The perfect venue — our guests are still talking about it!

The Barn at the Bog was everything we hoped for and more. The staff was amazing. The venue itself is "cool" and original. We had at least a dozen guests tell us it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. It truly set the stage for an unforgettable day. Beautiful setting for both the outdoor ceremony and photos. Highly recommend.

I'd give it a 5 if not for grounds crew showing up on our first 4 holes. Why not work backwards from 18 then you wouldn't follow any 4 some. The course in very good shape.

Great course. Very challenging greens
Pace of play is intolerable
Played yesterday. Pace was 5 1/2 hours. Every time I play there it’s at least 5 hours 15 minutes. 2 groups waiting on every tee box We asked for a ranger and the answer was there are no gaps !!! Maybe keep the front groups moving and the later groups will follow ! If you have all day to play , great course
It will be some time before I play there again

Weather was brutally hot. Impacted play but not their score.
Very friendly staff. Outstanding.
Course was tough with lots of blind shots. The fairways were almost always in great shape. The rough was not overly penalizing.
Greens were fast but consistent.

Big room for improvement were the carts. GPS was a huge value add. We respected the signage for there carts were allowed.
However the signage did not line up consistently with their carts shutting down for going where not allowed. Wasn't a one time event. Ended up going from annoying to a running joke.

The Bog: Over Rated and Expensive. My sons and I played for our first time this past weekend. We were not impressed with what we paid. We expected a pristine course but encountered too many weeds around the green. Ozaukee County courses are priced much much better and in better condition.

Attended a wedding here. Lovely property with good staff. The views were stunning at sunset on the golf course. Great for photo moments. Only negative is that the bugs were overwhelming once the sun went down and everyone rushed inside.

From start to finish the employees at this course were absolutely amazing! The fairways to the greens were very WELL KEPT UP, but the beverage cart girls, were truly tremendous. I couldnt ask for a better experience, i golf over 60 rounds a year all over the United States, this truly was my favorite experience this year. Thank You employees of THE BOG for the GREAT DAY! ,

Wonderful golf course. Everything from the moment we walked up to the moment we left was a great experience. The course was in great shape and beyond beautiful. We had a group of 8 and was done within 4 hours on a Saturday morning. I wish I lived closer to play here more frequently.

Played the Bog yesterday 5/18/2025. The round started off with hitting the range, off of a mat that you couldn’t put a tee in the hit your driver. The tee boxes were littered with broken tees, greens were covered with ball marks and dead spots, sand traps looked like they weren’t groomed for weeks, fairway landing areas looked like a plowed field as nobody seems to replace divots or fill with the sand provided! With the twilight rate of $90 you would think the course would be immaculate, but it’s not. Obviously they opened to the public to get more revenue, but they certainly are not using it for maintenance! No cart girl, the shack at the turn was closed when we got to the turn! Played the Bull a week ago and it blew the bog out of the water as far as condition and overall experience! Twilight at the Bull starts at 1:30 not 3:00 at the Bog! Not going back to the Big anytime soon!

Incredible wedding experience - from day one to the day of, the staff and service at the Bog was phenomenal. Everyone was highly professional and kind - Mike, Brittany, Lilly and the whole team is top tier.

We got so many compliments on the beautiful venue and the reception as a whole.

The ceremony site was a great spot for the wedding. The Barn location and venue was beautiful inside and out. A very photogenic venue!

If I could do it all over I’d change nothing. Everything was phenomenal.

I’d like to preface my review with the fact that I tried to give them a second chance given the circumstances of the first visit.

I played the Bog on Labor Day for the first time. I brought my folks and my wife out. I called ahead to ensure my wife, who is unable to play, could ride along to enjoy the beautiful weather with family. This was no issue, which is great because most other course charge a fee or don’t allow it.

Arriving at The Bog, it’s almost like Field of Dreams but for Golf. The scenery is stunning. Beautiful range off of the driveway, laden with large stones, great clubhouse, we thought it was going to be a great day. We checked in, got our carts, geared up, and drove over to the practice area. Hit a few balls, some putts, and waited with the starter (Rik) until our tee time. Honestly, up until tee time, there was zero issues here. Where we encountered our problems is with cart maintenance, and overall rate of play.

**I get it, it’s Labor Day, but come on…**

We got stuck around the 4th hole behind a ROUGH foursome, taking shots of fireball on the greens while we’re waiting to tee off, total disregard for other groups, what a mess. 9 holes took 2 hours and 45 minutes. The back 9 took 3 hours and 15 minutes. That’s a 6 hour 18-hole track. SIX FREAKING HOURS! (I have played Pinehurst #2 with a caddy in less than 6 hours.)

