Description

Serving reinvented comfortable classics with a fresh new twist. Pull up to our spectacular bar for a fun fabulous cocktail. Come in and try our local Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned. Executive Chef Blake Schar pushes creativity in Door County. Chef Schar is strong, solid and on-point with homey, classic comfort foods, showing favor to those warm dishes that Mom use to make. Although he is not shy to admit his bias for butter and bacon, don't let the Midwest in him fool you. Chef Schar pulls on his formal training from Scottsdale Culinary Institute, searching for ways to incorporate Southwest flavors like chipotle peppers, cilantro, cumin, and ancho peppers without taking the bold flavors too far. Watch for formal elegance in his food.

Everything was perfect! The food was exceptional and the desssert was outstanding. We were in a big group, so we tried the Chicken Pot Pie, Poat Roast, Cherry BBQ Ribs, Meatloaf and the Filet Tower. The funnel cake and the creme brulé had the perfect amount of sweetness.

The staff - warm and welcoming.
The atmosphere - polished but not stuffy.
The food - Chicken feta was full of flavor.
Salmon with risotto-Parmesan cake was outstanding.
Jambalaya was authentic Louisiana with a kick.
The pear-goat cheese appetizer is a must!
If you’re visiting Egg Harbor, put this on your list of places to eat.

Five stars does not seem adequate for the Fireside Restaurant. I live in a small tourist town in Minnesota with excellent restaurants, but driving to Door County and experiencing the food, atmosphere, and all the people who work there, (including the owners and staff)….always exceeds my expectations. Bravo!!!

We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Fireside, and it was truly a five-star experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with a nice, quiet vibe and both indoor and outdoor seating options. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, making the evening feel extra special.

The food was outstanding—truly one of the best meals we’ve ever had. I had the Wildberry salmon, and my husband had the Jamaican jerk cod, both cooked to perfection and full of flavor. We finished the night by sharing a pumpkin spice bread pudding that was absolutely delicious.

This is a place we’ll remember and one we’d highly recommend to anyone visiting Egg Harbor!

This is one of our favorite spots in Door County. Food service and atmosphere are outstanding!
I had the Maytag filet mignon and it was accompanied with asparagus and potato hash. The Blue cheese sauce added a wonderful element to the steak which was perfectly done medium rare. The potato hash wasn't too exciting, and I should have switched it out for a baked potato. My husband had the shrimp and grits and devoured the entire dish! The French baguette served with herbed olive oil is also something worth ordering - crispy crust and soft on the inside.
Our server Ame was polite, prompt and helpful.

If you only go to one restaurant in Egg Horbor, this should be the one. The food here is amazing! It is a little pricey but totally worth it. All 4 of our meals were unique and delicious. Best prime rib I've had in a long time and was served the exact temp I asked for, Rare. Service was excellent too. We will be back for sure. My only complaint it that it closes too early, but so does every other restaurant in Egg Harbor.

Fireside is one of the best restaurants in Door County! We absolutely loved the food when we visited the restaurant; so much that we actually had them cater our wedding in Door County. Probably the best southern food you'll get in this part of the state. The Hushpuppies are phenomenal. The nest grits I've had in the North. Jambalaya leaned a little heavily on seasonings like Old bay, but this is still an excellent bet. Lunch is a relatively quiet time if you can't get in for dinner.

The food’s flavor is good, but all the things is too too too salty, even including the fries and the soup. We told the server that our soup is a little bit salty, but the jumblaya that comes after is even much more salty….. Absolutely amazing southern cuisine with a twist. All of the items we had here were well balanced and delicious twists on classic Louisiana food.

I had the shrimp with goat cheese grits. It has spinach and tomatoes in it which add good flavor. The goat cheese is not overpowering and made the dish really interesting. I sampled the bourbon salmon and jambalaya. The salmon was fantastic, hardly fishy, and tasted very fresh. The best part was the risotto pancake type thing. It was a perfect balance of creamy and seared risotto. The jambalaya was a little strong, a little too salty, but was still good and a tad spicy. It was loaded with sausage and chicken.

Service was really excellent. Our waiter was attentive and helped us pick menu items.

Overall fantastic experience, would definitely want to go again.

