If I could give 0 stars I would for the horrible customer service rendered by the staff at the inn. A group of us, for 35 years, have been renting a condo every year the same week in October through the inn. This year, before we even checked out, they rented out our space to someone else for the next year. Seems after 35 years we should get priority to re-rent or at least the courtesy to ask if we wanted the space next year. All we were told was “too bad, that’s the way it is”. I think if the actual homeowners knew the way the inn treats renters they would be appalled! It’s been a real disappointment to leave our fun girls weekend angry because of this awful customer service. Not only have they lost our rental dollars, but we will not support any of the other interests the inn controls such as their restaurant, bar or other businesses in town. And we will spread the word!

Enjoyable place to stay, if possible get a lakeview. Room was clean. Breakfast only meal ate at hotel which was delicious. Coffee tasty. Only tip is that I recommend that you put a towel in the tub prior to showering - there were no safety mat in tub and in my room a safety bar was outside the tub area near the shower head. This was room 101.

The Bayfield Inn is a stylish spot for breakfast, perfectly located in the heart of the city with stunning views of the lake and pier right from the dining area. While the space isn't overwhelmingly large, it feels open and thoughtfully designed, offering plenty of seating and ample window views for everyone to enjoy a peaceful, scenic morning.
The ambiance strikes a balance between chic and cozy, making it an ideal place to start the day. The breakfast menu suited my taste perfectly—well-curated, with a good mix of classics and unique options. My meal was prepared quickly, and the staff were efficient, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic.
Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. It not only made my breakfast decision for tomorrow an easy one, but it also gave me the chance to try something new. Highly recommended!

We ordered the fish fry and were very disappointed. The white fish fillets were extremely thin and overcooked, while the fries were soggy. We sat on the upper deck, which had a beautiful view, but that couldn't make up for the poor quality of the food and the lack of service from the staff. I'm sorry to say, we won't be back.

We stayed recently for our first visit to Bayfield, which is a great little town. We were Jacuzzi suite in the basement because that was all that was available. We moved to a smaller and less expensive room after our first night given the amount of noise from the restaurant that is immediately above the room. It continued until about 10 PM and started again at 6:50 AM with chairs scraping on the floor constantly right above our beds. If the Jacuzzi suites are all that is available, I would book a different location. The front desk service let me know multiple rooms were available, and then said she would need to charge me for an additional night to move to a smaller less expensive room. After reaching out to the manager, she did let us know that they would not charge us but that shouldn’t have even been a consideration.

We had an early dinner here after an Apostle Islands cruise on a glorious early September afternoon. We were able to secure a lovely table overlooking the harbor, enjoyed drinks while watching the world spin by, & loved our meals which arrived quickly. We didn’t want to leave this lovely spot!

We stayed here two nights in late August, and we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very clean and nicely appointed and of moderate size. The two restaurant choices (rooftop or inside dining) added to the experience, and the view from our room of Lake Superior was awesome. We would definitely stay here again on a return trip.

I didn't stay here just ate their restaurant with the view. I left my sling and didn't notice it until I got home 4 days later in a different state. I wasnt sure where I had lost it and was calling all the establishments I had been to check if they had my sling. The lady at Bayfiled Inn confirmed they had it and would ship it to me. And boy did they ship it with everything still inside my purse! Hats off to them for their prompt shipment. Thank you very much !

I had a reservation at the Garden Guest House. When the hotel called to confirm my reservation, I was told there was a microwave in the room. Calling this room an economy room is a joke. No microwave. Coffee maker was broke. Any little noise in the rooms above were magnified in this room. Anyone showering or using the toilet in the other rooms were clearly heard. Talk about getting no sleep. The staff at the hotel were more concerned about the other staff rather than the guests.
My favorite part of the conversation with the front desk manager was when she started saying she has worked there for 5 years. I immediately asked how was it that she didn't know the room didn't have a microwave.
They also need to find a better cleaning service. When we arrived, the sink was full of stubble. Really gives you confidence that anything was actually cleaned.

