Fantastic place in quiet lakeshore town. Servers were very attentive and cheerful. Beer was cold. Food was excellent, especially the coconut curry! Was expecting a basic bar food menu, and while they did have that, they offered so much more. Bathroom lighting could be a bit brighter, but otherwise our experience was excellent!

Food was amazing. Our server left a lot to be desired, though. It seemed like they were short staffed, maybe, and our server was doing double-duty, but we hardly saw her. My water glass was empty for half of my meal and she never came to fill it, and then we had to wait a long time for her to come by so we could ask for the check. My water stayed empty. I'll chalk it up to a glitch in their normal, perhaps? Food was great, though.

Gourmet food for an affordable price along a historic logging road between the Apostles and Superior. This upbeat, positive, and beautifully cozy restaurant along Hwy 13 has far exceeded my foodie expectations. In a single weekend of camping along the Lake nearby I have managed to eat here daily because... they offer a selection of dishes and culinary skill that are just what I deserve.

Rosemary garlic fries? Check.
Beer cheese soup w/ popcorn? Check.
Cuban sandwich? Check.
Fettuccine Alfredo w/ veg? Check.
Seared tuna steak (artistic mouthgasm)??? Chickety Check Check.
Carrot cake? Yuppers. I'm full.

The patio is a casual attraction, and the Bloody Mary's are quite amusing.

A hidden gem in Herbster that serves up a diverse and creative menu. I generally don't expect to find gluten free options (or even knowledge) outside of larger cities, but that expectation is broken here. They have GF buns, pizza crust and are willing to modify most items on the menu. The Cranberry continues to be a must-visit spot whenever I am in the area.

The environment is warm and welcoming in all seasons with friendly staff. Sometimes one needs to wait a little longer, which never bothered me. Watch the lake, sip and drink and take it easy.

We dropped in with a big group of 19 people. The owner was friendly and greeted us as soon as we walked in, didn't seem phased at all by our group, alerted us of the fact that she was the only one for another 20 minutes, however still was able to grab our drinks and get started serving us. The second waitress arrived and dig in immediately with another pleasant attitude and great service. I thought our lunch would've been delayed since they were quite busy but we were served quite quickly. The owner of the vacation home we were renting told us this was everybody’s favorite restaurant so we stopped in for lunch. Husband had the Cuban sandwich special and I had the wedge chopped salad. First off, the cheese curds were the best I’ve ever had in my entire life, not even exaggerating and I have them everywhere we go. My wife had the chicken dinner and she said it was dry and not that great, she didn’t finish it nor take the rest to go. My pizza was ok but the crust was burnt, like they just pulled it out of a house fire burnt. Atmosphere was great though so that made up for the food snaffu. We were really looking forward to our first good meal in the area, especially after seeing the delicious looking options. Maybe it was an off day for the cook or something so take it in stride, I’m only reviewing our experience.

I have eaten at the cranberry 6 or 7 times. Myself and everyone I have been with have thoroughly enjoyed the food. The wait staff have been friendly, courteous and completely competent.
However the inadequate acoustics in both the dinning and bar room are nearly intolerable. Not being able to carry on a normal conversion while sharing my time with friends and/or family seems more and more a waste of time.
Personally in the future, I often will be opting to choose other alternatives.
Hopefully this issue will
be addressed sooner than later.

Hands down the best food in the area. What a hidden gem this place is! We had driven by many times when we visit the area but had never stopped until now. If you’re a cheese curd fanatic like we are, the cheese curds here are some of the best ones you’ll ever have. Not to mention the Smokey ranch sauce they come with is absolutely amazing. I also ordered the pot pie which is normally something I wouldn’t order when out to eat, but previous google reviews convinced me to give it a try. It was outstanding! The crust was flaky and the inside was creamy and delicious! My husband ordered the Alfredo with steak and also said it was amazing. The staff were all great and also contribute to what a wonderful establishment this is! We will certainly be back every time we are in the area to enjoy the outstanding food and people that make this a must-stop place! 10/10.

