Really good food. If you order the lobster bread pudding consider not getting the salad, that thing was basically a brick of delicious lobster and bread. So good, so filling.

Solid. All of us had very good meals. The wine list is sort of wonky and went to the category of ridiculous in spots. We went by the glass because of that.

They have Cacio e Pepe on the menu, but they’re not actually serving Cacio e Pepe. It’s like a bland Alfredo with some pepper sprinkled on top.

Wonderful experience! We had Michael as our server and he was fantastic and attentive. Many restaurants that we go tend to treat me and my boyfriend poorly simply because we are teenagers. However, every staff we encountered here at The Edison treated us outstandingly and just like any other customer. Thank you for such an incredible experience and the great food on top of that!

It was an interesting experience.
Wine selection was great!
Atmosphere was awesome.
Service was good aside from the waitress standing table side for an uncomfortable minute next to us and not leaving after dropping the check. Please leave after dropping the check. It’s uncomfortable when you stand there staring at me rifling my pockets.
Let’s get into the food.
Started with Ham and Cheese Croquette. Filling was bland. Came out lukewarm. Whipped honey mustard was more Dijon than anything. Also not a croquette. Croquette means small and dainty. That was a brick. Maybe that’s why when it was fried it was lukewarm in the middle. But what the hell do I know.
Cesar salad was lovely. Great croutons.
Now the entrees. Caccio e Pepe was nothing like a true one should be. And we knew this. The menu lists truffle and lemon. I’m down for a twist on a classic. However, I tasted more cream and lemon than I should’ve tasted pepper and parmesan. Where was the pepper? I don’t know. Pepper is supposed to be the star of that show. I wouldn’t have minded lemon and truffle playing support. Instead the whole point of the dish was nowhere to be found.
Also very odd choice in noodles but I anppreciate it being made in house. Also the dish came out BARELY LUKE WARM. It’s a dish made in a pan… how? There was also a hangar steak ordered as a topping for the pasta…we’ll address this in the next paragraph.
I went with the Wagyu Bevette. Picture is attached here along with the hangar steak on the pasta. Normally wagyu has a beautiful marbling to it. I ordered a medium rare. I just find it hard to wrap my head around that ALL the fat rendered out of it. It looked oddly similar to the hangar steak that was on the pasta. I could be wrong about this, and don’t want to be accusatory, this is an observation. You tell me after looking at the pictures………….
Anyways, I also could’ve done with more of the Aligot and not the overly ketchupy house made “A1” knockoff.
Also the asparagus was cold.
There’s a trend here….
Butterscotch custard barely tasted like butterscotch but wasn’t bad. Just wanted the butterscotch.
Would maybe try one more time…maybe.
Edit: I was reading other reviews and I saw a comment from the owner on another bad review from the steak. It’s been a month and your chef still has not fixed the issue of how the steak is being cut according to the grain. Figure it out.

We had high hopes, but unfortunately the experience fell flat. Disappointing service, especially considering the restaurant was nearly empty. We sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged — no water, no greeting, nothing. What made it worse was that the server was actively helping tables right next to us, including people who walked in at the same time we did. She never once came by or said a word to us.
When we finally did get service, it felt like an afterthought. Definitely not the kind of welcome you'd expect.
The service was really disappointing, which took away from what could’ve been a great meal. That said, the Edison burger was excellent and the tuna sandwich was surprisingly good — props to the kitchen for delivering on flavor.
If the service matched the quality of the food, this place would’ve been a winner

Edison is one of those rare spots where the atmosphere, staff, and food all come together seamlessly. From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, polite, and genuinely helpful — offering recommendations without being pushy, which set the tone for the night.
I tried the salmon, which was cooked perfectly — flaky on the inside with a crisp edge that gave it just the right texture. Every bite was rich and satisfying without being heavy. Alongside it, I ordered the celico pepe pasta dish, and it was a standout. Simple in concept, but incredibly well-executed, with silky noodles coated in a creamy, sauce that was deeply comforting.
Between the excellent service, thoughtful recommendations, and a menu that delivers on flavor, Edison easily stands out among Milwaukee’s downtown dining scene. Definitely a place worth revisiting.

