I had the Saturday night special prime rib. Nothing special about it. Asked for it medium rare got it medium well done. It was tuff and dry. It was more like a over done beef roast. The waitress didn't really seem to care when I told her it wasn't very good. Basically gave me attitude and a feeling of o well not my problem. Well you may not care but here is your 1 star review. I ll never be back. I should have gotten a grill a cheese

First time here. The catfish was delicious, the coating was light & crispy & flavorful. Cheese curds had a great flaky coating & yummy cheese. Hubby had the ribs and the sauce was so delicious& unique! Salad bar and soup were tasty! If we were local, we would totally be back!

We were going to be in Prairie du Chien from out of town so I researched for restaurants for our anniversary dinner and found this one. We made a reservation and were seated right away but not on the main dinning room but in a hall between it and the bar... The bar had 2 I would think already drunk guys close to us talking really loud that we were not able to hear ourselves.
But the food wasn't great either. Rib eye was good, but garlic mashed potatoes were nothing special. Soup and salad bar were below expectations too: there were a lot dirty cups for the soup, the soup was almost cold and with too much pepper that it didn't taste good. The salad bar did not have bread rolls, basket was empty and it stayed like that.
So, not a very pleasant experience for the price.

The dining room was crowded, so we ate in the bar area . Sat at a table and was greeted promptly. We had craft beers and an appetizer. I ordered the bluegill instead of the walleye since you don't see bluegill on many menus ! The salad bar and entrees were great ! The service was excellent. Can't wait to go back !

I ordered the ribeye sandwich but could barely cut pieces of it and couldn’t chew it. It was supposed to have Texas Toast but came with a slider size roll. I also ordered American fries and they were big slices of potato’s. Very disappointing. I ended up not eating anything.

This was simply one of the best dining experiences I've had in recent years. After a long, hot day of kayaking on the Kickapoo and Wisconsin Rivers, my group of five dined fairly late here. The atmosphere is the perfect mix of feeling slightly upscale while actually being very casual. The salad and soup bar is very good - numerous pasta salads and potato salad in addition to a very good selection of veggies for a standard salad. Bonus points for finely diced red onions and green peppers, my preference. It's nice that they have Italian dressing - many salad bars only have French, ranch, blue cheese, and thousand island, which all pretty much defeat the purpose of eating a salad. They had two soups, and I had a cup of the vegetable beef, which was excellent. My group ordered a wide range of dishes. I had their spaghetti, which had an interesting Bolognese style sauce that was ridiculously good. The garlic bread was exactly my jam - soft with the slightest crunch. Others in my group had the salmon, walleye sandwich, shrimp, and tenderloin sliders. Everything looked delicious, and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Service was courteous and efficient.

Very cool building inside and out. Excellent service. Unfortunately for $100 I expected better food. The shrimp and fish were way overcooked and very rubbery, and the breaded scallops were very weird. The steak was good. Cheese curds were unbeatable.
I suggest staying away from their seafood, except maybe the "locally caught" catfish that I didn't try.

Great place to eat at! I absolutely loved the salad bar! Also loved the atmosphere and coziness with the lights. My chicken fettuccine alfredo was delish, the chicken was so tender. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal too. Good service and cocktails too. Was too full for dessert, but I’ll definitely be back when we are in the area again.

Had dinner Friday night. Came in with a group of 8 less than an hour before close. Becky was our server and she was a delight! That was single-handedly the best service I have ever experienced. We had an absolute blast and the food was great. Becky deserves a raise and a statue in the front of the building. What an absolute legend.

Came into town to visit Wyalusing State Park and had a fantastic dinner to start the weekend off right! Our server Kathy was lovely and attentive. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and coziness even in a large restaurant. I had the ribeye and it was one of the top three best steaks I have ever had in my life! Found out the chef that made it is Alexis. I urged the server to let her know how incredible it was. Literally melted in my mouth. My date had the fish fry and it was very tasty and they gave you more than enough that you didn't need to do the all you can eat option. Salad bar was fun but could have used some signage to tell you what was what. My only complaint is that the garlic mashed potatoes that came with the steak are out of a box. I could have cried. They have I think five different potato sides. So to use something out of a box next to an award-winning steak is an offense against God. Why?? Just why?? I know that being from Chicago and eating in Wisconsin can have a culinary disconnect, but that is a step too far. Seriously, homemade garlic mashed is a must! Regardless, I would absolutely go back and simply choose a baked potato instead. Absolutely worth checking this place out!

