Guatemala 'light' roast V60 pourover was very smooth and balanced. Black. No fat or sugar.
A decent Friday retired crowd in a boutiqu-esque food and beverage shop. One of the, if not the first specialty coffee shop in Eau Claire / Chippewa Valley.

Great coffee, great food and relaxing atmosphere. I have been here a few times and it’s been great every time. Worth the stop! Breakfast burrito was delicious. And their cinnamon swirl latte (special of the day) was so good!

Wonderful and unusual breakfast offerings, Accompanied by good coffee. However, how can you offer a breakfast featuring a classic biscuits and milk gravy without Tabasco sauce? A sacrilege!! A tiny cup of Aoli was offered, but Aoli is not Tabasco!

Great coffee shop, a huge variety of fresh roasted coffee. Beautiful coffee machine. You can grind your coffee here. They also have a lot of delicious cheeses, wines and other good stuff. Thanks to Ryan! ☕️

Took 15 minutes to get the coffee we ordered, meanwhile people who came after us were getting theirs quicker. They seem to do orders for their regulars first.. there was 2 older people hovering the counter, and of course they were taking to the barista who did their orders first. Did not have a welcoming feeling, we were in there before anyone else and yet we waited the longest for a coffee that took them under a minute to make.

Very nice coffee shop that’s part of a little store. They make delicious smoothies. I highly recommend the house-made wild rice burger. 😋 Fries were really good, too.
We also snagged some THC seltzers and a delicious looking loaf of sourdough break with garlic and olives. And it’s not far off the highway on our way to Chicago.
Plenty of space to sit indoor and a little patio out back.

I’ve been a customer of this establishment for over 20 years, when it was still in its former location
Always a good stop for specialty goods and used to visit K Point when they were here also.
Thank you to Coffee Grounds for supporting my organization. Been stopping in every week and this week enjoyed a black Americano

First time visiting yesterday. We’re from the Viroqua area and I guess maybe we’re just spoiled with Wonderstate Coffee. Got a large hot mocha, just tasted like luke warm chocolate water. Wasn’t very impressed. Next time I’m in EC I’ll just try a different coffee place. Coffee was horrendous but gave 2 stars because atmosphere seems pretty cool, nice and open with lots to offer.

This is a late review from 2024.
Ordered a Bagel with cream cheese and salmon. Toasted. Exactly how I placed my order. Very Specific.
Was given the Bagel, cream cheese, salmon, tomato, onion and cucumber sandwich. Left and returned right away realizing I didn't get what I ordered. I wasn't nice when I returned, I wasn't completely freaking out since it was just a mistake. I had an attitude. They scraped off the extra bits and handed it back to me with a comment, "Next time read the menu". That's when I had more than just an attitude.
Imagine if you had good service and people who knew how to listen while being paid to be at work. I've never stopped bad mouthing this place since that day. Still makes me laugh.

Unfortunate experience today. I bought one of the packaged foods for about five or six dollars. And I was really looking forward to it.
Unfortunately, the food was not edible. I took it back to the counter, and I asked them about it. And I told them that it wasn’t very good and is was not edible.
The lady behind the counter, laughed and agreed with me. She said that they’re not good!
So I asked to just exchange it for a free coffee. Which I thought would be a quick, yes! If I was in a customer service position, I would have definitely just given the free coffee which basically costs nothing to produce.
After speaking with the manager, they offered me a small coffee. I thought this was horrible customer service.
Also, it’s the staff think the food is gross… Why even keep it on the shelf?

The sandwich we ordered did not match what menu stated. There was no cheese on the turkey club and no pickle accompanied the sandwich. We were not given a bread choice. It tasted good, but not as described. Twenty minutes to receive the sandwich. We also attempted to use the Venture Wisconsin passport for coffee. The passport clearly states it can be used on two coffees in one visit for the 50% off, but the girl at counter would only allow one per visit. Left feeling very underwhelmed.

This store is a real treat when I get to town! They had their annual Wicked Wine event and we had a blast! Fun folks hanging out tasting wine, bourbons, and other delicious spirits. They offered so many options, it rivals some big beverage stores! Also, the kitchen gadget section, snacks and cheeses sections were impressive. This is a must stop at when we return to Eau Claire! Thank you for a great time!
PS: The attached brewery pub (Modicum Brewery) in the back is an awesome place to stop, if some of your group is still shopping, and you want to grab a pint and chill.