The Cranberry's Labor Day weekend BBQ Jam knocked it out of the park! The Music and BBQ were amazing. For how busy it was the staff and Lacey were orderly, professional and on the ball. They even dealt with some difficult customers politely/respectfully and without a major scene (though one customer tried to make a big scene). I love to see such a community event in Herbster and the diverse customers that the Cranberry draws in! I can't wait for next year's BBQ Jam!!

We came in with a group of 9 after a long morning on the trails this past Saturday. As soon as we walked in the 2 ladies on staff looked unhappy and not very welcoming. We patiently all ordered drinks and food. The bartender asked if we wanted “fries, chips or soup with our meal”. She failed to mention it was a up charge. (Sneaky) We asked if we could sit outside and the response we received was “yes but you have to get your own stuff because we don’t have staff for outside”. Fine, but first we had to clean off the tables from the last people. The food was quick and delicious. I understand working short, but the decent people are willing to be patient as long as staff are pleasant and welcoming.

My girlfriend and I were passing through on our weekend trip following the lake superior shoreline and when we walked into this little spot we were pleasantly surprised to find a great atmosphere with a great little bar but more importantly once we received our food it was fantastic! Visiting Laceys' new restaurant up north has been on our list of things to do since she took the big leap and followed her heart to the North Shore. Wonderful food, delicious mixed beverages and great location . We had the breaded cheese curds as an appetizer , shared a handcrafted burger and fries and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Showed up a few hours before closing tonight to visit a friend and have a few drinks. As a testimony to the quality of this place, I was the last local at the bar when a group of 20-somethings showed up from a nearby campground, like 15 of them, 20 minutes before closing. They wanted drinks and food, a BIG order. The servers and cooks didn't complain, didn't even blink - they knew an order like this was important and stepped up; they buckled down and served that table good food and drink quickly, with pride. It was awesome to watch and made me feel like hard work is worth something.

NOBODY WOULD SERVE US: I liked the atmosphere and my wife and I sat at the bar, where four staff ignored us. It was a really light time with no more than six people in the place total. Nobody took a drink order, offered us a menu, nor made eye contact with us for 20 minutes. several times, team members were within arm’s length of us but no eye contact. One by one they left and suddenky nobody was behind the bar at all

so we left unserved and unrecognized. We oassed 3 of them having a smoke outside amd no one recognized us in any way.

one bartender seemed sort of too cool and stuck on himself. i remember being at cranberry a year ago and joe cool was there then too and just like that. He’s mastered the art of not seeing you so he doesn't have to help you. Last year it was impossible to get a second drink from him and he seemed hassled when serving you. don’t dare ask for a sample. The cheesecake was the best cheesecake I’ve had. Our waitress Jojo was amazing as well. We had a party of 15 and she handled it extremely well. She was also very funny too and very kind.

Cranberry Over Superior last Thursday for lunch. Great deck with view of beautiful bog and glimpse of the big lake, plus lovely pots of herbs and vegetables. Wonderful cocktails (have the mojito)and the food was great. I had the Hot Mess on Highway 13 (poutine) which was delicious. Highly recommend!

We stopped in here during a blizzard in December and just had the bloodies, which are something to see in and of themselves. We saw desserts being made and knew we had to come back for food, so we did. My gosh, amazing! Service was awesome both times, in the dead of winter and busstle of summer. It's tough to find staff, and Herbster isn't left out. But they are busting their butts and did a great job. The Sriracha Brussles were a great app. It's a cool place in a cool space and has great food and drinks to boot. You can't beat it.

We visited on a Saturday night. Enjoyed some drinks and the spinach artichoke dip was fantastic. We tried the weekend special philly and the roastbeef Po'Boy with fries. Did not disappoint. The server was great, even as it began to get busy. Definitely will be going back!!

The food is excellent! Food is farm to table supporting local farmers in the area. The specials are amazing, creative, you can check them out ahead of time on Instagram. The everyday menu offers a wide variety of sandwich's , burgers , chicken pot pie, homemade pizza. Service is outstanding, atmosphere warm friendly-children welcome!! Perfect place to watch a sunset on Lake Superior. Not your usual up north burger joint.