The GPS on the cart has the ability to call for a ranger. We called multiple times to get someone out to speed it up… no answer. Then, on 16, our cart starts to die. We called multiple times and yet, no answer. We had to use one cart to push the other, just to get back to the clubhouse.

When we got back, I went up to the cart guy, told him to go inside and get me a business card for the GM - he looked at me as if I had just spoke Mandarin. He finally trudges inside and comes back with another guy, Diego. He asks what’s wrong. I tell him we just finished a 6-hour round, as a threesome, and that doesn’t seem to phase him. I gave him my business card and asked him to have the GM give me a call, which he never did.

Fast-forward to yesterday, 9/26.
I decided to give The Bog one last chance, thinking a weekday afternoon might be a better time.

Rate of Play was, yet again, atrocious. Five hours and fifteen minutes, stuck behind “golfers” that doinked worm-burner after worm-burner, hole in and hole out. And still, not a single ranger the whole round. And we had cart trouble again. This time, noticed on the 2nd hole, we pinged the shop for help, and no answer. Finally, I called in from my cell, and the kid says, “yeah, we saw your message.”

If you saw it, why didn’t you do something about it?!

After 18, we thought we’d grab a bit to eat. This is the nail in the coffin. The three of us sat at the bar. We ordered Steak Frites, a Turkey Club, and an Angus Burger. While we waited for the food, the bartender kept us engaged in conversation (the only highlight from yesterday - she was terrific. Can’t remember her name, but she was a UWM student, really great). The food comes out and the steak (ordered medium) comes out cold. Not lukewarm but COLD. It takes a really terrible chef to send a steak out cold. My five-year old helps me make steaks on the grill at home… just saying.

Overall, The Bog has potential. Great track. Gorgeous surrounding area, tight lines, and great condition. But, the management is non-existent, and it’s really quite a shame. For $105+/person, I’ll take my money elsewhere. If they aren’t willing to correct some of these issues, I’m not sure how long they’ll be able to keep the lights on. For both instances in the last month, they’re more of a $50/person course, like a Milwaukee Park District.

For example, I played Lac La Belle last weekend ($150/person) rangers on the course, rate of play was AWESOME and regulated to boot. Had no issue with the cost for that 4 hour round.

The Bog did an amazing job with our wedding reception! Brittany was amazing to work with leading up to our big day, and the rest of their events team covered everything so well on the day of. Our guests loved the bartenders, the brisket and barbecue chicken turned out great, and the serving staff handled all of the kids meals and dietary restrictions very well. Overall, they were very accommodating to our requests and had so many great spots to take pictures.

When my daughter told me they booked The Bog for their wedding, I thought "That's supposed to be a pretty nice place". I Was WRONG
While it was beautiful, that's about all they had going for them.
First, there was suppose to be 2 tables and a tabletop easel, there was only one table set up. It took about an hour for someone to put the other things in place. And with only 2 1/2hours to work with, that didn't leave a whole lot of time to get ready.
The head table was set up wrong with extra place settings. Plus there was old food on the floor that they had to kick under the table so no one would know. Did anybody even sweep or vacuum from the night before?
I, myself, had to go out to the patio to clear off the tables that had beer cans, water bottles, glasses and trash covering them.
I had to find someone to sweep off the concrete walkway so the bride wouldn't be dragging her train through the dirt, ashes and debris. The bridal party had to actually move a patio table that was blocking the walkway even though we had discussed that the night before at the rehearsal.
Cocktail hour was supposed to be on the patio along with the DJ, lawn games (giant jenga,, corn hole) all of that didn't happen. No games in sight, no bartenders at the bar and to top it all off, somebody messed with the DJ's speakers.
There seemed to be no one in charge of anything and the staff were clueless.
Bride and groom were told there would be 2 golf carts to take the wedding party out for pictures. Only 1 cart was available so they could only take the bride and groom and photographer. So much for pictures.
Food was sub-par. While the beef was good, the chicken was dry and the salmon was fishy. Let's not forget the rock hard dinner rolls that you couldn't even cut into.
After dinner I had to go into the kitchen to find someone to remove the tables off the dance floor so the band could start playing.
Then I was asked to express my complaints in the back room only to discover I had missed the first dance. I'll never get that back
While there were 2 bartenders on duty, they were found hiding in the back. Someone had to knock on the side door to get them out.
I found out the next day from a guest that their bar bill had a ridiculous service charge. What service?!! Outrageous!!
There was supposed to be snacks put out at 9:30. That didn't happen either.
We overheard some staff saying the only reason the bride was being difficult was because she was drunk when, in fact , she didn't have a drop to drink.
And at end of the night, the cake knife went missing.
Unless you care to have such a fiasco happen to you , steer clear.

