This is a wonderful little Homestead farmhouse that has been converted to a small restaurant and bar. My wife, our son and his girlfriend, and our daughter stopped by on a Saturday around 4:30 PM. We waited at the bar for a bit over a half hour. Lovely atmosphere, friendly servers and bartenders, and great food. There are zero reservations, just swing by and wait for a table. I ordered the special steak for the day, my wife ordered the Rosemary Chicken. I tried a bite of hers and the flavors were excellent! My steak was perfectly cooked. We will definitely be back again.

Hospitality at this restaurant was fantastic! Everyone was so nice. We ordered the haystack as an appetizer and the breading was just perfect. For cocktails we had an old fashioned, ol blue eyes and lil red hen. They all were delicious and just the right amount of flavor. For dinner we ordered the filet and 22 oz Ribeye. The ribeye was topped with blue cheese, bacon and mushrooms. The boyfriend said it was in his top 3 for best steaks. The filet had the garlic smash sauce and it really was a fantastic flavor. Steaks were cooked to perfection! The meals came with wild grain rice snap peas with mushrooms. I highly recommend visiting this establishment. We will definitely be back.

PERFECT place for a first date - worth the drive from Milwaukee.

The wait staff was top notch, fish fry was fantastic, and prices were so reasonable. We split both the cod and the bluegill - so hard to find bluegill anywhere else near the city! Will definitely be returning with friends, probably in the next week or so.

Went out for date night with the wife last night. I got the ribeye, she got the ny strip. We often don't go out or order steak in restaurants because 99% of the time we make it better at home. This, was the exception. I've had thousands of steaks in my life and have very high standards when it comes to meat. This was by far, the best meal I've ever had in my entire life. It was not cheap by any means, but it was absolutely incredible. The service was great, the drinks were cheap and the wait was short. IDK what they did to that ribeye but every steak i eat after this will not be as good. Hats off to the chef on this one. I haven't been here in years, but i definitely will be back

Exquisite pizzazz with a rustic aesthetic and a classical ambience. The dining room can be compact, but it is adjustable and all the workers accommodated my power wheelchair. I'm very thankful for that. Waiting for food is well worth it… especially the steak, burgers, and, my personal favorite, the beef tenderloin cooked rare, with garlic mashed potatoes. I brought my 90 y/o mother here last night for dinner. She had dined here years ago with a dear friend that recently passed away. Unfortunately we were unable to enter the restaurant as the wheelchair ramp is broken. I was informed by the owner it has been out of order for a week now.

For the majority of customers that are able to use the stairs, this is a non issue. However for us, it was the difference between enjoying a meal and reliving a cherished memory and sitting in the parking lot disappointed, thinking of what could have been, and in need of a back up plan.

Dined at Farmstead with my husband and mother-in-law on April 8th. Our initial experience at the bar was a brash bartender.
Dinner: My husband's entree arrived at table hot, and he enjoyed it. It was walleye dinner, and the only positive of the night. While watching servers bring entrees to 3 other tables my mother-in-law and I waited for our dinners. Keep in mind my husband's meal had already arrived. Luckily his was hot because he politely waited for our dinners to arrive at the table before beginning to eat. My dinner, the 6oz tenderloin entree, arrived at table overdone (I requested medium. It was most definitely medium-well.). My potatoes (steak fry type) were wet and room temperature. My vegetables were also room temperature. Very disappointing (ESPECIALLY at today's inflated restaurant charges). In hindsight, I should have said something and requested a re-do. However, that would have just interfered with my husband's and mother in law's dining experience. In addition to this overdone and room temperature food, and a significant delay to it arriving at the table, the dining room is very small (which we were familiar with from past dining experience), but the waitresses and busboys/busgirls just hover on the edge of the dining room waiting to turn a table. So unappealing and annoying. The bill was close to $200 with tip (2 entrees, a sandwich, and some cocktails), we should be able to enjoy our evening out without the hovering table attendants waiting to get us out, so they can serve the next customers. Will NOT be back!

Very small restaurant. Food was largely delicious. The shrimp was doused in a lemon sauce though and that was not disclosed. It was listed simply as "grilled shrimp". Everything else was perfection food wise and a good value. Bartender seemed completely disinterested and unfriendly. She was a competent bartender but several people at the bar noticed her foul mood. Picture don't do it justice. I ordered 22 oz steak I cut it down the middle so that why it looks a little funny. It was juicy and no A1 sauce was put on this baby. The yummy crisp onion on top this just melted in my mouth. My six year old had eaten most her fries before I could even take the picture she didn't need to catch up she said they were delicious. And their soup was delicious it was this Italian sausage at first my daughter turned her nose up on it because it looked green but she took a bite of it and she wanted to steal it from me.She did. Inside was nice and cozy and I wouldn't have found it if I wouldn't have been following my GPS why because I didn't think the house was the restaurant and let me just say now I know where it is I will definitely be back again it is worth a trip. Staff was friendly and nice they gave my daughter toys to play with while we waited and we didn't wait too long for our food. I am going back with my husband for a date night. This was a cozy little gem I am glad to find. Oh and the carrot cake was just smooth and my mouth . Which again my 6-year-old took it from me and devoured it. We went right on the dot at 4pm on a Tuesday had the place to ourselves for a minute . Then came people. The people that came were just as friendly as the staff. I agree with there sign that basically say coming as strangers leave as friends. If you're coming with a large group call make a reservation is my suggestion. Don't be afraid to try there special.

Very farm-y inside and warm decor. Great place for a date or girls night. I had the pan fried walleye and it was very good. The snap peas with mushrooms I would say we're greasy. My husband had a top sirloin steak with mushrooms. Very good, nicely seasoned. The garlic mash potatoes live up to the reviews. The old fashioned did not live up to expectations and came premixed. Had to pay for a small loaf of bread with butter. The Caesar side salad was meh

We came for dinner all the way from Nashotah, and the place was very hard to find!! No sign whatsoever, no open sign, no enter here sign. It was quite frustrating and we drove around the block several times before realizing that this house must have been the restaurant. Not sure what the deal is with signage?
Our service was excellent and the young lady attended to us promptly and politely. Overall, I would be back, but my husband would pass next time.

Started off with a tomato pepper soup which was delicious. The tenderloin steak melted in my mouth and was as great as everyone raved it'd be. The cod was over cooked and dry and not very flavorful. Overall the meal and atmosphere was great and the staff was friendly and did a great job keeping our drinks full.
