Decent meal. We went on a Friday night and were able to get a table fairly quickly. Prices are good. Most of us got the fish fry, which was a bit heavy on the breading for my liking. Our waitress was friendly. The atmosphere is similar to other Wisconsin supper clubs.

Our seating was opposite of the bar near the entryway and the partition wall greatly isolated the bar racket. We ordered the NY strip and the slow roasted prime rib. Fries, scalloped potatoes, and chili were sides. The fries had been sitting long enough to be only warm, but I could tell when they were fresh they would have had a good subtle crisp. The scalloped potatoes and chili were great. The NY was seasoned well and was perfectly cooked to medium. The 24-hour slow roasted prime rib (Saturdays) was very tender, though the flavor could have been better. The aus jus saved it and was good. We decided to also order the desserts of a grasshopper (one of the best I've had) and cheesecake. This was house made pumpkin cheesecake and was of a generous portion. My wife and I would eat here again. We might have to come back sooner than expected for more chili! Keep an eye out for drunk townies. Some dude in his 60's with a group thought it was a good idea to quickly fake lunging out in front of my car as I was pulling in. It was 5pm. Bro, you gotta live long enough to get SSI and your AARP card. Be less stupid.

We were so excited to go and enjoy and unfortunately we were all disappointed with our meals. We had the prime rib, bbq ribs, relish tray, pork chop, and broasted chicken. So basically we tried a ton of different dishes and none of them were good and our waitress treated us like we were an annoyance to her. Unfortunately, we probably won’t go back. I hope you all have a different experience as we always want local businesses to thrive.

Favorite prime rib I’ve had in quite a long time. Edge to edge medium rare, delicious wedge salad. Not a huge fan of the old fashioned but the blackberry old fashioned was tasty.

Typical Wisconsin supper club with a very well stocked salad bar, great atmosphere, and excellent food. The old fashioneds are great but the best draw are the cheese balls and crackers at the bar. So get there before your reservation time and have a cocktail at the bar!

Food and waitstaff were excellent for a Wednesday night fish fry.
The bartender did nothing to make us feel welcome and we were the only ones at the bar and was actually downright rude when asked a simple question. Ruined an otherwise great evening.

We ordered the king size prime rib and split it between the two of us (reasonable $5 split plate charge). The meat was cooked exactly to our order and was delicious. All the sides ( those that came with meal and the extras we ordered) were also very good. The bar drinks were well made. The desserts (a grasshopper and a crème brûlée) were scrumptious. The ambiance is a bit dated, but did not take away from the food, excellent attentive staff, or experience. We had reservations, but could have been quickly seated without them, but we came shortly after they opened and the parking lot was filling up by time we left. Highly recommend.

We stopped at the Hilltop Supper club for the first time last night. There is a nice bar off to the right when you walk in; the dining area is dimly lit (as a supper club should be.) They seated us right away. The service is polite and quick. Old fashioneds were good, the menu was a little limited and they have no salad bar...i hate that few supper clubs have them anymore. The soup was good, filet was very good, the prime had a lot of fat but was tender. We finished with a smores ice cream drink which we both enjoyed. All in all, I would definitely go back.

I guess all good things come to an end...

We have loved coming to Hilltop for prime rib since discovering it 5 years back. Fast forward to now. The last two times we came, the side dish was mediocre, and the prime rib was hit or miss (mine was mostly fat; my wife and daughter's were good cuts). However, this Saturday we made reservations two days prior for our daughter's 21st birthday, and brought her significant other. Upon arriving right on time for our reservation, we were told we would be seated soon. 30 minutes later, we finally get a seat. We then sat for another 20 minutes before our waitress came over, but whatever. We then ordered the Saturday special-four prime ribs, but the waitress comes over a few minutes later to let us know they were now out of prime rib. While I know this can happen, they should have informed us BEFORE we waited and then sat down. I would be more understanding if this was an odd night, or this restaurant was new or inexperienced, but Hilltop really has no excuse after all these years in business. We were recommended by another customer to go to Heritage Tavern in Cross Plains, and everything was 100% better. Our new go-to from now on.

My husband and I ordered the prime rib and it was both cold and incredibly bland. My son ordered the broasted chicken (which was good) with a side of grilled shrimp that was again bland and charred. They have a relatively limited menu on Saturday so we hoped what they offered they did well - unfortunately that was not the case. Pretty disappointing for a first impression and for the price I’d hesitate to go back.

When I think of Supper Clubs, this is place is exactly what comes to mind. Dont let the interior distract what lays in wait inside.
A wide range of entrees and drinks available.
I had the porterhouse pork chop which was good. You can get it anyway you'd like. I had mine medium well and it was done perfectly.

I will certainly come back if in the area.