We had a reservation for 7pm. Didn’t sit down until almost 730pm. The owner came over and apologized after we asked for something to be made up for our wait, as it impacted our post-eating plans. Extremely unimpressed that it was brushed off and were just told “sorry it’s the last day of the season, and those were locals at the table before you.” So unprofessional to not make it up to us and take priority to locals when everyone should be given the same amount of respect.
We also never got our tiny waters refilled until we asked after our food came. This was NOT worth the price!!!

Great food but the service was very poor. We waited at our table for at least 30 minutes before the waiter in training brought our water. Our waitress walked by our table countless times, only to twice say she would be with us. Didn't happen. Finally another waiter stopped by, who immediately told us that he was not our server but that he wanted to tell us what the specials were. We asked him to take our drink and appetizer order which he did. About 20 minutes later one of our drinks arrived. After 10 minutes of waiting for the other drink we finally had to ask for it. The restaurant was not that busy on a Thursday night. Worst service I have ever experienced!!

Delicious food and fantastic service! Will definitely be back! I came here for my 50th birthday, prior to a Peninsula Players Theatre show with my sisters and daughter. It did not disappoint. I had the butternut squash ravioli, and the chocolate peanut butter whiskey cake. Both were excellent. The ravioli was in a brown butter sauce that enhanced the squash wonderfully. The decadent desserts served here are hand made and not to be missed! My daughter had the chicken nuggets and fries off of the kids menu. She loved the nuggets. They looked and tasted to be house made and not out of a box. My sisters had the shrimp and grits, and the French onion meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Beautiful presentation and lots of food, for all of us! They had beignets, a strawberry cake, and a gluten free berry ice cream dessert. All fantastic! Not a single complaint. Our server was also very helpful and had a smile the entire time. She actually seemed happy to be there and to be serving us. I was impressed. Try it! You won't be disappointed. Sorry, I don't have pictures of everything. Trust me, it was fantastic!

I’m an observer and I pay attention to detail. I noticed that each server not only paid attention to their own table but helped out other tables as they walked by. Not one somber employee which told me they really enjoyed what they did and who they worked for. Then I watched who I assumed was the head chef come out serving food and was impressed. I haven’t seen this happen in years. I’m from the south and used to see this often, but again it’s been years. He too smiled and greeted others. Once we ordered and my grands colored (their coloring sheet was a dog) our server told them the owner which was the chef (the man I assumed) that was good dog and he loved kiddos. He just happen to be walking by and heard the convo. Introduced himself and talked to the kids about his fur baby. Great man and people all around.

Then the food comes and not one word one spoken at the table. The food portions were overwhelmingly shocking. I travel for food. So I was shocked to see the portions for this type of establishment. You will not be disappointed. And the flavor, taste and combinations were nothing short of spectacular. I plan to return here every chance I get when I travel up north.

Sorry about the food pictures we needed to try. I ordered the Borboun Salmon, friend had the jambalaya ,daughter had the chicken and waffles and grandson also had the kids chicken and waffles.
Thank you amazing service!!

I might have just had the best meal I’ve ever had.

My wife and I arrived about 4:45pm at the fireside Egg Harbor. From the moment we walked in we were treated to like family. The Drinks are perfect, the appetizers are crazy good(you have to try the Buffalo cauliflower, and the staff is well trained and engaging.

We walked in knowing what we wanted, a good Old Fashioned and the Jambalaya I had a could years ago. When a staff
Member told me about the evening’s special, a 10oz Jamaican Jerk Tenderloin served over a Yorkshire pudding with an apple glaze

It was absolutely the perfect blend of spices, sweetness, and the Tenderloin was done to perfection. Hats off to the Chef, this meal was perfect!

