It’s Friday. OUT OF FISH! Dinner was delicious but we went out for fish. It was only 5:00! How do you not have fish and oh by the way NO ENTREES. All in all food was very good, drinks were great and wait staff was good. Hot fried chicken sandwich, salmon salad, pork tacos and shrimp tacos all very tasty. Hope they can stay in business.

We arrived on a Friday night. It was busy. We were attended to right away. Ordered an Outside the Wake cocktail. It was delicious. The maple candied pork belly bites were phenomenal. Had a traditional smash burger and a grilled chicken sandwich. Both were very good.
Our server Paige was attentive and made positive suggestions. The stars, however, were the bartenders-or should I say mixologists. Watching them make drinks was like watching an artist at work. They know how to make a perfectly balanced drink. A drink for grown ups.

Courtney made our experience next level. We came in with a party of 20 which we know can be a wild situation at a restaurant at 6 pm. I came here last year and absolutely loved it. Came back this year and was really disappointed. Online via the QR code on the menu there was an option for a Ribeye, in person they didn’t have it available on the menu. We ordered cheese curds, our food was delivered first and our server seemed shocked we hadn’t gotten them yet. It seems like she forgot to put the order in. We also asked for water and our server offered to bring us a pitcher but then she forgot. I got the Mint classic burger, it was really tasty! The people I was with got the Grilled chicken sandwich; they loved it. The tater tots were ok, just basic frozen tater tots that are fried. When the cheese curds were finally delivered they were pretty good, fresh and hot. Overall just disappointed by the service.

This is our second trip. We highly recommend the Airline chicken (the person who ate it, ate every bit). The pork chop was so tasty (but does deserve a larger plate). The fish fry was not heavily breaded letting the fish shine. The shrimp skewers were seasoned just right. We had those twice.

​What really made our night, however, was our server, Courtney. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Her excellent service added so much to our dining experience. We highly recommend The Craftsman American Tavern for a great meal and friendly service!

Beautiful place. Unfortunately our food was lackluster. Dry unseasoned pulled pork. Pork belly appetizer was dripping grease making it inedible. Kids Mac was Kraft dinner. Kids fries were barely cooked through. The waiter we had was nice enough until it came time for us to pay when we found out they will not split your bill. Told by management that it costs the restaurant too much money as it was to run cards. For our party of 5 adults and 3 children our meal came to just shy of $200. For the money spent I do not see returning for food. The drink menu looked amazing so maybe we will try again for a cocktail down the road.

We were looking forward to this restaurant the most on this vacation and ended having the biggest let down.
There was a 25-30min wait which wasnt an issue, we walked around downtown until we got a call that our table was ready. We got our 1st drink order in, apps and those came out and we gave our dinner order and thats where our server disappeared. Noone had a drink for over 40min or saw the server. I had to go to the bar to ask for drinks and bartender said that what your server is for. So after another 10 min i went back to bartender and said i know its our servers job but she doesnt exist around here. So bartender agreed to make us drinks.
Later on server showed back up w food. We mentioned we havent seen her in forever and that we had to go to the bar for drinks. She said thats fine, thats what they are there for. We mentioned the kids havent had water in 40min so she brought a pitcher. Never checked on us again, just sent the 1 host with the bill. So we had the host get us boxes and sauce sides that our server had never gotten for us.

We walked into a fairly empty restaurant only to be taken to the patio area. It was a hot day and we did not wish to eat in the heat so we requested a table indoors. They cleared one and accommodated us, but the wait for our food took at least 45 minutes. Our server was nice about it but we couldn't get real answers as to why our food was taking so long. Sounds like they were short staffed in the kitchen or something. I will say the food was very good, but not worth a 45 minute wait.

