Been trying to go to The Good Wives Restaurant for a long time! Well.... yesterday was the day! We opted to go there for breakfast! My ONLY regret is NOT going here sooner! The food was EGG-CELLENT, service was great and the atmosphere is relaxing! I had the Eggs Benedict! I can honestly say it's the BEST one I've ever had! The eggs were poached perfectly and the ham was cut thin. I've always despised thick cut ham for Eggs Benny so this was right up my alley! BUT the showstopper was the hollandaise sauce! HANDS down the best I've ever had! BONUS - the shoe string hash browns were crispy, cooked and seasoned wonderfully!

My better half had the Eggs En Cocotte. My sampling of this was also great, tasty and aesthetically pleasing! I also looked at this on the menu but I'm a sucker for Eggs Benny.....next time! Next we go here for lunch or din din!

Visited here for the first time for brunch and it did not disappoint! The breakfast options available were all delicious! I was told the omelet options were great, bacon was delicious, (just a little too fatty though), pancakes were good as well! (Just make sure to ask for extra syrup!)

Lovely experience. My ribeye was done exquisitely (MR) and came with an Italian salsa verde (chimchurri) and fresh tomatoes.. frites were nice, a bit salty for my taste . Wife has perfectly cooked cod and potatoes.

Our family needed a restaurant with vegetarian options that would take Sunday reservations for a larger group. Our group ranged in ages from 4 to 98 years of age.

Great atmosphere and phenomenal customer service. The 98 year old uses a walker and had no issue getting into the restaurant or up to the table. The individual taking the reservation, the hostess, and our server were all very friendly and accommodating. None of us saw the bottom of a cup because the server was so attentive!

The vegan sausage was delicious, the coffee amazing, and the hash browns - mind blowing! The portions were perfect. Even with a larger group all of our food came out at once and was so fresh and tasty. Everyone in our group was beyond satisfied with their orders.

We will definitely be back!

Arrived from out of town. Thought we’d try this place because of high ratings and unique menu. Had reservations for 7 pm. Arrived a little before and was seated after 5 minutes. Ordered our food pretty quickly. Didn’t receive our order until 50 minutes later. The waitress kept filling our water glasses, but never acknowledged the wait. The food was okay. Fairly quaint atmosphere. I really wanted to like this place. The service was just so slow.

Honestly, their food is *phenomenal*! And they have the best brunch menu with appropriate prices! You can't go wrong with any of their food.

Our favorite brunch choices are the incredible Chicken and Waffles (perrrrfect blend of sweet and salty), Good Wives hash, Biscuits and Gravy, and Eggs Benedict (Finally! A good sauce!). Mouth. Drooling. And this is coming from someone who has eaten foods around the world and not just bland and basic Midwest food. The service is so friendly and on top things. The food will make you want to come back every week. And you also can't go wrong with their desserts and drinks. We love this place and come here at least every other weekend for brunch. HIGHLY recommend!

'The Good Wives' is my go to place for a dinner or weekend breakfast. The staff and the vibe create the perfect atmosphere to enjoy the creative and delicious dishes that seem to be so thoughtfully inspired by the season. The menu rotates every few weeks, creating such anticipation each time I walk through their door. The mushroom, spinach & gruyere omelet with their crispy nest of finely shredded hash browns is the breakfast that I compare all others to (no comparison!). The small plates, salads and entrees for dinner have always been great, you honestly won't go wrong with whatever you order. The cod dish with crispy type of herbs and a puree underneath is my all time favorite. Oh, I almost forgot the seasonal inspired cocktails!!...and the panna cotta with red wine reduction, I could go on forever!

Overall, I have visited this restaurant three times and have been impressed with the food and service each time. It gets better every time we go. The atmosphere has shown improvement with a nice bar and elegantly crafted cocktails. The ingredients and food is fresh with a changing menu. This is not the norm of restaurants in the Eau Claire area. The good wives is a refreshing change in the dining experience of the Chippewa Valley.

We visited last night, it was a group get together.. I went into it optimistic and I left very underwhelmed. From the menu that lacked any variety for all guests, We had elderly that needed simplistic and cost friendly, I feel you don’t consider all of that when making your menu. So for dinner, The chicken thigh was so small that it looked like a piece of potato, all of us who had walleye was full of bones, it was disappointing and very bland. So I don’t want to be truly negative, but 6 of the 8 disliked everything. I also have to mention at the end Allie set all of the card holder with our receipts, 6 of them in front of me and said have a good night and left. Very unprofessional and arrogant.I wish that you would consider a little variety for all, Most of our group won’t revisit, but I wanted you to know how we felt.