We greated by who we shortly found out was the owner Lauren. Very charming lady. When I noticed the Menu definitely had a Nawlins, LA flair to it, I ask if she wqs from there. She said no but her Husband (The Executive Chef) was.
The Food was outstanding however the service was lacking at best. Our Soup was delivered pretty quickly and was delicious, but our entrées followed very soon, before I could eat even half my soup.
I order the Shrimp Jambalaya and my wife had the Grilled Shrimp and Cheese Grits. Like I said both were excellent!
An Expeditor brought our main dishes to us and we didn't see our waitress for a good 15 minutes. When she (Cheryl) finally broke away from a party of 10, she visited our table to ask if we'd like more drinks. My wife ordered another Wisconsin Old Fashion and I told Cheryl I'd wait a few minutes as I had only drank half of mine at this point.
A good 20 minutes or more past when the Waitress bothered to stop by, at which point I as for another Old Fashion. Meanwhile we finished our meal while we watched her basically hover over her party of 10 that obviously arrived much before us so shouldn't have needed that much attention half way through our meal.
My wife tried flagging her down as she passed within 4 feet of our table. She just kept walking. I was able to summon the owner and have her cancel my drink. She returned with it on the house. That's not the fix I was looking for. At this point we were well past wanting to leave.
This place is highly recommended by others. The owner never apologized for the poor service. Just tried to throw her money at it and ignored the real issue.
One more thing. They charge $7 for bread service. My wife and I are keeping our carb intake down as much as possible. I understand there can be a tremendous amount of waste when restaurants just bring a bread basket without asking and sometimes it goes to waste. Their prices are already high enough that if the simply ask if patrons would like some bread with their meal. They don't even have crackers for your soup.
This all happened on a Saturday and while they got pretty busy as our meal went on, at no point was there a wait at the door.
I think this place is poorly managed. Our server wasn't like a young person. She was middle aged and should know how to give good efficient service. She was focused only on her largest table I guess because of a guaranteed large tip. Consequently, we left a smaller rip than we normally would have even for average service.
This place in my opinion only has what I call the McDonald's Syndrome. They don't care because if you don't by their food someone else will. Sad way to run an otherwise outstanding business.

The food and hospitality is worth it!

Had a large group of multiple couples for which they had a large table set up in the side room alongside another large group. We were taken great care of as though our server was assigned solely to our party. Not sure but that's certainly how it felt :) she was extremely attentive, everything came out in a timely manner especially the food from the kitchen which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Always great appetizers and food we have been here a number of times now, tried the camel this time, would highly recommend! Thanks Blake & Lauren, you have an awesome team, love Mary K!

Nice, lively destination for dinner in Egg Harbor. My wife and I had dinner here on a Saturday in October. The wait was pretty crazy, so I recommend planning well if you plan to eat here. It describes itself as Creole, but I don't know that I'd call it that. Sure, there are a few Creole inspired dishes, but there's also plenty of regular American fare.

We started with the Buffalo Cauliflower appetizer, and it was honestly the highlight of the night. I've had attempts like this at other places, but they are often disappointing. Not so here. Breaded, well fried, and just enough buffalo flavor.

For our meals we split a burger and the Jambalaya. I would call both only ok. The Burger was mostly standard and forgettable. A little on the dry side. The Jambalaya was WAY on the dry side. It also really lacked in the spiciness department, which is something I'm looking for in that particular dish.

So the Buffalo Cauliflower alone was worth the trip, and I also appreciated that they offered Sprite Zero. Most places are Diet Coke or nothing for non drinkers like my wife and I. Lastly, it wasn't crazy overpriced, which can happen in Door County at some places. I think we would try the place again, nothing was too far off the mark.

Great restaurant! Be sure to get reservations in advance but once you’re in it’s all good. Good location and ambiance, pretzel is big… like BIg! (and good).try the camel! And the pasta is solid, not overly saucy but so tasty!

Ribs are rock solid! Overall great location, great food and service was top shelf.

Almost $70 for two meals. The food was great but I it was insulting how little pasta came with my dish. You should not have equal parts protein and carb. I finished my meal in 4 minutes and was still hungry after waiting over an hour to be seated.

The food we ate at Fireside was excellent. Lobster, crab, andouille hush puppies were great. My wife ordered the salmon with bourbon sriracha sauce and loved it. My Jambalaya was also excellent. So why only three stars? When we arrived a little after 4 pm the hostess seated us at a table for two which was up against a wall in the walkway from the kitchen to all of the other tables. Not exactly a choice location. There were many other tables open, most of which seated 4 people. We assumed that was why we were seated where we were. As we waited for our food we watched the hostess seat multiple parties of two at these open tables. With our appetizer on the table in front of us it was a little late to ask to be reseated. When the check came I noticed in fine print at the bottom that there is a 3.5% service charge for credit transactions. When standard credit processing fees for credit transactions are in the neighborhood of 2% why gouge your customers. It's also rather disingenuous to indicate that you "have an ATM on site for your convenience" when that ATM also charges 3% to withdraw $100. When you know most of your patrons will likely pay with credit why not just set your prices to cover the cost of those transactions. As it was, after a great meal I left with a bad taste in my mouth.