This restaurant was recommended to us by our River District hotel desk staff. I'm so glad we decided to go. The food was so delicious and my husband had the astronaut punch cocktail. I had the chopped steak with candied yams. Amazing! I have Celiac disease and was worried their menu wouldn't have many options for me but I had no issue finding something good. I highly encourage making a reservation (their website says this too) if you can. Since we came in from Madison and didn't know we were going there until 5:00pm we grabbed some open chairs at the bar (more like the edge of a half wall so it was an awkward position to eat) and ordered and ate there. Which was fine but a table would have been way more comfortable. We would definitely return if we ever go back to Prairie du Chein.

Rib special was not available on Thursday night. We opted for the quarter broasted chicken. I chose American fries for my side and they were overly sweet and inedible to my pallet. The chicken was just OK. Perhaps the best part of the meal was the help yourself salad bar. The gun displays were a little unnerving. I will not revisit.

Absolutely loved this place! We went for my birthday dinner. Wonderful supper club type atmosphere with candles on tables. Salad bar, fresh rolls with real butter! I had walleye which was delicious! They gave me a piece of homemade cheesecake for dessert for my birthday, it was amazing. We didn't have any alcoholic drinks, our bill was only $44 for an amazing meal! Highly recommend reservations as this was a Wednesday evening at 5 and they were booked, the owner squeezed us in!

Wow, what an interesting place. Super retro and kitchy. Drove three hours for their Friday Night Fish Fry. You should try it. The all you can eat beer batter cod is to die for. The staff was the friendliest in Wisconsin! Best to get a reservation, but they squeezed us in without one. Outstanding experience!!!!

The Barn was a pleasant experience. The salad bar was very fresh with several delicious pasta salads and pickled beets! Hubby had the Chipotle chicken pasta and he said it was very good. I had the lightly breaded shrimp and it was some of the best I have had. The reason for only 4 stars is because of the iced tea. It was from a concentrated mix not fresh brewed. Big disappointment for me. Also they serve Pepsi products and I prefer Coke. The service was great.

Came here to try the Saturday prime rib because it was cheap, and it was cheap at 30 bucks a pop so can't complain too much. Salad bar was ok, nothing to write home about, but I don't know why it was limited to a trip. Soup was good. And the sides were decent but the portions were small. Raspberry Cheesecake was good. Expected more from a restaurant that requires reservations.

This joke of a restaurant told us they were booked up till 8pm when we arrived at 5:30 pm and over 1/4 of the tables were empty.
Dude was straight up a joke and the place smelled of stinky fish and old carpet.
Save your time and money, go to the porch instead, have a good pizza and some ice cream and a better day than interacting with a joke of a restaurant and front desk guy.
Either pay your guys more so they can get some form of pride in their job or find some other employees.

The atmosphere when you walk into this place is really cool. A lot of interesting things hanging on the walls. The waitress was very friendly and was very good at her job. I tried the local catfish and it was delicious. The broasted chicken was really good too. The salad bar was the biggest I had been to in a while. Anniversary dinner. Lost reservation..I was a wee bit peeved and took it out on the server. I apologized profusely. Ended up at the bar by the window. Hannah is exceptional. Love her. Ribs were out of this world. Walleye 6 out of 10. Needed seasoning. The salad bar was good but it looked as if the locust had just gone through. But good choices. Good wine list. Bit expensive for Wisconsin.

I can't say enough about our experience at the Barn. Everything was great. Beautiful place with tons of rustic wood and decor. Very good bartender that doesn't try to upsell. Our waitress Samantha was attentive and helpful. Ham and bean soup is excellent. Nice salad bar with greens and other stuff. Steak and salmon were both delicious. Even the veggies were nicely seasoned. Cheesecake was amazing! The manager even stopped to check on us (remember when that was a thing!) AND, pricing is very reasonable! Not much room for improvement, great job guys.

I have eaten here many times over the last few years. Finally taking a few moments to put together a wonderful review.
The atmosphere is unique and fun.
The food and service are outstanding. We've never had a complaint about anything we've ordered. I highly recommend the Friday night fish fry. Everything else on the menu is just as fabulous. Try the baked sweet potatoes as a side. Soups are delicious.

The atmosphere was AMAZING! We had a large party and the reservation was at 7:30. Our service in the beginning was pretty good, and then it went downhill from there. We ordered cheese curds and onion petals, and the ranch was so good! The kids all ordered hamburgers and fries, and I think they forgot any kind of seasoning, and the burgers were dried out. The salad bar was my favorite part of the meal, lots of different pasta salads and 2 soups clam chowder and tomato. The clam chowder was the best I've ever had. The table ordered cod with candied sweet potatoes, and this was not good. The fish was greasy, and the sweet potatoes weren't cooked. Next order, ribeye with garlic potatoes. The steak was a bit too fatty, but the meat that I did have was pretty good, especially with the au just. The potatoes tasted like instant, and I'm not a fan of those. Next order, chicken sandwich and fries, again no seasoning and it was very dry. Next order, barn burger, fries, loaded potato. The hamburger was dry, and the bacon was raw. The potato wasn't cooked all of the way. The mixed drinks were great, pineapple upside down cake and the Mississippi mudslide. We arrived at 7:30 pm and we received our food at 8:40 pm. We had to remind the waiter that we didn't have our food. The appetizers did arrive in a timely manner, though.

