Was in Port Washington for a short weekend and one morning stopped in for a breakfast at the Beacon . It is part of the hotel on the ground floor . It was fairly busy for a breakfast but we were seated immediately no wait . Staff seemed a bit backed up but they did a good job and quickly took our order . Food is good . I wasn’t too hungry so a basic avocado toast with a side of fruit and coffee is all I needed . Tasted good . There is a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant/ hotel which is a plus .

We were staying in the hotel and we decided to try The Beacon since it was on site and it was raining. What a wonderful turn of events, the food was very good and the staff was wonderful. They were very friendly, didn't just greet us and take our oder, they spoke to us and made us feel at home. We had the Primerib and the Chicken Marsala, paired with seasonal veggies, salad with home made dressing (Ranch & Blue cheese). A great meal!

This is a great location in downtown Port Washington. It has nice views of the harbour. The food is fresh, hot, and good portions. The service was always friendly and prompt. There is an outdoor patio and plenty of indoor space. There is a nice bar area if you are looking for a place that is a little less busy than some of the other bar / restaurants in the area.

Had a great breakfast at the Beacon restaurant. We enjoyed the harbor view while eating. We both had coffee, which was nice and strong, and we both ordered the Captain's breakfast. Hubby added an extra overeasy and sausage to go with his bacon. I just ordered bacon and scrambled eggs. Bacon was cooked perfectly, and the sausage was very tasty. Great portion size. Our server was attentive. The only downside was that we were seated by the door leading to the patio. It was very busy with people going in and out. Our table was definitely too close to it.

** updated review: our first time back since they reopened. The dining area had a few open tables , we had a 30 min wait which was fine. Once seated, we gave our simple breakfast order with our beverage order. Our waitress brought our coffee and milk in a timely manner and over the next 40 minutes we never got our food or a return visit from the waitress. There were other tables who were ahead of us still waiting for their food as well. We decided to leave, we let the hostess know our reasons, and walked over to Dockside Deli for a timely and well made breakfast. We will not be back to the Beacon

(Old review) We live in Port and this has become one of our favorite go- to breakfast places. The food (a standard ample breakfast menu) is always fresh, hot and very tasty, the eating area is small but never overcrowded (at least when we’ve been there), and the staff has always been friendly and attentive. The bar on the other side of the wall serves up the usual including Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas. The view out the windows is the classic harbor town view complete with fisherman and the Lighthouse in the distance.

I only gave this one star because that’s how reviews work in order to post anything. This place had a fire in January so they’re not even open. It’s actually part of the hotel so you won’t be getting any kind of continental breakfast or food at this hotel either. It’s disappointing to say the least.

If you happen to stay at this hotel, be sure to get a harbor view room and not a street view room or you won’t get any sleep because of the traffic.

I stayed at the hotel part in the past. I had the BEST omelette I have ever had on the first morning that I ate there. This was a breakfast that was so good that I had a dream about it. The last weekend i was there and it was like I was at a totally different restaurant. The omelette was horrible. The staff that day was not cooperative at all. They acted like they didnt know what I was talking about. This morning 7/27/2024 I called the restaurant before going to try to get to the bottom of this. They said the normal Chef is not there on the weekends. The 2 cooks that were there on the weekend will maybe make the omelette in the oven instead of a frying pan. I said it needed to be made in the pan. When I arrive the servers were wonderful and went to speak to them and they refused to make the omelette in the pan. So I had to order a deconstructed thing which was made in the FRYING PAN. I am just so disappointed with the servers that did not notice the difference or the cooks that did not care about the inconstancy in the food. This is a restaurant. The whole point is making good food. When you pay $40 for breakfast you expect to get a good product. I am saddened as a home cook to see that the restaurant doesn't care about the constancy of the food and putting out a great product.

