Description

Welcome to The Duck Inn, a historic Supper Club located on the corner of County A and Hwy 89 in the township of Richmond, city of Delavan, WI. The name, The Duck Inn, originated first during the prohibition era when the Duck Inn was a speak easy. Therefore, patrons were to secretly “duck in” for a drink where the bartender would tell a patron to be quiet and “speak easy”. We hope that you “Duck in” for a cocktail and dinner soon!

The $50 ribeye was not worth the $$. My husband ordered it medium rare and it came out tough and with no flavor. I could have made this steak at home and it would have had more flavor and juice. Please be cautious when ordering the French onion soup because their is an up charge but they don’t state that when you are ordering. Our waitress September didn’t seem to concerned but at least we received an apology like that makes a difference.

I was part of a large party, on a Friday evening in October. Many in our party had never been to a supper club, I was eager to show them what a great experience it was. And the Duck Inn was impressive everyone enjoyed their food and drinks in the atmosphere. If I were ever in the area I would stop for dinner another time.

We recently celebrated our 10 year anniversary here and had a great experience! We were searching around for a good prime rib and after visiting 2 other supper clubs in the area and being told there was no seating or a 2 hour wait, we were so frustrated and decided to drive an extra 30 minutes to this cute supper club and boy are we glad we did. Our waitress was soooo sweet. They had run out of prime rib and she told us that I got the last one and I kid you not I almost broke down in tears after the difficult night we had on our anniversary. We had such a wonderful dinner here. The crab stuffed mushrooms were to die for. The prime rib was incredible. My husband loved his pasta dish!! We never felt rushed and got to sit for awhile and enjoy our meal and conversation. This place salvaged our night! Thank you so so much

I just didn’t care for my dinner I had the baby back ribs it was the special for that evening food was room temperature most of the others food was good except for my husband his potato had sour cream and no butter when he had specialized just butter lots of it. A little on the top end for cost price for the food . Probably would not go there again.

Very unhappy and disrespected. I made an online reservation for my wifes bday. It was for 5:30pm Sat Aug30th. We arrived at 5:15pm. It was crowded being the holiday weekend. I talked to a young tall blond lady. She was running the desk. I checked in and said we had a 5:30 dinner reservation. She couldnt find my name.
I told her I had gotten many texts and placed the 5:30 time online. She asked to see my phone. Then she wrote down something at the bottom of the time sheet. She gave me a black pager and said when it goes off it will be for you (kind of snotty). I waited outside on the benches. 30 minutes had passed, I checked with her again. She I still have 2 tables before me. I told her this was rediculous when Ive been watching people sit down who arrived after I did. She said nothing. I went back outside. The lobby was crowded. I waited again another half hour and went back up to check again. She said she paged me. I showed her my paged. #8
It still didnt go off. She said let me check again. She looked like she was scrambling to check her reservation book. I waiting another 5 min and then she finally called me up and got us a table. This took over an hour for a reservation that was scheduled. She said she was sorry but went right back to her paperwork. I felt disrespected at that point. They took us to a table and we finally sat down. The food was good and the waiter was very nice. We spent $115.00 for dinner but I would think about going there if thats how they treat their guests. I was not impressed with the service at the front desk.
Probably never coming back there again. Not a very good Bday experience.

Confused by all the great reviews. Had dinner here tonight for a birthday and it was very sub par. I enjoyed the ambience, relish tray, and our nice waitress but that was about it. We ordered the oysters Rockefeller to start and they were soo fishy. I feel like they weren’t fresh they were so bad. For my meal I ordered the queens filet med rare (plus) and it came out very rare so I sent it back to get cooked more and it was still the same when I got it back. I didn’t want to send it back for a second time so I just ate a few bites and packed it up. Boyfriend ordered the duck and said it was just okay that he’s had better. Don't think I need to come back here which is a bummer ..because I really loved the ambience but the food was just very mid for the price.

We made a reservation for 7, celebrating my 50th birthday. Connie was our waitress and was excellent! We drove 1 hour to come, specifically for the old Wisconsin Supper Club vibe, and it was just right! Complete with bread basket, cracker sticks, dollops of cheese and butter, relish trays, and spinach salad with bacon dressing. Old Fashioneds were fabulous.

Classic Wisconsin supper club. On Friday it was packed, and the rumble was perfect for the ambiance.

Had dinner on a Friday night. We all had the fish fry. It was delicious and our service was excellent! We did the have to wait for a little while because we didn't have reservations but we sat at the bar and had a good before dinner drink.