Awesome course with amenities. Grand clubhouse, nice pro shop even with a simulator, and bar area. Course was in great shape. Very fast and hard greens that were difficult to roll. Many elevated greens, dog legs, and challenges to test your game. Many teeboxes to choose from based on your skill. The green fees are in a spot that you pay for what you get but aim for the early bird rates and it's a good price for this course. Driving range included for those playing for warm up. The staff were awesome. The list just goes on for this course that lives up to the reputation I've heard about. You will not be disappointed playing here.

This review is for our wedding day in the Clubhouse (not the Barn) on June 15th, 2024. It will include our experiences from initial tour through the wedding day. Please keep in mind that this is entirely anecdotal, so feel free take our experience as you will. This is purely for the consideration a future couples looking into The Bogs' Clubhouse as a venue.

PROS:
- Beautiful scenery
- Great aesthetic
- Decent amount of space
- Food was good
- Price fit our modest budget
- Fire pit is great
- Lilly and Caroline were particularly awesome!

CONS:
- Owner had us tour the barn despite us telling them we weren't interested in it. Not sure if it was a hard sell attempt, or if the event assistant didn't let him know.
- We had to communicate with 4 different staff/event assistants--the first quit or got fired, the second left on maternity leave, the third is more of a GM, and the fourth is a catering person. It was confusing.
- One of the event assistants accidentally sent us the entire wedding itinerary of another couple. We saw everything they paid for.
- They didn't landscape the ceremony area as promised, except for a few very small, barely-bloomed flowers. The area was left as an expanse of sun-baked, old, grey mulch with some weeds. This was truly upsetting because that is not even close to what is depicted on their website. This is the area that a couple stands during the ceremony, so our family had to troubleshoot this massive judgement lapse by putting in our own flower pots to cover the god-awful looking area.
- We didn't speak to any management during our entire event, only a handful of very young and overwhelmed girls.
- On our wedding day, they didn't set up chairs for the ceremony or remove golfers from the clubhouse bar until roughly 30-45min before our ceremony started. This resulted in our photographer having to flag down someone to get the chairs, as well as my own mother kicking out golfers in front of Bog staff.
- Some of the staff removed the DJs speakers from outside right after the ceremony, resulting in him not being able to dismiss the guests to cocktail hour.
- We asked for their yard games, and were told they would be set up for us. On the ceremony day, Cornhole was not setup and giant jenga was at the Barn--which had its own set of games. We had to flag down staff to go get the games, as our guests had already arrived.
- They didn't clean the outdoor patio tables before our guests arrived.
- There was a wedding at the barn the same time as ours, and it appears that Bog staff/management will overtly favor that venue without a second thought.
- We overheard some staff saying that they didn't realize there was a wedding in the clubhouse that day.
- Food was served buffet style, but we had some veggie and kids plates. They initially forgot to serve these or were very delayed in serving them (parents had gotten their food and nearly finished it by the time kids food was served). I had to literally walk into their kitchen to check in about this.
- Management allowed us to use a conference room to store stuff for the wedding. They then proceeded to pile chairs in there, which blocked access to all of our stuff. My aunt literally had to crawl over chairs and the table to get to what was needed.
- Their credit card readers didn't work, causing delays for guests ordering drinks because staff had to manually enter in card info.

FEEDBACK FOR THE BOG:
- Don't offer the clubhouse as a venue if you don't care enough to assist with a wedding event there.
- Improve communication between management and the staff so that staff are not thrown into the deep end.
- Put effort into cleaning up and landscaping.

Food for a wedding was not properly served or prepared. Brussel Sprouts were hard as rocks, salads were microscopic and staff did not read the placecards which had dietary restrictions on them. Staff was slow and acted like they didn't know what they were doing and had never served before. If I were they bride and groom, I would be pissed at the food & service for the price that paid. First time at "The Bog" and it was very nice.
Challenging, but I thought the fairways were more open then I thought they would be. One thing I had trouble with, the carts were not allowed near the approaches and some holes were farther away then others.
Sometimes, you could get close to your ball, but the cart would shut the forward down, and only allow very slow reverse.
My partner has a bad leg, so I tried to get to his ball as close as I could. We will take that in consideration next time.

My husband played this course the other day. Andy was very rude, disrespectful and unprofessional to my husband. He threatened to kick him off the course for parking in the wrong parking lot and bringing a water and powerade to the course. My husband is on medication which causes severe dehydration. No need to be insulting and rude if you are supposed to be the head of golf. Id encourage players to play elsewhere to avoid this person. I'd welcome a call from the owner to discuss further.