Party of 8 and everyone was disappointed with their food. Scallops were not cooked all the way through, fish fillet was raw on one end, beef tenderloin fillet medallions were tough and chewy, twice baked potato was definitely not a twice baked potato but a baked potato with hash browns on top and melted cheese, crab chowder soup was made with imitation crab and was barely even warm. Terrible experience and would not recommend.

My husband and I both went with red meat. I had fillet medallions and he had the porterhouse. Both were cooked well. Our sides were fabulous. I highly recommend the sweet potatoes. We were also offered a trip to their salad bar with our entrees. That was so good!!! It wasn't just a lettuce salad but also several other varieties of cold salads and a couple of soup options. The price can't be beat for a nice dinner out.

What a great place. It has the old time Supper Club feel and the food and service are excellent. A large traditional menu and great salad bar. Worth a trip from Iowa, it is our new favorite restaurant.

Very nice restaurant. Great value and food for the price. Fish was tasty and the salad bar had an excellent variety of toppings for green salad and several other side salads, ie, potato, pasta, cole slaw etc. Glad we stopped.

Wonderful dining experience at The Barn. This restaurant accommodates all ages and tastes with an old fashioned charm that was perfect for our group which ranged in ages 2 years to 85! Featuring local caught catfish and other seafood delights, high end steaks, kid favorites like Mac n cheese or corn dogs and a variety of yummy sides. We came to celebrate anniversaries with a party of 13. Our service was excellent. We throughly enjoyed the soup and salad bar. The cocktails were delicious and priced right. Highly recommend The Barn if you are in the area.

Rustic barn venue on the outside, classic Wisconsin supper club on the inside. We had great service. For once I didn't have to explain that I wanted my Old Fashioned sweet with brandy. Supper club for the win! I had the cream cheese stuffed salmon based on another review's suggestion, It was amazing. The Barn is worth a drive if you're out along the river!

Great place for dinner, located north of Prairie du Chein. The food is excellent and comes with a trip to a fully stocked salad bar. The menu has both seafood as well as steaks and chicken. We have been here many times and never had a disappointing meal.

Ordered the Atlantic Cod meal. Most of my fish was raw. The service was mediocre. The prices don't match the quality of the food. Spent almost 60 for 3 people. 2 of us ate less than half our plates. We will not be back.

The restaurant has a Supper Club feel. Lots of old antique artifacts and items in and around the restaurant. Inside has the feel of an old hand crafted barn, with hand worked wood. The outside has a covered bridge you walk through to get to the restaurant. Under the bridge is some water features, one of which is you can feed the ducks. I had the Friday Fish Fry Cod. I tried two different types of batter, I preferred the beer batter fish. I really liked the tarter sauce served with my fish. The meal came with Soup and Salad bar. The salad bar has plenty of variety of toppings as well as pasta/potato salads etc. I’d recommend this place. It was busy but the got us served quickly and efficiently. Reagan was our server and did a good job.

The Barn is a true great experience! The food is tasty and delicious and staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant offers one trip to the salad bar and soup with main entries. There are many choices to choose from. My husband and I ordered different dishes and we both were happy with our choices. He ordered the special of the day, half rack of barbecued ribs, and I ordered salmon stuffed with spinach and cream cheese. It was my first time ordering this stuffed salmon and it is my favorite. Our waitress advised me to try it because it was good and it was also her favorite dish. She was right, it is so good! This is not our first time here, and it won’t be the last either. We went on a Thursday, so it wasn’t too packed. Yet, we made a reservation as we know this place is always busy. If you want to go on a Friday or a weekend, or at dinner time, I would advise you to make a reservation. There aren’t many options of good restaurants in the area, but this one has great food and that explains why everyone comes here. Pictures are of the dishes we ordered.

I had the salmon and it FAR surpassed Outback for size, quality and flavor (served with hollandaise)
The candied sweet potatoes were well prepared and again very generous
My uncle had the chopped sirloin. It was HUGE and was heaped with mushrooms and onions tender and well seasoned
Be sure to make reservations…it’s always a full house