This place is lovely and I was excited to try the Dorabe fish which was a new fish for me but it was literally swimming in butter. Nothing to counter the extreme butter taste except a few salad greens on top and 2 mandarin oranges. The fish was tasty but was overpowered by so much butter and I got a headache. Couldn’t finish it all. Just wish it was balanced by a little more acidity instead of just a pool of butter. My husband did love his salmon though and it was much better than my dish.

Our server was really sweet, and attentive enough. Food was okay. The salmon saved the entire experience from being underwhelming. I don’t think the salmon knocked my socks off, but it was high quality, and cooked well.
Ceased salad was as basic as it gets. $12 for the most mediocre salad I’ve ever had. If the establishment is going to be considered a finer place, they need to up the game on the ceaser.
For dessert, we got the pecan custard and it was sad. Looked sad. Tasted sad. I wouldn’t eat here again. But nothing was horrible. Just way overpriced for what the food is. Mid at best

ADORABLE place with HORRIBLE food and bad wine list. The menu looked amazing, but everything we ordered was extremely disappointing. We each took one bite of the $40 fish and almost couldn't swallow it. It was slimy and almost raw. The mussels were also very disappointing. And we could barely finish our $20 wines which both tasted like Yellow Tail. So we switched to their signature cocktails were the only decent thing of the night. Bottom line - great for drinks at the bar, but AVOID the food and wine at all costs!

Yesterday, my friends and I celebrated my belated birthday at The Edison—our first time there. The atmosphere was classy with a touch of industrial style, and our server, Gloria, was friendly, attentive, and on top of everything.
I had the short rib with mashed potatoes, which was delicious. To end the night, I was surprised with a complimentary slice of chocolate cake and a birthday card signed by the staff—a thoughtful touch.
Thank you, Edison, for a great first experience. I’ll be back!

My wife and I went out for a nice date night and just happened upon this place. Don't let the stars fool you. The service was great. Never overbearing and always right on time. I never once wondered where our server was. Madison was fantastic.
The mussels were a great start. The trout was good. The cheesecake was unexpectedly fantastic. I'd literally come back just for that.
All in all, do not hesitate to give this a try. You won't be disappointed.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and the food was completely underwhelming. We got the meat balls for an appetizer which were okay. My wife got the wagyu steak and I got the cacio e pepe with steak. My wife’s wagyu was chewiest and fattest piece of steak we have ever had. I know I could’ve prepared a better steak on my own grill. My cacio e pepe noodles were decent but the steak with my noodles was also chewy and fatty. Our jaws are sore from the arduous task of chewing through that steak. This is a place my wife and I were very excited to try, but unfortunately we were very underwhelmed and we will not be coming back in the future.

Amazing restaurant in the Third Ward. Staff was welcoming and always smiling. The food was delicious and satisfying. The starter salad was perfectly dressed and the ingredients were fresh and perfectly paired. The Beef Short Ribs were moist, tender and flavorful and a match for the bed of creamy mashed potatoes. The beef short rib was amazing, it was so tender it fell apart when touching it with utensils.
The atmosphere is very classy and feels almost studious.
The service was a little off, but I think it was probably due to the workload of the bartender. The only person I saw actively working was the lady behind the bar, along with what appeared to be a chef- he delivered the plate. It seemed like the lady behind the bar was taking orders for everyone at the bar, making drinks, passing silverware, cleaning, and taking payments. There were other employees present, but the restaurant had only two other tables being waited on.
The other staff were all kind. I'm just noting the workload seemed a bit excessive for one person based on what I could see.