We were seated in the pub which was fine. The service was great. I had the calamari that was decent but not the best. I did have a great peal and eat shrimp dish that we very flavorful. I also had the fried cheesecake which was amazing!! My husband had their burger which he thought was blah with little flavor. The old fashioned was good but I had better the day before. It was s decent meal.

I had to take off one star as soon as we walked in the door since we were immediately exiled into the pub because we had 3 small children. The other star was because of the slow service and somewhat forgetful. If this review was solely on food, I would give this chef and kitchen staff 5 stars. The food was fantastic! I never would have thought I would eat camel, but it was great! My wife's chicken Florentine was also very good. I would definitely recommend the food but if you have kids skip unless you want to be put in the rejected customer room.

The restaurant itself was nice. Server was great and he gave us the perfect amount of attention and space. Good atmosphere and the food was really good. Only complaint is the owner(?) was speaking loudly with a group at a table next to us and it was a bit over the top. We did not appreciate the “look at me and how awesome me and my family are” catty conversation. I suggest being a bit more humble save the catty tone for your personal Facebook, not your customers.

I wish I would have taken a picture of my beautifully presented, AMAZING ribs! Also, we walked in around 9:15 on a Sunday night, clearly, they were closing, HOWEVER, a super-friendly, amazing hostess asked us what she could do, we asked to eat, she checked with the kitchen, and they were able to offer us the entire menu still! Additionally, my sons ordered the steak and fries, AMAZING, my ribs, AMAZING, the tomato bisque soup, AMAZING. THE SERVICE, AMAZING! I couldn’t recommend this place any more, this is a TRUE hospitality haven, with amazing food!!!

Had an amazing experience! Taylor, our server was very friendly and helpful. We started with hush puppies for an appetizer which was good. For dinner: jambalaya and pork belly confit. The grilled asparagus and cheese risotto were a perfect compliment. We didn’t leave room for dessert, but will definitely come back again!

My wife and I decided to check this place out as it said New Orleans style and we love some Southern cooking! Rosie our amazing server helped us quickly find drinks and some delightful specials! But the one that really got me was when she said Camel, yes Camel, with Grits and green beans! We always try exotic meats, having had bison, kangaroo and ostrich before, but Camel here was the better than most steaks I have had! The empenada appy and key lime dessert were perfect way to round it out. Can't wait to go back!

While it took 14 minutes to be acknowledged and asked about having a drink even while sitting at the bar, I'm glad we choose this place for dinner. Once we finally got a drink, the old fashion was really good and rest of our time was a great experience. The chicken and waffles, topped with their home made maple syrup, was probably the best ive ever had. More than enough food and i have left overs for tomorrow. We also had the ratatouille lasagna which was excellent. While the waitress was younger (high school maybe), she was well trained for finer dining and we had great service. Long for something different than bar food you'll find at most other places in the area, check out fireside, glad we did!

On Wednesday, my wife and I went to Egg Harbor to do some biking, then listen to music in the park and decided on dinner the Fireside Restaurant. The venue is very nice, outside covered seating with a view for people watching. The food was wonderful. My wife had the Big Easy Jambalaya and it had such strong Louisiana flavoring with every bite. Every forkful seemed to have a sausage in it, not like some Jambalaya. I ordered the Monterey Shrimp and goat cheese grits. Plenty of fresh shrimp and the grits where done perfectly, the goat cheese added a subtle flavoring. Although I didn’t see any goats, I do know where to see goats. Both dishes were a perfect portion size and our waitress was very nice.

I wish I had taken more pictures because the presentation was beautiful, but we are here for the food. Get this chef a star!! We were seriously impressed with the food. We had been to the coffee breakfast side but had we known what was going on in the dinner spot…the food. We did the hush puppies and I would have ate them as a stand alone. They were perfectly balanced and not overly weighed down with mostly cornmeal. The aioli, I would put that on anything. We don’t normally do drinks at dinner but the hard cider I drank 2. Crisp and sweet without being over sweet. I had a nice slow buzz. I got the Porkbelly and risotto with grilled asparagus. Blew my mind good. Husband had the jambalaya and loved it. What impressed us was that each item was cooked perfectly on top of the flavor being out of this world. We were full but brought the fried cheesecake home. I’m not ashamed to say that I ate that too. Overall best thing we’ve had here.