One of the owners has celiacs so safe for gluten-free with dedicated gf fryer. Knowledge staff as well! I got the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich gluten free and it was delicious. There are some vegan and veg options as well. Food is fresh and flavorful. Very nice atmosphere and outdoor area, separate pool table area. I took my daughters (who were visiting) on July 5th, one of the busiest times of the year and yes there was an expected wait but the Hostess, Susan was the most gracious person even though it was insanely busy!! She greeted with a smile and never once lost her cool!! We have eaten at the Craftsman many times! Not only because the atmosphere is trendy, modern and refreshing from all the others but the food is great. More importantly the women in my family have Celiacs and GI and this place is safe for us!! they offer delicious GF options and they use a separate fryer! We have had their parmesan/truffle tater tots, burgers, flatbreads, Nashville hot chicken and tacos—everything was delicious. Our server was a gem!! Also very gracious during a horribly busy time—I wish I could remember her name but she was an adorable young lady with reddish hair that she wore in pigtails. She was very attentive and kind!! Craftsman has a winning combination—great good, great staff and great atmosphere!! Did I mention they support and honor our Vets!!!

My wife and I had a tremendous lunch at The Craftsman recently. We have not dined there in over three years because we felt the food was very mediocre. Much to our surprise, some big changes have occurred since our last visit. The food was delicious, served promptly, and the menu offered great variety.
The restaurant was so clean, especially the bathrooms- it is amazing what an owner can do if motivated to keep an establishment clean. Our conversation with our server was very entertaining, which put a cherry on top of our lunch. Highly recommend 😊

Turned us away for food when it says online they serve until 9pm we arrived at 840pm. They do not close until 11pm. The manager had some young boy tell us after he asked her and she went in the back. We were on the Michigan side looking for a great restaurant that had gluten free options and this popped up about 50 minutes away. We thought well let’s check it out and super happy we did! This place has great potential! It’s a beautiful space and the servers were super friendly and kind to us, though they weren’t too subtle about hurrying us out. This place is very unprofessional, weak drinks that only have 2oz of liquid in them, overly fried food, managers that don't care to check in on guests, and a waitress that doesn't tend to you unless you catch them quick.

Service was terrible. We were sat right away, however, we waited over 8 min for a waitress to tend us. She took our drink and appetizer order. We got the app before we even got drinks, the manager even walked past a dozen times and she couldn't even stop to check in on seated guests to see how things were going. The drinks were VERY weak and we were lucky if we got 2oz of liquid in the glass. For $12 a drink, I expect it to be mid-strong and more than 2oz of liquid. Our waitress never checked in on us, never stopped to ask if we needed refills. The food was very over fried and dry. When we we were finished, waiting for the waitress to pick up our payment, she quickly dropped off someone else's receipt AND credit card on our table and told us to have a good night, we had to tell her that was not our card as we handed her our receipt and payment.
Would not recommend. It's a pretty building but ensuring else was just terrible.

Been here several times. Beautiful remodel inside and out. Patio is cozy. The holiday decor was great. The front of the house is improved - welcoming & friendly.

I only wish the food matched. The smash burger was SO smashed as to be like crispy lace. Dry and hung out the sides of the bun. (A Culver fast food burger would be better :( Tater tots were fun/ironic a few years ago but for the price point let’s upgrade… Other food just okay. Lots of salt.

As for the bar. It’s nice to have upscale crafted cocktails and I will pay for that. I had the blueberry Moscow mule there and it was terrific. But I knew how it was supposed to be made. The last and final time we went it had no mint, no blueberry ice ball, no blueberries scattered. When I thought I had the wrong cocktail the very sweet waitress admitted the bartender sort of hurried it out !! What? You’ve got one job dude. (Bar uncrowded)

Such a great spot for supper! We popped in on a later Friday afternoon. Everything was amazing. They did say they were understaffed and getting a table might take a minute, we didn’t mind, we were just happy to be there! All of the design and decor added to a welcoming and rustic atmosphere. We got there on a Friday, right when they opened at 11:00. I was thankful, because the place filled up quickly. The decor is cool but it was very loud and hard to hear and have a conversation over lunch.