I visited with a friend on a slow Friday afternoon. Drinks were delicious. We ordered off of the lunch menu. Food was also delicious. They have a separate happy hour menu, which we also tried. We lingered and talked, ordered more drinks and were enjoying the vibe until our server said she had to be the "bearer of bad news" and that she had several tables coming in. We saw that there were about 5 tables filled and the rest of the place was empty. Definitely killed the vibe and we won't be back. If she was concerned about tips or losing money on the table, she shouldn't have been as we ordered quite a bit and spent plenty for an afternoon. What a shame. I wanted to love this place.

Went in for a quick happy hour today with a friend (knowing the new executive chef has made some substantial changes to the menu) and I was far from disappointed! Chef Adam’s miso “cosmic brownie” was the perfect combo of nostalgic and delicious, the HH sliders were 10/10 and the HH dill pickle dip was so fun & I will be begging for the recipe for future superbowl parties. The apps are amazing, we tried the meat balls and they were soft juicy and super delicious on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes. The spirit free cocktail selection is very good compared to many other places with very limited options. The rise n shine is highly recommended with taste of real ginger. The salads and entre were very well prepared and tasty. The salmon skin was crispy and the fish was moist and flaky. The hanger steak is also highly recommended. The best entre here hands down is the cacio e pepe. Highly recommend Edison. Don't forget the dessert. Lemon Riccota cheese cake was so light and flavorful that you may get tempted to order a second one, but don't it. Try another dessert instead.

Very cool place. It’s a bit pricier than the Wahlburger it replaced but the food is 10x better. The downside was the wait times for food. The staff apologized, but it’s still pretty shocking to wait over an hour for a bison burger.
When the food did arrive it was very good. The greens were fresh, the meat was cooked to order & the portion size was generous. I would highly recommend The Edison if you’re not in a rush, as the vibe there is cool for just chilling while you wait for your food.

The atmosphere is very artfully industrious with exposed brick, well managed exposed piping, and a crowded wall of framed artwork. The bar alone is a massive piece of eye candy. The bottles are beautifully lit and contrast starkyl against the dark wood. The music played over the hidden speakers ranged from 1960s rock and roll to essential jazz which made for a perfect dinning soundtrack.
The food is good but quite pricey.
Nana's meatballs 8.2/10
Crab Cake: 6.0/10

The Edison was a great place to visit. This was my first visit and I think I will be going back. I had a Bloody Mary and Butterscotch Alexander, both were very good. I had the French Onion soup as my appetizer, which was very good. The cheese was nice and thick. I also had the Cacio E Pepe with Salmon. The Salmon was peppered to perfection. I went to The Edison for Sunday brunch and ordered the shrimp and grits, while my wife chose the Benny. My shrimp and grits were delicious, with the shrimp having a nice chargrilled flavor, and the grits were tasty as well. However, my wife's Benny had a slightly sour taste, possibly due to horseradish or sour cream, so she didn’t enjoy it as much. Overall, I liked the ambiance of the place, especially the soft jazz music playing in the background.

My husband had the ahi tuna and said it was good. I had the cacio e pepe and added grilled chicken. It was amazing. I would definitely order it again. We shared the lemon cream cheesecake for dessert & it was incredible. My only "negative" would be the table beside us was so close we were basically sitting together. We were there early (before a concert) so thankfully we were on dessert when that table got seated but it would've been a bit uncomfortable if they'd been there or entire meal. There would've been zero privacy. All in all we had a great experience and will def go back.

I came here for my anniversary; I will say the food was great but I think I got lucky with my portion. I ordered the short rib and what I noticed was majority of others who ordered had such small portions. Our service was alright, I wish our server was more knowledgeable on the drinks where they were only able to recommend what people order but that’s it. One thing I did not like is that they package the food you want to take home. When they were packing up the bison burger my girlfriend ordered, for some reason they had tossed out half of the burger just because it was cut in half. Solid 3/5.

Traveled from Chicagoland area. Had reservation for 7. Came early but were seated immediately. Service was solid. Attentive. Had an appetizer. Very tasty. Menu was tight. Not a ton of entrees but I like that. Drinks were good as well. Overall very good experience. Recommend.