Our server hannah was not friendly and did not do her job at all the busser did it for her. i tipped her $0 yet i checked my bank account and hannah put $5 tip for me. because i bought pancakes and the skillet that has mushrooms. this service sucked to the max because the server never filled my water never gave me tabasco sauce when i asked her had to ask someone else. this was such an upsetting experiece that i probably wont come back. the busser did an exceptional job so i tipped him instead.

We sat outside on Tuesday morning. Only one other table of people who were finishing up. Waited 12 minutes for water. Got it with menus waited 15 minutes & finally went & asked if someone would come take out order. Food took another 17 minutes we split a skillet scramble & one order of bagel & lox. Never got any condiments, not even salt & pepper. No one ever came back & asked if we wanted anything. Got up to find our check & leave & no one had any idea we hadn’t paid or gotten our check even. The Beacon Restaurant is a beautiful newly decorated nautical setting with wonderful food and drinks. The tender loin sandwich and strawberry fields salad are exceptional. We went there with anticipation of ordering prime rib and ribeye. We were told they were out of prime rib and ribeye at 615pm on a Saturday? They open up at 4pm.. We ended up ordering 2 perch plates that did not include soup or salad or the bread. After we put our order in we were then told that the Chef said he could " find" a good piece of prime rib for one of our orders. Our group made a reservation for this past Saturday morning at 9am (8 of us)but due to a staffing crisis and other obstacles within they hadn’t had a chance to even check reservations prior to our arrival. Once we stepped up to the hostess desk we were greeted by a smiling Anna! She apologized sincerely and asked if we would possibly agree to be seated at the bar as the dining room was full. As we are an easy going, fun loving group this was no problem for us. However, I have felt the need to write this review simply based on Anna’s attitude and gracious service. She had us greeted, seated and served beverages in a matter of moments. As crazy as it was in the restaurant she never lost her smile or her composure. I was stuck in Port Washington waiting out bad weather on a sailboat, so I got to do a mini culinary tour of the town over a couple days, visiting 3 different restaurants. We visited The Beacon for brunch.

We walked in at 10:50 and were told that the kitchen was closed. I asked when it opens and they told us "in 10 minutes at 11:00". The staff seemed young and inexperienced so I helped them along and suggested we sit at the bar, have a drink, and get our food order in once the kitchen was ready (FYI, customers shouldn't be sorting out how to be sat and served).

Staff was friendly, bartender was a nice guy and thanked us for the business before we were served any drinks. Bloody Marys were good, and came with a beer side (the way it ought to be!). Bar area was modern and very clean. Excellent view of the harbor/lake from the bar seating.

Food was a trainwreck. I asked what the "house specialty" crab cake appetizer came with and was told it comes with "sauce", and that none of the service staff "had ever had it". So I rolled the dice and ordered the crab cake sandwich with a side of soup in hopes of something more substantial.

The crab cake was not good. It was clear that the oil it was pan fried in was not hot enough, so what I got was a crab cake SOAKED in oil. Not good. Professional cooks/chefs know this and I implore the kitchen staff here to "think about why you are doing what you are doing". As a "house specialty", this item should be prepared with expert precision and should be exceptional. Sad.

The seafood chowder soup was good, but I have a feeling that was brought in from their food supplier/vendor.

Other members of my crew had similarly bad experiences with the Tuna Melt (staff was asking what it was when it was brought out - they had never seen the item).

Nice folks working there, but this place needs some leadership. Staff should be well versed on menu items, and must taste all items on the menu before serving anyone. Line cooks must be supervised by a chef that ensures that execution and quality standards are met.

This place has potential as the location, atmosphere, and menu (on paper) are all very attractive. However when it was time to follow through, the food fell flat and was disappointing.