I so appreciate a supper club with vegetarian options. The pasta and spinach dish was delicious. Shrimp cocktail had hearty shrimp. Service was attentive. She checked in a bunch of times, refilled drinks, etc. We splurged with dessert after the huge meal and really enjoyed the lava cake. It has been years since we had one and it was everything we remembered it to be.

Very cool place, aquarium in the bar is awesome! Food was good. It didn't blow me out of the water, but it was good. Duck was a bit on the dry side. BAKED POTATO MADE ME SAD. Please don't overcook your baked potatoes, they should not be so dry and flavorless ... it's the little things on the menu that you can't forget about.... Old Fashioned was very good ...overall probably won't come back myself, but I would recommend for others to go to check it out at least once.

we do go several times a year and have to say, we've mostly had wonderful food and good service but last night was not good. very poor service and we are never in a rush. arrived at 5:30 took a long time to even get our cocktails along with everything else. we were the last ones to leave at 9:00 We had to ask waitress to remove relish plate, empty salad plates and empty bread bowl while placing dinner food down. my potato was cold and almost burnt, only one plate had a couple of carrots, 2 had a piece you almost couldn't see. ordered a full size ice cream drink, received half sized but was charged for the full size and had to ask for an adjustment which we did get on 1 of 4 bills. I do have to say my prime rib was very tender. hopefully next time will be better.

We hit this spot on the Fourth for an early meal when it opened at 4pm. The food was good and plentiful. The service was nice.

We had the relishes and the chicken wings as some appetizers, the house salad and a couple duck dishes as our entrees. You won’t leave hungry and the food was tasty.

It’s an old supper club that has probably been around for years. It’s clean and well kept. We’d visit again when we’re in the area.

In the beginning, the atmosphere was wonderful around the bar then we got seated. There was no air condition. Then we put our orders in and when our food comes, food was cold overcooked spoiled lobster tail, and it was not consistent and they could not get it right ended up not getting to eat. I would not recommend going here to anyone however, our server was very prompt and frustrated that the kitchen was putting out such food, but he was very good and taken care of.

Been here many times, but the food at our recent visit was horrible. Beef burgundy tips with mushrooms were extremely bland. Anglers pasta was extremely overcooked. Although the seafood was ok, the pasta itself was not edible. Made the waitress aware with the hope of at least a discount, and all she said was "sorry". I know it wasn't her fault, but some sort of compensation was expected. Horrible, and expensive experience. We won't go back and you should think twice too. Place isn't what it use to be.

We went here for a group dinner last month and absolutely loved it. It is a true supper club with the food, the drinks, and the ambience. All of our meals were delicious and seasoned/cooked perfectly. Our server was Shannon, and she was amazing! So friendly, welcoming, and attentive. it is a true experience going to this long-time standard of a supper club. excellent service and a multitude of seating, ² taxidermy, fish tank, dark bar. I've been coming for what seems like 50 years, and haven't been disappointed yet. Friday fish, fry and smelt are a bargain and worth the drive alone.

I wished we can review better but my husband and myself stopped by the restaurant Easter Day afternoon wasn’t busy but we were ignored in the entrance by host and two more employees after waiting 10 minutes and I asked the girl how much longer we have to wait to be seated because nobody was waiting , then we went to seat the last table near the kitchen a nice young guy brought water and crackers then we waited 30 minutes and no waiter came to ask about drinks and nobody came to take our orders we just stand and left the restaurant very disappointed really bad customer service scratched off my list they was one of my favorite restaurants

Service was ok, food was very slow to come out. They charge for a relish tray, unlike most. They also charge for refills on soda, $1.75 ,each for maybe a 1/2 can of pop in a very small glass filled with ice...

I had the special (Saturday) prime rib...6/10. Came out NOT as described and warm-ish.

Overall, not in my top 10 and we have been traveling a lot to try supper clubs.

My family, 10 of us, came to celebrate my mom’s 90th birthday. We all travelled at least 45 minutes to be here. Our arrival was planned with the owner, so we were not a surprise. Initially everything was fine, drinks were served waitress was friendly, etc. but after we placed our orders, we did not see the waitress or receive our meal for almost 2 hours! We were aware that there were only three other tables in the restaurant.
Four in our party ordered seafood of some sort. My salmon was charred to a crisp (not just blackened) and three others’ lobster was so overcooked that one of them couldn’t be cut with a steak knife!! Who does that to a lobster?? Fortunately my salmon was replaced (another 15 or more minutes, why so long?). We did not ask for new lobster tails as we had already waited so long for the first. Once the waitress had been notified about the lobster the only response was I’m sorry. No offer for a remedy or compensation of any kind. It was a such a disappointment especially since this was again my mom’s 90th birthday and she was looking forward to that lobster.