We had dinner for four and the place was quite busy for a Friday night. The service was excellent as the server was quite attentive. The food was good as we had appetizers (wings), fish entrees, and really good desserts (a yummy rum cake and brulee). I recommend getting reservations if you are going on Friday or Saturday night as the restaurant was exceptionally busy.

We reserved a table at the Edison for a celebration event. The location is in downtown Third Ward so the parking is very rough (or expensive). The wait staff was good. The food was mostly decent but over priced for the quality. The drinks were so/so. Overall, a fairly unremarkable meal but a nice atmosphere.

We had the pleasure of dining at The Edison this week and had an absolutely wonderful time with friends, thanks in large part to our fantastic server, Heidi. The food was excellent overall, though one dish wasn’t prepared quite right. However, Heidi handled the issue quickly and professionally, turning what could have been a hiccup into a testament to great service. Mistakes happen, but the way they’re resolved truly defines the experience—and Heidi exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be returning to The Edison and asking for Heidi again!

Great decor and music. Food was good. However our server was less than attentive, rarely visited our table...never asked how things were or if we needed anything. Never did get our fries and she didn't even notice.
Would we come back? Yes but hope for a different server.

Great atmosphere, excellent Mac n cheese, steaks were disappointing, ordered medium rare and got it medium well at best. Much better options in Milwaukee for a $60 steak. The waitress did do a fantastic job, apologized for the over cooked steak and gave us a dicount, and the birthday cake was fantastic

We celebrated our recent elopement out west, with The Edison at home. We wanted a nicer restaurant to eat at & they were the only ones who could accommodate our party of 14 without having us pay for a private room or have a huge minimum tab.
Our server Alex was great and was able to help figure out the menu with my dad, who's a bit picky. Everyone loved the food, from our apps to our entrees to dessert. We appreciate everything, it was a great way to celebrate. We'll definitely be back in the future!! Thanks so much again!

First time here. Not sure if we will return. Let me explain.
Have read some good reviews about The Edison, so we made a 6:00 for a Saturday. The design of the dining room is stylish, fun, and comfortable. A mix of smaller tables or larger booths.
It was starting to get busy when we arrived. There were two of us, and the hosted placed us at a small table near the front door. Given that there was significant traffic there, we asked for a similar table more towards the back. The hostess was reluctant telling us that it was going to be busy/loud throughout the entire dining area, but she made the change. Glad that we did because the new area was less hectic and noisy. The two top is really a four top, with some foliage between the two sets. It was a bit odd, but less distracting than I thought.
Our server got to us right away. They were friendly, helpful and relaxed. Got us waters, and our first drinks. Helped us navigate the menu and offered suggestions. The drinks were unique and flavorful. The Old Fashioned was especially good.
Our appetizer was the Tempera Shallot. It came out quickly, was hot and crispy. We enjoyed most of it. Some pieces were larger, and the batter was not cooked as thoroughly as the rest. The black garlic Aioli was very good.
Our entrees included the Pork Chop and the Grilled Whole Branzino. They came out in a reasonable amount of time, were hot, well seasoned, flavorful sides, and nice portions. The Branzino was probably the best that I have had. The skill was nice and crispy and the flesh tender. Nice job! Both of us enjoyed them, and there were leftovers that we took home.
We had been there for about an hour, and that's when the service took a turn for the worse. Our server took a long time to come back after we had finished the meal. We noticed that they were busy with some other/larger tables. We asked to have dessert, and it took a while to even get the dessert menu. We ordered the Rum Cake, and then we did not see the server or the dessert. By then it had been 30 minutes since we finished the meal. The server finally stopped back to tell us that they were backed up in the kitchen and that it would be a little while to get us our single piece of dessert. I said that we needed to go and would no longer have the time. We quickly paid and had to leave to make it to our show at the Milwaukee Rep.
The evening was both a pleasure and disappointment. Good food, but erratic service. I would have asked for the manager to discuss and give feedback, but there was simply not enough time. There are plenty of good restaurants in downtown Milwaukee. Not sure if this is a spot that we would plan to come back to.

