Fruit flies were attacking me and my food! They were flying into my eyes and nose, it was really gross, I ordered the roasted beet and apple salad, with smoked salmon on the side. Most of the salad was Brussels sprouts- which were not mentioned in the ingredient list. The beets were cool and rather difficult to chew, so it was a disappointing meal. As soon as I stopped eating, my plate was over run with fruit flies.

We had been looking forward to trying The Buzz for quite some time, and after a full day of great stops in Kenosha, we made this our last destination before heading home. Unfortunately, it ended on a disappointing note.

When we first walked in (Saturday afternoon around 2 PM), I was excited to check it out, I often blog about coffee shops and highlight what makes them unique. I asked the barista where they sourced their beans from, and she responded that they came from Milwaukee and were made special for The Buzz. I thought that was really interesting, but she offered no further detail. If I worked somewhere with beans roasted exclusively for our shop, I’d be eager to share more about them, maybe even encourage customers to visit the roaster.

I then asked her what their most popular drink was, because that’s what I wanted to try. Instead of answering, she simply pointed me to the specials board and their regular menu. While that’s helpful, it didn’t answer my actual question about their best-selling drink, the one customers rave about and keep coming back for.

The biggest disappointment was the service. Rather than welcoming or enthusiastic, the barista came across as dismissive and uninterested. As someone who has worked in coffee before, I know the excitement of telling customers about a café’s signature drinks or unique features. Here, I felt unwelcome and brushed off.

It’s a shame, because the shop itself has potential, but the lack of hospitality really soured the experience. Service and passion are just as important as the coffee, and sadly, The Buzz missed the mark for us.

We waited 50 minutes for our food after ordering, and there was no communication from staff regarding the delay. When I asked about the wait, the response I received was, “Next time you can come find a manager and tell them,” which implied it was my responsibility as the customer to report service issues in real time. This approach felt dismissive and unprofessional.

This morning I was “running early” but forgot to eat breakfast, so I stopped in at the buzz, and ordered a Cali Wrap (no bacon) and it is so sincerely delicious. The Swiss/Avocado/Aioli combination is a perfect “treat yourself” moment. It’s a full size wrap, so next time I would ask to have it cut in half.

The coffees were good, but not the food. ingredients on the Turkey Melt were poorly distributed, so every bite was a very strong flavor of one ingredient (eg, mustard) and turkey, rather than a little of each. This use to be my favorite place in the whole world, I’d come everyday in the summer for 4+ years but it fell off hard after the last of the OG staff left, Lexi, i’ve ordered multiple disappointing drinks and food menu items since TRYING to give it the benefit of the doubt in hopes it would come back but the buzz I knew and loved is dead, every drink now tastes like it’s made by a bunch of high schoolers, I was willing to forgive the watered down milky matchas and chais but after they changed their cider, my favorite drink of theirs, to Indian Summers (basically just apple juice- it’s not unfiltered/ opaque), and got ride of the charcoal detox drinks this place lost it’s redeeming qualities. This is a really cute spot in downtown Kenosha not far from the courthouse. It has that great rustic feel that so many coffee shops are going for. My sandwich was also very flavorful and well done. The problem, is that I ended up spending close to $20 for a very small Panini and a soda. The prices, while maybe defensible in a Chicago market, just can't be justified on this side of the border. If price was not an issue, I'd easily give it five stars. But I wasn't really full after my lunch and I don't really know why I paid $20 for what I paid for. Maybe The vibes?

I had a disappointing experience at The Buzz Cafe. The service was poor; the person at the register made me wait to take my order and refused to bring my meal to the table once it was done. I observed that other customers, both before and after me, were served promptly, and their food was brought to their tables. As the only person of color in the establishment, I felt I was treated differently. While I can't say for certain if it was due to racism, it certainly felt that way. I will not be returning.

Excellent coffee and espresso drinks. Their syrups are made in house so the drinks are wonderful. My favorite specialty lattes are are the French toast latte and the blueberry lavender latte.
Very friendly staff as well. The breakfast burrito didn’t have much flavor, and I didn’t realize it was vegetarian when I ordered it. But the coffee was the best in town!

When we lived in Kenosha, The Buzz would have gotten 5 stars across the board. We loved going there once, twice, even three times a week. The wait and kitchen staff were always super friendly and we built relationships with them. Now, we don’t live in Kenosha, when we come to town, we stop by to get that atmosphere we fell in love with. Well that atmosphere is gone, the staff we built relationships with are gone. We don’t recognize a single face. We stopped in for lunch, when we walked in, we got nothing, no greeting, two people behind the counter made eye contact and said nothing. We sat at the bar (where we had always sat for eating in) after a few minutes the girl with red hair and glasses came by, gave us menus, that’s it. In the past we got menus, waters, the specials, some friendly small talk, and took a drink order. Today we got none of that. She gave us the menus and left us. 20 minutes went by with no new customers, the staff was preoccupied with conversation amongst themselves. No service. So we walked out. The Buzz used to be really wholesome and pleasant, with the staff turnover that’s occurred that wholesome and pleasantness is gone. 2/10 I’m no longer recommending

Staff is always friendly when you go in and very helpful with any questions. They do provide high chairs, it is kid friendly, but just remember it is a coffee shop and not lots of space for them to move around and play. Great location with an extensive menu and plenty of food options for both breakfast and lunch. I ordered a latte and it was top notch. My experience was limited to working for a couple of hours in the store. There are plenty of tables to sit and work or grab a coffee with a friend. In town for training and visited this place for Lunch. This place is a wonderful and welcomed surprise because I am vegan and have only been able to play with safe with salads whenever I go out of town (except TX). I ordered a cup of vegan veggie soup and their chickpea salad sandwich. Delicious! Lots of flavor and savory (which was absent at other restaurants in town with vegan options). The place is cozy with a little couch in the back and relaxing music in the background. Omnivore (meat and veggie) options for my buddy, gluten free options, fresh ingredients, desserts (Omnivore) cute merch as well as coffee, tea, alcoholic and non alcoholic wines and cooler options ... I found my mecca in WI🤣. Even recommended to the manager at our hotel, The Stella, that she mention it to guests as a place to dine for breakfast as well. The Buzz has gone down hill dramatically over the past year. They completely ruined two drinks over our past two visits, both times serving just steamed, frothed milk. Ordering food is a risk because it can take anywhere between 5 minutes to 1 hour and they won’t let you know in advance if their kitchen is behind. Cons: I'm so sad the buffalo chicken wrap is off the new menu bc it was GOOD! Service is cold and heartless at times, prices are high (esp if you sub milks). I don't love the coffee/espresso plain, but mixed with flavors and sugar it gets it done. Isolated incident, today this weirdo got a headache from the raw onions that were in a wrap. We had an absolutely wonderful experience here! Our bartender and servers were outstanding; when we explained that we were in from out of town, they gave us the rundown on all the things we might be interested in doing nearby. The food was fresh and delicious, and I would be remiss not to mention the Queen's Brew'd from The Hive Taproom - it will legitimately blow your mind. We'll absolutely be back soon!

Staff was very rude and unwelcoming. They did not even tell me my drink was ready and I was sitting there for a good 10 minutes looking dumb while they’re staring at me. Was my first time in so I didn’t know where to go. Won’t be back

Nice beer brewed in Wisconsin. Strawberry field salad 1/2 size was nice. I ordered it knowing it was on the sweet side. If you are not into sweet salad there are other healthy options.

I just finished my turkey sandwich & chicken and wild rice. It was delicious! I'm gluten-free so delicious food is not always accessible. I'm so happy I stopped in here. I would definitely come again.