Had a party of 10 for my mother's 90 birthday. Was super bowl Sunday, so maybe short staff. Took forever to get our food. We had 3 lobster dinners that were extremely overcooked. Our prime rib was amazing, but our friend ordered a filled mignon. Her martini and my wife's were served in regular cups due to a shortage of martini cups. The filled mignon was over cooked, came late due to ordering issues, ( waitress put in wrong order). The waitress only served our table 1 drink per person and never asked if we would like more or desserts. She seemed young and new to her role. The manager was informed by my wife of our experience and he made it up to use by cutting the price on the filled, and comping the 2 martinis. He apologize up and down and thanked us for our visit and pactens during this matter. I was not disappointed in my meal but our friend was experiencing this event for her first visit to the restaurant. We appreciate the amends made and will return in the future for a better visiting experience. 10 out of 10 I would still recommend 👌 👍.

My friend and I took a drive from Milwaukee to this supper club last night. The waitress was friendly and on top of things. We didn’t have any issues with that. We ordered oysters, shrimp and drinks to start. I thought the size of the oysters were plump and tasty. You get 6 in an order. The shrimp cocktail was several pretty large size shrimp. We ordered our entrees and salads. The bacon dressing spinach salad was very flavorful. The bread basket is good and crackers came also. We received the entrees and everything was hot. I got the prime rib. It was a large size meat and the mushrooms were good. I enjoyed the meal. Timing was good on the courses. Issue was mainly with the atmosphere here. It’s terrible. There is no dress code so many men wearing hats in dining room which is off putting. Also the volume is absurd. A table was intoxicated well before 7 pm and practically screaming for 10 minutes straight. Most other diners were agitated by them. Also no piano or instrumental in the dining area either. Bathroom is near the check in area also. Atmosphere is bad but beyond that it all is good. The after dinner grasshopper was huge! Worth the hour drive from the city!

I need to start this review by saying that Cameron (sorry if spelled your name wrong) who answers the phone at the host station is AMAZING. He was so kind! it was my dad‘s birthday, and I called to make a reservation. My dad means the world to me and he is such a hard worker. he realllyyyy deserves a nice dinner.. I really wanted the main room for him and Cameron reassured me I would have a table in the main room & if anything changed he would call me... I called back asking about desserts and he gave me a full list of desserts and even gave me recommendations based on my dad’s taste. He went above and beyond to make sure that I was being listened to. I have never felt so confident walking / being in to a place with my dad for his birthday.

Beautiful place, but the food was terrible! My wife and I both had steaks that came out cold and flavorless. The sides were tiny and served on a cup plate. Very disappointing especially when you're paying over 50 dollars a plate. Other people in our group had the same problems. On top of that the server was very rude!

Atmosphere of this place was neat and interesting. Unfortunately, it doesn’t save this supper club from the issues.

Main issues revolve around food quality. Every entree my party ordered was either lukewarm or cold yet took 45 mins to come out of the kitchen. Not sure if this was a kitchen or server issue, but I’m leaning towards kitchen because our server was okay otherwise. My wife ordered the queen filet and it looked very unappetizing, which is sad coming from a guy that loves steak. It was also cold to the touch. We should’ve sent it back, but we usually don’t complain. Well now it’s 3 am and she’s has food poisoning.

I ordered a ribeye and it was just a seared/broiled prime rib. I’m aware they technically come from the same cut of meat, but cooking method changes the experience IMO and I should get what I ordered. I’ve seen this cost-saving tactic before at other restaurants when you get a steak on prime rib night, but didn’t expect it here due to the price. Steak add-ons are a little pricey at $4.25 for a small dish of butter. Drinks were okay…not bad but some balancing issues.

Prices in general lean higher for supper clubs which is okay if the value matches. Sadly, not the case here and will be crossing Duck Inn off list of supper clubs to return to.

I really wanted to like this place because I enjoy supper clubs but I didn't enjoy the duck inn. I like the classic supper club look of the place but the food was overpriced and below par. I had the new york strip with bernaise sauce and it was flavorless and almost tasted boiled. The baked potato only had one small cup of sour cream and the waiter had to be searched for to get more water. My boyfriend was very excited for the duck but it was dry and mediocre. Sadly disappointed and I think they can do better.

Was our 5th and unfortunately last NYE here. We had terrible waitress, and our food was just ok. If we are paying $50 for a steak we should be getting much better service than we had. I got a filet mignon that was AMAZING! Cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth like butter. My husband ordered me an adult beverage he asked the bartender for something sweet and fruity, I don't know what the drink was he gave us but it was anything but sweet and fruity. Tasted like rancid cough syrup. But everything else was wonderful.