We were very disappointed with our food here. We did get it as carry out but we ate it right outside because we had brought our dog so it was not sitting or anything. We got the fried calamari, walleye and the fried perch. The walleye was good but that was the only part of our meal that was good. The calamari were very salty and just did not taste right in general. It did not look as good as the photo someone posted recently and certainly didn’t taste like I expected having read the associated review. The breading on the perch was heavy and dense and the fish were either dried out or the breading made it seem that way. Neither of us who got it could eat more than one of the pieces. The coleslaw was almost inedible and tasted terrible. The potatoes sides were mediocre. Service wise, there were things missing from our order that we had to go back for. Luckily we were right outside so that wasn’t a huge issue but if you’re taking home I would definitely double check your bag and order before you leave. It was at best a mediocre restaurant that we won’t be going back to even to try dine in. I would absolutely never recommend carry out here. It was really awful.

The soup was the best part of our dinner. I ordered a ribeye medium rare and it came out overcooked (medium well almost well done). I asked for it to be recooked since it was an expensive steak. The waitress came back and made an unprofessional comment that the chef said that this new steak will be rare because that’s how I’d want it. It was barely cooked. Apparently the chef thought I couldn’t tell what a medium rare steak should look like. The other person in my party ordered the walleye and it was full of bones. The waitress told us this was normal and bones were supposed to be in it (uh safety hazard??). Other than the unprofessional comments, bones in the fish, and improperly cooked steak, the food was bland and not seasoned. We will not be coming back here and do NOT recommend it to anyone.

Had breakfast today because the stay at the hotel included a 10% off coupon. Service was TERRIBLE!!!!!
We were seated and then ignored. 3 other tables came in and were given beverages and had their orders placed before we even had beverages. The only way we got beverages, which were incorrect, was because I had to stop a server and ask to be served. We received incorrect beverages but was never approached again until after everyone in the restaurant was served and yet again I had ask for our food. I was told there was “things going on” and a banquet downstairs. A breakfast banquet? Really?
When we received the corrected beverages we were told by the server we ordered the what we got beverages and we drank them. Which we had not drank them, the waitress had taken them away!!!! She was extremely rude in front of children.
The bill came $70+ dollars for 5 people. That included the 10% discount. Wow. Apparently the waitress took it upon herself to add a 20% gratuity. I questioned it and was told if you use the coupon you are charged 20% gratuity. I asked her to show me where that was stated but she couldn’t. She continued to argue with me so we removed the children from the room due to her extremely offensive attitude. I asked for a manager and the server left without returning. I had to go to the front desk of the hotel only to be told there was NO manager anywhere in the hotel for the next 3 days.
Finally a sales person came to the front desk. She took the bill and stated they would figure out what to do with it.
I offered the cash to pay for my food but was not paying for the extremely bad service and attitude we received.
I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Service is terrible, food is nothing special and they are overpriced for what you receive.

Tasty breakfasts. Bagel and lox is a nice quick breakfast and the raspberry donut holes are great w/ coffee while looking out over the harbor and Coal Dock Park. Service is super too!

Absolutely love this bar, the calamari is amazing the drinks are great, but the real shinning star here is Chuck. He is quite frankly the only reason why we continue to stay at the hotel and come into the bar. He has personality plus and he is hilarious. If you have not gotten the pleasure to meet this amazing human treat yourself and go to the beacon. I have said it a million times and i will say it again, CHUCK NEEDS HIS OWN HOUR SECTION On the website as well as google. 😁 the calamari is absolutely great as well, some of the best I’ve had.

I just had an amazing dinner at the Beacon resturant at Harborview.
The food was amazing and the service was excellent.

Best part was Chuck the bartender who is sociable and really friendly guy....

Dining rm toooo NOISY, could not chew the corned beef, said meat was cut wrong. Guess what....then don't serve it on a sandwich. Get a new chef. Nothing was worth the price

Just recently reopened after a lengthy shutdown and complete rebuild. The staff and speed of service were below average but being so new, we allowed some grace. The full height, wrap around windows give you some unbelievable views.

We enjoyed the breakfast, solid menu and good quality ingredients. We were told lunch and dinner menus would be added in the near future.