From outta town, flew in for a wedding. Was just looking for a decent breakfast place so I chose this one. Food was basic but flavorful and well cooked. Lots of coffee and tea options. The amount of local goods (and commercial) that they sell though is amazing! Wish I had more time to spend more money lol Jams, wines, honey, spices, misc. food goods, the list goes on. Lots of local/Wisconsin made items, all reasonably priced. 10/10 would visit again and I already told all my Wisconsin friends to visit the next time they're in Eau Claire

I love Coffee Grounds! Whether you're there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, a company or organization gathering, or just to chat with a friend, Coffee Grounds had it all!
Great local finds, fresh baked goods and coffee, and an atmosphere that allows for great comfort and conversation.
Great bourbon and wine selection and not too mention Modicum Brewing shares the space for those craft brew fans. You can also get pours of some the more popular bourbons in the Modicum Brewing side.

Do not eat fried eggs here. My over easy eggs were hard. The bacon was all but burnt. i’m imagining that their scrambled eggs are also way overcooked and hard. However, the fresh green salad with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, and homemade dressing was really good. Crispy well cleaned and flavorful. it’s Monday and my go to breakfast places in Eau Claire were closed. I am told by my friends that the Friday fish fry is excellent however, I have not tried it.
It occurs to me that for the price of the food they should have cooks that are trained. Not just sandwich and salad making employees.I won’t be back for breakfast.

A swing, and a partial miss. Coffee beans are over-roasted and bitter but slightly better than average. Here's a hint for the roaster(s), Ethiopian beans from Yirgacheffe should get a lighter touch to bring out the full bouquet, which means when they are ground you will see lots of the light colored hulls in your grind. This means more of the floral and fruity notes can be tasted. This particular roast was almost flavorless besides the bitter acidity, honestly not much better than Folgers. Food served is also slightly above average for similar shops, everything was tasty. Good selection of retail items at average-slightly high prices. Fantastic selection of spirits. One staff member seemed clueless as to what a service dog is, but there always seems to be at least one and she wandered off when I politely told her we had a legitimate service dog that is legally allowed wherever I go. All in all, a decent little place and most people seem to like bitter, over-roasted coffee anyway or S-bucks wouldn't be so dang successful.

As I have experienced it, Coffee Grounds is a cute and well-done combination of café, deli, and wine shop.
There’s a nice selection of cooking curios, cheeses, and other delicatessen staples, a generous selection of wines and other alcoholic beverages. It all *feels* local, but I’m not sure how local the wares actually are. Regardless, there’s lots of interesting wares to look at and browse while waiting for food or friends.
At the counter, there are café staples: coffees, espressos, hot chocolate, teas, muffins, scones, and so on. They also have a menu of breakfast entrees like oatmeal, eggs, and so on. While it was delicious, my breakfast entree was $10–11 for not much food—a bit expensive by my measure. I would have rather paid less for that portion size or gotten a larger portion size for what I paid. I suppose it’s more expensive because they don’t have the economy of scale that a dedicated restaurant would have.
This is my go-to coffee shop for getting work done when I’m in Eau Claire. It has free, unsecured wifi (no password required, either). On weekends, it’s usually pretty quiet around opening time and then for an hour or two. Last time I was there, the music was a little too rambunctious for optimal work, but I tend to be sensitive to that.
There are tables outside (behind the building) for those who want to bring a furry friend or just be outside! I don’t think they had a “doggy station” or trash bin for throwing away doggie bags (not that they need to; just remember to bring one if needed).
The bathrooms have always been very clean.
The staff has always been friendly. They’re short-staffed right now, so wait times are longer for food orders and they may have slightly reduced hours. (I hope they’re okay!)
There’s a back room with a semi-closed door I peeked in. The room looked like a brewery or distillery pub room. I’m very curious, but have never seen it occupied. I can see it being used for special events like catered company dinners, wedding receptions, and so on.
Compared to other coffee shops, I recommend the Coffee Grounds for meeting people, for catching up with friends, bringing out-of-town guests, going to get work done, or want to browse. It’s less busy/bustling than many breakfast places, so it’s excellent for getting work done.

Love coming here whenever I'm in EC. Best craft beer selection, hands down. I am always finding new breweries and rare beer, which makes it a must stop.
The food is delicious, definitely take time to grab some and some coffee if you have time.
Great place to shop too, especially for Christmas time... lots of gift ideas for a variety of people you may want to buy for.

Stopped in by chance, best coffee I have had on a long road trip from Boston. A cortado was not on the menu but they made a perfect one with freshly roasted beans. Delicious!

I love the Coffee Grounds, it is a wonderful place to find nice items for your kitchen, high end liquor, and great food and coffee.
