We took a chance on this place today. Normally I look for establishments with more reviews but decided to give this one a chance. The service was very good, as was the atmosphere. The food was very good but portions were a little light. I’m used to being served a 3 tier turkey club from almost anywhere that serves one. Also, the wire fry basket to serve the fries was cute but wayyy too small. Slightly bigger portions would ace this place for me.

Sunday “breakfast for lunch” at The Crossings Restaurant in Waukesha was exactly what I needed. Big thanks to Nayeli & Oscar for inviting us out—it was our first visit and it won’t be our last.

The place is bright, clean, and welcoming. Service was top notch—friendly, helpful, and patient with our kids and their custom orders. Oscar’s history in the restaurant world (including The Mad Rooster) shows—everything that came out of the kitchen was on point.

Here’s what was on the table:

Anne’s pick: Huevos Rancheros (limited-time special)

My plate: Crossings Ranchero Omelette with chorizo, jalapeños, salsa, avocado, plus a side of pancakes.

The kids: Mediterraneo Omelette, Nutella & Banana Crepes, and All-Berries Crepes (though this version was strawberries-only).

We also shared a few bites around the table (the perk of a big family) and everything was solid. I’m ready to plan our return trip because the menu is packed with things we still want to try.

If you love breakfast at any hour, do yourself a favor and swing by. What would you order first—omelets, crepes, or something else?

My original review from 3+ years ago: Excellent breakfasts with a good variety of specials, too. Quick service, pleasant atmosphere. A favorite spot for us.
UPDATE: three of us made recent visit (Aug. 2025), & it’s apparent The Crossings is under new ownership. Waitress was pleasant and very attentive, however the menu has changed ~ no more Greek omelettes, which was one of the reasons we occasionally would stop by. Toast was served completely “raw” - unbuttered & no browning at all, although small pats of butter were served with it. We were in a hurry, so didn’t make an issue of it. But you’d think a place specializing in breakfast would at least have the toast concept down! The rest of the orders (omelettes) were excellent & the coffee was very good.

My husband and I stopped for breakfast. The omelets were very good and the hash browns were done just right. I was disappointed in the toast - the quality of the bread and the way it was buttered. I remember the sourdough bread before, and it tasted like it came from a local bakery. When I get toast, I want it buttered - not just a little butter on the center of the toast! Our waitress was nice, but we had to ask for more coffee. The restaurant was clean, but the stools at the counter needed the bottom rung dusted. I did not like looking at the cleaning cart, and don't remember seeing it before. Why are there now two big games in this cute cafe?

Our server was very nice but it took about five minutes for her to come over. There was another table of two and a single table who had finished eating. A Diet Coke was $4! Food came out fairly quickly. Biscuits and gravy was a soup and cold. And not sure what meat was on it. The Crossings Combo was fine but nothing to go back for. I’m surprised it has a 4.6 rating on Google. Nice people, mediocre food, unfortunately there are too many stronger options and likely won’t be back.

Since new ownership has taken over it hasn't been the same experience. The food prices have gone up so much and the food has gone downhill. My favorite meal used to be the scalloped potatoes and ham. I was so excited today that it was on the menu today that I made a special trip. It was $14.50 for the meal. Much to my disappointment they stopped serving a vegetable and the portion size was a lot smaller. I ordered it to go and didn't even get a napkins or utensils which I never had to ask for in the past. I will kindly pass on a return visit.

This place should not be rated above the Four Star Family Restaurant. Family and regular customers must be giving reviews. It is an average place at best. I had the meat lover's omelette special $13.85 (I ask for wheat toast and I got white toast, omelette was average, potatoes had gray spots) and coffee $3.56 with tax it was like $18.64 . . .so with a tip $21. I don't mind paying $21 for breakfast, but for that amount I'd rather drive and eat at Dady-Oh's Restaurant or Plaza Garibaldi. I did like the eating counter and found the place to be very clean.

Me and a coworker stopped by this place for the first time for a quick launch option. And to be completely honest, we should have went to McDonald's or something else because the service was extremely disappointing and not just that but this place looks like it hasn't got a good carpet clean in years.
Only one waitress for the entire restaurant and she was completely overwhelmed that she couldn't even remember to bring coffee to our table. Food was ok, nothing special with their menu and lacking options.

Have been here on a regular basis and favorite day is Mexican specials day. Took a co-worker here today and service was extremely slow. It has always been fairly quick in the past. They have new staff and maybe it was due to training. I miss the waitresses that knew me from before. They were much more efficient. Food was just as great as ever though!

I'll say this place could use improvements. I don't know if it was the cooks or the waitresses. It seemed to be a mess, and it wasn't busy when we went.

The bacon was cold, and I had to ask for jelly, butter, and syrup... clearly, it should have been given when the food came out. Not to mention mine came out before the others' meals, and we waited another 5 mins for that, and it was still missing pancakes. We had to wait longer for those as well. As far as the taste in the food, it was all very bland.

Nobody smiled and was just an overall not an inviting place to be, maybe to regulars but not to new people.

Also, somehow, when the waitress brought us our bill... it was added incorrectly and was double the amount than what we got. We brought it up to her, and she fixed it, but that would be quite a mix-up for someone who wasn't paying attention. Anyways, good luck.

The pancakes (regular and blueberry) were very good. The grilled English muffin was cooked perfectly. The hash browns were crispy and the over easy eggs were on point.

The corned beef hash skillet has deli-corned beef rather than a house-cooked corned beef roast though.

Staff was friendly and attentive. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time.

I walked in and was greeted immediately with a smile and hello. When I sat down the waitress, Annette came and offered coffee right away. She allowed me time to review the menu. Well, it was ok. Not sure why it's rated so high. The food was bland. Our omelettes hardly had any cheese. The meat was good. But that couldn't save the breakfast. Had to put hot sauce on everything for flavor.
Coffee was bland even with creamer & sugar. Hash browns were ok. Prices were about average, $30 bucks for 2. Service was pretty good. Probably not going again. Webbs would've had more flavor.

The big issue I had, was the horrible conversation That was had with the female owner at checkout. Very rude and unprofessional. On top of that, confrontational, which was surprising and unexpected. My wife and I stumbled upon this place (thanks again Google) during our first trip to to Milwaukee for a game. We stayed in Waukesha and ate here the morning of the game. We are so glad we did. Their breakfast game was on point and the food was fantastic, I had a gyro omelette, super yum. They also seemed to show excellent team work. It was pretty busy, a couple bigger groups, but we didn't wait more then 10 minutes for our food. The best part was sitting at the counter, right next to a local with his very own MIlwaukee coffee mug, super nice guy. If you are looking for a great place to start your day, I would give this place a shot for sure.