There were 3 in our group. Everything was delicious and flavorful! The only downside was the cost ... We had a gluten free burger with chips, the Friday fish fry with coleslaw and tater tots, The tacos with a side salad, 3 waters and 1 drink. Our bill was $76 (plus tip! ) Granted -everything tasted great, but I'm my opinion, it was a lot for lunch.

There was a ping pong table, a pool table, and a shuffle board to keep busy while you were waiting for your food.

We had a great time, and always do whenever we frequent TCAT. Beautiful on the inside, a true work of craftsmanship (pun intended). The staff is more than hospitable and have always been since our first time visiting a few years back. As locals, we appreciate a family friendly establishment. How refreshing to see the owners behind the bar?! 10/10 every time. The restaurant is blessed to have a great front house member, Danny, who goes above and beyond to make our dine-in experience incredible. My daughter requested Parmesan cheese for her pizza and he went back into the kitchen and grated it himself!!! Phenomenal. The bar staff are very talented as well. Anyway…

My husband and I had shrimp tacos for lunch—there were two VERY LARGE shrimp in each taco, and the flavor was fantastic! It was nice having a cucumber/tomato salad to accompany it as well—instead of the same ol’ same ol’ (french fries or chips) that other places usually have. The price was also fair.

Our boys had kids pizzas. They were a great size—not too big, and not too small.

I loved the attention to detail around the rest of the place:

- paper straws (zero plastic being used here, which I LOVE and RESPECT!)
- organic soda options (heck yah!!!!)
- nice quality colored pencils for the kids to draw with; no boring, broken crayons
- cute games for the kids to play
- a nice memorial wall for a fallen soldier
- a beautiful piece of “world art” that shows where all of their customers are from (which is ALL around the world)
- a thoughtful assortment of potential necessities in the women’s bathroom (diapers, wipes, tampons, etc)

Tried to eat here twice both times the “hostess” claimed a 1 hour wait with open tables and no explanation for why we couldn’t be seated. We decided to try back for dinner and a different “hostess” then gave us a 2 hour 40 minute wait; and the place was even LESS busy as it was prior. I guess this place doesn’t need business and doesn’t mind turning it away. Disappointed to say the least.

Delicious food and heavenly truffle tots!

Came here twice and everything we got was so good! A lot of their food is fatty or fried so it'll sit heavy, but it's all good! I could easily make a meal of the truffle tots!

They also have a dedicated gluten free frier and can make GF fried chicken for the hot honey sandwich!

Amazing spot, lovely service/ server (Natalie), delicious food and drinks! Our server recommended a very cute and tasty drink. Food came out quick, place is super cute and cozy.
We got fried cheese curds, the 2.0 burger and tipsy pig... sooo good!

Update: The women's bathroom is so cute! And there's amenities in there!

Atmosphere was easygoing and welcoming. Beer offerings were wide and varied. Our meals were enjoyable, well-prepared, and well-presented, though it didn't quite reach the level of extraordinary. On the whole, this was a pleasant dining experience. Communication from host to waiter could have been better regarding our need for a high chair.

We stopped in for a drink and some food. The little girl (waitress said owner’s daughter) took us to a table in front of the bar, gave us menus and brought us water. She’s a pro! After that we waited over 10 min for service and no one ever came. 2 guys behind the bar and a lady behind bar directly in front of us. Staff walked by several times. Finally we left, no one could have cared less.In fact I said see ya to the girl and she smiled. It was not busy at all. No one sitting at bar, don’t know what issue was. Disappointed

This was my first visit. I must say the food is Delicious. I recommend The Mint Smash Burger. Melt in your mouth goodness!! Oh the Amber Ale Cheese Curds omg Yum!! I will be back!! I highly recommend enjoying a wonderful atmosphere along with friendly staff and delicious food!!

Horrible. First off trying to eat when theres a bunch of people playing shuffle board a foot away from where you're eating is not my idea of a great dinner. Secondly the food is not worth your money. I had the craftsman burger and added tater tots (which was a $2.50 charge) wow! Over $20 for the most mediocre burger. Sounded amazing on the menu. As most of it does. I dont even want to hear its inflation or whatever the excuse is. Save your money and go to Fritz's in Woodruff for a delicous burger at $6.