The rooms are updated and modern with great overlooks of the lake. Literally, just one block from the water - you can get no closer.

The restaurant is great, too. The inside restaurant has big windows allowing one to watch the waves while eating breakfast - try the stuffed French toast, it's to die for. The patio is amazing for a libation or two in the evening.

Due to a wedding that booked most of the main building we were in the Isaac Wing. We got a very nice room with a view of the lake that, on our first night, featured a night of distant lighting followed by an early morning thunderstorm (4am) - very cool! Looking forward to a decent eggs/pancake simple breakfast turned into a waiting game for no reason. |Husband and I were the 1st ( and only) patrons to arrive for a nice breakfast with an outstanding view...Should not have been so hard to expect the basics.|When my food finally arrived it was as cold as room temp at best...when your butter does not melt when it is spread on your pancake you know...I easily picked it up with my hands to make a point...same with the eggs which were not what I had ordered..over med came to me over easy. ..Yes, there is a big difference. Equally cold to the touch.|My hubby breakfast was served hot....So...did the cook make my order then start hubby's order and let mine sit????...it is the big question.|Remember we are the only ones in the restaurant eating...* One other person was there but he was only having coffee at the time.|I sent it back and was told they would make a new order...OK, but 15 min's later still no food..by this time hubby was done eating. ..I know it does not take this long to make a pancake and fry some eggs.|When I heard the waitstaff/cooks laughing back in the kitchen it made me so mad I got up and left..Not playing this game for my food...Why were the waitstaff/cook laughing so loud?...probably because there was nothing else to do, we were the only table waiting to be served. and no other patrons arrived the whole time we were there..... The restaurant has an identity problem. For the prices you would expect tablecloths and servicers in something other than hoodies and tennis shoes.

The food was okay but didn't live up to the prices. Blackened T-bone (ordered Med, received Med/well) and Walleye (the only fish available that evening) The menu was that of a supper club and didn't go with the vibe.

We spent $100. for two people. I would skip this restaurant and go to the many other options.

Sat on the upper deck. Odd that we were given a menu and had to circle what we wanted and take it to the bar ourselves. Requested no avocado on my turkey club but they must have mistaken that for no turkey. Club came with avocado but not one piece of turkey. Basically a BLT is what I got but with avocado. They did make it right by refunding my money. Apparently you are your own waitress at this establishment. We were seated and never acknowledged again. But a beautiful view. Won't be going back

Excellent location and view in downtown Bayfield. Pricey, but all locations on or near the lake are that way. Room was clean, and beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very handy restaurant with a great view of the harbor and Lake Superior. Food is pricier than some of the other restaurants in Bayfield, but the food is good and a fancier setting. Some of our group had the blackened whitefish, which they said was excellent.

The service was excellent and so was the food. Loved the Florentine Benny and my companion really enjoyed the Omelet we added a side of smoked lake trout just to taste, it was great and I think it should be an add on to the Florentine Benny. Would definitely come back when in the area.

Our family has made three trips up to bayfield this summer and not once have we had a good experience at the Bayfield Inn. First time food was over cooked, second time we had to wait for special hours to dine, the last one today, the receptionist was rude. I did state to her that on multiple occasions we were not able to eat due to kitchen being closed, and that they are in a tourist area and are losing business. Her reply was its only an hour sir. Our people need a break. Sorry, hire more staff and keep the restaurant open. I am sure I am not the only one who will walk past and sit at one of the other fine restaurants in Bayfield. This is probably one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in Bayfield!

For reference, I have stayed in a lot of hotels in the Bayfield area over the years, and I have to say this was the nicest one yet. It is a little expensive, but in my opinion it was worth it!

We booked one of the jacuzzi rooms for a weekend (which of course is more expensive than a regular one) and I am so glad we did. The jacuzzi was so relaxing and the room itself was comfortable. The staff were super nice and accommodating. Although we didn’t need anything during our stay, I’m positive it would have been taken care of for us.

