the services was less than excellent. We waited a while for a few things that were rather standard.

Altogether, you’ll enjoy your time here.

Make sure you budget your time to check out the hotel and ballroom. A truly beautiful venue,

I am sitting in the restaurant upset at the condition of our food. We ordered 5 chxn parms and veggie portebello "steak and frites" and ALL were served burned.
The staff was amazing with taking responsibility and I am very pleased with the customer service in assuring we were satisfied with the decisions that were made.
I will be coming back, I've eaten here before and I know this isn't common.
Everyone has a bad day now and again

This place is an absolute joke. Went at 6pm on Friday April 1st with just a two top. Place was dead, tons of open tables everywhere, and not one single person waiting at the hostess station. Was told it would be at least a 30 minute wait. Walked out. Plenty of other places nearby to spend my money at.

Beautiful atmosphere. They were understaffed due to the low capacity so it took some time to get our drinks and food. Very friendly staff, food was not as great as expected but still great scenery. Higher end on food prices that I don't believe matched the quality. I ordered the chicken parmesan (basic) and my husband was going to get fish but they were out of it all, so he got a burger (more basic). It may have been us ordering plain food but it was not up to par. Still a nice experience.

Service was slow but we expected that that due to staffing. However, we had to flag down our waitress for everything. Rarely checked table. The drinks were too strong, not balanced properly which is a shame because in a place like this I would expect a mixologist. The salad was DRENCHED in dressing. The meat was cooked perfectly although it was way too salty. Over seasoned. No bread served with dinner surprised me. For the price I don’t think we will go back.

We had dinner reservations for 7pm Saturday July 24. We arrived 645pm and sat in the lobby and waited until 705pm when they took us in. I expected to see a full dining room but there were maybe 7 tables seated. We were seated at a wobbly round table that was constantly uneven. We were immediately freezing because the AC was on full blast which is ok because it was 90 degrees outside. But to sit as long as we sat we were shivering 20 min in. Our waitress was very nice and we ordered cheese curds which were amazing. The menu was quite limited and if you wanted filet medallions you had to fork out $36 for 2. We ordered 1 Chicken, 2 orechitti, and 1 Califlower Mash. We waited very patiently for a long time. Finally at 815pm I was very irritated and flagged down our waitress, who was trying to avoid us, instead of keeping us informed. She said it was almost done. We received our food at 820pm. The chicken was dry. The orichetti, had a very off taste. My one daughter took 2 bites. I tried it too and thought it was off. And then my Cauliflower mash.... I love cauliflower mash but this was really weird. It was like baby food only a bit runnier. And it was served on a plate so it was a chore to eat. Why they didn't serve it in a soup bowl I will never know. It was $100 and I gave our waitress $20 because it wasn't her fault. At no time did a manger come and apologize for the wait. Nor was anything comped from the check. I would not recommend this restaurant and I am very sad about it because we, as locals, have been so very excited for The Stella to open. The place is beautiful! So sad that the restaurant really brought it down a lot.

We had a reservation for 7:00 pm and got there a bit early. Hostess told us no room until 7, but the dining room was not even half full? Dining room was freezing cold. Cheese curds were the best we’ve ever had. My soup was cool temperature-wise. Over an hour wait for average food. Won’t be returning.