The Good Wives restaurant is amazing.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But if your opinion isn’t the above, you are wrong. I know this, because we visit here every two weeks (without the kids, because we’d like to enjoy it) and without exception the food, drinks, and service have always been exceptional.

As an example of a differing opinion, one reviewer wrote ‘menu sucks’. This is exactly the kind of helpful, insightful, commentary that allows a business to grow and evolve to better meet the customer’s needs. I can, however, confirm that the menu does not suck. In fact, I would counter that the person who wrote this, in fact, is the one who sucks. And is a stupid-head.

The menus are actually ever changing, and - I can’t say this without sounding like the sort of person who complains if the food isn’t deconstructed in some way, and presented as the concept of love, but using only carrots - I have eaten at several Michelin starred restaurants around the world. The food and drink here is genuinely on a par with all of them.

Every component of a dish or cocktail complements another, and that takes some real skill - and to do that consistently with every dish is truly world-class. No matter what we try, the flavor experience is amazing, and somehow the wait for this scratch-made, on demand food, is no longer than at any other restaurant.

Oh, another reviewer wrote ‘the atmosphere is dark, tacky designs, and not inviting’. I mean - It’s not dark - they have windows and everything. There’s a door that opens and people welcome you in, and the designs are… cool? Like, who even needs to write that? Who goes to a restaurant and is like - ‘I need to warn people about the decor here - the walls clash with the curtains. PEOPLE. MUST. BE. TOLD.’.

The service is great - Friendly, knowledgeable people who can make great recommendations, or even just discreetly fill your water as your wife is telling you in no uncertain terms to stop typing reviews while we’re trying to eat.

I truly cannot emphasize enough what a great Restaurant this is. All I can say is eat here. Or you’re wrong.

And very possibly, a stupid-head.

Went here this morning for brunch as we're on a road trip and saw the excellent reviews so we were super excited to try this place out! This was one of the most disappointing brunch experiences we've had. Firstly, the atomopshere is dark, tacky designs, and not inviting. The servers (and possibly owner?) were talking extremely loudly at the bar the entire time we were there. This is a very small restaurant and there was no consideration on their end to realize that talking about personal conversations such as taking Prozac, isn't appropriate when customers are 10 feet away... Besides all this we at least expected amazing food from the reviews. Food took very long to come out. I got a ham and cheese omelette with hash browns, my boyfriend got the eggs benedict, and we shared the pancakes. The food was cold, bland, and below par. The pancakes were the only decent plate of food we got because they're definitely made from pancake box mix. I would highly recommend going ANYWHERE ELSE as this place was extremely disappointing!!!

My Boyfriend and I visited for the first time for my birthday. Hands down BEST RESTAURANT in Eau Claire. The food? Phenomenal. The service? Outstanding. The vibes? Immaculate. I had the confit duck and it was so good, it fell off the bone and the fondant potatoes were out of this world. We started with the French fries and they were amazing, salty, hot, and had a little spice. The aioli was the perfect condiment for them! My boyfriend had the seafood risotto and it was delicious!! We split the cucumber salad and it was tangy and delicious! The pot de crème was to die for. My boyfriend had the Peach Pie and it smelled amazing! The Good Wives is a wonderful establishment. Food is awesome, drinks are phenomenal, and the staff is always super attentive. Only gripe is that their in a strip mall and not down town! I hope to watch the business grow and evolve. Highly recommend.

A delicious, memorable meal! Each dish was thoughtfully composed with beautiful, fresh ingredients.
The watermelon and halloumi appetizer was delightful and full of contrasts. The Mississippi micro-green and cucumber salads were standouts, each packing a little bit of a spicy punch. (Don't get me started on the pickled strawberries...)
I loved the vegan corn cake entree - rich, creamy yet light, and some nice spice in the vegan sausage. My dining partner had the cioppino, a beautiful seafood dish with a tomato and fennel broth served with crusty bread. It looked gorgeous and he said the flavors were on point.
For dessert, we indulged in both choices - chocolate pot de créme and a mocha walnut torte. The pot de créme was outstanding. The torte had great flavor but I wish there had been more textural contrast.
I had no idea Eau Claire harbored such a wonderful restaurant, and I look forward to returning.

I don’t give five stars lightly.

This place is the best food in town , amazing service and desserts by “mama” Nancy, I mean come on. Our 8 month old even loved trying a couple dishes.

Been waiting for the right time to go here and wow is it worth it. You get your money worth on the drinks too. Strong but delicious as they should be.