The parking is spacious and you get “permits” for your stay so that it ensures all customers get parking. It is in such a convenient location because everything is within walking distance. We were deciding between this one and another location and I am glad we chose this hotel because of it being so convenient to stay in the parking lot and just walk where we needed to go without stressing over parking.

The only downside is that there is no continental breakfast. They do have the restaurant attached which we had dinner at and it was delicious. Also, they have vending machines where you can purchase snack. However, for the price we paid, I will say the main con I had here was not being able to have anything included for breakfast, even if it was something simple or some discount for purchasing a room at their hotel. Thankfully there are quite a few options to choose from for breakfast (including the attached restaurant), and I know there aren’t a whole lot of other hotels in Bayfield that actually provide breakfast either. So unfortunately this is something that is hard to come by in general if you want to stay in Bayfield (unless you go to the bed and breakfasts or stay in Ashland).

We spent our 30th anniversary at the Bay field Inn. We received a bottle of wine and chocolates with a nice card congradulating us. The staff at the Bay field Inn and at the creamery pub. Were so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms were very clean. Best breakfast in town there. We were even invited to the annual Kentucky Derby party. The party was a bunch of fun and even had free hordevors. I just can't say enough about the staff at both places. In a world where you never know what your gonna get, these is places are a jewels. Great time I would recommend this to anyone I know.

Not accommodating for business work. Stayed here for an interview for my husband. We saw online that the hotel stated that there would be no food (even breakfast) available during our stay (not a big deal as its the "off season") so I made and prepped food. My husband wanted to sleep in before the big day and I work remotely. The hotel manager was not accommodating to me using the closed lounge or dining room to sit at table for work. I was forced to leave the hotel to find a coffee shop to work - and of course then had to buy breakfast and tea to be a paying customer to squat in the café to work in the morning.

The views say it all! Located atop a hotel right in the heart of Bayfield, The Deck at The Bayfield Inn boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the Greatest Lake. As it pertains to food and beverage, the food and drinks are decent enough, though they’re not the reason we return year after year… It’s all about the location.

The menu boasts a short, but sweet, offering list of appetizers, sandwiches, and fish tacos, with a few vegetarian options, too. Kids can eat for a mere $8, which includes a side and fountain drink, and adults can enjoy Bloody Marys and local on-tap craft beer.

Logistical considerations: Despite being an outdoor venue, The Deck is not pet friendly. Also, every year we’ve visited, there’s been a healthy presence of wasps, bees, and things that may sting. We’ve literally NEVER had a problem, but if you’ve got little kids that scare easily, or if you have an allergy, it’s a worthwhile consideration.

We spent our 20th Anniversary over an extended weekend mid-September in one of the Andrew Tate condos. It was absolutely wonderful and worth the extra cost. We were greeted with a hand written note and a bottle of wine. The condo was clean, fully stocked with dishes and modern. The little deck off the condo is so fun. You can view main street, the Deck restaurant and the action on the water. Noise was not an issue as the bedroom is on the backside of the condo. Location is excellent. Minutes from the ferry, shops and all the restaurants. We parked and never moved the car except to go on a kayaking trip. We ordered a salad and peanut chicken sandwich at the Deck and both were excellent. Top notch customer service at front desk and at The Dock. Highly recommend.

We stayed in the hotel one night and was very pleased and comfortable. The room was clean. It was a little pricey but that is to be expected in a such a beautiful area. Can’t say enough about the staff, especially check in staff in late afternoon. We had an issue getting into the room. We notified the staff and they were on top of it! They upgraded our room to view side at no additional charge and we were unwinding within about 10 minutes. Evidently we visited about one week before summer tourism starts but it was perfect for us

As advertised this is definitely one of the best views in Bayfield looking out across the lake to the islands.
I only had drinks here and yes, like many have mentioned there are no servers, but totally understandable given the employment market here. What really impressed me was the NA spirit free drink options . Really great to actually be able to have a decent tasting spirit free adult drink.