I don’t drink so can’t say much about the alcohol. Our waitress was inattentive and slow coming to us each time. We started off with bruschetta, and that was decent. Bread wasn’t hard and tomatoes were sweet and juicy. I ordered the lobster roll, it was dry, lacked butter, but had good enough seasoning for northern Wisconsin. Didn’t get any butter to dip it in or pour it on top. Hubs got the craftsman 2.0 smash burger; it was ok. Nothing to rave about but it made him full. This place looks like it should have “fork and knife” cuisine, but has “hands on” cuisine instead. Like a place that serves dressed up bar food. Tator tots would come better tasting out of an ore-ida bag. The chips tasted like dirty potatoes with half a sprinkle of salt and pepper, maybe. This place has all the looks of a decent northwoods restaurant but it’s really just a pig with lipstick on. Loved the root beer.

Omgggg I know I’m a mediocre cook.. but this place… wonderful service- Danny was excellent; the food…. Outstanding!! - and the design… right up Mike’s alley!! And I should mention great company!! Our server was very friendly. Service was rushed though. Had appetizer before we even had a drink. Food came out right after drinks. Food was mediocre. Cheese curds were very greasy. One person had Nashville hot chicken. No spice and just meh. Honey chicken sandwich tasted burnt. Would try again because drinks had potential but no reason to be so rushed on a Friday in eagle river.

We loved our dinner here as we were passing through Eagle River. Super cool aesthetic and friendliest & most capable wait staff we’ve experienced in quite some time. We ordered two kids meals which came with great portion sizes and the sides of veggies & homemade ranch was huge & cut up super cute. The adults in our group had the lobster roll, logging camp burger, and garlic tots and they were all an 11/10. Logging camp burger was the best burger we’ve ever had. Highly recommend - we will be back!

First visit to The Craftsman! We happened upon it while visiting Eagle River. We decided to give it a try and weren't disappointed! Menu is extensive, took awhile to make a decision! We ended up sharing the Tipsy Pig, bbq pork sandwich. It was delicious! Server Liam was attentive and knowledgeable about the brews. Fun game room in the back!

Great pub food, good variety on the menu, good variety of beverages, and warm, helpful wait staff. Hope to go there again soon. My cousin had shrimp tacos packed with cabbage and pico de gillo. Each taco had two huge shrimp. He said they tasted great! I had the lobster bun (without the bun). Requested gluten free so they served the grilled lobster chunks over a bed of fresh greens. Yummy! We both had tater tots, which were crispy and satisfied that crunchy potato craving. Thank you, Brittany (wait staff) for your great suggestions!

Came here with my family (12 of us) last Thursday. We waited a little bit for a big table. We sat down she came with waters and she took our drink our pretty quickly.
I always read reviews for what to eat and everyone suggested multiple things.
I ended up ordering the Pork Belly Bites and Steak Sandwich which were both to sooooo good! The steak was cooked perfectly. Recommend both! Prices are little high but paying for quality is always worth it to me!
A lot of others got the Craftsman 2.0 and raved about it.
If we come back to eagle river, we will be definitely be going there!

Enjoyed the atmosphere.

Ran out of several food items by 12:30pm and wasn't told what wasn't available until after we initially ordered. So it was annoying selecting items on the menu and THEN being told it isn't available. Would have been more enjoyable if that information was told upfront when we were brought to our table and drinks were ordered.

Portion size is not big. If you're really hungry, may want to order appetizers to supplement your main dish.

Sat at bar while waiting for seat. Took 10 minutes to be acknowledged and another 10 minutes to get drinks. Ordered a second drink and never received it.

Waiting an hour for a table and we were 7 people but there were tables for 12 with 4 people at them and empty tables for 4. So be prepared to wait for everything!

Food was great ( a few things slightly overcooked, but great overall), beautiful atmosphere, free pool/ping pong/etc. Overall, just a great place to bring the family.
