My husband ordered the cheese steak and I git the cheeseburger. Burger had the "fancy" sauce applied sloppily, over the side of the burger and on the plate. Husband's cheese steak had cheese and relish edges that were curled and dry. Husband said it tasted like it had been microwaved.
Fountain soda was very watered down.
Fries were good, but not worth that much money.

Had reservations, but didn’t need any because it was a ghost town. Nice view outside but that’s the only thing good about the place. Baked Brie for app sucked. I ordered the sirloin medium and my boyfriend ordered the ribeye medium rare, both came out extremely over cooked well done. Everything was below average. Savouring a meal watching this stunning view is one of the best things you can do in Wisconsin Dells! The food in this place is awesome and so are their drinks. We had a blessed time enjoying dinner here. Also I didn't take a picture of our cheese balls which were perfect so I highly recommend trying that if you have a chance to visit!

I had lunch at the Dells Boathouse restaurant today. I ordered the Cajun Shrimp Alfredo. The shrimp was not completely cooked. It was translucent on the inside. Our waitress brought out another plate of shrimp. Just by looking at it it was also translucent. The concern became will I get food poisoning from eating undercooked shrimp. The manager Crystal came to our table & said it was OK to eat shrimp that was not completely cooked. This of course this is not true! You can look that up online. Which we did. Besides I ordered cooked shrimp not half cooked shrimp. For a manager to suggest this & treat us with a lack of respect is totally unprofessional. For this reason I will not patronize this establishment.

Beautiful resturant/bar right in The Vue Hotel and on the river.
I had the ribeye dinner and was very disappointed. Very tough even with a steak knife to cut. I would have said something, however, bartender and our waiter were too busy on their phones/tablets to come check on our dinners. We finally got up and walked to them for our bill. I told our waiter about my steak and besides I'm sorry, nothing else was offered to make it right.
So disappointing for $100 dinner for two people.

If we could leave less than one star, we would. We sat ourselves and ordered food and drinks right away. There happened to be a table that had just finished dining when we sat down. Their half-eaten plates sat on their table with flies swarming them for the entirety of our experience at the boathouse (roughly an hour and a half). Our coffees took over a half an hour to arrive. In the meantime, we all finished our waters and never saw our waitress once, so our waters sat there empty. I should also mention that we were one of only three tables. I ordered a shake, which our waitress completely forget about. Upon reminding our waitress that I had ordered a shake an hour ago, she brought it out with no apology and still put it on the bill.
Fast forward to our food actually coming out, we were excited to eat as we had been waiting for nearly an hour.
Two of our four plates had hair in the food, which was the last straw for us. Putting the hair aside, the food itself wasn't even good. Our waitress took both of the plates that had hair on them and took them off our bill and did not bring out any food as an apology or at least a replacement.
The manager came out and did not offer a solution to our terrible dining experience. Not only was this the worst dining experience we had ever had, the response from management was terrible. We left after waiting an hour and not even enjoying a nice meal, or even a meal at all. Do NOT eat here, you will regret it the second you order your food.
Oh and by the way, our waters still never got refilled.

We came in for breakfast at 10am. Were told we couldn’t sit outside cause the servers would be cold. Then the hostess started seating others outside. Took awhile to get our coffees. my husband asked for cream and sugar we never saw it and then our meals came so we asked for cream and sugar and salt and then again no one came with either so we finally went inside and grabbed some salt and then someone checked on us and we said we need cream and sugar after he was halfway done with his coffee our food was Getting cold. Our server, Daisy then avoided us the entire time until the check was due. I love the view from this place in the atmosphere could be really fantastic, but the service was awful..

We come to the Dells quite often and wanted to try something new with a good view. Unfortunately, we were displeased with our visit to The Boathouse. The service was very slow and it took a long time to not only get our orders placed, but also get checked in on. The food came out fairly quick, but it was not as hot as expected. The pizza was decent but definitely not made with any special flare. Would not come back, even though the views are stellar.

The atmosphere was amazing, which might be the only thing that saved this review. Online it is posted it is $8.00 Martinis, so we naturally ordered them, along with the Rainbow Trout and the Blackened Mahi Mahi. Both of our fish dishes were way over cooked. When the bill arrived to our surprise the Martinis were not $8, but $16 each. When we asked we were told that was an off season special that they aren’t doing now and they have no way to remove it, even though it is listed as a daily special. The manager was very “well there is nothing I can do I don’t post it and this is the price”

Hidden Gem of a restaurant! Has both inside and outdoor seating, both offering views of the lake. We started with two different old fashioned drinks from the bar and they were crafted beautifully and delicious! We ordered two appetizers - the calamari and baked brie. Calamari were breaded, fried and served with a creole mayo sauce. The brie was warm, melty, and tasty. The pan fried walleye - highly recommend. The rainbow trout was also good, but if you like fish, go with the walleye! Both were served with a mushroom risotto which was flavorful and plentiful. Our teenage daughter ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and added shrimp and she absolutely raved about it. We also had the beignets. They were light, airy, flaky, and flavorful. Our server Owade was attentive, friendly, and extremely helpful. To top it off, the views over the river are breathtaking. We were extremely pleased with our overall experience. We will be back on a future trip to the Dells!