The shareable nachos were soggy upon arrival to the table. There were spiders crawling everywhere around our food at the table. The front host was watching videos on his phone, and I had to ask him several times for a to-go box. Then I ended up not taking the food to-go because the paper underneath had disintegrated into the food. Other than the view of the lake, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We didn't stay at the Inn, but we did eat at the restaurant. Food was delicious, but our dining experience was horrible. Two of the Inn's employees along with their friends were dining there the evening we were there. Those employees and their guests were extremely loud, used the "F" bomb numerous times, and continued to loudly complain about the food and the other patrons. It was unbelievable. We, along with several other patrons, complained to our servers, but nothing was done. Apparently there was no manager on duty to handle his or her own employees. Maybe we should have called law enforcement to handle them. Very disappointed! We ended up getting our money back, as well as other patrons, for our horrible dining experience.

Paid $56 for chicken Alfredo that we didn’t even eat. It had no flavor, tasted like flour/water sauce. Service was subpar, I would think a server would ask why no food was eaten. Would not recommend.

I’m reviewing the rooftop restaurant only. The food was great, you can’t beat the view. Prices were meh. What gets me is they charge a $5 service fee. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind paying for service. But this place makes you mark down your order on a menu and then wait in line at the bar, behind everyone ordering drinks. There literally is no service. Eliminate that fee and I would give it 5 stars, no problem.

The restaurant is terrible! You serve yourself, order at a window, buy water and they won't provide tap water. THERE ARE NO SERVERS! You need to be into second hand cigarette smoke as well as there is smoking allowed ! Food is ok, but absolutely not worth the irritation of standing in line to order a beer and second hand cigarette smoke.

Recently spent 2 nights at the inn. Room was super cozy and so clean. We ate at both the decktop and dining room restaurants and food and service were great. Inn staff were so nice and friendly. Because of its location so many things and places are within walking distance. Definitely would recommend.

Had dinner at The Lakeside Dining Room and was not impressed. Husband had the scallops, very overdone. Garlic mashed very bland. Sever brought our food out and we never saw her again until she came to ask about dessert; dining room was not busy so not sure where or what all the servers were doing or where they were at. People waiting at the door to be seated and hostess was also mia. Expected better food and better service for the prices. Now we may understand why they were not busy. Personally we do not recommend the dining room. Very disappointed.

The showerhead was nice and the lakeside view incredible! The beds were fine and there were ample pillows. Mini fridge in the room. One communal microwave, near the vending machine.

There was little to block noise from room to room. The doors were heavy but outdated and ill-fitting. It is a little alarming, when you first turn out the light and see the lights from the hall while inside the room. Still a solid lock and perfectly secure.

Wow! Rachael and Duey help to make this a one of a kind experience. We had so much fun celebrating in Bayfield and the Bayfield Inn really lives up to its location on Lake Superior. Everything about this was superior (food, customer service, drinks, conversation, views, ice bridges). We had so much fun and cannot wait to go back next winter!

I love the Bayfield inn. We enjoyed lunch here. I appreciate the view, of course, and the food was fantastic. Service was great as we were on a bit of a time crunch and the building itself is quite nice. Again, another place I'll be sure to visit again.

I had the fish and chips with a salad. A couple of beers.

Eat outside on the roof. Great view of the water. But do be mindful that it’s like eating at Long John Silvers. Plastic silverware. Plastic plate. Paper bowl if you order salad.

This Covid nonsense is never going to end if we continue to tolerate this. Use real plates and silverware! You wash them in a machine with crazy hot temps. This is absurd.

Customers need to start demanding real dishes and plates. Especially considering what we pay for the food they serve.

Unbelievably, they have a policy against providing tap water to customers on the rooftop deck. I was first told they don’t have any water, and then I pointed to the soda gun 1 foot away from him that says WATER on it, and the sink. He said “I don’t make the rules”. And I don’t patronize restaurants with such ridiculous policies.

Stellar communication, Alicia called me to confirm my reservation, upon review the room I booked online did not fit my needs and offered to change my reservation over the phone. This made my trip and stay so much better. Great cleanly room and the quality of the stay were stellar.