I will say I come from more city areas , have been disappointed with many local options except for this one, the price and quality of food all seemed great to me.

Had brunch here a few months back. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, but most importantly the food is delicious. Side order of bacon comes with 4 slices (that's a lot compared to other breakfast spots) and the thinly grated hasbrowns were amazing! The menu is small which is helpful for those bad at making decisions :). Would definitely come back to try dinner options.

Stopped in to try a new restaurant for brunch. Experience started out good but took a turn after we ordered. Our food never came. We waited over an hour. We observed one group of people that walked in just before us order, get food, eat and pay. We saw 3 other couples that came in 10 minutes or more after we did and they all received their food and 1 couple ate and paid. The whole time the waitress was avoiding our table. We finally were able to get her to come over and she said she would check on our order. She came back and said our order wasn't back by the cook and she put it there. We did leave without eating. I feel the service was terrible. Will never go back to this restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone. 👎

We checked out the menu online before going. It must change often. It was different from the one someone took a picture of 1 month ago. It is fine dining quality food in a
relaxed atmosphere which is hard to find in Eau Claire. The vegan option was incredible, so much flavor which is exactly what we were looking for.

Great food with a seasonal rotating menu. We had the lox appetizer, tenderloin medallions and duck confit and a bottle of wine. Since we’ve visited, they got a full liquor license and will not serve cocktails. Dinner is Wednesday through Saturday. They have a weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday which I have not had but I heard it’s delicious. Friendly service.

I was very excited to try this restaurant because it came highly recommended by my colleagues. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving before our food was served. I was unable to have my initial entree that I ordered because they were out of it by 6:20pm, so I ordered something else. When our ticket time reached 50 minutes, I was ready to try another establishment for dinner. I will spare the other disappointments, but I hope this place can make some improvements and be successful.

We were excited to go here for the first time on Valentine's... made reservations ahead of time. Service was lacking! Had to wait over an hour after ordering to get our food and our app was forgotten. Not many options for restricted diets either so make sure to check the menu ahead of time!

Our first visit for Sunday brunch was a great experience. Excellent waiter and delicious food. I enjoyed their unique take on biscuits and gravy with the cheddar-chive biscuit and delicious sausage. My table mates tried the Good Wives Hash and the Breakfast Salada and said they were great.

Food was good quality. I would love to know where it is sourced. (I am assuming its all local) I am all for a changing menu, but it would be nice to know before you sit down what menu items they are going to have. Especially in 2023, eveything is so easy to upload, or even just a menu in the window. I am so excited to try a steak or beef option. I am not a fan of most chicken dishes if I am going out to eat, that's what we had tonight. It was decent and I would recommend it to others. But was all hyped up for (hoping for) the beefstew that was on their sample menu.

Looking for Sunday Brunch options. One person does not eat red meat and prefers vegetarian or vegan fair, and the other goes along with these tastes at home, but when out socially is a happy carnivore! The Good Wives to the rescue! The atmosphere, vibe, and wait staff immediately shifted us into a relaxed, comfortable, and slower paced experience. The food did not disappoint, one had the vegan omelete and the other the braised beef hash. We are already planning a return to sample more menu options. HIGHLY recommended.

My first time here and I loved it! We showed up late to our reservation and the staff was super nice and accommodating. Got the fries as an app and they were delicious, with a great size serving. My friend got the lamb chops, which we’ve both never had lamb, and it was delicious along with its sides. Then I got the chicken and dumplings, very fresh and light with so many flavors! Lastly we finished with a dessert, can’t remember the name but it was chocolate with whipped topping and slight hints of salty crunchiness. We also had wine to pair with it all, which of course was great. Atmosphere was great loved the vibe and the bathrooms were super cute. I think the food is priced accordingly and worth it! Would definitely go back and recommend to others.

The Wife and I had an amazing brunch to finish the year on 12-31-22. We plan on coming back and trying dinner. Service and experience were great; the food was amazing. What a great new place for Eau Claire! When I took my first bite of food I was surprised at how much flavor there was. What a fantastic restaurant. The prices are VERY fair for the quality of food. I went last night (12/8/22) and am already planning when to come again. The food is prepared perfectly. It is a smaller menu but anything you get is going to be good. Very nice atmosphere and wait staff as well as owners. I really hope this business doesn't try to go big too fast because that is what can lower food and service quality.

New place with hipster vibes and an eclectic feel to it. The food was very rustic. We paid around 145$ for 2 people to eat dinner. In my opinion everything on the menu should be priced 5$ lower.