The Edison is such a cozy atmosphere with incredible food and service. My boyfriend and I came here & it was such a special date night. We had the pork chops and the short rib and it did not disappoint. Their cocktails were also divine. If you’re looking for a date night or just a nicer dinner venue with great service, this is definitely the spot!

I dined at an elegant bistro in downtown Milwaukee, which also operates as a butcher during the day. Finding parking was quite challenging in the area, and we had to wait for 20 minutes to secure a table outside the restaurant. Although the service was commendable, it was understandably slow due to a bustling evening. The menu offered limited and uninspired food choices. Nonetheless, the overall experience was satisfactory, likely due to the restaurant's prowess at this time.

Don’t usually write reviews but feel like talking about how good our dinner was last night. We had tempura shallots and wedge salad for apps - 11/10. Pork chop (9/10) as main and mushroom casserole and French onion gnocchi for sides (11/10) complimentary birthday flourless chocolate cake for dessert was perfect.
They made me the best dirty martini I’ve ever had. Rarely do that many dishes hit the mark and I can’t wait to go back.

1 decent appetizer and 1 passable dessert
When we arrived to the Edison’s we were greeted by the most accommodating staff. Our server was a lovely lady who provided some stellar drink recommendations. We ordered our entire meal including initial drink orders on our first touch which arguable was a bit late but the husband and I had looked at the menu ahead of time so completely fair. Our drink and appetizer food was served in a timely manner. I did mention a gluten intolerance as a side conversation to my husband in passing and our server instantly caught on. Not only did she ask if she could pass that on but came back 30seconds after our order to ensure we knew that something we ordered was not gluten free. Unfortunately the service was the only good things I have to say about our evening. The first few sips of my birds in paradise were sweet but I could taste the flavor profile. At about 1/2 through my drink became extremely watery tasting which is okay if it took an an hour to drink but I had the drink within 20 minutes of service so not sure if there was a mixing error. However my husband had a very similar experience with his ruby highball also started out as fantastic in the first 3 sips. The food overall was terrible. We had the meatballs which were STELLAR and the highlight of the evening. My husband had the French onion gnocchi which was French onion soup with boiled gnocchi baked with an excessive amount of unseasoned cheese (sadly we had to literally cut the cheese…with a knife to get through). We also had the coal fired wings. It was very clear there was in intricate dry rub on these which included thyme, paprika and Garlic. Unfortunately, none of these flavors, or any flavor, actually came through on the wings. Also there was certainly no charcoal flavor either. It was rather baffling to see these herbs and spices and not taste them. Unsure of the quality of ingredients is too blame…I then had the scallops which I was rather excited about since I love them but rarely trust they are up to par or provide a good entree. I regretted my decision almost immediately. The best things about the scallops dish was the charred allium spread. The scallops were cooked well but must have been old or lower quality as they were exceptionally fishy (I eat things like oysters, muscles and clams regularly so am not afraid of a fishy taste). The mushrooms on the plate were rubbery and dry. They did not fit with the lightness of the dish at all. There were raw purple radishes which were not enjoyable and also made no sense with the lightness of the dish. The micro green salad was overdressed or included chive micro greens lending an unpleasant onion base. And then there were the rice pucks… cakes .. which were one of the worst things I have tasted in a long time. That said if you like unseasoned rice balls with undercooked forbidden rice this may be the dish for you. My husband had a double cut coal fired durrock porch chop which was cooked to a perfectly well done state, cheddar grits which may as well have been chicken stock rehydrated polenta with no salt, and an under reduced door county cherry jus which may have been cherry water I am a little unclear. There was a slaw on the dish which was tasty. We did have a ricotta cheesecake for desert which I highly question if that was made by the establishment. This was decent but not special.
Overall I highly recommend this place if you are over 80, have very few taste buds (Covid survivor?), or enjoy under seasoned, highly questionable quality fish, and overcooked food. That said their service staff deserve a raise as they are clearly trying to make the best of a terrible situation. It is sad when they do not question taking away plates of 1/2 finished meals.
I do not write this review to obtain any action on the restaurants part. I would recommend a new head chef however.