Ordered an espresso martini that looked like it was poured straight from the river behind the bar—thick, brown, and mildly concerning. Naturally, I renamed it “The River Water.” Fortunately, it tasted way better than it looked. Honestly? One of the best I’ve had.

We generously offered Malik some truly awful pick-up lines for his future use (he pretended to be grateful), and he kindly informed me that my singing could clear the bar. Fair.

Worst food, all the food felt like premade store bought food. Zero for efforts, zero for service, good location but zero efforts taken to make it hospitable, seriously waste of location. The server was confused, didn't know about the menu, kept contradicting her statements after placing order. Took plates from us while we were eating. Too much time taken for simple things. Although the atmosphere was beautiful, this was one of my worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. We waited over thirty minutes before we even saw a worker, I ended up not even getting a drink after waiting for that long and attempting to order off of their Starbucks menu. When I went inside to ask the workers what was going on I found them sitting inside not doing anything. To make matters even worse my pizza was cold, soggy, and dripping in grease. Steak tasted previously frozen. I asked server if it was fresh or frozen, she didn’t know, asked the chef, and apparently it’s hand cut. For $38 I would hope for a steak that didn’t look and taste freezer burnt. Mashed potatoes had no flavor and looked like they sat under a heat lamp for awhile before they came out. If you don’t mind paying a lot of money for garbage food, this is the place for you. Wasn’t asked how the food was either, was just rushed the check. I wanted to give a good review bc Crystal (and I presume the rest of the staff) was accommodating when I called in to ask for a modification on my meal ordered through doordash. However the 14 dollar Ceasar salad didn't have any dressing and the 19 dollar fettuccine was very cold. I don't mean luke warm or just a little cooled off. I mean COLD. We had a table of 11 and we were seated outside, ordered breakfast and waited 45 min at least for food. When we arrived and up until after we put in our order there were not many other customers. It took like a half hour to get all the drinks. When our food came out to us it was cold. Anytime we tried to tell waiter the food was cold we were ignored. One plate had a hair in it and it seemed like all they did was take the plate back and reheat it. When we tried to discuss it with the manager he told us we should have told them sooner there is nothing they can do. We tried to tell them and were ignored but he didn't believe that. Tried to tell us our food was cold bc we were sitting outside. Sorry but food doesn't get cold instantly when u walk outside. Didn't even get the plate with the hair taken off. Told us the most they could do was 20% discount. Plus they have an automatic tip for large parties which was 32$. overall not satisfied at all, not a single person in our group was satisfied

I actually love the inside, the fries was great had flavor. The shrimp scampi dinner I had came out with no flavor - it came out like hot water with noodles and shrimps. If I actually wanted that I would want the to bowl water . The only thing I ate was the fries and the shrimp because I was hungry. And drank the lemonade. The music nice here. They really need to work on cooking with some flavor. Not with heat flavor but with flavor deferential types. It would help. Listen I am a person who rate every place I go- everyone I meet. Came here to eat dinner and decided to eat outside to enjoy the view. Everything was going great until a “regular” showed up, sat two tables away, and proceeded to include the F word into her conversation loudly at least 50 times. She also went and got in her car and revved the engine a couple times, then let her friends do it. Nobody asked her to please stop or anything, and at one point one of the servers was sitting at her table listening to her cuss like that with a 5 year old sitting two tables away. At the end of the meal we asked about it and were just given the excuse of “oh she’s a regular”. On top of that me and my sister got the mushroom risotto and she got the salmon that had the risotto on it and it was as bland and starchy as could be! I couldn’t even finish half of it. Don’t think we will ever eat here again while visiting.

My wife got the queen cut prime rib, and I got the king cut prime rib, and both cuts were the same thickness, and there was a little more fat on mine. No flavor, the au jus tasted like turkey stuffing, and the prime rib was tough. We also ordered the scallops, which were overcooked, and it came with 7 prices, which, if you put them all together, would have made up 2 scallops anywhere else. Best view of the madison lakes with affordable food and friendly service. The cheese curds with the ranch sauce were delicious and the boathouse burger was filling. The food here was amazing! I loved the walleye and the mushrooms risotto was the best thing I've had. The portions are wonderful and the mussels are a very good starter. The outside has amazing views and If the weather is nice definitely sit outside. I do recommend coming in through the doors that say The Vue. You have to wait to be seated and you have to walk through those front doors to be seated.

