Finally made it to The Bar Next Door in Windsor last Saturday night! Located right next to the Super 8, and it was BUSY! Cheese curds and Smash Burger were on point/delicious. Drink prices were reasonable and service was friendly and efficient! We will definitely return for the Jersey Disco Fries!

When we pulled up and saw this place attached to a Super 8, I almost told my GPS to apologize and take me somewhere safer. 😂 From the outside, it screams “sketchy motel bar where bad decisions are made.” But once you walk in… wow. This might be the greatest plot twist in Wisconsin dining history.

The Smashburgers? Absolute perfection—crispy edges, juicy middle, flavor that makes you question every other burger you’ve eaten. The appetizers? Dangerous, because you’ll be full before the burger even arrives (but you’ll still eat the whole burger, trust me).

This is legit some of the best bar food I’ve ever had, and I’ve been around the block. Five stars all day. Don’t let the Super 8 fool you—this is a hidden gem worth the sketchy entrance.

Great curds, great burger, good grilled chicken sandwich. I loved the use of Stella's spicy cheese roll for the bun. Good ranch for a dipping sauce. VERY reasonable prices for the amount of food you get. App, two sandwiches, a beer, and a pop cost us $48 after tax.

Busy place on a Friday night, good atmosphere and friendly bartenders. The music was also all great 80s and 90s rock/alt music.

Ok wow. I'm so happy I was brought here. Friendly service amazing food and a fun atmosphere. This is a bar. This is a bar with elevated food. Small menu. Small because they have perfected everything on the menu. Almost everything is homemade and it's all locally sourced. Staff was super inviting and extremely helpful. Litterly the cheese curds are from NEXT DOOR! I wouldn't be surprised if the motel part shut down and the restaurant stayed. P.S. you don't need ketchup for the fries. The BDN sauce is perfect. I felt bad for asking for it before I tried it.

If you're ever in Windsor/Deforest area and are hungry, check out Bar Next Door that opens at 3. Stopped there today after Jordy and Easton's baseball game. Side salad $4 had fresh greens, oranges, apples, red onion, cherry tomatoes, candied walnuts and really good vinegrette. Hot Nashville chicken sandwich and fries $13.50. Really good!

We went on a Thursday night and the bar was busy but not too bad. Started with a great Bloody Mary (but surprisingly no chaser.)
Our waitress was very attentive and explained the menu so well.
We split the Reuben egg rolls which were crispy and filled with corned beef. Absolutely delicious.
My husband had the smash burger and fries and I went with the grilled chicken sandwich that is served on Stella’s spicy cheese bread. IYKYK. I upgraded to the truffle fries with garlic aioli and was so happy I did.
The menu isn’t huge but when you offer such quality, it doesn’t have to be.
Can’t wait to go back!

Showed up right when they opened for the day. We were the first folks in but it filled up quickly.
The bartender was kind and helped us right away. I ordered the Elvis burger and my buddy went with the original smash burger. I was very happy with my food. The fires were awesome, too. Our first ever visit was on a Friday night around 5:30pm. The place was packed! We learned seating is essentially first come first serve. No worries, we ordered a drink and waited for 2 seats to open up. Was about 10 minutes.

The burger was an absolute delight! The homemade meatballs are super good. Make those into a meatball sub!!

We have lived in Deforest for almost 4 years - and I didn't realize we had this treasure in our backyard until tonight while dining with friends. I got the grilled chicken burger with truffle fries. The toppings on the chicken burger were really good and flavorful. The chicken itself had little seasoning. The chicken wasn't dry at all, which is great—just not very flavorful.
The truffle fries were not my favorite, but that is because I personally do not like truffle fries. I'm sure they were amazing.
The service was really good. Two of the people in my party shared a burger that had bacon on it and they asked for the bacon on the side. When their order came, the burger still had bacon on it.
So the server said they would remake their entree for them. Super cool.

This place is incredible, and it's all the better for being tucked away in the first floor of a super 8. What this team has done in terms of combining a local spot with great food and drink is incredible. The attention to detail really shows how much they care about doing it right. I got the Elvis and my wife got the regular smash burger. The fries were some of the best I've had. Mike was able to tell what our id order off the bar (Eagle Rare at $8.50) by smell of an empty glass. Megan,who seems to be a regular, was my wife and my BFF for the night. The ahi tuni looked incredible. I just don't know how many more positive things I could say. This place is deceptively superlative even if we watched the Brewers wash out of the playoffs again. Went for the first time this past Friday night. When we got there it was very crowded. We found one table with three stools (there were 4 of us). The manager saw us and quickly found us another stool. He told us it would be less crowded in 20 minutes because there was a large pre-game group there. The service was good and the food was great. Fantastic place! One of the best I’ve been able to visit frequently in my travels! Nick is the best! The good is so tasty and quite unique options they have on their menu for this area!
Billiards, darts, great music! Nice amount of area for dining and they are family friendly!
Definitely make sure to stop by every time I come through town and have even gone out if my way to stop by and say hello to the locals and workers! I love this bar!!!