Stepping into the Duck Inn Supper Club was an unexpected delight. From the outside, the building's unassuming appearance gave little indication of the cozy, cabin-inspired ambiance within. To make the experience even more memorable, we had the pleasure of meeting Ron Faiola, author of Wisconsin Supper Clubs. A quick photo and signed book were the perfect start to our evening.

We originally came for the Friday fish fry, a staple of many Wisconsin supper clubs, but were surprised to find it wasn’t offered or listed anywhere on the menu. While slightly disappointed, we decided to embrace the rest of the menu and weren’t disappointed overall.

We began with the traditional relish plate, which set the tone for a classic supper club experience. The cheese spread paired with bread and crackers was a standout—rich, creamy, and a must-try. Initially missing from our table, I’m glad I asked for it because it added a wonderful touch to the meal.

For our main courses, I chose the half duck with cherry sauce, and my husband opted for the pecan-crusted trout. The duck was nothing short of phenomenal—succulent, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. As someone who typically leans toward smaller portions, I found this dish to be the perfect amount and would eagerly order it again. My husband, however, found the trout to be decent but not particularly memorable, stating he wouldn’t order it again.

While the trout was underwhelming, we thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. The warm atmosphere and festive holiday decor created a charming and inviting evening. The Duck Inn Supper Club lives up to its reputation as a classic Wisconsin supper club, offering a blend of tradition and comfort with a few hits and misses in the menu and service.

Would we return? Absolutely—for the duck, the ambiance, and the quintessential supper club experience.

This place was highly recommended. It was our 1st visit. Not the experience everyone said it would be. Service was subpar at best. The whole time we were there, at least four tables were empty, so it was not crazy busy.The prime rib was cold and baked potato was burnt. For the amount of money that we paid, our waitress was not receptive and never asked us how our meal was -only asked us if we needed more butter. She did not ask about any dessert as well. We went to pay, and she did not say thank you at the end of the night when we were checking out.

First time here probably won’t be back. Sat down and ordered immediately with how busy it was. Fiancé ordered oysters he did not finish them. Said they were off and horrible. Prime rib was fine no flavor. Duck was moist but nothing interesting. The sides killed me. Mashed were dry and crumbly and the rice, dry dry dry. Ordered an old fashioned a second time that took another 25 minutes to get. Our server was busy and wasn’t around enough. For $145 I’m not wasting our hard earned money.

We have come here for special occasions for years. Always loved the roast duck. Came for a birthday recently. The duck was huge disappointment. It used to be roasted crispy and delicious. The skin on our ducks was thick with fat, barely browned and inedible. Going to have to look for someplace else to get roast duck. So disappointing.

Went for the all you can eat broiled cod tonight until I found out that it's cooked in 100% soy bean oil /fake butter which is basically poison. Come on guys spend the money on real butter especially when you advertise baked or broiled. Soy bean oil is toxic. I understand that for fried foods these methods are normal but not when you offer healthy options. Had to walk out immediately. Hopefully you can switch to real butter in the future.

This is an old super club that was used back in the prohibition days. We go there for the all you can eat fish fry, baked or fried. The potato pancakes are good, and we always order mozzarella logs and a relish tray as appetizers. Nice place and atmosphere.

On August 10 I had the Grilled Copper River Salmon. After finishing our salads, we waited about 1/2 hour for our entrees. My salmon was served at room temperature and the butter on top was ice cold. All the waitress did was apolizices. The 5 other people in my group also said their entrees were not very warm. Disappointed and would not be going back.

Wisconsin Supper Club is a Midwest thing and here is the definition, the bench mark, the classic place to experience what brings generations back to the back roads beyond the paths of tourist. Start with the Wisconsin Old Fashioned whether sweet or sour and on to the relish tray. Service is complimentary yet guides the experience. Solid supper club. Some of my party’s meals came out and were not hot. Steaks were cooked to perfect medium rare. Loved the decor. Wisconsin Old Fashion (sweet) was one of the best I’ve had. We come here on special occasions as the food had been great but its an hour drive away. July 18th was my birthday and we came out on that day and ordered food, sorry the review is so late.

I ordered Gorgonzola New York Strip Steak. I asked for medium rare. Our meals came out and I tried the first few bites and the steak was over cooked. Well done. I felt bad but asked the waitress if they could make another one and showed her since this was a $50 steak.

The next one came out.... Over cooked again. This one tasted a bit better. I did mention to her this is medium well. I was so hungry we hadn't eaten in 6 hours.

After the meal when the bill came, I asked her if I could have a small deduction for the steak since it wasn't cooked properly. She said the owner just came in and she can talk to him. If it were my business, as an owner I would have came over to see what was going but apparently wasn't interested. I did get a $10 deduction for the meal, but wont be coming back here again.