Our experience here was amazing! Owade was our server and he did an exceptional job. The restaurant was easy to find and plenty of parking. We definitely recommend sitting on the patio if the weather permits!

Very private setting, great food, great service, the best dessert, amazing mojitos! My husband and I ate here tonight and had the best experience. We had the calamari, salmon with mushroom risotto and the double cheeseburger and some amaaazing mojitos. Topped it off a Carmel brownie cheesecake. Everything was cooked to perfection. We are so stuffed and so happy with this entire experience here, can’t wait to come back next year for our anniversary. ☺️

Reserved a table for my husband and I for our anniversary on Sunday at 5 PM. There hardly wasn't anyone at the restaurant and it made a nice romantic evening. The lights were dimmed and it was a quiet atmosphere. We watched the sunset from our seats by the window overlooking the Wisconsin River.

I ordered the salmon with risotto and asparagus, and my husband ordered the mushroom risotto with chicken. My salmon was cooked perfectly but my husband's chicken was pretty dry.

Overall, the atmosphere and view was perfect. The food needs a little bit more attention. Would recommend.

We had dinner. It was great. The service was great. The mango margarita was awesome. The cherry vodka mule was really yummy.
I ordered the salmon with asparagus. It was good. It seemed to be missing the lemon caper sauce. Since I enjoyed it, I didn’t complain. The risotto was also good. We skipped the desert and opted for an additional mango margarita instead. The view of the water was incredible.

Chicken Sandwich was not good, just tasteless. The soda was flat and we were told they have a problem with the soda machine., but served it to us anyway. Waffle was gummy. While we were there other people were complaining The server seemed to act surprised, but you could tell he was use to hearing the problems.

The only good thing in this place is the view. The food was terrible. My husband's French onion soup was too salty. My ranch chicken wrap was sour and salty. My daughter's grilled cheese was literally a piece of bread with slice of America cheese. The cheese was not even melted. The service was very slow. The server appears to be new, although trying his best.

Manager was unattentive, we said excuse me couple of times and he just ignored it.
Host doesn't understand when you're speaking. Just stares at you.

We should have seen the signs:
Took 40 min to get something served and that's before we asked if even a soup is coming or salad.
Not many people were there on lunch hour on a weekend.
There were two ladies who looked upset and we heard them complaining about service.
Several tables had lots of leftover food on the table,but we stayed because we already ordered.

I dont know who is giving them 4/5 stars. Those who havent eaten? Great food WHAT? The food is bad some terrible! We had chicken wings and it was super salty. No ranch could help that. The chicken wrap was sour. It was spoiled. So sour, I spit it out quickly and don't even get me started on the onion soup, wow, the worst I've ever had. The chef must have poured 2 tbsp of salt on that bowl. The grilled cheese was 2 slices with kraft microwave. It wasn't even grilled, cheese wasn't even melted.
HORRIBLE!
Save your money and go someplace else.

We did mention it to the server who got the "manager" and he wasn't even phase by it. Should have walked right out when host was ignoring us but we didn't want to be presumptuous.

The pancakes had a sour cream aftertaste, the bacon was very chewy, the hashbrowns were not well cooked and had an odd flavor. One of my kids had French toast which tasted great. I had eggs and toast which were great!

Was there for an hour and a half. Took 25 minutes for coffee and water and another 50 minutes for mediocre breakfast. Server never once checked on our drinks or food. Glasses empty after 15 min and had to ask manager to fill. Another group had to get their own drinks. Beautiful view tho

Unless your a local don't get that having a good time feel. They will kick you out and have wannabe tuff guys put hands on you. Nigs is far far superior if your lookin to have a good time. We had a reservation for 6 of us for brunch and were there for almost 2 hours. Place was not very busy either. Service was so slow and food came out very cold. Server didn’t even check with us to see how the meal was and not very friendly. Even had people on the patio come to us to ask how long the food took to get out, which they ended up leaving because her husband is a diabetic. Then another table left too because service took so long to even get a drink order. Usually not one to complain about dining but this experience was awful for everyone.

The Boathouse- Waterfront Dining & Bar is right on the water and the staff are very nice. The only reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because the food is very average and the portions are small. I just went there yesterday (7/10/23) with a friend on the way back from Chicago. I got the double cheeseburger and she got the cobb salad. It was the smallest cobb salad I've ever seen, yet the price was the same as other restaurants that offer a portion double that size. Both of us finished our meal with no leftovers. Typically at restaurants, we get full and have leftovers. The same friend and I went to Ravina Bay Bar & Grill in Wisconsin Dells back in March 2023 on the way home from the Reba concert in Milwaukee. We both got grilled chicken caesar salads there and both the portion size and the quality was 5 out of 5 stars.