Popped in while we were down in the 3rd Ward without reading any reviews. Giving 3 stars because my bison burger came out raw when I had asked for medium. I understand this happens sometimes, so I'm not giving a lower star rating because of that. By the time my new burger came out my wife was already done with her meal. It's just that they try too hard to make the food special and just overdid it. Salmon as the protein on the salad was great, but overall not great. Since there are so many other options in the area, we probably won't be back. We sat outside.

Visited The Edison the first night of our honeymoon. I stopped by before our reservation to drop off flowers to be put on the table, and they really went the extra step by also signing a "congratulations" card from the staff members and having complimentary glasses of champagne brought out as soon as we got there! Alex was an extremely knowledgeable server who had lots of recommendations on drinks, appetizers, and entrées. Food and drinks were outstanding. We will definitely be back next time we are in town!

I am rating based on the scale of the restaurant I believe this is trying to compete in.
The food was fine. I guess I was expecting a lot, and it kind of fell short of expectations. The prime was a bit tough, the risotto was well prepared but just not well balanced. Flavors were a bit disjointed. The salmon was good and well cooked and flavor was good.
The caramelized cauliflower was fine, but fell a bit short. Normally you would get a toasty sweetness when you caramelize cauliflower. Not bad, just not remarkable.
The desserts we pretty good the flour less cake and creme brulee were pretty good. The rum cake was pretty good, but just a tad dry.
The wine and drinks were solid.
The Staff was great! They knew the menu well and were great communicators with special requests to the chefs.
The atmosphere was actually a highlight. A great old school chop house style. Good acoustics so not overly noisy.

We came for Sunday brunch on a whim during a busy Harley Fwst weekend. We were dressed for paddling on the river so I apologized because the place looked very posh and fancy but the host laughed and welcomed us warmly stating they were glad to have us. I got seated right away outdoors (our choice) while my partner looked for parking. Gloria was our server and was fantastic. We ordered the chicken and waffles, lemon pancakes, 2 spicy bloodies and 2 coffees. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks. I enjoyed the aesthetic of the place and felt welcomed. We waited no more than 15 minutes for our food. Indoors is a beautiful, sea-green velvet booths setup with dark woods, gold and metal accents and very stylish vibe. Large gorgeous bar. Very nice and clean bathroom. We plan on returning for dinner. I had only one suggestion and that was to add a little bit more lemon cream to the pancakes; Maybe drizzle a bit on top to give a bit more of that lemon flavor. We will be returning for brunch with friends. Thanks all!

$24 for a manhattan with no warning. We ordered a $12 dollar rye, usually there is a $3 up-charge to make it a manhattan.
Caesar salad was nice. Cacio e pepe was more like mac n cheese; sauce was way too thick. The fried confit chicken is somehow fall apart tender, yet dry. Service was amazing and a nice looking place; no complaints there.

The Edison is a beautiful establishment in a A+ location. The restaurant overall for me though, comes in short. While the design is outstanding and the concept solid, for me the food and drink miss the mark. The prices are appropriate for the concept that they are trying to portray, but the food is bland and un-impressive for the price.
It remind me of another restaurant group in Milwaukee that develops a great esthetic, a nice menu- but then, comes up short where it is most important.
Brunch on a Saturday had a weird energy from a staff standpoint- and really everything just seemed mediocre. The bartender warmed up as the experience continued, but didn’t live up to the concept in my opinion.
The pigs in a blanket were just “OK” but the food runner who brought them out was very friendly. The BLT on the brunch menu was ‘eh at best. Dry and of less quality than you could make at home. Steak sandwich was tasty- and I would order that again.
The Edison has a ton of potential, is a beautiful space- but has some work to do on their cocktail and food programming. Milwaukee needs a place like this- so step it up.