We were in Cross Plains and saw that this place had great reviews. They have great food too. So good that I forgot to take pictures. They serve you rolls with honey butter to start. We had side salads with homemade dressings. We shared a large piece of salmon with fries and a filet with au gratin potatoes. Everything was delicious. We had carrot cake for dessert. It was pretty good. I should have asked them to warm it up. It is always better that way.

Made a one day visit to Madison, and decided to have dinner at a "Supper Club" and this did not disappoint!! Had a rustic vibe, but clean, well appointed and felt updated enough as well. We were informed that a group of 45 was ordering as we arrived, and the hostess let us know that we may have a longer wait, but if we odered quickly they might be able to sneak in our order ahead of thiers. They got our appetizer in(cheese curds omg so delightfully light and perfect) and our dinner order came out shortly after, so they really pulled it off. Our food was perfectly cooked(filet, and fish fry) and the service was attentive and welcoming.
I was impressed and enjoyed every minute of this quintessential Wisconsin experience. Only 10 or 15 minutes from the west area of Madison, we stayed at a hotel in the mall area. Check this place out!

Excellent service and fried shrimp Rocked! but seasoning on prime rib and au jus was less than desirable as in no seasoning. Also, I notice a dirty broken window. If I’m gonna spend 30-40 dollars on a steak or fish plate you’d expect the window at the front entrance to be fixed. Fancy prices should have fancy upkeep

While I can appreciate the dimming of lights in a dining room, if it’s too dark to read the menu, it’s going to be too dark to see what’s on your plate! Such was the case last night for our table of six. Three of us ordered prime rib. It was the most gristled cut of prime rib I’ve ever almost seen or tasted! Coupled with the dull, years-old lightweight steak knives, our choice of meat was disappointing, to say the least. One in our group ordered the baked salmon. Due to the darkness in the dining room, eventually he figured out that reason his salmon wasn’t hot is because it was raw and cold in the center. Excellent cheese ball at the bar, but you couldn’t give me all the cheese balls in the world to get me to try this tired supper club again.

Great drinks, fish fry and you definitely have to save room for the ice cream cocktails to end the night on. There are so many wonderful, delicious things about this family owned business, I don’t know where to begin. The Hilltop is a Supper Club in the truest definition. From the friendly hostesses, the bartenders speed and the servers efficiency is only topped by the chefs magic. First things first, a must have …an old fashion of course. They muddle the sugar cube with the goodness. Complimentary homemade cheese balls are set out at the bar on Friday and Saturday. ( They are also on the menu, so order 1 to take to your next party) My favorite menu item is the combo. A 6oz fillet and 4 shrimp. The filet is so tender, a butter knife will cut it! The shrimp can be ordered grilled, fried or bourbon glazed. Homemade soup, deserts and other goodies are amazing. You will leave here with a happy tummy and heart!

Disappointed actually. Service was good, but food was mediocre at best. Full portion of baked Friday Fish ($18) was 2 small pieces (total in size of a Twinkie) and the 1/2 portion ($14) of deep fried, was 2 pieces about 1.5 inch square. Tasteless! Relish tray ($9) minimal (8 carrot sticks, 8 celery sticks - 3 inches long, 6 pickle spears, 6 small tomatoes and 8 pieces of pickled beets). Will not recommend nor return.

★ 2

Very disappointing, particularly after reading the reviews. Last night had full portion of the baked cod. 12 oz was claimed on menu, but portion was half that. Two very small filets. Little flavor and a bit mushy. Came with good baked potato and a plastic cup with slaw; also included two small rolls and good honey butter. For $18, is was very disappointing and certainly did not compare to other supper clubs. The relish plate ($9), which the server said would provide “a real supper club experience”, was fresh but very limited…3 pickle spears, several carrot and celery pieces, 6 cherry tomatoes, and very good pickled beets. Bottom line: not bad food, but certainly not memorable (in a good sense), expensive, and will not be returning. There are much better options.

Awesome to have an old school supper club back in operation!

The food was excellent, the drinks were strong and the patrons were as friendly as the bartenders and waitstaff.

This place brings back memories of how supper clubs used to be.

Arrive early, make reservations, enjoy the cheeseball and crackers at the bar before dinner and order an old fashion brandy sour with a slice of lime. Save room (if that's possible) for dessert and one of those tasty ice creams drinks!

The secret is out, this place has it figured out!

Classic supper club experience. Busy bartenders were nonetheless attentive and friendly. Food was excellent and served hot. Waitress was intelligent and pretty. Just do it!!!

I came here with some friends a few weeks ago and it did not disappoint! The waitresses were on point and one of the bus boys was on his game. He made sure we had water all throughout our time there. We had the perch with the rice pilaf. Truly amazing and would definitely come back!

Had the perch fish fry and was terrible! Received six pieces though mostly batter, greasy and expensive! Wait staff was great! Would not recommend.

The food was very good - requisite prime rib in WI on a Saturday night. Service was slow, but perfectly understandable as there was few waitstaff for a very busy night. Would definitely go here again.