1st time going there today. The bar seems to be priority over the dining room, which is where we ate. Service by the woman owner was horrible. Not friendly, no smiles, very get to the point. Didn't tell us the specials. Never checked on us once while we ate. Our food took 40 minutes! I ordered a Caeser salad! My friend a sandwich and chips. Ridiculous. There was two other tables. Nothing that couldn't be handled. I actually had to get up and get my own to go box and ask for the bill. Overall, pricy food for a non welcoming atmosphere. Very limited menu, glad I didn't bring my kids! Won't be returning.

This place is great! Food was really good! I had an amazing chicken pot pie and my husband loved his burger (he is picky). Good beer list and a decent wine list. Dogs can be on the patio which is a big plus and service was great. Nice stop on your way to the south shore

We were heading east thru town on our way to the Fat Radish. We like Fat Radish but in my mind it was a little more upscale then were prepared for.
I saw the fancy deck and slammed on the breaks. Great choice. The pot pie was great. My wife had the cuban. Plus a couple of good cocktails.
The next day we recommended it to a couple we visited with on Madeline Island. The third dsay we were on a cruis and ran into that same couple. I overheard them recommending it to another 2 couples.
Definetly in the rotation.

I’ve been stalking this restaurant on socials and I finally got to visit for a birthday celebration. Did not disappoint. We started with an order of the best onion rings ever. Get the smoky ranch dipping sauce. Friday fish fry featured trout. It was perfect. The Penne Vodka special devine. We didn’t have room for dessert so we grabbed a piece of rhubarb tort to go. I would pay for that recipe. We split it 4 ways. I don’t think any of us will settle for anything less than our own piece in the future. We will back!

Excellent food hidden away in Herbster! Craft drinks worthy of Miami Beach! Fresh Home Made Sour Mix for perfect Margaritas!

A very cool looking establishment with a bar that looks west and over the lake. Sunsets in the evening, they can lower the menu board to block the sun in a unique way that lets you still see the lake and horizon.

The food is fresh and good. The Roast Beef Po Boy was awesome! And I already mentioned the margarita but this place obviously makes craft drinks and they all looked very good!

Definitely a great stop on the Snowmobile Trail! I look forward to making the Drive to Herbster just to eat here after sledding melts. Maybe time me next trim to Duluth to pass by for a meal and a drink!

The very charming young cook tonight had a fantastic potato soup with a great dinner roll for starters then came outstanding deep fried herring with mashed potatoes and skins and yet another wonderful dinner roll and she even brought me out some delightful gravey for my potatoes. The young bartender off "C" kept my classic coke filled to the brim and even had time to talk apple trees in between clients
Working all day in the woods on the Cranberry had me starving.

Hands down some of the best food around! If you're looking for a delicious meal, great bar and awesome service, then you definitely need to check out Cranberry over Superior. I had the chicken pot pie and it did not disappoint! Don't forget to start off with the cheese curds - probably some of the best I've ever had. Riggs was a rockstar! If there's a way I could rate any lower, I would. The wannabe hipster bartender dude is so unbelievably rude and condescending it's laughable. We sat for nearly 15 minutes before anyone ever came to the table. We decided to leave and he then asked if we needed something. We said we were going to head out instead and he his response was "Great!". The vibe is old, greasy and the weak attempt at trying to "update" with untrendy tin and timber was creepy. Smelled like a grease trap left in an abandoned bathroom in there. Nice try with those prices, too. Ha.

the bartender was the most rudest person we meet on out journey. He said he would be right with us and never came over. When I went to order something he rudely told me to wait a minute. It had already been 15 minutes and he also waited on a couple who just walked in...I would suggest to go across the street much nicer bartender and place!!! On top of it we couldn't review the food since we didn't even get the chance to order food since he didn't take our order.

What a great place, and a total surprise! Just toodling down the road i see this little bar with a bunch of cars around it, so I already knew it would be good. But the food and service was way over expectation! Love the special bloody mary, cheese curds are to die for, just everything was super good. 10 out of 10 would recommend and return.