What a fall from grace.

To begin with, I got married at the barn in 2020, and I am a big fan of the property as a whole. The wedding was fantastic and the venue was top tier.

With that being said, the golf course has gone to absolute garbage. The course was so dry and brown I thought we were in Arizona in August. You want a good tee box? Too bad, not here. This course used to be one of my favorite in the state. Now I would play Hawthorne Hills (trash) or Mee-Kwon (also trash) for half the price and have a comparable experience. $100+ for a round at The Bog? Go play The Bull for $125 and an extra 30 minute drive and play on a course worth that price. Or save $30 and play Fire Ridge, which is in comparable shape, which is embarassing. Shame on The Bog for letting such a beautiful course go to absolute 🗑.

Management should be ashamed. Two stars because one star is reserved for courses like Blackstone. Thats the level The Bog has dropped to.

We rotate between golf courses during the summer playing the front 9 the first week and the back 9 the following week. I looked forward to the Bog. I had not played it before, but heard nice things. On our front nine we were behind a group of 6 and we're waiting at every tee for them to finish putting. Course was nice. Play was slow. And then there are the carts. The one on the 1st week had no gps so it randomly stopped and had to be backed up. When I went to get my clubs from the bag dop, the cart died. When on the course, leaving the fairway at a 90 degree, the cart died. While I understand the need to be vigilant about the course, I also realize that people will not come back if the measures of vigilance are too severe. We will not be back.

Writing this review while I wait for slow play on the 18th tee. Nice course, seemingly going down hill. As a former assistant Superintendent on an average course, it’s pretty evident whoever is in charge of spraying is doing a lack luster job, and I imagine that same person is in charge of aeration. In any case, course needs water badly and it’s only May in WI, not ideal. Whoever is cutting pins has high/low plugs on lock. Ranger sent us out behind the group that was supposed to be 20 minutes behind us, because he forgot what time it was and which groups had gone out. For a course that’s as historically well run and nice as the Bog, this was a surprise. They will however run out a free “tap beer” ticket to makeup for that extra hour on the course, lol. Don’t let this review stop you from coming and playing here because at its core it’s one of the coolest and creative courses around at a reasonable rate, with generally decent pace of play. This is my 10-15th round here in a few years, and unfortunately things as of lately seem to be going in the wrong direction.

Still absolutely worth coming out if not for at least one round.

Dined on a Friday night with 2 other ladies. Food was good as usual but my coconut shrimp was definitely not coconut. Mentioned it to my young waitress who said she wasn't involved in making the food. I thought she would pass it on to the kitchen staff. Asked her later if she had and she said no. I told her the chef should know that so it can be corrected. Both my dining companions agreed there was no coconut after trying it. I'll be back as we always have tasty dinners there.

I have called 4 different times this summer to make reservations for their Friday night fish fry and I was told 4 times that the fish fry wasn't happening because of a "private party". Either have a Friday night fish fry like you advertise or discontinue them.

Toughest golf corse i have ever played.
It was in excellent shape and greens were consistent. Bring your A game as this will challenge anyone.
We had fun and i will be back here to play again. Just a beautiful golf course.

We were here for a wedding at the Barn, very cute and had a nice atmosphere. The fireplace was a great touch. Place was clean and set up very well. Staff was fairly friendly and did well with the event.

I performed a wedding reception there a couple weeks ago. The space was beautiful! The workers were most helpful. And the bride and groom seemed very pleased with their big day! The only setback was that temperature control kept the place a little warmer than I would prefer. But nonetheless, it is an exceptional venue to host your wedding or event of any kind! You will not be disappointed after working with them!

Tee boxes all around could use some work and some greens on the front were patchy. Very difficult course but fun the play. I think there is a blind shot on just about every hole.
Would play again.

Wedding review: BEAUTIFUL! We are so happy with our location! We loved the idea of having our wedding at a barn and the fact we found one on a golf course too, just so happy! The venue was so beautiful that we did not have to decorate much! The direct person we worked with was very kind and responsive to all emails. The day of was amazing! They were busy with our wedding and a golf outing but still on top of everything! All staff that helped were extremely professional. No complaints! They also have a private on site ceremony site!

I really wanted to like this course. Sadly, Greens had bald spots on almost every hole. Also some greens had noticeable wear and tear as it did not seem divots were repaired. Unfortunately, tee boxes were in very rough shape as well. It is an okay course but not worth more than $70. Very disappointed.
